Red Lion in Ceredigion

Lovey place to stay, really clean and comfortable rooms and very warm welcome from staff and regulars at the bar. Would really recommend

After losing my husband in 2021, this was my first solo mini break. I choose Cardigan as it was somewhere we'd never been ( The Gower was one of our favourite mini holiday destinations, and my mother lives in North Wales - so I went for bang in the middle! Asked my hotel manager where the best place to watch the football and he suggested The Red Lion. When I finally found it ( in the end I parked by the Leisure Centre and used Google maps to walk there) I was apprehensive about going into a pub on my own - I know old fashioned but that's how I was brought up. Took a deep breath and opened the door. Obviously a freezing cold night in Feb had kept people at home, but the locals were all sat at the bar. I'd planned to sit in the corner, watch the game and then skidaddle! I was greeted by the chaps at the bar Before I'd be given my drink by Row, the lovely barmaid, a stool was placed behind me and I was invited to watch the game with the locals! It really put me at my ease if I'm honest. I've been struggling so much my hubby passed away, just the loneliness of it all, even though I have three smashing grown-up kids. We all sat chatting about why I'd chosen Cardigan etc. Felt like I was one of the locals! Let's gloss over the football result... But apart from that I had a great night. Nursed my beer as long as possible then hit the lemonade ( although I was offered a lift in the morning to pick my car up if needed) I think I finally left about closing time with invites to go back to Birthday parties and meet up for lunch when I'm down again. All the nerves from the beginning at the evening gone. Row, Mark and Andrea were so friendly. You will never know how brilliant you were that evening with this lonely woman. .

Fantastic hospitality ,pub had a very happy/sociable bunch of locals having a good time,rooms were comfortable /clean well equipped great breakfast.👍👍👍

We booked at the last minute and stayed for one night. The room was comfortable, clean and the ensuite had a fantastic shower. In the morning we had a huge freshly cooked full English breakfast and Tina the cook was very attentive. Excellent value for money and a free car park 2minutes away.

If you want to sleep then maybe this pub is not for you. Staff were really nice and although breakfast was delicious, it was very disorganised. The noise from the bar area can continue until at least 1.30am. It was quite impossible to sleep until after 1.30am. Just take into account when booking that it is a pub and there will be noise from the bar area. If you really need your sleep this pub is not for you. One consolation it wasn't expensive

Quando siamo arrivati, l'ingresso tramite il pub on era certo tra i più invitanti, tutti a bere, schiamazzi, risate ecc. Quando però abbiamo salito le scale per andare alle camere siamo entrati in un altro mondo, tutto nuovo, pulito, camera molto grande e ben accessiorata. Ottima, colazione un po' minima ma solo perchè tutta basata su english breakfast, che noi non abbiamo fatto.

Stayed on a Friday night - loud pulsating music until 1.30 with punters singing along. The bedroom was unusable - couldn’t hear tv and the whole room vibrated. Bathroom mouldy and dirty. Bedroom furniture tired. The manager has ignored our complaint- we complained in the morning but assistant manager said she couldn’t deal with it but manager would phone us - she didn’t. Despite leaving messages and emailing our complaint four weeks later we’ve heard nothing from the hotel.

Stayed one night with friends while doing the Wales Coast Path. Very friendly staff, nice decent sized rooms and a good traditional breakfast. They don't currently do evening meals and there are not many evening eating places in Cardigan, so best to do a bit of research and book a table somewhere. There is a free car park close by. The pub is good for a drink and reasonable. A nice touch was the fresh milk in a little fridge in each room for making nice tea

I had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend stay down here at the Red Lion, the staff and the locals are all nice & friendly, it's the only place in town that you can watch all the sports in, I particularly liked being able to see some of the golf while I was down, the room exceeded my expectations with an amazing en suite bathroom, comfy bed, tea/coffee facilities & a decent flat screen telly, I Would happily come back here again!! Thanks guys!

I stayed here with my wife for 2 nights a couple of weeks ago , and I must admit I wasn’t sure what it would be like . But I must say we were very impressed with the rooms that were spotless and had beautiful bathrooms . The bed was really comfy and we had a mini fridge that had fresh milk and bottles of water in it . There was also an electric fan that was good as the weather was very warm when we were staying . We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful as well and we had breakfast both days and that was a nice way to start our days . It is a working pub as well which is an added bonus . But we never heard any noise in our room . Thanks to all at the Red Lion Cardigan we would definitely recommend your hotel and hope to visit again . Ian from Glasgow

Huge portions... Even chucked in some extra toast and another cuppa. Sat on balcony chatting to some friendly locals and once my breakfast settled had a cracking cold pint of carling. As, arnie said Hasta la vista

No ppe worn by staff apart from 1 waitress in the morning. No social distancing. Now having to isolate after being here and the cases stemming from here.

Really enjoyed our stay. Room was excellent and very clean. Excellent breakfast. Staff and customers were very friendly and told us the best places to visit and eat. Would definitely return and recommend.

The rooms were nice and spacious, modern too. The landlady was very friendly. The place was not really all that clean and I was not keen on the breakfast. All in all I just expected more, because the ratings were good. I was not impressed by the place.

