Visited here on wed 2 june. Staying at nearby lanarth campsite. Lovely cosy pub with a warm welcome from the staff the memu was amazing and great choices for me being a veggie. The vegetable wellington delicious.. Three of us had a drink, main meal and dessert. Total 75 pounds which was extremely worth it... Would highly recommend and def visit again.

We have just returned from a week in Cornwall and visited the Red Lion twice during our stay. The welcome was warm, with the safety protocols for Covid being enforced the whole time. The service was good and the food is fantastic. They are equally welcoming to our dogs and each one got a treat. The bill was very reasonable considering the amount of food we ate and each had a couple of drinks. As with everywhere now you do really need to book but you wont be disappointed with what you find.

What a fab find. Staying local for a week with our family, we visited The Red Lion twice for a meal, as the first time was great. As a group of six, you always expect the odd duff meal but we all left really impressed....twice! All food arrived at the same time, service was really attentive from a nice friendly team and ‘track and trace’ was efficient without being too over the top. I recommend the curries, which were adapted on request by Chef and the veggie Wellington, but our party were well impressed with everything. We are back in Jan and will no doubt revisit. Keep up the good work!

Popped here for dinner last night and loved it. Bit of a wait on food but so worth it. I had the last of the steak n ale pie it was delicious. Definitely recommend this pub some great options on the menu to suit all tastebuds.

Down for week and popped in twice within a couple of days. The first time was the incredible Red lion burger. Now I know a thing or two about a proper burger and this tops the lot. Juicy double pattie of prime beef cooked to perfection. Our second visit was as good. Baked camembert and chilli jam went down a treat, yet I may have made the wrong decision as my partner had the prawn and chorizo special. That dish as a starter was most delicious. Scampi and chips for the main was delicious also. I also found my new favourite rum here called Morvenna. Staff were polite and helpful. They take covid track and trace seriously here which was also great to see. Overall professional and well worth the experience.

We decided to book up and stop here for dinner on our way to St Ives for our family holiday last week. In previous years we'd had chips from the little chippie which has since closed but how many gorgeous meals did we miss out on by not knowing this pub was right here!? This will be our usual stop when heading this way in future as both the service and the food were amazing. Hot, fresh and plenty of it along with nice vegetarian options. I only wish we lived closer as when visiting the loos the other end of the pub looked so very cosy and I'd love to curl up there with a drink and family in the winter evenings.

We were recommend this Pub by Ron (Owletts Barn B&B) whilst we were staying there last week. Excellent meal, with reasonably priced wine. Although we hadn't booked they managed to squeeze us in for our evening meal. Recommended

My partner and I visited the Red Lion whilst on a short stay in the St Kew area and have nothing but positive feedback for the pub. The food on both occasions we visited was absolutely delicious and the service we received was fantastic also. The Manager/Owner of the pub (Wendy I believe) seemed to have a great structure in place for her staff as they all worked extremely hard and efficiently, whilst continuing to check up on us and chat with us in a very busy environment. We’re not from the area but if we ever visit again, we would without a doubt visit the pub again. Couldn’t recommend it enough to others. Here are a few photos of the lovely food/drink we had whilst visiting the pub....The first pictured drink is Tarquin’s Cornish blackberry gin infused with honey which I paired with an elderflower tonic...absolutely divine! First time I tried it and ended up buying a bottle from the Tarquin’s shop in Padstow....The second pictured drink is clotted cream gin with a slimline tonic which was also lovely. The third picture is the lemon sole fillet and chips that I had for my dinner and wow... it was amazing! Would definitely recommend if you fancy fish and chips. Finally the last two pictures are sundaes that myself and partner had. I had the Toffee Sundae and partner had the chocolate brownie sundae on the specials board. Absolutely divine... 5 stars from us overall

Visited two nights running as the first experience was so good. A great menu with variety of choice all prepared to a really high standard. The steaks were to die for, cooked and rested properly to a standard that any high-end restaurant would be proud of. Deserts were tip top too! A great atmosphere, friendly staff and all achieved Covid safe. Good selection of drinks, great wine at reasonable prices and even dessert wine by the glass. Highly recommend.

We booked a table for 4 adults and two kids under 3. We all had the most delicious food and all the staff where incredibly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed it so much we returned again 2 nights later. Highly recommend this place.

