Red Rose Lounge in Havant

Red Rose lounge was recommended to me over a decade ago and I’ve never been anywhere else since. The food is always exceptional and the chef always does me a chicken tikka massala Madras hot which I absolutely love. Last night I went ordered two chef’s specials, Gujarati lamb Massala and a Spicy vegetarian Naga Curry, well what can I say but they were awesome, my wife said it was possibly the best spicy dish she’s ever had, the taste of the Naga and spices blowing her away. Keep up the unfaltering good work guys and see you soon.

Always a very friendly place to be, they always go above and beyond and when asking my 8 year old where he wants to eat its always here. The food is lovely too. Tony is always making sure customers are happy and gives my son an ice cream when we come as a family of 3 regularly. 😊

We made a large delivery order for 8 people at around 7 pm on Saturday night 21/9 having eaten many times at The Red Rose lounge and it has always been great food but just wanted to say a big thank you for getting the food to us in about 50 mins and the order was perfect nothing wrong or missing and all the food was delicious- Thank you from 8 very happy diners!

Having recently moved - I have tried most Indian Restaurant’s throughout havant, denmead and waterloovile and the red rose for me never fails to please our family! Staff all very polite and warming, food is always fresh and delicious and the costs beat any restaurants by a country mile! However never seems that busy in the restaurant which is a shame! All in all it’s well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Had Goan chicken & side order of Sags, chilli cheese narns, and more at a very reasonable price. Don't be fooled by the outside they are probably open and well worth a visit. Very hospitable too.

What a lovely place to have a meal from being from outside of Portsmouth and being to many Indian restaurants around the country has to up there with the best will be back without doubt please try you will not regret

Recently discovered this excellent restaurant, great for takeaway and eating in.

Very disappointing takeaway curry from Red Rose Lounge so will not be returning. We ordered the Harri Massala (chicken tikka) and Halim Sag (vegetarian), neither of which matched the description on the menu. There was no evidence of green peppers or other claimed ingredients in the Harri Massala, which had an unexpected sweet/sour taste with very little chicken. The Halim Sag had no discernable vegetables and also didn't match the menu description. We also ordered a large Tarka Dhall which had no substance (consistency like water and no taste) so very poor value.

Decided to try this place as it had good reviews on TA. We have a curry (usually takeaway) nearly every week and have eaten many, many Indian meals. We were very disappointed with our meal from Red Rose, although the menu was impressive. The poppodoms were fine, but unfortunately it went downhill from there. My vegetable main course was a spinach and lentil dish, but I tasted neither of these flavours. It was a greasy dish of nondescript veg, mostly onion. My partner’s chicken dish was of poor meat quantity, and tasted very sweet. The Tarka Dhal was tasteless liquid. Rice was average. Had really been looking forward to trying this place so very disappointed, particularly as we had driven from Emsworth to try it!

Recently found out I have a food intolerance to Dairy & Gluten, many places do not cater for these allergies, which is really disappointing when you love Indian food! Thankfully Red Rose Lounge DO cater for many allergies & the gentleman we saw was very helpful & their menu clearly stated the dishes containing/not containing specific ingredients, which was a blessing for me & so much choice, it was wonderful when I have to be careful! Our dinner was lovely & kept hot as we had it as a takeaway, we will definitely be returning as i struggle finding places to eat out & as this is a Restaurant as well so we can still enjoy our nights out! I feel this is so important to many people as intolerance with food is becoming more & more common. I can’t comment on ‘atmosphere’ as we went not long after they had opened & it was a Sunday, however takeaways seemed popular even at that early time! Not the greatest curry I have had and like a lot of food deliveries quality does suffer by the time is gets to the door. Manager did contact me to resolve a dispute once I raised a concern,. So I would give 5 stars to the management and 1 star for food and delivery time, so averaged to 3.

Good food, delivered at the time requested and good value for money. We had a slight issue with a delivery the previous week, these things happen and I believe it may have been the delivery agents fault, not the fault of the Red Rose Lounge. However once they were made aware they could not have done more to ensure it was rectified. Really good customer service, I would recommend using this restaurant and takeaway.

We had dinner here on Wed 21st Dec, my daughter always orders the same which is not on the menu and the red rose always accommodates. Tony is a great host and food always great.

No complaint here, we had take away from here which wasn't the best decided never to use again, thought would try sitting in and it was much much better, they have a sauce of there own which I might say is delicious, will eat again but won't have it as take away

I'm sorry but the meal we had for 8 people last Saturday night, 26 November was poor. I was embarrassed to take my family there. We waited over an hour for the meal to arrive. When the food arrived most of the food was cold to the touch and had to go back to be microwaved. The portion size was too small and there was hardly any meat. I know chicken has increased in price but it was litterally half a portion it used to be a month ago. The chicken dices were sliced into small strips. The bill was £174. It will be a long time before we go back again. The restaurant must improve.

