Costa Coffee in Ceredigion

I was severed today by a very charming, customer service focused employee at this Costa. She has served me before and as ever never fails to impress, Lisa is definitely an asset to Costa and indeed this Costa store in Aberystwyth. Thank you Lisa, keep up the fantastic work.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service, the lady that served me obviously has an issue with her lack of customer service skills. Seems like nothing changes, I have been served by this lady before, attitude was disgraceful then. Maybe she should consider another job that’s not customer facing!

Very sited Costa whilst in Aberystwyth. The shop was nearly empty which suited both my wife and myself. I had the festive hot chocolate which I have had before but clearly the lack of people in the shop gave the barrista the time to do it properly. Really enjoyed my visit

Really patronising and rude member of staff who seemed to think I was unable to use my own phone for track and trace so continued to give me unwanted advice and proceeded to call me ‘love’ several time …. I’m 53, educated and tech-savvy 😡 Coffee lukewarm. Cafe untidy (cleaning bucket out in the middle of the cafe…. old files and a huge ceiling lampshade left out at the back of the cafe… scruffy and below usual Costa standards). I like Costa but…..there are plenty of delightful independent coffee shops in Aber so give this Costa a wide berth if you’re in town!!

Lovely visit and chat with the team. Al I think the store manger was amazing shame about being an Arsenal fan.

Staff are always friendly and quick to serve. Sometimes there is a queue but never have to wait longer than 5 minutes. Best coffee in town by far.

Best coffee in town by far, The staff work really hard and are always pleasant to customers and are always on hand to help in any way. IF there is a problem with a coffee, they are on it straight away, Most customers don't complain on a website where they can hide. If you have a problem, talk to a member of staff, don't bitch and moan, talk and sort it out. Maybe 1JLJ should go and find somewhere else to have a coffee and he can find somewhere else to bitch about. I have had coffees from here since it opened, if I have had a problem with a coffee in the past, I have let the staff know, and they have sorted it straight away. If you don't like the service go else where.

I am a regular here, customer service is never great! Always better when the manager is on or about. Today customer service and attitude of the staff was absolutely disgraceful - is there a need to speak to customers in this way? Not only the attitude of the staff was a disgrace it gets worse, I didn’t receive what I paid for!! I asked for a large cappuccino, certainly not a large, it had a 1/4 of liquid and 3/4 of froth - this is not the first time this has happened! Manager - I will be speaking with you next time I’m in store. I certainly hope that the member of staff will be on duty next time in on and we speak!

My husband and I love Costa coffee so when we are out and about we stop at Costa but our base is Aberystwyth which has amazing and friendly staff but when going north we stop at Portmadog there's a Portuguese member of staff there that's very rude she's spoken to me on two occasions that's very unsettling last time it was about doing the track and trace I informed her that i do it myself once I'm seated she was very rude shouting over café everyone was looking on i don't feel i want to go there because of her i want to make an official complaint about her but who to we spend a lot at Costa

By far the worst costa ever ! Felt Ill after drinking my late or to be exact yep mouthfuls of my late the rest is n the bin ! The speed of service was akin to that of being served by snails ! Now 2 days later back in town at coffee 1. Nice welcome, nice coffee and dog friendly! I now await reply from costa customer services as I was Going to all EHO but welsh got in the way Give this costa a miss !!!!!

Always serve quality coffee and cake with comfortable seating. Enjoyed a half hour break with my grandchildren

I go to the cafe to meet friends regularly about twice a wheel it is comfortable and staff are friendly. The coffee is good and the occasional bacon roll is to be recommended.

Chaos. Four members of staff on duty. Absolute chaos with dirty tables, tables not cleared, tables used to pile dirty dishes on. Yes they were busy but no organisation whatsoever. Staff standing around talking to each other instead of tidying the place up to make room for new customers. It’s never a great experience at this Costa but today just terrible. One good thing the staff attitude was very pleasant today and very much unlike the usual at this costa.

As a regular at Costa coffee shops I experience varying degrees of customer service.