We went here while on holiday. The staff were young, friendly and very efficient, making all of us feel very welcome including our little dog! Good social distancing with tables well separated but there's still a nice, buzzy atmosphere and you feel as though the staff want you to be there. The food was delicious with a good, varied menu, including tasty vegetarian options. Wish this could be my local!

This Inn/Restaurant was absolutely fabulous in accommodating 4 adults and two children under 3 Nothing was too much trouble Extra gravy for the little one ? No problem! Mash some potatoes and peas for the baby ? Of course ! And for the adults the food was divine And all under Covid restrictions This is how to run a pub restaurant!!!! No wonder people keep going back

I’ve been here a few times, but due to Covid I wasn’t able to go on holiday to celebrate my birthday. However, had a great family meal here again. Social distancing in place and taken seriously. Good range on the menu from tapas to curries and steaks, along with a few specials. Good wine to accompany the meal and nice range of desserts too. All 6 of us enjoyed the experience and it was nice to be able to celebrate in a pub restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food and good wine. This pub is not the cheapest, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. Would thoroughly recommend.

4 of us went for a meal at The Red Lion last night. There was a great menu to choose from - something for everyone. The food was fresh and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food tasted fantastic and I can honestly say that it was the best meal we have had since moving to Cornwall two years ago. I would thoroughly recommend!

So so lovely here! And great food! Gave our dog a treat and gave him a fuss as well, would 100% recommend.

Fantastic food & lovely hosts who were very welcoming. The service was impeccable too!! Myself and my son had the gammon which was delicious, my mum had a steak which she said was perfect and my husband loved his butter chicken curry! We would have loved to try a desert but were too full! Highly recommend!!

Great selection of beers, friendly staff & great range of food choice. Alway feel very welcomed. A proper freehouse, not like some of the soulless tourist traps around the North Cornwall area.

Had take out on Friday and food was as good as eating in. 3 courses for the whole family and was a delicious meal. Highly recommend.

We had heard this was a friendly pub serving good food - did we go to the wrong one? The woman behind the bar was unsmiling and unfriendly. The fish was covered in thick batter, we left most and did not bother to stay for coffee.

On the recommendation of a local family member we booked a table at this Pub/restaurant. Service was prompt and friendly, it was clear that Wendy, the maitre d, had full control and runs a tight ship.Lovely starter and well kept ale was a great start. Excellent advice regarding the choice of wine to drink with a wonderful Beef Wellington, beautifully cooked and at a very reasonable price. Only able to fit ice cream in for dessert, but very ni.Deserves to do well, an excellent place to eat.

We decided to try the Red Lion for a birthday meal for our daughter- we were not disappointed.It was a week night so wasn’t busy but was warm and felt welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful, allowing us all the time we needed to choose our food whilst still ensuring we had drinks as needed. We had a selection of starters including mushrooms, spring rolls, garlic king prawns and panko prawns. Portions were good and all were tasty and well presented. Mains were equally good- again good sized portions of well cooked, flavoursome food. Beef and vegetarian wellingtons were both very good , served with excellent dauphinoise potatoes. No room for dessert so can’t comment!- a very enjoyable meal and evening!

This old pub is at St Kew Highway. off the A39 between Wadebridge and Camelford. Not immediately visible from the main road, but it is worth finding. There is a carpark at the rear. We went for Sunday lunch, I opted for the roast lamb, my wife had the roast pork. Very tasty, served with crispy roast potatoes and a good selection of roasted vegetables, swede, sweet potato, carrots, & red cabbage. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding and clotted cream.Overall a good lunch at a fair price, we'll be happy to eat here again.

Food was excellent and services was efficient and friendly. The menu is not extensive but has a good range of options. Its a little way out of Bodmin (about 20 minutes) but well worth the drive - especially when compare to many of the places which are actually in Bodmin.

You have to book to be sure of a table. The menu isn't massive, however, a fair variety of choice. Service is good and helpful. A cheery environment, and good start to our holiday.

Popped into the Red Lion on the first night of our holiday. It was a Friday night and we hadn't booked and they were full, but we were greeted with a warm welcome from the bar staff and saud they would be able to accomodate us in 15 minutes. Sure enough just after I had finished my pint of Tribute we were called through.

What a great pub and the food was fantastic, great choice, well cooked and staff friendly. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

The menu looks amazing online and won’t disappoint. We visited for dinner and had a real selection - from the curry, to lasagne, to chicken burger, to beef Wellington. Every dish was excellent, and the starters and puddings too.

