Usually in a place associated with a somewhat prices department store you would expect excellent service and a reasonable meal, they served us Thai fish cakes that definitely cooked from frozen with some old lettuce that was on the turn cucumber that I had requested not to make an appearance and soggy tomatoes, the only saving grace was that my glass of wine was good and the waiter had total empathy and wavered any charge but I would not go again if I ever visited overrated Glasgow.

First of all- the listing on trip advisor is wrong - this is not in port Glasgow - it is Glasgow- within Frasers to be exact. Outwith that, this is really a wee hidden gem. has some great food but also some delicious cocktails. Nipped in for our favourites from here- Passion fruit cocktail and an expresso martini- both just lovely- go try!!

One of my favourite places to go for a break from the shoppers. Hidden away inside Frasers it's perfect for a quick glass of champagne and a lovely plate of food. Despite the very classy surroundings I'd say it it quite reasonably priced, and has a great range of food and drinks to choose from. I usually go here alone and the staff are always friendly and make me feel comfortable and attended to. I love the champagne with canapés for a light lunch - really tasty little creations!

Went in for a glass of fizz whilst shopping today in Glasgow. The drinks were lovely but the restaurant itself really needs redecorated - the air con unit on the ceiling is quite obviously leaking water onto the ceiling tiles and they are discoloured and disgusting looking. A shop such as House of Fraser could be making a fortune if they had a suitable place for champagne afternoon tea and the like but people won't go if the surrounding are as poorly maintained as this.

I love Frasers Store in Glasgow. It is a beautiful space with lovely staircases and lots of departments to suit everyone. The most exquisite fashion names are here and the perfume hall is a palace of delight with every high end brand represented. Their employees are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, so l was very confident taking an old friend to Hugh's Champagne Bar for lunch. Using a voucher for a main course plus a glass of prosecco and macaroons each we made our way to the first floor restaurant. We entered and could not see any staff and after waiting a while a pleasant man told us to sit where we liked. The decor is very dull and it has a look of a staff canteen, no background music and quite depressing. After waiting another while the same man took our order, the menu was quite short and we ordered two haddock, we were told there was none and no other fish either. We then chose the burger and lemon chicken. The burger was dry and tasteless and the lemon chicken had no lemon in it ,instead it had some balsamic dressing thrown over it. This was accompanied by not very cold prosecco. We intended to order coffees to have with our macaroons, but as no-one appeared we decided to go to counter and ask for the macaroons to take home, a box straight from the wholesaler was tipped out and two tiny macaroons were wrapped in a napkin. When l complained about the service the same man said that it was because they were short staffed and he had to be a waiter and a chef. This is ridiculous for a company like Frasers. Needless to say l will not be back. Ann G.

Bought a voucher for Afternoon Tea for 2 for £22 which included a bubbly cocktail. The cocktails are on the menu at £9.50 each so it makes you feel like you got your moneys worth a little, but realistically the drinks aren't worth that much. The sandwiches were nice enough, though strangely there were 3 sandwiches of each filling, in an afternoon tea for 2? They were also cut haphazardly, when you call yourself a "champagne bar" that suggests high standards to me and this didn't fit with that. There was 1 scone cut in half - if you're home baking these why not just make smaller ones? It looks better to give people 1 each. They were very nice however. The same applied to the cakes, 1 of each so they all had to be cut in half to share. The victoria sponge was really good, the highlight of the whole tea, the fruit slice lovely but presented terribly again, it was like the ragged last slice that was left of the tray bake. There was a small dish of crisps which felt odd but they were great crisps. It was all topped off with chocolates which I believe were handmade but none of which appealed to me. As has been mentioned, no tea in the afternoon tea. When it didn't arrive I checked the voucher and in fact no tea or coffee is mentioned. Its sort of integral to an afternoon tea I'd say, and costs buttons so theres no excuse imo. Service was fine, as been said its quite a dark wee place lacking in atmosphere. I've been to numerous afternoon teas and while it had many positive aspects, this one has came out at the bottom of the pile.

