The Bean Inn Vegetarian Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Fabulous vegetarian restaurant. Even my hubby who eats meat was a bit reticent about coming here… however he loved the food and revisited with me. Lovely menu, food is delicious and service is good .

As we are having our kitchen done and when my Wife came home from work I said ff she wanted to go out for a meal, she said no so I ordered a takeaway which was delicious, well worth the money, we will be going back again soon.

Very nice Veggie/Vegan restaraunt. Excellent food, we went back the next day to try something else of the menu.

Lovely little restaurant tucked back off the road which is part of the B&B Coast, I think? Yummy food and ambience, clean and the service was superb.

Nice little restaurant. From the outside you can't see how nice it is inside. The menu and food was very goed with a lot of choisses.

Great to have a vegan/ vegetarian restaurant near St Ives. Tasty food, great service and a nice setting. Would recommend booking ahead as very busy, but still quick service. We were in the back room, the front dining area seemed to be brighter with better views.

A happy find. Excellent vegetarian/vegan menu. Full of flavour and creative. A small range of creative cocktails to start. A choice of six or so items in each course. All delicious. Attentive service. A bit hidden away, looking like a domestic house, dining in two rooms. Bus on St Ives -Penzance stops outside. Thoughly recommended, even meat eaters will be impressed.

As a vegetarian I get slightly bored of restaurant food but The Bean Inn is just amazing. From starters, mains, desserts to the drinks (alcohol and non alcohol) everything was delicious. My husband who isn't vegetarian said it was the best restaurant meal he's had for a very long time. I wish you were closer to me!!! If I'm ever back here I'm definitely reserving a table. We were staying in St. Ives for our 25th wedding anniversary and this meal made it our special meal thats for sure!Thank you for a lovely evening staff are very friendly and the Chefs well... just taste the food. You need to reserve a table as they do book up.

Food was wonderful and the small plate was more than enough for our daughter as a full meal. Service was beyond exceptional, really welcoming place and went above and beyond to help celebrate our girl’s birthday. Will definitely be back here next time we are nearby. Thank you!

We went to the Bean Inn Restaurant whilst on holiday at St Ives and I was very pleasantly surprised how delicious and reasonably priced the food was. Each course was so tasty and freshly cooked. The atmosphere was lovey and the staff were very helpful and attentive to our needs. Totally enjoy our experience at this restaurant, would definitely go again and recommend to others.x

Absolutely wonderful family meal here last night. Really delicious food, great service, beautiful setting and suitable for all dietary requirements. We essentially had a small part of the restaurant to ourselves which felt really special. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Carbis Bay or St. Ives. Whether you are vegetarian or not it is top quality dining. And the decor and artwork is great too.

This was the first time we have eaten at the Bean Inn in Carbis Bay but it certainly won't be our last. The food was really tasty and felt so healthy. The portion sizes were spot on and the combination of flavours was perfect. The service was friendly and you could tell that the staff were passionate about their restaurant. Thoroughly recommended 👌

My wife is vegetarian so I always try to find restaurants with good veggie options, so when we discovered we were staying near a vegetarian restaurant, we made certain we had a meal there. It was very nice. I had the mushroom pate starter and the stuffed potato cakes. I quite like a bit of spice (but not too hot) and these were spiced perfectly for me. My wife had the tofu starter (though I think she wished she'd had the halloumi option in the end) and the mushroom bourguignon which looked delicious and hearty. The restaurant itself is very understated, but pleasant.

We ended up dining here twice during our trip as the food was so good! The highlight was definitely the dhal. So many flavours and the spice level perfect! The chocolate orange mud pie also did not disappoint.

Lovely place, we were greeted by lovely staff and felt very welcoming. Stuffed potato cakes with curry sauce were outstanding. Spaghetti with basil and pesto were divine too. Overall good experience.

An excellent dining experience regardless of whether you are vegetarian/vegan or not. Fresh, homemade food which is apetising and delicious, not sacrificing taste and pleasure on the altar of health. Lovely clean interior with super friendly staff. We’ll be back.

We had a takeout for 12 people the day after a wedding. The food was delicious the perfect comfort after the celebrations. Service was impeccable, so friendly and easy to deal with. Going the extra mile for us. The restaurant looked lovely when we picked-up. Highly recommend.

We had a take-away from the Bean Inn as our 'late lunch' the day after our 'fine dining' wedding and it was PERFECT. Really tasty, high quality, well presented food, our party chose all the main course options and they were all rated five star. The team were very helpful and friendly too.