Was staying at the caravan park down the road so decided to come for tea. Started with amazing passion fruit martinis. Food was delicious, the steak was amazing, as was the burger. The charcuterie board was also delicious. Staff were lovely and friendly.

Whist staying in St Kew for a week visited this lovely old pub. We had already visited another pub within a stones throw of our accommodation a few days earlier but felt that the Red Lion was superior both for food, ambience and friendly service. We hadn't booked but were soon found a table and had a very enjoyable meal.Would certainly recommend the gin options! There was also a decent and reasonable wine list. I'm sure we will visit again if we return to this beautiful part of Cornwall. Recommended.

It was around 6pm and my party of fellow tourists to the British paradise of Cornwall had suddenly become a cliche. Tired, hungry and travelling the roads after a long day, in search of something good to eat.

Fathers day outing, left it late to book a meal but the Red Lion came to the rescue. First time visiting this pub restaurant but we had such a good meal that it won't be the last.

Fans of "Doc Martin" will recognize this place immediately. It's right on the bay where they drop the boats into the harbor. The food is "pub grub supreme," meaning it's locally caught fish served with style. Everything is delicious and the small bar has a great selection of brews.

Visited twice in the last two weeks with visiting family as the Red Lion is our favourite local. The food is always fabulous and Wendy and Steve are very welcoming. Good selection of gin and lager always goes down well. Pork belly, chicken skewers, southern fried chicken and goats cheese tarts on one visit and all of the above plus burgers, lasagne and children’s portions of pasta on the other all cooked to perfection and served beautifully. If you are staying in the area you really don’t need to look any further afield in our honest opinion.

Visited here on our last evening in Cornwall. Service was brilliant and the food even better. Price was very reasonable, made a good end to our lovely holiday.

It was our first visit to cornwell and we had been out visit lands end and found the pub on our way back to our accommodation. The staff in the pub were very friendly and the service was excellent, the food was the best we had out that week, I will recommend this pub to anyone I know who is visiting Cornwell.

Wonderful pub to chat with friends- we went for a pudding after having an awful meal and it well and truly made up for it.

we go to the supper club here every month , great food cooked by Steve the owner and chef , Wendy looks after the bar and makes great Gin cocktails , you can have 4 different gin and tonics for 16 pounds , so good food , good drinks and great atmosphere

Andy and I returned to the Red Lion having visited the pub a year or two before. We were greeted by Wendy & Steve and welcomed into their pub like we had never been away. During our week long visit we ate in the pub almost every night. The food is just the best and can highly recommend everything on the menu. There were so many lovely things to choose from, we were spoilt for choice and didn’t get to try it all. We will be back! You can’t go wrong if you find yourself holed up here for the evening. Definitely one not to miss whilst in North Cornwall.

Good pub food, in line with the quality of a bistro pub. The burgers looked great, sea bass was quite plain but still tasty. The specials, especially the wellington looked great as they were coming out. Lovely log fires to sit in front of and dog friendly too.

Visited again with friends for this special menu evening, we loved it ! The food was good service good , an overall good evening thank you to Steve, Wendy and their staff.

We were staying nearby over new year and the red lion was only a 10 minute walk away so we went several times. We were always made very welcome especially by the landlady. The pub had a great selection of gins and had special cocktails for the Christmas period. One night we had snacks and one night we had dinner. The food was lovely.

I had the BBQ salmon over stir fry noodles dish and wow it was the best salmon I have ever tasted. Melt in your mouth, tender, beautiful flavours. Would come back again and again for it!!

Good food, friendly service, good beers. And are very happy to help solve dietary problems (especially GF) just book 24 hours ahead - very advisable away at the weekend.

After reading the rave reviews of the food I was really pleased to be going here for an evening meal with a couple of friends. Two of us shared the camembert starter which was absolutely fabulous, really liked the chutney that came with it.

Sunday lunch in a mini break to port Gaverne! Found this pub online after wanting to try a new place.

Stayed in Port Isaac for a week and found this pub after a little online research! Was not disappointed! The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly! Would definitely recommend and return!!

We stayed in a cottage in the village for 3 nights and each night after a jammed packed day we relaxed with a few drinks and dinner here at the Red Lion. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the food is amazing! We will definitely be back on our next visit

On holiday in Bodmin and forgetting that pubs don't serve all day, at 3pm we suddenly found ourselves starving and turned away from 2 other pubs, we eventually rang this one before travelling over.... Wendy was really kind and helpful on the phone and despite not doing food after 3pm she agreed to do us a Sunday lunch.... we arrived around 3.30pm and quickly ordered the lamb dinner.... it was beautiful and we really enjoyed it. In short this little gem went above and beyond and I will always be thankful ... if I ever find myself in Cornwall again I will be stopping off.

