Rendezvous Cafe in Tameside

I went to rendezvous cafe for lunch with some work colleagues. After a heavy morning of lifting, we wanted a warm sit down meal. The cafe was very busy and there was a queue. My colleagues got in the queue, however there was some confusion as to which side the queue should be. One staff member (lady taking food to tables) was quite vocally rude, regarding the customers queuing. After we ordered and paid, whist waiting for our food the lady taking food to tables was shouting out order numbers. She was shouting the order number and the food order, in a very confusing manner, so people wasn’t claiming their food. The cafe was very noisy with lots of the customers talking with each other. I heard her again being derogatory about the customers saying “if everyone wasn’t gabbing so much they might be able to hear” as a paying customer, I didn’t appreciate hearing this remark in regards to customers dining in their cafe. A lot of the customer base are older ladies and gentlemen that are potentially hard of hearing, or people meeting for a catch up and shouldn’t have to be silent while waiting for their food. I had no issue with my food, although it was rather bland, I was hungry and ate it all. Looking around however at other people’s meals, had I received some of them, I would have sent it back as inedible. Somebody needs to learn how to make toast that isn’t cremated. Based on my experience with the waitress, I would not return

Good food at a good price.The cheese pie was yummy & my husband really enjoyed the hotpot.Sadly the chips were frozen ,l prefer real potato but l know lots of places use them.The tables were full so that speaks for itself.

Called in after one year with the family today. We live abroad so it was nice to see the staff. However my tea cake was burnt and I had to keep asking for it. After 20 minutes it arrived but was burnt inside and parts were uneatable. It’s not hard to provide a toasted tea cake. I think the staff who cook the meals need to step up and realise how to treat customers and their meals that they pay for.

Potato & Leek Soup Very Bland in Taste. Bread Rock Hard. This bread was Not fresh on the day. Very disappointed

This cafe gets very busy at lunchtimes, but that is to be expected as the food is tasty and wholesome.

Lovely staff and very good quality food I always get a breakfast and is always so tasty! They do homemade pies and scones and hot pot which is probably the best I’ve ever tasted .. Lovely atmosphere and I would definitely come again simply because it’s the nicest cafe I’ve been too in a long time. I promise it will be worth your while :)

They are are so accommodating here. Every time we visit, we are treated to good food and that's cheap and served promptly. What more could you ask for? They serve food after 3pm too which is a rare find in Hyde!

A wonderful friendly atmosphere,Clean and Good quality food .The breakfast is a well represented meal .Reasonable prices .

This café has been in Hyde for as long as I can remember, but recently me and my partner decided to visit here for some breakfast. The restaurant furnishings are clearly outdated and could do with a refurbishment as the seats are rather uncomfortable and the layout is rather awkward to move in, especially so for someone with a tall frame such as mine. Also, the restaurant claims to be air conditioned "for your comfort", but we found ourselves uncomfortably warm in here, even with our outdoor jackets taken off. The atmosphere feels rather claustrophobic in this café also. We ordered the full English breakfast with a coffee for our meals. Also, due to my allergy of eggs, we kindly asked the lady serving us if it was possible to swap my eggs with an alternative (hash brown). We waited for at least 10 minutes for our meal, and when it arrived, we thought the order was wrong because my plate still had eggs on it. The waiter was polite and kind enough to fetch me the hash brown and apologized for the error. The food was rather nice, not extraordinary. The sausage was good, and the bacon was cooked well. We were going to order the home made Mrs G's Hot Pie but we decided against it after the error with the main meal order. Instead we both ordered the homemade scone with jam and cream. Needless to say, that it was the best tasting scone I've ever had. We even decided to order another between us. The coffee however tasted like it had been reheated, and didn't look very fresh. Personally, I don't think we will return to this café for a meal, but the odd scone may not go amiss. May return for a cup of tea whenever I'm in town, but won't go out of my way.
