A last minute, let's go out for dinner moment! Not disappointed, food was great. Thank you Malik for the attentive service, a nice and relaxing evening!

We go here as a group at least once a month for a work reunion and catch up. The food is always excellent, as is the service. Malik is a great host. The Cobra and Madri beers are lovely and cold, and the wine goes great with the delicious curry.

Lovely meal on Tuesday evening celebrating recent GCSE results for the youngest. Brilliant starters arrived really quickly, between us for main we had a Pasanda, Tikka Masala, Balti, Lamb Chop and a Biryani, all were excellent (the balti was a bit hot for the father in law😂)

Another super take away Pappadums and chutney-Lamb Jalferezi ( quite hot with several chillies in)and pillau rice -my wife chose just a starter of delicious Vegetable Bhaji .Enough left for tomorrow. Called in tonight for a drink and a take away curry- ordered Tandoori Chicken main which is two pieces of Tandoori Chicken Pilau rice and a curry sauce( I chose the plain Jalferezi sauce) my wife chose the Vegetable Pathia which was also nice and spicy. We had papadum starters with chutney and onion bhaji.Delicious and enough left for tomorrow night’s meal. Thank you Malik and especially chef you are a star!!

Visited as a group of Probus members who first played French Boules in then garden . Afterwards we were treated to an excellent meal. Pappadoms with chutneys, a choice of Onion Bhajis,Chicken Chat or Shish Kebab. Main meal Lamb and Chicken Kolcutta, served mild, medium or hot,Pillau rice and Naan bread. Two of our group chose Scampi and chips. All the above at a very reasonable price. Thank you to the excellent chef, Malik the boss and Adele. I’m sure this will be an Annual event. Thanks again

This is only our 2nd visit to this Indian Restaurant/ Bar. On this occasion we were served by Mr Singh, who was not only professional, but exceptionally helpful and friendly. My husband and I both selected Chicken Shashlik with a Madras Curry, pilau rice/keema nan and chips. Our food was fresh/ succulent and tasty. We wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend. Well done Mr Singh, keep up all your efforts and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

I had been in the Red lion before for drinks but hadn’t tried the food. As I was drinking I could smell the food being taken out to the diners in the restaurant side and couldn’t resist any longer. I asked if a takeaway was possible. I ordered and once it was bagged up I took it home. The food was fresh and so tasty. I will be going back for more.

Terrific meal with family. Delicious food, friendly service and a doggy bag for the leftovers. We’re lucky to have ‘The Red’ as our local Indian restaurant.

Been working local to this little diamond of a pub/Indian restaurant for the last few months and have visited several times Each time I have been royally looked after by Mr Malik, his hospitality is exceptional The menu is extensive, so much so that have only been able to sample a small selection of what is available but suffice to say each time I have eaten here has been better than the previous visit, superb food, presentation and quantity Do not miss this place, even got football on the telly and a pool table too 5 stars every time !!!!!!

I go here regularly and the food never disappoints. King prawn dishes are delicious. We had a a pint in the bar and watched the live premier league game, then went in the restaurant for the meal (and watched the next one). Cant think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the village.

I had a chicken tikka bhuna, vindaloo hotness, with a garlic coriander naan take away last Friday, it was the most authentic Indian cuisine I have tasted. Excellent.

The main bar is laid out like a school dining room. This is apt because the lads serving at the bar appear to be of school age, dressed really casually in trackies and trainers. 17 of us had an excellent evening at the Red Lion on 24/12/18 - only 10 managed to pre book but Sophie and the kitchen staff worked tirelessly to serve us all from different menues, various courses and all perfectly timed. I've been calling into this pub for 30 years and never seen it looking so sad for itself. Very run down and dirty looking. Not inviting at all. Please sort this out. The Red Lion could be a lovely venue.