Visited with family for an anniversary meal, everything was perfect. Excellent, swift service, lovely menu choices and all our food was cooked to perfection. Looking forward to our next visit.

We were staying nearby and wanted a Sunday lunch - this was the nearest place and reviews were good. We weren’t disappointed.....prompt and cheerful service, really lovely roast beef lunches with excellent crispy roast potatoes (a rarity!!) and every thing attractively presented. Lovely apple & blackberry crumble.

We were staying in Cornwall for the bank holiday weekend and came across this pub on line. Rang up and managed to book a table on the day. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile. Service was great and food was delicious. The staff were very accommodating to our fussy needs!

Called into the Red Lion before going to the cinema in Wadebridge a few weeks ago. The food and the service were second to none.We will certainly return !

We were staying in a private holiday rental across the road and so visited the Red Lion every evening of our 3 night stay. It is a wonderful, traditional little pub but with a great selection of drinks and food. We had a variety of guns and ales between us, plus enjoyed a selection of bar snacks - from calamari to readers Camembert, delicious!

Firstly, we'd visited another pub not far away and couldn't get in so we tried this one. There was no room inside but it was a pleasant night so we decided to brave it outside. Staff very apologetic. After a few minutes a lovely young lady said they'd got us a table inside. Obviously made the effort as we were seen to be disappointed at having to eat outside. Full marks for that. We ordered, I had a huge burger with fries and my wife had fish. All excellent and great service. A pub were staff go that little bit extra.

Came here for a causal birthday meal. The place seemed very welcoming and cosy. Staff were great with the 3 year old. Food was presented very nicely and arrived very quickly. Chicken curry and chicken burger were very nice, sweet potato fries were amazing and my dad said the sea bass was really good! Puddings were delicious! Did feel abit rushed though, waitress came to take our order and check if we had finished a few times quite quickly, which made us rush, and she ran out the door to finish work as we were paying. Would visit again, would like to try more dishes on the menu.

Eaten here twice now during our 2 week holiday in Cornwall and will be back for a 3rd time before we leave, might even squeeze in a 4th... Friendly chatty staff, fabulous food and what a gin selection!

I regularly visit with the family and love it every time. The owners and staff couldn't be more welcoming. The food is very good and I am slowly working my way through the menu. I travel a lot and eat out regularly, always enjoy coming here. Highly recommend.

Visited the Red lion as a party of 26 for a birthday celebration. Everything was very well organised, food was excellent as were the staff and a wonderful evening was had by all. Brilliant and well worth a visit

We called ahead on a Saturday lunchtime as a group of nine to see if they could cope with us for food, conscious that a surprise influx can fluster some establishments. We were encouraged to visit, and made to feel very welcome when we arrived. A great range of drinks was on offer, and the menu choices catered for everyone's needs. The two chefs created the most delicious meals, all cooked fresh and served in good time on well-presented plates and boards. Prices were very reasonable, and portion sizes generous. If I'm ever passing again, I'll definitely be back in

A friend’s birthday weekend culminated in an excellent evening with a group of about 30 people. Really, really good, friendly service, and very good food. Worth a visit.

The the food was unbelievably brilliant, i had the works burger and i can truely say the best burger i have ever had, and I've had some burgers in my time, perfect ratio of flavors what an experience,and such friendly staff aswel.

Good menu but standard of food does vary from one visit to the next. Portions not overly large. Eating area at the back is a little dated and dark. Staff lovely and welcoming

If you like a laid back, informal, friendly, relaxing inn, with an excellent range of drinks and delicious food, then this is the place for you. We visited twice during our recent week's stay. We received a warm welcome from Wendy and were treated very well by her team. Wendy has excellent knowledge on gins in particular, as well as wines etc. There is plenty of choice to suit all tastes. The beef wellingtons are the best we've ever had. They were perfection and the dauphinoise potatoes were so good! The fish was excellent and the variety of burgers eaten, including an indian-themed one which my son adored. Everything was cooked so well and the desserts were heavenly too. We cannot wait to return when we are next in the area. So thankful to have found this place. I wish it was my local.