Stayed at the Red Lion for a couple of nights mid January. Lovely, warm and cosy room with comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. Claire, the manager was helpful and hospitable; nothing was too much trouble. Friendly locals who were a joy to have a drink with. Highly recommend staying at the Red Lion.

Having had to make a trip to Cardigan, for the sad event of a funeral I booked into ‘The Red Lion’ for the evening.Fantastic rooms, wonderfully friendly staff.I have travelled to many countries over many years and rarely leave feedback but in this occasion I must.Wholeheartedly recommended.

One of or if not the best hotel I’ve stayed in for work. An absolutely brilliant host. Breakfast is really nice too. Claire is a excellent host who is really warm and welcoming. A very lovely lady. We stayed for a night at the Red Lion which had very clean, tidy and contemporary bedrooms. The bed was extremely comfortable and the en-suite shower was great. Breakfast was freshly cooked and we couldn't fault the stay. Would happily recommend and would return when next in the area.

On arrival we were not sure where to park as the pub is located in an area of narrow one way streets. I stopped outside and my wife went in to seek guidance. A gentleman came out and pointed down there. It is on a public pay and display next to the river. It did give us a feeling of not being ideal security wise. Only £2.8 for 24 hours, so no problem. We took our luggage a short walk to the Red Lion and a lady showed us to our room. This had been recently refurbished and was excellent and deserved 5/5. I am a light sleeper and was woken by a compressor that kept kicking in throughout the night. Also strangely, the landing light, which is on a motion sensor kept turn on when I turned in the bed. We had booked breakfast for 8:30 and we’re met by the gentleman who cooked it. It was delivered in good time and was fine. We finished eating the cooked breakfast and plates were collecvery promptly. Before we had a chance for toast or any fruit, it was cleared away whilst we were still sat at the table.I would have raised these issues on checkout if there had been anybody to speak to.

Have just returned from a long weekend at The Red Lion what a lovely place, the rooms are large and very clean with a lovely bathroom although the rooms are situated over the bar it is not noisy. Clair the landlady is very helpful and accommodating would highly recommend a stay here

what can I say, we booked to stay there for the weekend and had a great time, the rooms are very modern and comfortable, the pub/hotel is central to the main town but quiet, the breakfast is freshly made and plenty of choice, John, the owner made us feel at home and very welcome, the locals in the bar are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. yes very nice place to visit and stay. The hotel room we stayed in was really modern, and very clean, breakfast was so lovely with lots of options laid out, there is a bar and grill round the corner owned by the landlord, the menu was really good and the food was excellent. I left my childhood bear in the hotel bed and they posted it back to me, i really feel the owners here did everything they could. YOu will not find a lovelier place to say at.THANK YOU SO MUCH

Booked in overnight on a business trip staff were lovely very impressed with the room bathroom and also the tv. Free WiFi and food establishments local aswell as food available in the bar. Breakfast was fantastic and owner/occupier very friendly and cant do enough for you, will be back thank you.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Red Lion. The staff were helpful and we were amazed to find such luxurious accommodation upstairs. The bed was enormous, the bathroom was a large size, and there was everything we needed including lots of storage space. Downstairs there is a sports bar. We enjoyed the atmosphere, and didn't find the noise a problem in our room. The wifi was a bit flakey. Breakfast was generous and tasty. Parking is in a public car park about 3 mins' walk away: ￡2.50, no change given. This B&B would make a good base for a longer visit.

Although a sports bar is something I don’t go for it was fine!,we stayed there and all the rooms were recently renovated and very plush and clean,the host was very good and made a great breakfast,,I would recommend it for a good overnight stay! Good value as Well!

loud, noisy drunkards were drinking there, a bit intimadating. Music thats REALLY loud. Didn't know they did food as it looks more like a bar, not a place I'd choose to eat. All a bit grubby and sticky and too noisy. Staff were friendly enough though. Not my kind of place

Escondido en la vuelta de la esquina de la Plaza de autobús en bahías Finch, el Red Lion es un lugar favorito de mina para entrar para rápido pinta de cask cervezas locales con aire acondicionado entre conexiones de autobús. Una mesa de billar y dardos proporciona entretenimiento adicional. Un nuevo propietario se está actualizando el pub y añadiendo habitaciones para los huéspedes.

Buena cerveza británica en un jardín de verano. Aseos muy limpios. En la terraza se permite fumar, mkientras en el interior se respira un ambiente de Pub de los mas gernuinos.

Visitamos el año pasado león rojo y decidimos ir de nuevo y ver el Liverpool vs juegos de Newcastle. Las comidas que teníamos incluido Rogan Josh de pollo, bistec pastel y bistecs. Todo muy bueno y Liverpool ganó de nuevo. Sin duda volveremos otra vez la próxima vez que estemos en la chaqueta.

After trying a few pubs with bar meals in Cardigan, this was the best we have had for a long time and not just in Cardigan.Very reasonably priced,lots of well cooked food and a very friendly couple who run it --went twice.Definitely would go back again.

Visitamos este pub en nuestra visita a Cardigan el martes pasado. Estábamos visitando el mercado de St Dogmael y nos preguntábamos hasta la calle para encontrar comida servida a un precio razonable.

tuvimos una muy buena comida de pub mientras contempla Liverpool vs hombre ciudad. estupenda comida e incluso una mejor resultado! relación calidad precio fue muy buena también.
