Ordered 2 x fish & chips , and chips cheese , fish very nice , chips were good but unfortunately poor portion size Unfortunately lady who served us was quite sharpe , maybe having a bad day but a smile gies along way with me

What an absolute smashing way to talk to customers. Not even a customer greeting or hello reids fish bar x yz talking. Snappy attitude from an 'overworked employee' male voice on this call. 'Hello can you call back later? We are extremely bust right now and I can't take your order.' 'If I came and stand in your queue you would have my order anyway.' 'Right now I have 20 orders to do, so call back later!' No time for customers it seems or staff member is immature and unable to deal with a busy workload. Absolutely disgusting attitude of the staff. Wonder if he kisses his mother with that mouth?

Great fish and chips. Great portions and fabulous value. We got a takeaway supper for 4 and then drove 14 miles to at the Airbnb and the food was still hot, chips and batter crispy and the portions large.

It 's a fish and chop shop. The service was good, professional and friendly. If you were looking for a fish and chip takeaway to sit in the car by the beach and enjoy, you couldn't do much better. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and the chips were on a par.

Excellent fish and chips, meat and tatties and everything else I tried. Good price good staff and a good social distancing policy in place. Please try if you are in the area it’s well worth it.

Our b&b lady suggested this chippy to us and I'm glad she did. We only had chips but they were really tasty and not at all greasy. As they were adhering to the govt guidelines we did have to queue but that just goes to show how popular the chippy is with the locals. If we ever visited Thurso again we would definitely go to this chippy.

One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Fresh fish and crispy but soft batter. Coming from a town with two award winning chippers this beats them for quality and flavour. Also very good value at £6.80 for a supper.

Pre ordered at 5:55pm and went straight down so 5 mins later arrived at the fish bar!! No order, so had to give the order again, waited 15 minutes, then got home to the wrong order. I got chicken fillets instead of a battered chicken breast!! Chips tough and tasteless. Spoiled my meal, kids working in the place is obviously not ideal.

Easy to miss this little place but a great find when you get there. Tasty fish and chips - good value for money.

Food was good as always but staff were shouting at each other and looked like they were going to start on each other. I suppose it was entertaining but not what you look for in a business. Still good food though

Great food. My son was disappointed that there are no longer irn bru sausages on the menu!! The kids fish and chips was great, it was little bite size pieces rather than one big piece with I loved! Definitely the best chippy in Thurso!! My boys loved the deep fried Jaffa cakes!!

from Wick, Just over the bridge turn right then take first left. across from the dry cleaners / laundrette a small white painted shop. Nothing fancy, just good old fish and chips with the freshest fish ever.... good prices. freshly cooked.... nice...

The fish and chips were both fresh but the batter was drenched in oil. The portion size was made out to be large due to the amount of batter it was covered in.The staff are clearly unhappy and this is evident from the manner in which they interact with people.Only go if you have nowhere else to eat.

No excuses really. The fish was ok and the serving was generous, but the chips were like warm and peas pretty chilly.

We were looking for some dinner and found this in the recommendations. We had fish and chips ans some chicken fillets. It was all okay. Prince as well as quality.

Trip to Thurso last year to help out a friend. First night in town we went to Reids and had excellent fish suppers. Fiona mentioned that "they used to do patties" and I pointed out that they were still there on the menu. In Thurso for four days and made the trip to buy patties for lunch on three of them. Deep fried potatoes and meat. Inexpensive and tasty!

Stopped here with the family enroute to the Scrabster ferry.

This is the best chip shop in Thurso but if only the staff let the fish drain a bit as the fish is far too greasy, dripping with fat every time we buy fish. Fat needs to be the right temp. to get a perfect batter too I can't eat it as is so full of fat. The patties are too salty otherwise they would be perfect. Hate to try any other chippy if this place is supposed to be the best!

We recently had a fish supper from here during our drive of the NC500 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Clearly a popular place too, with lots of people coming in.

Quality of product is fairly good but spoiled by poor service. Wrong order is frequently delivered, discovery is generally too late as it is a take away. I stopped going because I no longer wanted to complain every time my order was wrong.

It is a perfectly eatable fish n chip shop , not the best in the world but produces a good plate of whatever and chips , I would use it again but it's not the best

I wouldn't normally review a chippy but as there are two in Thurso go to the other one by the church this one has very half asleep staff (think they are on work experience).

I visited the Chip shop on 21/06/17, the food was very nice apart the hairs, there was so many hairs in my fish and chips! If the problem gets sorted I would recommend!

I would say this place does the best fish and chips I've tasted in Thurso and the surrounding area. Fish is freshly made while you wait though sometimes it does need a little time draining before its eaten as the fat it's fried in doesn't have time to drain. Lovely! Mmmmm

I have not visited this shop since it was renovated. Last time I was very disappointed with the food. This time quite the opposite. I asked for freshly cooked chips and was given exactly that. A very reasonable amount of chips with curry sauce which was good. Donna could not have been more helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my snack, so much so I went back to the shop to thank and congratulate her for the quality and service.