Being Gresford residents for the past 28 years. I would love this to be an inviting pub. First impressions are always the most important. I know you are decorating the inside. But you need to do something about the outside,. Windows are rotten and dirty. disgusting curtains.It makes you think. If they can't be bothered, what is the kitchen like. Why would anybody get dressed up to go there. In the past it was an OK pub. food was OK. Used to go now and again. I would go again if you made some sort of effort. Why not do nice fresh meals not out of the microwave. Please do something with this pub or otjerwise it will close down.

Average meal , cheap price for what you got, not bad for the price, but if you want classy food, go to the places where its more expensive.

Called in on our way back from Chester after Xmas shopping. We wish we hadnt.I ordered two beef Sunday Lunches, they came in about 5 minutes, which is a bad sign....(I didnt hear the microwave dinging though).The veg was served in little piles of cold sloppy gunge, two paper thin slices of beef, fried roast potatoes....but the best was the gravy, the best description for it was 'water thin tea', no taste and it poured and looked like a cup of tea.We did complain but all we got was "I'm sorry". The beer was good though.I would not recommend this pub to eat at to anyone. My wife and I will certainly not enter through it's doors ever again.

We live within walking distance of this pub and never visit but prefer to go to so many near by pubs with quality food and surroundings.

Oh dear. Really cheap Sunday Lunch. Poor quality. Small, thinly sliced portions of meat, turkey and beef, but veg OK, they ran out of peas though. Sticky table as well. Used to be a good eating place, but not for us any more. They are trying hard to please, with "New Chef, New Menu" advertised, but we shan't be back. Such a pity.

Awful food and shocking service. I found 3 hairs in my food and when I challenged it they didn't even apologise. There was poo all over the walls in the toilet and you could smell it whilst we were at our table. Awful place. Do not visit!!!!!

Faultless service, friendly and attentive staff. Hot delicious three course Christmas menu. Garlic mushrooms for starter, delicious and a generous portion. Beef, yorkshire pudding, boiled and roast potatoes and an amazing gravy with an extra gravy boat and cranberry and bread sauces. There was also a generous selection of parsnips, sprouts and carrots served in separate vegetable dishes across our table and for dessert I enjoyed a banoffee sundae dessert. Excellent value for money... Highly recommend and intend returning soon.

i've eaten here and the food was ok, basic but good for the price..no frills.However I have since been twice to eat and been turned away, once because there was a private party and once because it was just after 7pm on a Sunday and they had stopped serving, went to the local Chinese instead which was lovely.This is very disappointing, won't go out of my way to eat here again.This seems to be a problem as another family member went to eat there and wasn't able, check if they are serving before you go.

We took my mother in law out for a meal here last Saturday night and was very impressed. We usually call for lunch every third week when we visit but as we were down for the weekend thought that we would eat at night. In the week prior to our visit the landlord phoned out of courtesy to let us know that the pub would probably be full at the time we had booked the table for as Wales were playing rugby. We therefore moved or booking slightly later. What a very nice thought. The food was excellent, both in taste and value, the staff were excellent too and we shall definitely return. We recently called at the red lion as we often do on a Friday evening for tea. We had walked from the next village and were looking forward to a relaxing glass of wine and a good meal. On arriving there it was very busy but we managed to find a table. My partner made his way to the bar having to negotiate a large noisy group of people who obviously were oblivious to other customers. After paying nine pounds for a glass of wine and a pint of larger my partner returned to our table with a menu. We made our choice almost immediately and my partner returned to the bar to order. At this point he was told that they had "stopped"serving food. We were very disappointed as there was no indication of this and food is normally served till 9 and it was only ten past seven. we sat and finished our drinks looking enviously as customers continued to be served food. Also a group that had arrived after us managed to place an order. We were told this was because they had booked. Surely a sign should have been placed at the bar or the staff should have told customers when ordering drinks that no food was available. Most people go there to eat so surely it makes good customer service as we would never have spent 25 minutes walking there to be told we couldn't eat.also there was obviously a chef on duty as the group who had "booked" were able to place an order. We sat and made our decision to walk back home and pick up a Chinese meal. My partner and myself both work for company's where customer service is paramount to the success of business and I feel that the people running this establishment need to engage more in the organization of their pub. This was reinforced when I discovered that amongst the "large noisy group" at the bar was the landlady herself obviously enjoying herself but oblivious to her disgruntled customers. I realise that our order may not have been important to them or the money we would have spent may not be missed but reputation is crucial in any business and although normally I am not a complainer I do feel that by writing this the people who run this pub may take my comments on board and improve their communication with customers.if you want a warm welcome and good food the red lion married is not the place to go!!

