the chip portions are tiny,we got a medium and it looks like a small its so small for a medium

Absolutely awful. I paid £19.20 for two lots of fish and chips. The fish was yellow with 10mm thick rubbery so called batter which was totally inedible and went in the bin. Don't waste your money.

Just not good, fish is not freshly prepared in our case and this results in a weak, greasy crust. Fries weren't what I was used to either. It's a shame about this beautiful place, expectations are high when you see it from the outside.

THE FISH WAS A FROZEN BATTERED ONE KEPT BREAKING UP BECAUSE IT WAS FROZEN FISH BATTER WAS GLOOPY AND THICK NOT LIGHT AND CRISPY, THE BATTERED BURGER WAS A FROZEN BATTERED BURGER??? WHY??? YOUR A CHIP SHOP WHY ARE YOU BUYING IN RUBBISH PREBATTERED THICK BATTER ITEMS DO THEM FRESH WITH YOUR OWN LIGHT AIRY BATTER MOST PLACES GET THE SAUSAGES OR BURGERS IN FRONT OF YOU PUT THEM IN BATTER IN FRONT OF YOU THEN IN THE FRYER. YOU DONT EVEN HIDE THE FACT YOU JUST KEPT GOING IN THE BACK OR BEHIND THE COUNTER AND JUST PRODUCE A PRE BATTERED ITEM, EVEN MY BURGER BUN HAD TO BE MICROWAVED.... HAVE SOME PRIDE IN YOUR FOOD. WHEN I ORDERED THE DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER I EXPECTED A COUPLE OF GRIDLED BURGERS LIKE MOST PLACES BUT NO FROZEN BURGER THAT WERE OVER COOKED DUE TO BEING DEEP FRIED TO LONG ND AS HARD AS BULLETS, WAS ASKED IF I WANTED ALL THE SALAD SO SAID YES, ONE SLICE OF TOMATO AND ONE LETTUCE LEAF NOTHING ELSE. AND DONT EVEN GET ME ON THE CHIPS. REHEATED REFRIED, SO THEY TASTED STALE AND WERE HARD AND YOU COULD TASTE THE OLD GREASE ON THEM, ABSOLUTELY THE WORSE CHIPS EVER. AND SUCH A TINT PORTION TOO. CURRY SAUCE FOR A TEENY POT WAS £2 SAME FOR THE GRAVY, SHOCKING YOU CANT JUSTIFY THAT. 23 QUID I SPENT FOR THE WORSE I HAVE EVER EVER HAD. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Banging fish n chips, pies, chicken, the lot. Well recommend.

Everything tastes like mutton… fish, chips, calamary rings…. Please use different tubs for frying different meats 🤷🏻‍♂️

It was busy, staff all were working hard. Got my food after a long wait and left.

Worst fish and chips in my 38 years of living!! They were over priced, didn't take down our order properly, so we ended up having 3 meals missing, the portions were disgraceful! Below kiddie portions and the fish was horrible and cheap. If this is what Scotland has to offer, then I'll stick with London. The customer service was a dIsgrace too. The woman tried to make out it was our mistake that the order was wrong even though we repeated it to her TWICE. NEVER AGAIN!!! My advice to tou is stay at home and fry tour own Mc Cain Chips. You get more out of the packet!!

Horrible tasting food. We were visiting Dingwall from Canada and was looking forward to tasting fish and chips from a takeaway place. Absolutely disgusting and fish was probably sitting for long. Dry!

Was asked if I would like salad with my vegie burger, "yes please" one tiny lettuce leaf and one slice of transparent tomato, biggest food insult ever, everything was greasy.

My favourite chip shop. I’ve been coming here for over 20 years, the only place I know that still fry’s in the old way absolutely fantastic food every time

The Servers were extremely rude and gave me a bad expierence. not a good atmosphere to be in. the chips are half raw.