Lovely meal here tonight, warm friendly service and excellent food. We can recommend the mushroom pate for starters and for mains the bourguignon or the curry. Both the choc orange dessert and the fruit crumble were scrummy too! Many thanks for a lovely evening!

A fantastic, quaint and intimate place. Great for vegetarians and vegans. The service was excellent and tailored to our own needs. My fiancée and I went there for my 30th. It was only us to begin with hence the intimate description of this place. The food and drink was freshly made to order and to top it off, they gave me a birthday card! Highly recommended!

If you're a vegetarian like me, you're probably rather bored with the vegetarian option(s) in most restaurants. You will really like the Bean Inn, where there are many starters, mains and desserts, all vegetarian, to tempt you. A lot of the choices are also vegan or can be adapted to become vegan. The Bean Inn is only a small restaurant, so I recommend booking in advance. We really enjoyed the whole experience. We had Mushroom Bourguignon with herby mash (green 🙂) and stuffed potato cakes with pea curry, tarka dahl and pilau rice. Berry compote and fruit crumble rounded off our meal very nicely. Cute small restaurant with excellent food. The menu is vegan / vegetarian... and every meal can ve adapted to be vegan. The portions were on the larger side but great after a long day of walking. There's some lovely artwork on the walls which can be purchased. I'd highly recommend the vegetable bourgignon. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Check the days they are open before travelling there as they are closed on odd days in the week.

Wow! Absolutely amazing dining experience. The best we have ever had. It was so good I got emotional. The setting and atmosphere is very relaxed, charming and captivating with fantastic art work displayed. Exceptional service and outstanding food! The presentation of the dishes was like art on a plate. Full of vibrancy. The flavours were mind blowing. This is a truly remarkable dining experience that is so unique and rare that it makes it all feel magical. A Fantastic selection of vegetarian dishes. We had starters, mains and pudding and are so moved and impressed that we are going back in a few weeks time. Thank you massively for such a wonderful experience all round that pulled the heart strings and thank you for such a warm and welcoming service 💚🌿🤗

We’ve been (pun intended) meaning to eat here for years. Finally got here yesterday and it was everything we hoped it would be. We had tarka dahl, a Buddha bowl, various sides and a Christmassy ice-cream sundae - all were absolutely fantastic. Great options for kids too. The hosts are lovely and the venue is great too. Would thoroughly recommend.

A lovely meal with lovely fresh food . Great service from ladies who love to cook. The Halloumi starter was lovely as was the bread basket with oils and balsamic . Nearly passed this up for a chippy.... but can now say that we have bean inn.... The Bean Inn...yeah that's a terrible joke! ANYWAY! It brings me no pleasure to confess that I am in fact a wolf in sheep's clothing in that I do unfortunately eat...meat... Buuut but but! This place was absolutely AMAZING! There wasn't a single thing we didn't love! Even I as the blasted carnivore! In fact, I wouldn't have even known (had you not told me) that the butter, the cream, the ice cream, or the mud cake was vegan! I had trouble booking over the phone initially because signal in my area is naff, but they promptly managed to text me the information so I remained in the know that it was confirmed! The atmosphere was absolutely spot on! We were in a quieter room but even the other room felt warm and cosy and everyone was so friendly. The playlist was banger after banger and yet entirely appropriate for the mellow and relaxed mood, and the art on the walls was also fantastic! The tables were lovely too - sounds silly but it was like the restaurant really knew what it was and what colours really worked! Earthy, red napkins and really warm! All we drank was their amazing Morwenna Sunset drink... and the food, OH THE FOOD! This is a restaurant that absolutely knows its craft and knows it so well that you can't be disappointed with anything you order! We had a starter, main and dessert each and only regret being too full for more. The waitresses were also fantastic. So lovely, polite and warm. It was like being at a cosy relative's house and not leaving without a full belly and a big smile! This restaurant deserves its own chain with places popping up on every corner! But then that would cause it to lose its charm, and there is no charm from a food place like it! I can't praise this place enough! Please go even if you're a carnivore! You'll never regret it! Great choice of innovative vegetarian food with friendly staff. Worth the trip to Carbis just outside the town and easy to find. Good place for anyone who may think veggie food is dull or all the same. The Bean Inn will enlighten them - and it’s not just beans!!

I’ve been visiting st ives for 15 years and each time I go past I say I want to go here. Whhhyyyy did o wait so long. Now I finally have and wow it’s everything I dreamt of. Service was impeccable. Great intimate dining atmosphere Food was delicious. Had all three courses!!! Every bite was flavourful. Love the use of local ingredients. The drinks menu was full of great choices!! Massive appreciation to the chefs and team here.