A clean and spacious lounge bar serving freshly cooked food with a good range of food. Staff were polite and smiley and the food piping hot and fresh.i would recommend the pub as great value for money especially the 2 for 1 grill menu.

Booked in at last minute following trip to the zoo. We were a party of 7 adults and 7 children. The staff were both efficient and friendly. The food was very tasty and served up quickly. As it was my granddaughters birthday we had bought a cake and the staff kindly brought the cake out with candles lit and played happy birthday, she was thrilled. This pub is excellent for service, quality and value for money. We all enjoyed our visit and hope to return when next in the area.

Whilst looking for a place to eat out we came across this pub on trip advisor. When we arrived we were greeted by the barman who gave us our menus and said to sit wherever we liked. So we sat by the window.Just as we were about to order my wife noticed a rather large ant colony behind one of the curtains. Needless to say we beat a hasty retreat never to return.

As a local I frequent this pub occasionally for a pint or two. Tonight I went there for a meal and was not disappointed. We had 2 main courses.. a simple, but we'll presented, chicken and bacon salad and a grilled chicken sizzling platter plus a side of fries and a bottle of Chilean Carmenere which was a notch up from typical pub house wine. All this for £31! The place was busy as it was quiz night and our timing meant a wait for the food to arrive. Better to wait than hear the Bing of a microwave! Would have liked to give 5 stars but this is a pub, not a restaurant, and my rating reflects this. At this affordable price I will definitely be going back on a fairly regular basis.

Just what we wanted, not a Gastro pub or an over priced resteraunt just good honest food at reasonable prices. We had never been to this place before but the welcome from staff and regulars alike was warm and friendly. My wife and I both had steak for our main course, I like mine pnik and my wife likes it cooked through but not burnt. Both arrived exactly as ordered, not always the case even in much more expensive places as my wife will testify. Not a lot else to say reallly, easy to find and ample parking, suggest you book though as it does get busy

I dropped in for something to eat on a Saturday night. The place was extremely crowded but the bar staff went out of their way to set up a small table for me. I had the beef and ale pie and an ale on tap. Both were excellent and great value for money. I would highly recommend this pub for a meal.

Very nice attentive staff. Just called in for a drink and had a curry as it was 'curry night'! Spacious and clean. Not a lot of choice of real ales, but that wasn't a problem. Can't understand the couple of bad reviews this place has because we were very satisfied. Good location for us for an evening because we were just 5 mins down the road at the Premier Inn.

Brought the family out for a late lunch earlier in the week. Plenty of tables, clean, good service with advise on saver menu from well presented staff. Had a lovely meal (steak burger is excellent) and a couple of drinks. Great value when the bill came :) family all went home smiling and I think we've found a new regular venue! Ive visited the red lion for lunch and had a light bite when we arrived we were very welcomed the food was exceptional we didnt even have to go to the bar we were seated and explained all the menus then half way through our meal we were asked if everything was ok with our meals "scrumptious" and asked again at the end of our meal, my brother and parents returned several times after that, then we booked for a 30th birthday I rang up to book for a table of 15 people the gentleman I spoke to went through the specials it was grill night 2 for the price of one "awesome" when we arrived we were welcomed yet again and the table was ready all layed out for us, the lounge was quite busy but still nothing too much trouble for the staff I asked if I could put some banners up they got some blue tac the food was "scrumptious " yet again. Can I just say on behalf of me and my family a huge Thank You to all the staff for making the night so special and would recommend this place 'Yes we will be returning '