We use the Red Lion regularly when we stay at our caravan down the road. Wendy and Steve are fantastic hosts selling lovely drinks and fantastic food. The bar is wonderful with a lovely roaring fire in the wintertime and wonderful outdoor seating areas. Definitely recommend this place

Wow! Met Wendy by chance at a trade show ‘up the road’ after 2 nights of disappointing meal experiences in the area. I am a believer in fate, not only will I be visiting every year I return for the show but as a frequent Cornish traveller this place is marked! Good vibes, great music, food is insane! Fantastic value for your buck, gutted I missed the open mic set, next time! If you’re a fan of mouth watering BBQ’d delights or the classic pub grub.. GO!!

Visited with friends for dinner. This pub caters for all as there was something for everyone. Great value kids meals, fantastic steaks and tasty vegetarian meals. Not forgetting the delicious puddings if you have room! Well worth a visit.

Very accommodating as last minute booking. Good selection of ales and other drinks and a varied menu with bbq specials. My wife-the pie lady-was spoilt for choice. Meat was tender and tasty and veggies/potatoes home cooked. Attentive service and lovely atmosphere. Would recommend highly.

Pleasant friendly pub easy to get to. All the food was excellent , food rate it 10 out of 10, steak cooked to perfection and so was the fish dishes.

Went for a meal here while on holiday with my partner. Very quiet early Just us and a group of 4 seperate to us. The manager spent a lot of time with the other people and didnt give us much attention. The food was ok but for the atmosphere, and decor its not worth the money. You pay £18 for a main which should be 15 In my opinion. St Kew Inn was the same price but so much nicer food service and location. Was hoping for better TBH. PS not good seeing the chef sitting around talking to local punters! All seems to be a bit casual.

We booked to visit the Red Lion as it was close to our accommodation in Bodmin on the way back from Newquay.

Called in for evening dinner. Recieved very welcome and given choice of where to sit. Chose the restaurant towards the back. Think it's probably had a makeover which on the whole was good, but the lighting was all wrong and the spots much too bright. Both ordered the fish and chips which were very good, followed by ice cream. Nice wines. Not cheap, more mid range. Dogs welcome.

Called in for a quick drink and to be honest to use the loo while driving through the area, and found a nice quiet pub with very friendly staff and what seemed a reasonable pub menu.

I make an annual visit each year! It never disappoints, i had the hoisin chicken on a bed of rice and some greens which was simply amazing! Id 100% recommend to come in and try.

Gluten Free friendly, very helpful. We went here for tea tonight, we was made to feel very welcome from the minute we walked in. The food was excellent a great selection to choose from on the menu. Me and my Husband had the chicken Tikka curry, it was lovely and light not heavy and was just delicious. I'm hoping we'll get to go back before the end of our holiday.

Was advised this was a good pub but omg...... the staff are so friendly and helpful, took ages to choose food but it really was the best Meal I have ever had. All 3 courses were amazing and service was impeccable. Atmosphere was great with children but still felt like a special night out. This is now my favourite place to eat and can not wait to go again. It is an hour away but Deffo worth it.

We visited here on a Sunday and had Sunday roasts, I had beef and my husband had turkey. Everything was good except the sprouts, i think they were frozen ones. My husband enjoyed his meal and then polished off the rest of mine as i can't eat a great deal. The roast potatoes, yorkshire puds, cabbage and carrots were lovely and the beef was the best I have tasted in ages, so tender and succulent. it was served with horseradish sauce and my husband had cranberry sauce. I would definitely visit there again

Went here on recommendation from hotel. Limited menu but food very decent and nicely presented. Staff very friendly and we visited again during 4 day break - so it must have been OK!

The Red Lion was recommended to us by our friend who lives in the area and I can't believe we have never visited! Given such a warm friendly welcome, and we ended up eating every night of our 2nd week whilst on holiday! A great varied menu with specials so plenty of choice, portion sizes just right if not a big eater..great value. Lovely cosy dining area. We are moving to Cornwall soon and I think we have found a new local! Thanks guys.

Very friendly and efficient. Really went out of their way to make us feel special in their pub. From what we could tell, this was the way the locals felt to.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a meal and was pleasantly surprised to find they had some entertainment. Not only were we greeted by lovely staff but the music was good too. There was a lovely atmosphere and one of those pubs you can walk into and not feel you are a total stranger. The Beef Wellington is to die for! Beautifully cooked, savoured every bite. Sadly we didn't get chance to get back there during this stay but we'll be sure to visit again when we're next in Cornwall.