Lovely cosy restaurant. Would definitely recommend a visit. We were made really welcome and even though we arrived early, we were not rushed, everything was timed perfectly. The food was really well presented and delicious. The waiter that served us was very friendly and professional.

Warm atmosphere with very good music at good volume. The portions of the starters seemed a little fair to me but the quality of the product was unbeatable. Very good and attentive service. Very good decoration, highlighting the opportunity to be able to buy paintings according to the place where we are. They have seats for children. 100% vegetarian with vegan option. It also has hotel service. The location is good although difficult to see. The sink is a little small but very cozy. Recommendable!

This is a gem of a vegetarian restaurant on the edge of St Ives in Carbis Bay. I opted for a very tasty Buddha Bowl and a portion of Apple Plum and Blueberry Crumble for dessert. Delicious.

On visits to Carbis Bay in 2021 and 2022 we got take-out meals from The Bean Inn and this year we did the same although you can dine in there. It was easy to order from the on-line menu, and easy to pick up at the appointed time and take the delicious food back to our holiday apartment nearby. We have always been delighted by the tasty interesting food on offer, and the friendly service and efforts made to ensure the food looks as good as it tastes, even when served up in takeaway containers. The interior of the restaurant is quirky and interesting, and it would be a nice atmosphere to dine in too.

A charming restaurant with excellent healthy food and friendly service! We found it on line and it was exactly what we’d hoped for- unpretentious, great value and original food.

My wife and I went there for a meal on Weds 3rd of May. A many other people have said the waiting member of staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, the chefs serve to your table and the food is incredible. As one of the staff mentioned that they can pack up food to take away we actually took the opportunity to buy a second set of the pate starter to take away to have as part of a picnic. If we had been staying for another few days we would have definitely gone back for another meal. One of the items not covered too frequently is that the restaurant space also doubles as a gallery and so there are some fantastic pieces of art on the walls. We were so pleased to find out that they were for sale and ended up buying a great piece. So all in all we had great service, great food, met the lovely team that worked there and ended up taking away extra food for the next day and a lovely paining for the wall.

This beautiful restaurant never ever fails to disappoint. The food is fresh and beautifully served- the chefs clearly put a lot of thought and love into their meals and it shows.the menu is fresh and locally produced, providing a vegan option for each dish (thank you!!) I have been here a few times since turning vegan back in 2016- where this place was the first in cornwall to provide a fully vegan, yummy three course meal for me and it still is my favourite to this day! The staff are beyond lovely and welcoming, they give the place a wonderful atmosphere and Id like to thank them for a wonderful evening 🥰

My husband and I had vouchers gifted to us for our 50th birthdays recently. We made use of them this evening and were not disappointed. This was the best meal out we have ever had! Lovely little place, super friendly and attentive staff and the food was amazing! Can't recommend this place enough. Will be paying another visit soon!

Found this place online when looking for vegan restaurants nr st Ives. Really good food, we both enjoyed it and there was plenty of it. Service was attentive and friendly too. They also gave us some extra dumplings as they had leftovers. We had the pate and a side of bread to start and both had the bourguignon. I liked the sound of everything on the menu to be honest. The only reason I gave 4 rather than 5 is because of having to preorder and pay a deposit, sometimes you don’t always know what you’ll fancy at the time, but if I come back to the area I would definitely come back to here.

Friendly efficient service and a fantastic meal. Bursting with flavour. We can recommend the mushroom Bourguignon and the Moroccan chick pea stew with couscous. It was all delicious.

We had a group of 8 people with lots of dietary requirements and allergies. The food was excellent in both appearance and taste. At the moment you need to pre order - but well worth it. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had to book the day before, pay a deposit and then pre order. This was fine for us as it made the visit really straightforward when we got there. It was great to see a few vegan options for main course and dessert. We had the mushroom bourginon and a spiced cauliflower/potato cake dish. Both were excellent and freshly made. We had the vegan cheese board and mud pie with vegan ice cream for dessert. Meals were brought out in a reasonable time and the two young chaps waiting on tables were polite and courteous. There were a few parking spaces out front which was really helpful. The only improvement pointers I would like to feedback regarding our visit was to add another cheese to the board (perhaps a blue-type cheese?) As there was a mild cheddar and a mushroom pate to eat, along with grapes, chutney and onions. Also, it would have been great to have some oat milk to order as I'd have loved a cuppa at the end (soya was available). Otherwise, we were very happy to find a place to cater for vegans and would definitely recommend.