I'd never return to the others now I've discovered this clean fresh place, the others are filthy and the chips lying around like rubber

Hot and tasty, fresh fish and chips. Waited about ten minutes so not bad. Place was really busy with a steady stream of customers. We sat on the benches outside and enjoyed the evening sun :)

The food was good - cooked to order. As a visitor to Thurso I found the ordering system confusing, the two doors and finding the place without it's name anywhere to be seen. It wasn't the quickest food I've ever had in a chippie and the staff seemed disorganised but the food was good and piping hot.

The service was really bad. We were totally ignored by all the staff and didn't realise that the other people in the shop were waiting for their orders until two new customers came in and were served before us. We then put in our order and waited 30 minutes for our fish and chips. The food was good but the staff really let the place down with their attitude. This is the first time I have felt compelled to post a negative report.

I have used this Chip Shop many times and the food is excellent, not too greasy and well cooked generally to order

Every year i come up to visit family and have to go to reids chip shop the fish and chips are beautiful and always a pleasure to go to. Place is always busy but they are fast at getting your order made and the fish are made to order so. No dried out fish

Reids is tucked away between the main street and the riverside. A must do...chips from Reids eaten on the beach...delicious.

Had a haddock supper with mushy peas. The peas were nothing to sing about, but they were ok. That's standard for mushy peas. The chips are good. The fish itself was lovely, though the batter wasn't ideal. All in all, however, best fish shop in Thurso.

Went here for fish and chips after being told they were the best in Thurso and we were not disappointed. We were all hungry after a long day sightseeing and the fish suppers were just great.

We get fish and chips from here every couple of weeks and it is excellent. A fish supper and extra piece of fish is more than adequate for two people and good value at £9.80.Everything is cooked to order so is very fresh with lovely batter on the fish.

Your average chippy really but the fish you could tell was so fresh. The batter was a tad heavy but still good. Chips were your usual chippy chips and that's what you want! They have a little counter that seats four. We were glad of it to relax and sit in

I visit Thurso every year and I always have to treat myself to fish and chips at Reids. Their fried fish has always been nice. The staff are friendly and the portions are big. Their cakes ain't bad either. So it's all good in my shoes.

Fish totally over cooked batter greasy, chips woody and tasteless vinegar ok - don't bother unless you are desperate!

By far the best fish and chip shop in Thurso, the chips are to die for( not crispy ends like most places I've been). The polony and black pudding were cooked to perfection 10/10. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff.

We visited Reids with my son and took our meal to the sea front, my fish tasted a bit peculiar and had a tange of orange to it, when I took the batter off there was some kind of sea urchin stuck to ot, this made me feel quite sick and I wanted to go back, but my son and husband just said "eat it it's okay, not. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and returned some weeks later but just for a portion of chips, I don't know how long the fat had been in the fryer but the chips were awful, needless to say I will not be returning again.

My wife and I dropped by 1 lunchtime for Red Pudding and Chips and 1 Haddock and Chips which we enjoyed on Thurso Beach, a couple of minutes away. The Red Pudding, the Chips, the Haddock and the Service were all great. White Pudding and Red Pudding are 2 superb Scottish specialities - I just wish Chip Shops did them in the south of England as well!!

It's a shame that the quality is not the same as it used to be. Before Reid's was refurbished I would have highly recommended them but now the quality of the food is poor. Although there is a lot of staff, they don't appear to know what they are doing. They are polite but staff training on their role within the the team would be beneficial. Their premises is spotlessly clean with several seats to rest on and newspapers available to read while waiting. Last time I visited Reid's, I was given a wrong item in my takeaway and the chips were soaked in grease. I hope Reid's take my comments on board and get back to their former glory.

Out of the way but a great find. They have a good selection of chip shop food and portions are large. Usually have the fish or white pudding, always tastes great!

The Reid's Chip Shop is a quality chipper in Thurso. They give you a quick and polite service. They have a good choice of suppers or singles plus a very cold chiller and there ain't many of those in Thurso

Used to be lovely but basically if your not in just as they open the chips and the rest of your meal is poor

We hit Thurso just as the cafes were winding down for the day. Our eating options were running out. Not wishing to do a Pentland Firth crossing on an empty stomach we pulled out the trusty smart phone which located Reids Fish and Chip shop. It was just by the riverside near the Co-Op store.It was encouraging to see that they were very busy. The place looked spotlessly clean, the friendly staff wore hairnets, and our fish suppers were cooked fresh to order. We had a bit of time to play with before heading for the ferry port so we took our haddock and chips down to the shore. The fish was nicely coated in a crisp batter and the chips were traditional british-chippy style. The irn bru sausages gave us a giggle and if we'd been sausage-eating folk we would have given them a try out of curiosity! Although it said 'fish' on the menu board, its apparently haddock that they batter for the fish suppers.Worth a try.

Disappointed with our meal of fish & chips . I had chosen Scampi, this was ok, there was way too much batter and not much else. Chips limp and not hot. Fish very watery and tasteless under batter.