Absolutely appalling. The staff don’t seem to know what they are doing. Over 10 minutes from order to collect. Empty too!

Nothing new to report here coffee was good which is the main thing , staff friendly the place itself was a bit battered around the edges and could do with a lick of paint but all that said would I nip in tomorrow for a coffee ... yes

If course the coffee is good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Some good deals on good such as meal deal for less than £5. Loyalty scheme takes ages to get free drink, about 15 visits I reckon. The shop is due an update. It has a feel of a canteen rather than a relaxed atmosphere. Very few armchairs or sofas. There is often a queue for the single toilet on the ground floor, it needs redecorating and you can only access it with a 4 digit code.

Entered Costa Coffee in Aberystwyth today with our dog after seeing two dogs in the shop, to be told that dogs are not allowed. When I challenged the Barista she told me they didn’t realise the dogs where in the cafe until it was too late.

Whilst in Aberystwyth decided to have a coffee.hot chocolate. Drinks didnt seem as hot as could have been, needed a code to access the toilets but ok

A warm welcome from the counter staff and a good selection of food and drink. Quick service and a nice cafe environment in which to enjoy the fare and relax.

I believe that these type of places are overpriced. I prefere buying my mug of tea in a local café. However, my wife fancied a small luxury caramel and my daughter fancued a small luxary chocolate at £2.95 each. It didn't break the bank, and they both enjoyed.

1. Always Ran out of syrups. Came 3 days and no caramel syrup for salted caramel crunch, no lemonade for iced teas . 2. Unclean. Floor dirty, tables Sticky 3. Staff unsure about allergens . Took 5 mins to figure out what has nuts in.

I've always loved a Costa ;). This place is no exception. Always tidy. All the staff are great. Latte always perfect. 11/10 . Definitely the best high st coffee chain.

I always pop in for a coffee and a sandwich when i'm in Aberystwyth. The staff are all great. It's always spotlessly clean. No Puddles of tap water in the bathrooms like some places. Service is always fast and polite. Everyone who works there is really nice. There is more than enough seating and I nearly always get the seat I'm after ! Plus there is a lot more seating upstairs if you don't mind a climb ! Costa make my favourite lattes and they are just so superior to Starbucks in every way that it's not even fair ! Keep up the good work guys ! xx

Came for a quick morning coffee, while visiting Aberystwyth. All you would expect from a Costa, good coffee and pleasant service !

Visited Aberystwyth for a few days, I love my costa coffee shop and always go in store wherever I go. The coffee shop is understaffed, especially on Friday morning. Just having one member of staff is crazy and the queues of people was almost out the door. We asked for the bacon roll to be lightly toasted for 1 minute. The lady said I can’t do that yet we know they can, after a debate she then said oh yes I can do that. When you go into a coffee shop and the member of staff isn’t friendly, it ruins the whole experience of enjoying your coffee. It’s a shame!

Visited the shop, we ordered and I wanted s choc chip frostino. The young man said we don’t have choc chips we are out of stock but we can still do it. He took the money and I went to pay, when in the middle of the transaction a girl at the coffee machine swung round and interrupted the conversation to say, we can’t do it we can’t use flakes? The young man looked shocked and was embarrassed to then apologise to me to say I couldn’t have the drink?

Decent coffee and good cakesand pastries. Serviceslow, because a new staff member was being trained - perhaps Saturday afternoon is not the best time for this?

Service is always great and the staff are so friendly and helpfull! Always get a smile with service here!

If ever in doubt or can't decide where to go, Costa is always a good idea. The Aberystwyth branch is no different. The same friendly service and decent coffee.

Lovely cup of coffee but I really do hate it when my mug is handled by the rim. I don’t want someone’s fingers around the rim of the mug I’m just about to drink from. Use the handle - that’s what it’s there for!

Costa Coffee Shops are everywhere and usually there is a lack of engagement with the staff - it’s a franchise with acceptable coffee.

I cant imagine what its like out the back in the kitchen if the toilets arent even fit for human use! Service wasnt much better to be fair!