I ordered a haggis supper. A pre-cooked haggis was taken from the top of the range and microwaved then deep fried - the batter was like shoe leather and the haggis was extremely dry. I never like to waste food, but I didn't finish it. Chips were okay. Overall a pretty poor experience - I wouldn't go back.

Great service friendly looks clean and tidy. But the food was not good I don't think the oil was hot enough for the fish. I could pick the fish up and eat it like a sandwich.

Just..... not great. My wife and I had fish and chips The batter on the fish was more akin to pancake mixture It was bright orange in colour and was like leather. Had to physically pull it off the fish. The fish was poor too. Each individual flake broke as you worked with it which led us to believe they were cooking fish from FROZEN!! Something which any fish fryer worth his money never does. The fish was also slimy ...... definitely cooked from frozen. We're not stupid mate. Some of us have worked in chippies ourselves..... its hardly a protected industry. 🙄 Then there's the white pudding. Absolutely disgusting. Sooo heavy, stodgy, thick ...however you want to describe it. The best of all was the manager/owner was there all the time barking his orders.... doing very little while his good staff team ran the show. Piss poor

Best chicken fritters and chips you can get locally in my opinion !! Delicious ! Shocked at the Google reviews proves people can be harsh! The service is friendly fast prices are fair abs the foods delicious ! What more can you ask for ! Plus the use real Ora ge cheese not the horrible white cheddar ! The gravy is delicious too! As is the curry sauce ! Me abs my very fussy kids can’t stay away from the place!

I do not understand the negative reviews for this chip shop. I have been coming here for years and the standard is very consistent. I returned after a period when I was not able to travel and I was not disappointed. The shop itself is clean and tidy and all the current safety measures are in place. In closing the prices are very competitive.

One word sums up. Avoid. 3 x fish supper, 5 minutes to drive home, fish was overcooked, batter was soggy like a pancake, fish has more bones in it than a surgical skeleton, and the grease had seeped through the cardboard box and into the bag. Over £20 wasted, most expensive dog food ever, at least the dog enjoyed it.

Service staff were very nice but the chips were covered in a thick covering of oil and tasted of oil wich was extremely unpleasant I will not be returning

I purchased two fish and chips from this establishment earlier today. I drove away 3 miles to sit by the river and eat it. We then found that the batter was limp, rubbery,undercooked,complete with bones and greasy! I had no alternative but to take these two disgusting portions of fish and chips back to the shop. I was greeted by the obese manageress and I started to tell her my problem and she said "Come round the back so the other customers can't see and hear what you're complaining about" I showed her the batter and she said " It looks a bit soggy yes but it's ok for me, but then again I eat pretty much anything!" She then laughed and gave me a ten pound note. I told her that it cost me £15 and she said " Some of the fish and chips are missing" . I explained that we had to taste it. She laughed again. I said we will not be coming back and we will leave a review of it exactly what happened. To that she laughed again and said "Do what you want!" Shocking! Plus out of pocket by five pounds. Absolutely vile and disgusting experience!! Be warned!

This is one of the best fish and chips shops in Scotland in my opinion. Really fresh fish and nice to be able to sit in with a drink or cup of tea. Staff very friendly as well. What's not to like?

Ordered a royal burger & chips an extra £2. No problem I thought came in a tiny container & for £2 there was 23 tiny soggy chips. Absolutely awful & can't say the king rib supper had any more chips. Definitely wont be back.

Quite possibly the worst fish supper I have ever had. Suggest management visit La Mirage in Helmsdale to see what good looks like.

Tbis place is thee best chippy in the highlands i swear you will not be disappointed nothings nicer than the other sample it all everything tastes so gd, the staff are lovely and friendly aswell fast service!

I don't understand why people rate this place. I've been twice and on both occasions there were bones in the fish and the chips were greasy. Horrible.

Nice clean establishment , staff were very inept and slow ,the gravy was disgusting ( use Maggi gravy like every other chippy on planet) generally just bad food . Maybe the ice cream is nicer ?????
