Red Lion Inn - Shamley Green in Waverley

A group of 12 friends met at The Red Lion for lunch. The service was excellent - friendly & efficient. There was a good choice of food, it was all served together & was very enjoyable. Hopefully we'll visit again when in the area.

Our first visit to the Red Lion for a family Sunday lunch / birthday celebration. Received a warm welcome from Sean and his team. Lovely / friendly service with a personal touch, creating a warm atmosphere. The freshly cooked food was excellent - so tasty, well presented and generous portions. Best Sunday lunch we've enjoyed for some time. Highly recommend - we will certainly return!

We booked the Red Lion for a family lunch on Easter Monday, after reading the reviews and were not disappointed. The pub is located in a classic English village green setting. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and shown straight to our table. The high chair that I had rebooked was already in place. The menu is very good, Plenty of variety to meet most peoples preferences without being over the top. The food we had was very good quality, freshly prepared and very well cooked. Overall a good choice and would recommend to others.

What a lovey pub, I went with two friends to celebrate my birthday, we hadnt been to the Red Lion for many many years and it was just fantastic. The staff were so friendly (but not over friendly - it was just really natural, they obviously all enjoy their jobs) and the food was excellent. We had the best evening and will certainly be returning soon.

Beautiful place, ideal for a large family meet up. 10 of us met for lunch. Children and dogs were made most welcome. The food was superb and the service exemplary. Can't recommend it enough.

Had an amazing Saturday lunch with my bro and his better half. They pre-booked the table and Sean kindly gave us his best table in the pub, right next to the fire. Perfick on a cold Feb day after a long mtb ride. Service was above and beyond exemplary. A supremely relaxed, yet well oiled and informed team guided us through the drinks and menu recommendations when we couldnt decide. They are a wonderful bunch. Big shout out to Sean and Griff, who was amazing with my young son Leo. We cant stop thinking about Margret's homemade Puddings! They are off the scale. This is the first time Ive felt compelled to write a review of anywhere on Trip advisor, so thats testament to how good the experience was.

First visit and will definitely be returning after a stunning 3 course Sunday lunch Just the right amount of choice..The mackerel pate to start, followed by the pork belly with a decent amount of crackling!! In theory at this point there was no room for a dessert but they all sounded so tempting and homemade... I found room and am so glad I did as the pecan and bourbon tart was just the perfect end.... if only I could get the recipe..and have this p7b closer to me!!!! This was my second visit to The Red Lion, and I'm already looking forward to the third! This delightful pub is the perfect place to enjoy some incredible food and a pint or two. I was there for Sunday lunch and had the pork belly which was absolutely divine. Our party shared pretty much all of the deserts between us and I don't know how I would choose a single one if I had to! Honestly the food at this place is next level, you will not be going home hungry or unsatisfied!

OMG! I've been before, and I'll come again, because by god its the best pub food (or food in general) around! I'm normally always let down by a pub roast, but not here. And we shared 4 of the desserts and I think I went to heaven...! (Basque cheesecake, flourless brownie, bourbon pecan pie, ginger treacle pudding) Incredible food, even better service, and great vibe/feel to the pub. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

Great menu to suit range of ages, likes and dislikes amongst family as well as needing 1 x gluten free. Allergy taken seriously, menu adapted to suit. Staff knowledgeable, helpful and friendly with suggestions. All the food was delicious. Nice to go somewhere for proper home cooking and pub grub. Special shout out to broccoli soup with almonds and a bit of a spicy kick and the lemon meringue roulade was heaven.

Today we enjoyed another fantastic meal at The Red Lion. This place never disappoints. Our son, who has coeliac disease, so needs to eat a completely gluten free diet, loves eating here. Sean, the owner, is very knowledgeable and reassuring and delivers every time. Most roasts can be adapted but today he opted for the burger (with a gluten free bun), which he loved. Our roasts were also, of course, sensational! Can’t wait for next time!