Been here many times of late as I had bought a few of the vouchers from Ncrowd (formerly kgb deals) at 2 main meals for £12 though there was about a 24% discount to knock it down lower. I usually purchase on behalf of friends for a regular meet up but due to diets and holidays etc of late none wanted to be tempted by the calorific menu so I have had to use them up with other pals. I had also bought the prosecco deals to match (£8 for 2 glasses - £6 with discount). The food here is very nice and the service is unobtrusive. Grant and Michelle were on hand to look after us immediately as we entered the bar. We were given a nice table and perused the menu as Grant got to task with pouring us a nice cool glass of prosecco. I chose the fish and chips and Lynsey opted for the burger. Both came pretty promptly and were lovely. The chips are hand cut chunky and triple cooked and so tasty! Thoroughly enjoyed the return visit (again). They do a daily special of the dish of the day with a glass of wine for £9 - a bargain really! Cheers guys! Xx

We went here after purchasing voucher for afternoon tea with champagne cocktail for £25. On arrival welcome was non existent and told to sit anywhere we wanted. On looking at menu turns out this wasn't really such a special offer as this was the price for Afternoon tea on Sunday anyway. Service was atrocious , there were plenty of staff around but it appeared none of them had any training and their restaurant awareness was nil. On plus side staff were pleasant. Tea itself was average, sandwiches tasty but cakes were dry and unappealing . We left promptly after having sat with empty glasses for most of time there.... Still waiting for tea or coffee . Can't say I will return here there are too many other choices in Glasgow .

So I'm a sucker for an offer especially when I don't go out that often with friends so when I noticed an offer through NCROWD for two glasses of champagne for £8 I bought it and so did my friend. When entering Hugh's there were bar tenders behind the bar and we had to make the first contact with them which is fine but this place just had four customers in at the time. It was hardly busy so maybe it would have been better customer service if we were approached first. Our server was really nice and brought the champagne to us after we were seated. We were then advised that the restaurant was closed for food so we asked if the could give us crisps and some nuts as we had just finished work. There were no menus or pricelists on the table so we were given the nuts and crisps. They were in small bowls. Really small bowls. One bowl consisted of KP dry roasted and the other bowl was plain crisps so we got tucked into them. We had finished our champagne but no one came near us. I had to then approach the bar tender to get another couple of glasses. That did annoy me especially at that moment when they were eight people including us in the room at that time. Anyway, long story short we got up to leave and asked if we owed anything for the crisps and nuts to be told yes, that's £5.80. I'm no skinflint but for two tiny bowls?? Seriously? If I thought for one minute I was paying a bit extra for ambience, service and atmosphere then fair enough but this room resemble a reception are within the Holiday Inn (no disrespect to them) but for a champagne bar.....We were disappointed. We probably would have stayed but sorry for a Friday night I wanted a bit of atmosphere and better service. Will not be going back

We had another excellent lunch, followed by coffee , followed by tea as we were meeting others at differing times. We were there practically half the day where I observed the staff and the dynamics . Lunch with a frined. Initial impression was good, well laid out restaurant - seemed very pleasant. We were told to choose a seat and were then left for 15 mins before a young waitress finally approached to take our order. We ordered two white wine spritsers - these were presented as a glass of wind/glass with ice and a straw/bottle of soda - we had to mix our own!!. She then took our order which was quite pleasant but nothing special, the menu was mediocre but acceptable for a light lunnch We then had coffee, served lukewarrm. The service was slow with several customers complaining. There did not seem to be anyone in charge., Although very pleasant the young lady serviing us was not well trained and seemed very unsure of herself. Mid way though our lunch we were "entertained" by two members of staff shouting at each other in the bar area. When we were leaving - payment was to be made at the bar, we were again "entertained" by a young lady taking the payment from two ladies who wished to - split their bill and pay their own. The young lady was unable, in her own words, to add up, it was almost omical to watch as she searched for a calculator, which was no help to her and she then asked another member of staff to help. The entire experience was unprofessional adn disappointing, we certainly will not return.

Went for Champagne Afternoon Tea. It was a calm atmosphere and a lovely and relaxing break from busy Buchanan Street. The sandwiches were freshly made with Ham, Egg and Tuna with a small bowl of crisps. The scones were still warm and served with a delicious Strawberry jam and Chantilly cream. The cakes were nice and the handmade chocolates to finish were really nice. The champagne was excellent. Good value at £30.95 for 2 people. My only comment would be that the sandwiches and cakes were more hearty than dainty as per a traditional afternoon tea, however they all tasted great. Would definitely return

Visited on an Itison voucher. Deal or not I expected something very swish considering it's classed as a champagne bar and located within House of Frasers. Couldn't have been further away from the truth.Staff were pleasant enough but no refinement in food. Sandwiches were like doorstops and basic choice - tuna, egg mayo and ham, two scones served with cream, jam and bizarrely enough marmalade, 2 truffles that appear to have just been pulled out of a box and a slice of banana and walnut loaf and a bog standard cup cake. Could have mustered up far better at home for a lot cheaper and very poor in comparison to other afternoon teas out there. Won't return.