I feel bad for writing this review as we have previously used Red rose lounge on many occasions (for takeaway and once inside) but decided to have a night out to eat in instead. We booked a table. Arrived on time, not greeted or acknowledged, waited for a bit before finding someone to sit us. A female waitress came over and offered us a table, we would have liked another table but she looked at the other tables and basically just said no.. have this one. (No reserved signs on the tables we wanted) We sat down, the drinks menu was on the table so we had a look at that. Took about 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention.. she came over (begrudgingly it seemed) and took our drink order.. it took a few attempts to point out what we wanted as she didn't seem to know anything on the menu. We had 2 amaretto and coke mixer. Coke was flat. Not great drinks. We also asked for a menu so we can have a look. She huffed and walked away. Eventually got back with 1 menu. Then she walked back to get another. Don't know why she just didn't pick up 2 to start with? She just chucked the menus down. The main man came over to make sure we ordered drinks, he also asked if we would like poppadoms which we happily said, yes please. (Something the waitress should have done) When the waitress could be bothered to come and take our order, we ordered. Again zero knowledge of the menu. We had to point out and repeat ourselves to what we wanted. We had Tiger prawn puri Mixed kebab starter Lamb harri massala Garlic chilli shaslick lamb tikka Pilau rice Chips Garlic naan. It took some time to get the food, but it was OK to wait. I would have loved to enjoy the "ambiance and atmosphere" but there was zero. We wanted another drink so collared a chap behind the bar. We asked for 2 white wine spritzers. He too seemed to have not much knowledge of drinks. We ended up with 2 large glasses of white wine. My husband had to go up and ask him for lemonade, which he brought separately. So there was a little mess when we had to empty some wine out of our glass to then pour the lemonade in. Poppadoms came and the raita sauce was like water. Couldn't dip it. So we asked if it could be changed. The waitress then changed it for another which was a little better. Starters came. Was ok. Mains then came when we finished starters. All was OK until my husband realised his was actually chicken and not the lamb tikka he had ordered. He went to the bar and spoke to a man who pulled up the order and confirmed that it should have been lamb tikka. I pretty much finished mine before his correct dish came out. I always like the taste of the Harri massala but both mine and my husbands meat was tiny. Tiny cubes of lamb and not many of them! Glad I had the chips and rice to soak up the suace which was 95% of the dish it seemed. We finished and were casually chatting and laughing with the table next to us who had also pointed out how terrible the female waitress was. Chucking napkins at them pretty much and just her general attitude was not good at all! Mabe she was having a bad day? Maybe she was new? I don't know. But unfortunately we have decided not to go back. We may get a takeaway in the future but won't go inside. The main man did come and apologise and had a bit of banter with him. He seemed to have "compensated" us by giving us a shot of baileys it seemed. Although I'm pretty sure everyone gets one of these after their meal anyway. Decor needs to be updated and more tranquil. Maybe bring a bit of India into your restaurant and make it feel a bit warm with decor? Also background music would be a good touch. As for the service. Something needs to change! Such a shame as we are normally happy with the food although usually alot smaller portions than any other Indian establishments. But usually made better with their rich flavours.

Cancelled our take away order with no warning or reason. Cheers for that. Just saw your reply. I did as you said a checked with ubereats. You cancelled the order 30 mins after it was placed, no reason given, you said your reason was no delivery drivers available. Odd as uber eats have their own drivers. Looking at your other reviews I think I may have dodged a bullet anyway.

I've never eaten inside of the restaurant but I order takeaway from these guys all the time. Always comes pretty quick, the order is never wrong and the food is always hot. But most importantly it tastes really good too so yeah, best curry place to order takeaway from by far!

Do not order from these on a Saturday...we ordered at 7pm and got our delivery at 8.45pm. Food was cold and disgusting...the only reason I ate it was because i was so hungry.Please dont say it will be an hour when you know its going to be more like 2, terrible service.

Best Indian about if you want to order i highly recommend calling and making a order not Uber or just eat Because the time they get to you the food is cold yet phoning and ordering is very fast 10/10 delivery though the phone no complaints at all.

Over the years I’ve experienced many a Korma. From the heart of London to the outskirts of Wales and Red Rose Lounge really steps up to the mark. Their portions are larger than most and the quality isn’t lost either. Would highly recommend to a friend. To earn 5 stars i’d recommend they change their answer machine message (worth a listen for a laugh) and remove the advertisement that they offer 10% discount on cash purchases (they do not). Still, worth a try

Ordering online is so quick and easy, with a really comprehensive and helpful menu layout. For the first time in years I had a biryani last night, the Red Rose Special......it was exceptionally good. It was good to see you about again Tony. Keep delivering!

We have had an excellent meal from Tony and his team. The delivery did not take long and the flavours excellent. I can recommend the Chicken Jhal Merchi. The delivery person was very friendly but above else the food is excellent and well presented. I thoroughly recommend Red Rose Lounge.

Had a delicious dinner last nite from red rose lounge. They delivered within the hour and as always we enjoyed a really tasty curry with moist chicken and so flavoursome.

