£4.10 for a one shot decaffeinated black coffee !!! That’s an outrageous price for a no milk coffee. Highest price ever charged so far.

Stopped here one morning before going to an appointment in the area. The service was excellent and the staff were both professional and courteous. Actually, it was a great experience, spoiled only by a few ill-mannered (locals?) people who behaved in a rude and entitled manner. The coffee was so nice that l stopped in again for a takeaway coffee on my return journey.

Lovely place to sit and work, I go here a lot with my laptop and it has a nice atmosphere. I will say though that paying £3.80 for a very small coffee in a paper cup is a bit of a liberty. I got given a paper takeaway cup the first time and thought it was odd so this time I even asked if I could have it in a mug as I was sitting in and the man behind the till told me they are only doing takeaway cups at the moment, even though I could see mugs on the side and there were other people around me with mugs lol. Might sound petty but I just feel like having your coffee in a mug is a basic requirement in a cafe. It also feels like needless waste. If I wanted a paper cup I would go to Costa. It’s a shame because as I said, lovely place

It took me a long time to find this place. It is not properly sign posted and the building is way out in the complex. The shop / café is in the lower level. I went to buy pure Colombian coffee beans. The place has about six different fancy named brands but what I found surprising, and annoying, was that the coffee was multi labelled; eg “The Yard is Colombian, Guatemala and Rwanda” – how can true Colombian be from three countries ? Anyway, I bought three different types of mixed blends and hope for the best. I got a cup of their coffee Americano with a dash of milk, and it was served tepid. The baristas basically just serve up and when I said the coffee was lukewarm, he offered a fresh cup, but it was too late. He did not really want to give anyway, and I could see his attitude. I would never go again.

A rather confined space this with very limited seating in the body of the cafe and on high stools around the edge. A mocha served with a flowery pattern in the froth was worth the wait, although I had nearly finished a small raspberry doughnut before it had been made. Finding a seat was far from straightforward with seats reserved for spouses returning from nearby toilets or occupied by bags and coats.

Tiny place, not a lot of seating, but very good coffee - although expensive! £4.60 for a decaf oat milk flat white (!!). Almost £5 for coffee is wild. but it was delicious and the staff friendly.

No good if you're looking to do some work. Very loud music - can be clearly heard even when wearing noise-cancelling headphones - and the room temperature downstairs is a few degrees below friendly!

Good iced americano but pricey. However it was good and refreshing in the heat. Service was pleasant but could be friendlier and faster. Painfully slow despite three or four staff available. Limited seating inside and outside. Inside was baking they need air conditioning in the summer. Small space. Nice small selection of cakes, cookies, savoury bites and more. I just had the iced americano. Clean. Wifi was average.

We visited Redemption Roasters for morning coffee on the basis of a TV article (some time ago) about the story behind “The world’s first behind the bars coffee roastery” and the coffee shop opening in Coal Drops Yard. We visited on a sunny winter morning and the area was busy. There was almost no queue at the ordering point so we were able to quickly order our refreshments. What I did not realise was the queue waiting to collect snaked around the small shop and then continued outside. I would like to say that the long wait was worth it, but instead all I can say was that the coffee and cakes were good, but not exceptional. The shop has some inside seating, but we ended up sharing a table with strangers outside. Redemption Roasters is much better than any of the chain coffee shops, and you know that your purchase is supporting a good cause.

This is a lovely little independent coffee shop in the very on-trend Coal Drops Yard. The name comes from the fact that the roasters are inmates at Aylesbury Prison. Srvice was a little slow, but the coffee is worth it.
