The Bistro in Highland

Good people, unfortunately, can't say the sam regarding the food. We had one of the worst steak we ever had.

After 20min nobody was talking to us. Looked great, but the staff wasn't looking to us, although they saw us.

Very very nice place. We only had breakfast there but it was very nice.

A very cozy restaurant, as well as great food. Moreover, they sometimes have live music on weekends. The staff was very friendly, specially James. From Spain

We picked this restaurant based on a menu in our B&B only to find a different menu when we arrived (not the restaurant's fault!). While my partner enjoyed the meal (Hunter's Chicken), I did not feel the same. The service was slow despite not being particularly busy and the wait staff forgot drinks and neglected to check our table to confirm everything was good.

Restaurant with very long and meaningless times, there were 4 of us and 2 people ate half an hour after the others had finished. To get a glass of wine it took 10 minutes with the restaurant empty. Not recommended for having dinner together.

Food and service were excellent. Food came on time. Dine here to bypass lines in Glencoe.

Waiters should be friendlier and less cold. The food portion was small. It doesn't match the prices!

The only restaurant out of the 5 tested in the city that accepted us with our dog... and we thank them! Very hearty meal (we had burgers) and very good value for money. the service was fast and efficient.

We had not made a reservation and had to wait 20 minutes in the bar. That ended up being 40. That was less but worth the wait. The staff is mainly still fairly young and inexperienced, but it seemed like they were doing their best. However, the food was extremely tasty and well served. If you can see past the nonsense, definitely recommended!

The food was simple and of low value, starter and main (soup/roast) below average, rude inattentive staff. The desert was the best but I waited for it for 30 minutes then was told no tea was ordered. Then the tea was thrown at my table by overexcited water. The bill was wrong, I was under charged as the same "J" waiter forgot to give a correct bill. I like the hotel and often visit FWilliam but was not impressed by the hospitality of the waiting staff.

A huge shop, large groups are expected here... The food is OK, as is the service. But there are nicer places to eat.

Beautiful food and excellent service

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The bruschetta (only thing I took a pic of) was delicious and the scampi and chips were really good too. My other half enjoyed hot wings and the steak and ale pie. The staff are really attentive and friendly and it's reasonably priced.

Friendly service, traditional menu, well cooked and nice atmosphere.

I was on fort William and while the other places were full this was empty, so as i had to have lunch i had no choice. Edible mussels and fries with pieces of previous fried products (prove that they reuse the oil excessive times and dont clean). So if all places are full and this empty go to Tesco, your pocket and health Will have a lot of gratitude to you.

We didn’t make advanced booking at other restaurants but luckily we found this bistro that accepted walk in. Delicious meals served in big dish with acceptable price. One server though, still providing good service. Surroundings are clean. Although this bistro has yet to receive many reviews, I’m glad to give them 5 stars because of this surprising find. Everything is good here.

We'd planned on eating here before boarding the sleeper train to London. They wouldn't serve us because we weren't guests at the Hotel. The member of staff was curt and unhelpful.

Average food for a high price. Nice staff but wouldn't go again.

Food was average at best. Won't be in a rush to return. Service was good. Eat there twice when I stayed in hotel. Hotel is decent but better eating establishments around.

Food was ok, partners steak was a little over done. Our server, short dark hair with glasses and septum piercing (Jacqueline?) Absolutely fantastic. Made me feel so comfortable and at home, made the entire meal out great! Thanks Jacqueline!

Such a shame as we wanted this to be a nice lunch, supporting a local business in low season rather than going to the nearby Mcdonald's, KFC or Costa. The food, what we had of it, actually tasted quite nice. It was a bad start waiting at the 'Wait here to be seated' sign for a while with no sign of anyone. We didn't see the bar until walking around a bit. Asked there if we could have lunch (we were still an hour before end of service as advertised online) and the woman behind the bar said she'd go ask the kitchen. Seated beside the door which was quite cold. Asked what drinks we would like. The bar server was unable to tell me what beers were on tap (there were only 4) and when my partner asked for a shandy she said they don't do them, I suspect she didn't know what it was. I felt sorry for her as she was so young, perhaps would feel more confident if given training by the managers. She was very polite though, I think just needs more experience. My partner ordered soup to start and we both ordered mains. Waited a while and our mains appeared along with a soup spoon! But no actual soup for starters. The server, a different one from earlier, apologised but we decided then just to have the mains. The steak pie was tasty, good quality meat and lovely chips. The roast beef 'daily roast' was, um, pork! I wouldn't normally eat pork in a roast. Just as well I could eat it though. The server would have corrected it for me I think, it was my choice to keep it once we had told them it's not beef. The pork tasted nice if a little dry. The gravy, veg and potatoes were lovely. At this point another table were leaving and a lady said her burger was so tough she could sole her shoes with it. A different again server cleared our plates, asking if it was ok. When my partner said 'what we were actually served was ok although it was not what we ordered' she just laughed. When asking for the bill the soup was still charged on it so had to ask for it to be removed. I didn't want to make a big deal of being served the wrong roast meat but perhaps a discount could have been given voluntarily to make up for it. I don't think we'll be back. Needs better service and a warmer atmosphere.

