Red Onion in Barnet

Been using this restaurant for a long time, used to be owned by Maz, lovly guy, but since new owners took over, will not be using it again. Over charged on one occasion, boss at the time apologised, think he was called Raman? Ordered on 14 july 2022, guy did bring card machine, WOULD NOT LET ME HAVE MY FOOD UNTIL I CALLED THE RESTAURANT to make payment. I asked if I could eat while food waa still hot but he said NO, you have to pay first. I had intended to eat then call the restaurant. I phoned to complain today and was more or less told 'if you dont want to ea here anymore, dont.'

Have eaten in here many times over last 30 years and food has always been good. Chef exceptionally helpful and will always adapt spiciness of a dish to your taste.

Always has been a firm favourite Indian with us, but were definitely let down by these lovely people on Wednesday evening, when I invited 4 friends to join me for my husband`s birthday evening. A warm welcome, but the food was only average in quality and poor presentation for the three Thalis we ordered in particular. I had booked table for six and they were aware it was a Birthday meal, but this was totally ignored. Maybe a small cake confection could have finished the evening or a complimentary liquor/coffee could have rounded the evening off. No atmosphere or banter from staff after we spent a lot of money and a generous tip. We regularly order a delivery, where the food is fresh and well put together and always have been extremely satisfied. What is happening? Realise there is more competition in East Barnet now, but have always been a faithful customer. Will think twice about visiting to eat another time. Would be nice for some kind of apology and explanation. Thank you in advance.

As per title. Takes some effort to make a curry bland, but they managed to do just so with every dish we ordered for take away. Disappointing.

Though renovated the food is superb. I miss the old cosy place but still visit them for a good curry.

Love this place. The food and service are excellent and good value. I especially like the Chicken Bombay.

Nice food, good value, great service, nice wine, we come here a lot, especially like the Bombay Chicken.

Sunday Buffet Eat as much as you like very good value. We also had a vegetarian with as so they did a extra dish for him. My only disappointment was the onion Bhajees was not up to their normal standard. Very good quality lamb.

A Friday night takeaway fit for a King!After a while of not having an indian takeaway, this was a great reminder of what I'd been missing!A tandoori mix, a masala, rice, chat aloo, naan were just some of the highlights that arrived!The guy that delivered this feast was nice and friendly, much like all the staff I've met whilst picking up a takeaway or eating in the restaurant.This is yet again another 5 star rating, this was my original hidden diamond in East Barnet!

We ordered a take away a 6pm and was told 45 mins max. 1 hour later still nothing so i rang up and they said a few more minutes and it will be there. 10 minutes later still nothing so rang up once again, after a couple of minutes of finding where it is they said it was sent to the wrong address, they then said they can re order it but another 45 minutes to wait, which to me is not good enough. I will never use them again as i am very disappointed with their service.

The Sunday buffet here is very good. It is not too noisy like some places. Food all freshly cooked. Great service.

This is our first visit under the newish management (they have been here 18 months) and we found the food to be excellent, the service efficient and friendly and the manager oversaw everything ran smoothly. Recommended!

We looked for an Indian restaurant as we were in the area and found this lovely family run restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We thought it was reasonably priced and would definitely go again!

We went to the Red Onion for a birthday dinner. There was 9 of us on a Thursday night. The service , food and value were brilliant. We will definitely be going back.

We went in and it was banquet night £8.95 for a starter, main and a rice or naan. The food was lovely and came to our tables quickly and hot. Service was great and we were welcomed very warmly. We will most certainly be back. Great food at a good price what more could you ask for?

Since finding Red Onion, this has become my favourite Indian restaurant and it has yet to disappoint me!

Ordered a Thali for 1. For those of you who dont know Its usually 8/9 items (Tasters)

Good food and a big selection. The lunchtime buffet is also very good. However, the restaurant is quite small and the cleanliness of cutlery plates and cups isn't always the best. Mango lassi isn't very good

Red Onion can only be described as a hidden gem within East Barnet, a little restaurant that offers so much.