Have used the Red Rose takeaway/delivery service several times during lockdown and they have been excellent. Lovely food and sensible prices. Whats more it is great for someone like myself who only wants one meal as the minimum spend is only £12. A lot of similar takeaways locally price themselves out of the running by insisting on too high a minimum spend. They need to learn from the Red Roses example.Well done Red Rose, you will have my custom for a long time yet

Absolutely 500% superb in every way. Ordering was as easy as falling off a log. Requested delivery for around 18.30 it arrived around 18.10 piping hot and well presented. The driver was really friendly even taking time to make a fuss of our cat who was lying on the step.Next, came the tasting of the food. It was plentiful with decent sized portions and the taste was supreme.We will most definitely be a returning customer whether that be eat-in or home delivery takeaway. The distance they deliver to is greater than others in the area too, which is great.Due to COVID-19 this review is for delivery and NOT travelling

First time we have ordered from here. Normally go else where. Food was amazing and thoroughly tasty. This will be our preferential choice.

Thought we'd try this one as it had so many positive reviews. The food got here in the expected time. While the food was edible, its about as poor as we've had from an Indian restaurant. The food was bland, and though I am a fan of saucey dishes, the dishes we had were in a very thin liquid sauce. We spent £30 for 2 x mains, 2 x rice, 2 x sundries and a chapati. All in all, very disappointing food.

Thank you to the Red Rose Lounge for another great meal! Came here on a Saturday night and as usual very happy with the service. We tried the new menu which contained some interesting dishes. Chose the Aloo Tikka Paneer with chicken which tasted amazing - cheese and potatoes in a curry just taste devine. Thank you all for a wonderful meal. Look forward to the next visit!

This is a 1st for me from this place i ordered a take away from there own website on a Saturday night and it took 1hr 10mins to get 5mins up the road and when it arrived it was cold and after reheating it was not great so lesson learned go get it your self next time !

Wow. What an absolute gem of a find. This restaurant also does takeaways and all you can eat buffets on certain days. The food absolutely delicious, presentation and extensive menu divine, we tried one of their new naan breads, chocolate and garlic 🥰 wow was blown away as wasn't sure about the flavour combo, but it was delicious and a new favourite. Tony, Amir and the rest of the team are attentive but respectful of not rushing your dining experience . They cater for those who have food intolerances, and are knowledgeable about their dishes. First time visiting here, won't be our last, it really was a lovely evening spent here tonight and highly recommend to everyone .

A lovely restaurant, which is well laid out, with plenty of space between tables. Service was very good. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from on the menu. You can take your own wine/beer, so evening out is less expensive. Definitely worth a visit

Quite quiet as it was Tuesday, but food was excellent and waiter on duty very polite and attentive. Menu was extensive with lots of choice. Toilets were immaculate, which is rare in some restaurants in the area. Highly recommended Indian restaurant. We will be back.

Food was ok. My family always enjoy here. For me the food has got more expensive over the years and had sugar in everything which puts me off being asian. It more catering for english people. New menu was good but still suger kills a curry for me. Too sweet.

My husband and I are quite fussy with where we order our Indian takeaway from so we decided to try out the Red Rose as an alternative to our usual Indian, by dropping in to have a restaurant meal there. The manager was so friendly and kind to us and had a lovely long chat with us. The food was amazing. He had heard my husband likes extra garlic and made sure that it was catered for when we ordered. That was a few weeks back.This evening we ordered in from home and we were not disappointed. The food was fantastic! We are converted! Red Rose from now on!

We came here as it was near the phoenix club where we play darts. The food was lovely but a little bit pricey. And when the bill came we asked about the 10% off and they said that it only count when you book a table but it doesn't mention that on the A4 sign on the door so we think the should say it on the big sign and not just in very small writing on the menu on the door

Made a trip to Portsmouth after a long time and couldn’t resist popping into my favourite Indian restaurant.

Table booked for 7.30pm on a Saturday, and the restaurant was about 3/4 full. We were shown to our table within 5 minutes, and all seemed well, with the drinks and poppadoms arriving in 10 minutes. Our order was then taken about 10 minutes later. And we waited. And waited. A half hour later we had to ask where our starters were. The same thing happened with our mains. We left the restaurant closer to 10pm, and at no point during the evening did the staff apologise for the long wait, and inn fact almost seemed to hide away from us. We were really patient, and only chased up the starter and main course delays once. We assume there was a staff issue in the kitchen, but nobody actually told us. The lack of communication was very disappointing. The food when it arrived was very good, hence the 3 star rating. If the service had been better, it would have been 5 stars.

After-work curry early in the evening. Very quiet (it was 6pm!) so not much atmosphere but great curry and buts & pieces. We all commented that it was an excellent curry with great choice. Definitely go again work and pleasure.

Chicken Tikka Main was awful re-heated meat. Tasted off even though they had re-heated with what can only be described as fajita spices. Other dishes were over cooked/re-heated also. Also the guy I placed order with was rude and it was very obvious he didn't want to be doing his job. Avoid!!!

FIRTS TIME EXPERIENCE I personally think that there customer service is bad I placed a order for around £30 and was told the food would take 45 minutes to 1 hour which is a standard time frame. The food was not here within 1 hour and FORTY Five minutes so I cancelled the order over the phone to call the normal Indain restaurant I use which is masala Hut Would highly recommend it friendly on time and amazing food these guys are a joke and still turned up continuously ringing the buzzer after cancelling 1 hour 45 mins of waiting!