Second time been for lunch as like to give people a second chance. What a bad decision . Hair in food , all meals came at different times , food tasted of washing up liquid and bread stale . Such a pity

Having read all the reviews we thought we'd give it a try.First impressions was that it is extremely small...only **9** tables!!! All but 1 were empty so after getting drinks from the bar we headed to a table. It was reserved so we went to the next one, reserved, and the next one and the one after that. In fact every table (all 9 of them) were reserved. We enquired at the bar as to where we were to sit to enjoy our drinks and maybe order some food only to be told that we couldn't sit down. It was 6.35 on a Saturday evening and were told that all the tables were booked from 7.30. The staff behind the bar were totally uninterested and we were made to stand with our drinks while being surrounded by empty tables.WHY would you reserve tables an hour before they are needed? And WHY would you reserve every table you have in such a small restaurant on a busy roadside? You must be losing money hand over fist from passing trade, work it out, 8 empty tables for 1 hour.....ridiculous! Needles to say we had to leave our drinks as we had nowhere to sit to enjoy them and headed into town to a real restaurant. So If your looking for a cosy out of town restaurant or a quiet drink DONT head here as you'll be wasting your fuel, unless you don't mind standing that is!

My family had an excellent meal here this evening, the 6 of us chose off the grill menu and the steaks ordered were cooked just as we asked for. The price was reasonable with two eating for the price of one. I am now tempted to call back tomorrow evening for the curry night. I will definitely be calling here again and have no hesitation in recommending the food and service.

I have visited the pub on several occasions over the past few months and would highly recommend it. The food has always been great, the drinks are well priced, but most importantly the service has been excellent. I have been to quite a few places nearby and this wins hands down. The staff are always friendly and polite, they always seem to be doing everything the can to make sure you're happy. You can tell its a great place to be as the atmosphere is very good and the staff are always smiling. Will be revisiting again very very soon!

Visited 2 Sundays before Christmas. Got a table easily enough though, surprising for what is billed on tripadvisor as the number 1 restaurant in Wrexham! Got a table in the window and ordered from the impressive pub menu. Bbq chicken, kids burger, steak and ale pie and a sirloin steak, ordered medium rare. £40 is excellent value, but the food was, as expected for £40. The sirloin steak was overcooked and I'm certain it was done under the grill. Not great... No complaints though, why? Because it was £10, although having said that.... Wetherspoons always seem to get it right; for less. Steak and ale pie drew a 7/10 and a 'it wasn't handmade' comment from the Mrs. Kids meals were ok too. Far from poor, Marstons Ale was lovely. But I was asked twice when my meal arrived (in quick succession) if everything was ok, as if they knew it wasn't. Chef shouldn't really have let the steak out of the kitchen, it was overcooked, in a peculiar way.... (Where else cooks steak under a grill nowadays?)Cheap and cheerful though, not 'bad' by any stretch. Might revisit, but would stick with burgers, or fish n chips.

There is always a lovely welcoming atmosphere in the Red. The staff are friendly & make you feel that you are among friends. The food is very tasty & they run some good offers to ensure you get value for money. Always a warm welcome at The Red Lion something for everyones tastes whether its a relaxing drink which is always of the best quality or a supberb meal for the family. Would recommend the Gammon as I work my way through their new menu. Looking forward to my next visit to The Red for the Andy Kane night. Well worth a visit.

A party of 11 have just visited the Red Lion for Christmas Lunch and everyone was delighted with the meal.Table looked festive and staff were very welcoming. The service was excellent and served with a smile, nothing too much trouble. All agreed that they would visit again.

Ate here with friends for the first time in a few years and was really impressed with the welcome! Ordered the vegetarian sizzling skillet and it was really good value and perfectly cooked. Stayed longer than we had planned as the atmosphere was great and the staff were lovely. Will be visiting again soon.

Great atmosphere, and great food. All the staff were really friendly and they make a real effort to make sure that everything is how you want it. I was really happy and will definitely be back.