A quick visit to top up the caffeine level after walking around Aberystwyth for the afternoon. Usual Costa affair, good staff and good coffee. Quite spacious too, suspiciously so given the small frontage.

The worse Costa coffee on earth. Baristas have no knowledge about coffee or milk. They always burn milk and the only black coffees are americano and espresso. Americano tastes like mug and espresso is not something I want to drink with a cake. I wish there were another Costa in Aberystwyth cause it was my favourite big company café before.

This is a lovely Costa. I find the service to be speedy and the atmosphere to be relaxed. The staff always seem to be happy to help and it's a place I find I can go with a toddler where you aren't being judged constantly. Enjoyed my hot chocolate and my little monkey enjoyed his cake very much!

Great little Costa coffee cafe as expected, but with faster service than the average. Very clean, friendly staff.

Visited for afternoon break looking around the town. Everything you would expect from this chain and the new frostinos are good! Everything clean and service quick.

Nos frío después de nuestra caminata, así que tuvimos un estupendo café y tarta. Personal tan centrados en conseguir nuestra orden de bebidas les ordenan olvidó darnos nuestros pasteles; nos dimos cuenta y preguntó de nuevo y tuvimos que estado pasteles que habíamos comprado. Por desgracia, el personal no era el más atento que supongo que aún tenía que llegar a ir.

Como he dicho antes siempre vamos a Costa cuando en Aberystwyth. El personal es siempre amable y sirve excelente café. Tengo que decir que siempre son la aclaración de la mesas de personas han dejado mantener limpio y bonito. -

Café clásico que va con cara de las cadenas hoteleras. Chocolate caliente está bien hasta llegar a mitad y se convierte en algunas partes están. El té es absolutamente terrible.

Me gusta ir a costa y a menudo conseguir de los refrigeradores, o ir cremoso si estoy sentado en una taza de té.

I go in on Wednesday and Friday morning first thing for a coffee and I cannot praise the staff enough. They are always chatty and friendly and make a good cup of coffee. I can take in my own mug and get money off for recycling! I love my caramel coffee in the morning.

We go to Costa Coffee Cafe's where ever we go and have to say the coffee is very good in most Costa's. The difference here is the staff are always friendly and get to know there regular customers which makes a difference. The staff here always keep the place clean and tidy clearing tables as soo as they can.

Although not the best coffee in the world, it is reliably good, the Baristas know what they are doing, the machines are well maintained and if you get a bad coffee you can tell them and they'll change it.

That having been said although Costas are Costas there are differences. The service here is quick and friendly and they can actually make a Cappuccino. Even at Costa Coffee you can get dud ones on occasion. Good for a quick coffee when shopping in town.

Best Costa :) The people are awesome, the atmosphere is awesome, it's my favourite place! You should try it!

Recently visited while on business in the town, not a great deal to say really. Typical costa coffee, though friendly service is to be praised and also quick service, only let down was toilets were a little dirty otherwise recommended

All pretty good here to Costa's desired high standards, the only reason for dropping to a 4 star rating in because it was awkward for my wife to order sugar free syrup. (she is diabetic) It was as if they were not sure what it was. In the end they had one type, which is OK, if not ideal. Everything else was fine. Good friendly venue for chat and good quality fare.

there were 4 members of staff behind the counter and none of them offered to serve us or spoke to us or offered to serve us even though the members of staff were chatting together so we decided to leave and seek a more convivial atmosphere after explaining to the staff members about the non existent service that we had received.

We call in for coffee when we go to Aberystwyth. The cafe is always clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. As always the coffee is first class.

I'm not normally a fan of coffee shops as they are the same in which ever town you visit , but this costa coffee is great because of the staff . They make every visit a really pleasant one, plenty of Nice food choices and great soya latte .

As we could not get wifi where we were staying we used Costa Coffee facilities. Staff very friendly and very obliging with requests.We sat for a couple of hours each time we went in and were always made to feel welcome with no push for us to leave.Would recommend a visit for coffee and cake (they do a nice lemon tart).