Excellent vegan restaurant with fantastic choice and service

So me and my girlfriend are more dabblers in the veggie/vegan scene and in a desperate bid for some “healthier” options amongst the fish and chips and pasties we THANKFULLY chose to book a table here… honestly one of the best spontaneous decisions I’ve ever made! Can’t remember last time I had such a PERFECT meal placed before me in a restaurant and The Bean Inn’s Vegetable Bourguignon was easily the best meal of the holiday. If all vegan food was this good I’d permanently make the change in a heartbeat… my girlfriend and I need to make a pilgrimage here to try the rest of the menu!

Superb!!! We found Harvey, front of house, approachable, amusing & attentive, but not overbearing. The Bean Inn was refreshingly simple and relaxed in atmosphere, you felt as though you could be dining at home! The emphasis was on the quality, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, producing simply the most delicious dishes.

We were looking for a vegetarian restaurant while visiting Carbis Bay and came across The Bean Inn and decided to give it a go after reading a few reviews. It was absolutely amazing, felt like the food was made with love and the service was also amazing. Had the bourguignon and the dhal, and were blown away. The flavours were all there and everything was made fresh. I would recommend going out of your way to visit this place. We will definitely be going back.

After many a drive past over the years on family breaks my husband booked supper at The Bean Inn when we had a week's holiday.We pre-ordered our choices as advised with excellent communication from the restaurant. We received a warm welcome on arrival and shown to our table - tables well-spaced and hosts wearing masks. Drinks menus were brought to our table and a jug of water offered.Wonderful choices of food at each course. My husband (not veggie) had the soup - wonderfully warming and tasty and I had the mushroom pate, served with pickles and sour dough.For mains we had the mushroom bourguignon and potato cakes with dahl. Both fabulous. We finished with the choc/orange mud pie with cream, light and indulgent, a great way to finish off our meal.We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Bean Inn, great, attentive service, great food and great ambiance. Highly recommend. We will revisit next time we are Cornwall way.

Went on a Wednesday night and had a great experience. Food was very tasty, generous portions and very well presented. The service was just so down to earth and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Lovely quality food. Perhaps not the most imaginative veggie/ vegan menu I have come across. However, all tastes catered for. Portion sizes are generous. Food is like good quality home cooking. Can't complain at all. Very small restaurant. Not many tables. Had to pre book and pay a deposit. So many restaurants do this now though, so not a problem. You also had to pre order your choices in advance, so cannot change your mind!!

Visited with my wife (who is a vegetarian, I am not) and had the most amazing meal.. we both chose the Mushroom and Pecan Pate to start which was delicious and beautifully balanced. I then had the Potato Cakes with Spicy Tarka Dahl and Pea Curry which was delicious and one of the best things I have ever eaten. We both finished with the brilliant cheese board and enjoyed the Wild Thing organic wine. I say this as a non vegetarian - this was a fabulous meal supported by great service and a lovely atmosphere and I would have no hesitation recommending for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike - essentially if you like well cooked and tasty food that is prepared with love and served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere this is the place for you. We will be returning to the area next year for holiday and this will be a ‘must do’. Thanks to everyone at the Bean Inn for such a great night.

Really lovely restaurant, really enjoyed the food, the waitresses were really pleasant! An overall enjoyable evening! The only thing that would enhance the experience is if they played a bit background music for ambience, as it can feel very quiet whilst your waiting to eat.

Very excited to be visiting this restaurant with being vegetarian. The mushroom pate starter was delicious, the pesto pine nut spaghetti did lack a little seasoning and I would have liked to be offered black pepper, that is my only criticism. Dessert was so tasty, the mud pie. Whilst the food was amazing, our waiter was what made the experience for me. I was a little hot and flustered when arriving, he was just such a lovely person and so attentive, he really made the experience for me, sadly I didnt get his name.

We just had a wonderful meal at The Bean Inn. We booked an outdoor table which has a lovely view of the bay in the background, we were served by the wonderful Harvey who was very welcoming, attentive and personable. We had a special meal at the Bean Inn. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed into the restaurant and loved the homely feel of the place. When the food came out we were very impressed by the bold flavours and good spicing on the main courses. The presentation of the food was funky, and the chocolate mud pie was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our party, even the non-vegans! The highlight of our evening was the care from our waiter, Harvey, to ensure we had a night to remember.