We stood for a while waiting to be seated then had to go around the corner to find a staff member, who then after checking they would still serve us, (it was only 13.30) took us to a table and took our order, she didn't know what beers they sold, I ordered soup for a starter and steak pie, my partner ordered the roast beef. A good while later, a waitress appeared with both our main courses, and my soup spoon, but no soup, decided to not wait on soup and just had the main, my partners roast beef though was actually a pork steak thing, when we said about this, the waitress did offer to swap it but we decided not ṭo wait any longer and just had what she brought. At the end, another waitress came over, asked how the food was and just laughed and walked away when we told her of the problems. Then when the Bill came it still had the soup, and roast beef on it! Had to get it changed. To be fair, the food we ate tasted nice enough, it just wasn't the meal or service we expected, another customer walked out saying she had had the hamburger, and it was that tough she could have re-soled her shoes with it!!

Great place for a bit of lunch. Had soup and a sandwich, freshly made and really tasty. Would definitely recommend

Great dinner- wonderful dessert

We tried Scottish food for the first time here. It was delicious and the service was amazing.

Gluten free menu was really good, we dined here twice while on holiday. The staff were very helpful .

Stopped in for dinner, had the 8oz sirloin steak was really good

Can't even begin to describe this place, we stopped for a quite drink to witness staff f'ing and blinding at customers because they have failed to provide the meal they ordered. I have never in my life witnessed staff be so rude to customers, and more concerning the supervisor not march them off the premises.

Waited to be seated while two of the staff chatted. The mussel starter had small pieces of broken shell, which wasn't pleasant. The mashed potato with my main course tasted like powdered smash and my husband's Cullen Skink was also a disappointment. Not impressed.

Very disappointing. Mushroom starter served in a very bland sauce. Specialty burger was tough, and the mussels were like rubber (served in the same bland sauce as the mushrooms). Everything looked like it had been pre-cooked then re-heated. Manager adjusted the bill appropriately, which was appreciated.

Super expensive and horrible food.

Horrible food. Do NOT get the burger. It is despicable.

Just the place to eat when the weather is wet and wild. Really enjoyed the roast beef whilst my husband had a cheese sandwich with a side salad

The food at The Bistro is exceptional and portions are enormous. Staff are attentive without being intrusive. Excellent value for money. Visited twice in one week, and would have been more if we lived closer.

We were 'lucky' to get a table in the bar as we were not residents at the Alexandra Hotel. That said, there was where our luck ran out. Having been given the Special Menu (with two items, soup and Fish Pie) I ordered the Fish Pie to be told it was all gone. So I ordered the Chef's Steak and Ale Pie with vegetables. The best word i can find is dissappointing. The vegetables were sad and the Pie underwhelming. The lager shandy was so weak that I had to order another half of lager to make it taste of anything. Don't go here!

Nice place, part of the hotel complex. Good quality, home prepared food. Stopped off for lunch (and a cold drink) here on the way back from visiting Glen Finnan Viaduct. Son's partner is an avid Harry Potter Fan. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Ate here three times during a seven day break/holiday. The food is absolutely fantastic - I kid you not! It may not look much from outside, but I promise you, the food, portions, price & friendly staff, will not disappoint.

By along way the worst meal I have had in a long long time, soup was tepid at most, as for.the roast of the day, chicken was dry,veg was overcooked and cold, it's just as well it was running the government eat out deals most of it is still on the.plate, would not recommend to anyone.

Really bog standard food. Definately felt like it came from Brake Brothers catering. I had Sweet potato and chickpea curry with rice. It was a really bland curry which had so much thickener in it that it had that jelly glisten to it., The rice as soon as I saw it without touching it you could tell it was just a starchy blob of tasteless rice. Sorry but I've tasted better from a tin. The staff were very nice and pleasant though. i wa the blob

The food was good the waiting staff were not attentive enough or even that happy.

Bra klass på maten som följer skottisk tradition (uppfattar vi det som) och bra service.

Essen war soweit okay. Das Ambiente ist eher 70er. Die Bedienung wünscht sich sichtlich weniger bis keine Gäste. Ansonsten sind wir gut satt geworden und kaltes Bier gab es auch.

They not deserve even half star for the overpriced terrible food I ever eat

Loved it, great place to gather with friends and family for a meal that suits all dietary needs.

Waited an hour 30 for food, almost none of the options on the menu were available. No one bothered to apologise for the delay. Food terrible, do not go. Cannot stress enough how bad this place is, would give it minus 5 stars if I could.