There is nothing special about this Costa. The staff are friendly but the coffee quality is variable. There's a room upstairs that is generally quiet so good if you want some peace or if you have a large group

After a long day sightseeing it was nice to relax in a comfy seat & have a coffee & cake. The place was nice & clean, the staff were friendly & helpful & they made us feel welcome.

This place has undergone a refit since last time we visited, it's the usual Costa Coffee range, but available in a really smart clean environment, with very warm and pleasant staff.

Needed another shot in my Latte to taste the coffee, manager was very friendly and helpful,The 'Expert Barista' was more interested in talking to other members of staff than paying any attention to customers

Visited for a morning drink. You know what you're going to get from a chain. Service was a bit slow as there were only two people behind the counter. My wife's coffee was good and I enjoyed my hot chocolate. Wi-Fi was a bit dodgy and kept dropping out.

A really good consistent coffee, the staff are friendly, and nearly always busy, early morning is the best time to relax there.

We popped in this morning for a quick cuppa with our friends. The usual tasty coffee and nice selection of cakes. It was busy but would have been nice if I hadn't had to clear the table of the cups from the previous person myself.

I am a costa member and it's nice to see another premises. I was not disappointed. The selection of cakes was lovely and made the morning.

In no way can I fault this Costa Coffee. The staff are always very polite and helpful. Drinks are always of a high standard. My father is in a wheelchair and will not go anywhere other than this Costa as he is treated so well. It's lovely to see a large chain have a very personal touch.

I was a regular visitor at Costa with my family but stop visiting cos of a new coffee shop in town . gone back to Costa just before Christmas with a friend , felt like home again and staffs are awesome. Really back for good now . Love it there , staff know their customers .

Friendly staff and good coffee . The baristas happy to remake coffee if not to your liking .Light filled comfortable space with a good selection of light snacks and cakes . On recent visit it was the first choice when taking elderly parents for afternoon coffee and cake .

I always visit a COSTA Coffee shop if there is one a available. I have been going to this one for years. The staff are efficient and friendly and the coffee is great!

Great coffee and cakes in attractive setting. On a damp day we were glad to sit down and rest at a very attractive Costa Coffee shop in Aberystwyth.

Called in as I was shopping in the town...Yes, Comfortable enough...but overpriced as in all Costa Fortune places......but this was half warm slush...sorry.....it was just horrid.

We use this Costa about once a week and have never been disappointed. The Staff are always friendly and it is always nice and clean even when busy.

Lovely coffee, lovely staff! However always hard to find a seat so tend to not go in much now. Comfy sofas!

We found it so cold sitting in this Costa that we were obliged to keep our jackets on. It was cold outside and we really wanted somewhere warm for a coffee! A customer at the adjacent table also commented on how cool the cafe was. Another negative point is that the cafe is rather cluttered with tables and chairs and this detracts from its ambience. On the other hand, the staff were pleasant and the coffee was drinkable, as Costa coffee usually is, even if it is rather far removed from the quality of a well-made Italian coffee.

8am in the morning. 9 degrees outside. Air conditioning set to cold.Are they having a laugh? You don't have to be clever to notice everyone's wearing parkas & thermals.Told the 'manager' - she went back to her barista buddy to complain about the brain dead customers...How great to be always correct.

The staff listened, they served exactly what we required, in a polite, humorous and timely manner. Much better than their London branches. A real coffee time treat.

We stopped here 20 minutes before closing and we're abruptly told that we would have to have take away as it was shutting early (which we were about to ask for anyway!). This was after the guy making the coffee had muttered to the guy serving "they'll have to wait as ive started shutting the machine down". Tbf the guy serving us did look embarrassed. Maybe some staff training wouldnt go a miss!!!

We always find this Costa very good. The tables are cleared quickly when people leave and always wiped clean. We have had different coffee's here and always very satisfied with them.

Friendly helpful staff; excellent coffee. Always go there when in Aberystwyth for a coffee and a snack - don't go anywhere else. Really enjoy visiting. Strongly recommend.