My sister was treating us to afternoon tea with champagne. The sandwiches were more like doorstops than the finger variety and that was a plus for me - the one problem was that half of the bread was stale. The scones were also stale and could have been stoated off the plate, unfortunately the macaroons and the truffles were also horrible. Best bit was the champagne and the cakes - what a shame as we were really excited about going here. It was really empty when we arrived there, but started to fill up a bit later on.

Enjoyed a 3 course late lunch with my partner on Saturday. We both had the soup of the day to start with, which was a delicious and really tasty tomato & basil. Superb! The soup was accompanied by a warm bread roll& butter. Pleased to say that the soup was 'piping hot' just the way it should be and the way I like it! Well done! Staff deserve a particular mention as they are attentive pleasant and really nice. The starterwas washed down with a really nice pino Grigio which definitely hit the spot. We then had a main of roasted sea bass and parmentier potatoes drizzled in garlic dressing with peppercorns accompanied by a side salad. This was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and an absolute credit to the chef. We decided to go the whole hog and then finished with a rather delicious raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake on a raspberry coulis. This was lovely light with a fabulous base and delicious topping, didn't stay on the plate for long was demolished in no time. As it was a nice leisurely lunch, we had another glass of pino it was sooo delicious. Would recommend for a late lunch as nice intimate surroundings and menu choice is good with lots of variety. Booked a table here for a late lunch with an Itison voucher. On arrival the server asked for my voucher. As it was t the bottom of my hand bag I asked if I could give it to her once I was sat down. She said yes. And that was it. Silence. I then said " so where is our table?". I was informed I could sit anywhere. ( what is the point of booking). So we picked a table and sat down. Drinks were ordered and came promptly. We ordered the burger and chips and the steak sandwich. Burger was ok. Nothing special. The steak in the sandwich was totally inedible as it was so chewy. I informed the server that I couldn't eat the steak and was informed that the chef would be told. Then nothing....... I then asked for the bill. It came and I put the money beside the bill on the table. We were ignored or at least 15 minutes. I then picked up the bill and put my jacket on. Suddenly a server appeared and asked " do you want your change?". I said I did. We then went to the till where I was told in the most condescending way to "enjoy the rest of my day". Visited Hugh's Champagne Bar on line before our visit and thought it looked good and as it is located within Frasers, which is synonymous with quality, my expectations were high.Unfortunately, expectations were not met. Frasers is the most beautiful department store and how they managed to create a Champagne Bar within this store with no atmosphere is difficult to comprehend. The food and drink were over priced and of a poor quality. We had steak sandwiches which were priced at £9.99, the meat was tough and the chips on the side were soggy. A small glass of red wine was £4.95. On a positive note, the staff were helpful and friendly. This place is possibly ok if you are shopping in store and wish a quick refreshment, however, if you want to experience a real Champagne Bar, pop round the corner to Champagne Central. I can't remember his name, but he was about 30 years old, and spoke very eloquently about his mum (it was appropriate - as part of the conversation we engaged him in) and he helped to make the occasion memorable as much as anything. The afternoon tea was amazing, with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, cakes, shortbread, vegetable crisps, strawberries, and of course champagne. Worst shawarma I’ve ever had. I grew up with the best Lebanese/Middle Eastern food outside of the old country in Dearborn, Michigan. I enjoy pushing the envelope a bit with the cooks up King Street and Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow, and while a bit greasy, that food is all right. Shawarma Boy? Man: you gotta grow up. It’s clear that the food is hanging on its laurels with jalapeños, chilli…and zero taste underneath. For £13 for a wrap and chips, I expect a lot more than a tiny wrap which was made wrong in the first place - not okay for someone to order food without stuff to then have half the junk on it...I mean, get it together. The worst chicken shawarma I’ve ever tasted in the entire world can be found at Shawarma Boy in the Barras - Calton, Glasgow at BAaD. It's awful. Avoid.

Place is a shambles. No consistency whatsoever. Shut every time we visit. Ye phone to order and they to you use the app. The app doesn’t work. Their timings are all over the shot. What’s the point in having a shop if you’re never open or reliable. Local area needs a better roll shop pronto. Would make a killing.