No better or worse than any other costa really, it has a lot of seating which is good but the staff could do with smiling.

since its refit and new management this costa is great, always clean and the staff are always friendly and seem to be happy to work there, tried there new limited edition coffee today, cost 20p extra but is a great taste.

This costa was very busy when we visited (obviously very popular),struggled to get seats but a table did eventually come free. Ordered three lattes and was usual good costa standard and staff were pleasant.

As a regular here the customer called dyntan (roger Bennett) is known to bully the staff and be very obnoxious towards them and other customers, he was asked to stop being rude to the staff but refused to acknowledge the fact he is

Not keen on the taste and most seats at the back of the premises. That might have something to do with Council not giving them planning permission in the first place to have it on the main street of the town. Popular with students it can be very noisy.

I'm really surprised by many of the other reviews on this venue. Personally, I have never received a bad experience here. I often bring my kids in and the staff always say hello to them and make me and them feel welcome. The ladies that work here have always been friendly and helpful. They even make an effort to remember my order, though they don't presume I'll have the same thing all the time. My only complaint if any is that since I started coming here the take out coffee cups have significantly reduced in size. I realise that this is not the staffs fault but it is a shame and has been noted by many other customers.Otherwise, all I can say is that I enjoy going for a cup of coffee here and as such like many others can probably be considered a "regular".

In stark contrast to my 2013 review (other than the colours which are still lovely, and the managers who still make excellent coffee to the standard) this is probably the only coffee shop in which I have ever felt really unwelcome. An employee has now embarrassed me on at least two occasions by refusing to make my drink even though I now ask for my coffee in a take out cup so that anyone who is unable to reach the Costa standard doesn't have to sweat when serving me. Why anyone would sweat I don't know, as I don't complain to the managers or Head Office. I was embarrassed again today when another employee instead made my cappuccino in a take out cup as I sat there feeling quite dreadful at yet again being shunned. I appreciate the kindness shown by a third member of staff who engaged me in conversation

The coffee is always great in Costa, but is it worth it in Aberystwyth when the customer service is so poor? The manager is so rude, for example shouting "don't bother coming back" to some customers while I was there this evening. We all witnessed it, you could hardly avoid it, and it all makes for an uncomfortable experience. There are many charming little coffee shops in Aber that know the meaning of service with a smile, and in future I think I will stick with them.

Costa is my favourite coffee so I love this place but this little cafe is really lovely in a perfect position. Yum

I use costa most mornings, the coffee is always very nice and the staff are very polite,, even first thing in the morning!!

standard costa shop - expensive but nice coffee. Never buy food there as it's too pricey for what you get.Never get the same waiter there, but the last time we went we were served by a young female who barely said two words to us. Dull, unpleasant and lacking social skills. Why work somewhere which requires you to speak to customers???

I love Costa, especially Costa Aberystwyth. The staff are lovely, and the Assistant Managers makes everything to the Costa standard. The wifi did not work very well for me on the ground floor at the rear of the premises, but later the same day it worked very well towards the window end. I am a huge fan of the refurbishment: the colours, the space, the layout, the fabrics. They are all good, but to be honest I think that the company have messed up big time in opening a new first floor layout and not providing a dumb-waiter for customer orders and the return if dirty cups and glasses to the ground floor. It sort of screams out: 'accident bound to happen'.TIPS: (1) Ask for take-out cups if using the staircase including for any water, as if you slip you run the risk of a serious injury (as there are many examples of people falling and cutting themselves with glass while negotiating a staircase), and (2) The bathroom is spotless, and (3) The staff are probably the best in the U.K.ADVICE FOR MANAGEMENT: (1) It was dumb not installing a dumb waiter and you run the serious risk of a huge claim being made.

Usual costa coffee shop, good coffee, food expensive and not worth it but the manager who has been there for years is so rude to his staff and can't make a latte! Time he moved on...

Typical chain, know what you'll get but not much atmosphere. Would rather opt for the more family orientated coffee shops around - sorry!
