Sunday lunch for a roast dinner, everything was just as we liked it. Plenty of gravy, roast and potatoes etc. Service was quick, choice of 5 puddings was equally good. All round just about spot on.

A warm welcome, a lovely cosy and very clean pub. The food was not great.... two of the party had chicken curry which was okay, I had the beef and ale pie which was not good; it was served in an oval pie dish with a puff pastry lid but no bottom. The description was beef and ale but to be honest there was no meat(well two small pieces which I found) and loads of carrots in a gloopy gravy, all in all incredibly dissapointing. on a plus note the food was served hot but the service was very slow and considering that we were the only people in there this was very odd. we sat with our finished meals for a good half an hour before they were cleared. when asked how our food was (after we had finished eating) I mentioned the almost complete lack of meat in the pie but it was not adressed. Such a shame, in many ways its a really nice country pub but unfortunately I have to conclude that the food is poor.

My husband, my daughter and I booked Sunday lunch here to be close to local railway station. We were welcomed warmly by two very friendly young ladies. The Pub was delightful and we enjoyed a delicious lunch. I would definitely recommend The Red Lion as a place to for a warm welcome and delicious food. Will definitely be going again.

visited the red lion with my wife and my assistance dog, this beautiful village pub now welcomes dogs thanks to the new landlady &landlord and what a wonderful welcome we received from both of them. the red lion has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, spotlessly clean throughout and very popular with local people, it has a very good choice of food on the menu, what we chose was home cooked perfectly and of a very good quality, all served very efficiently. the well stocked bar has a fine selection of well kept real ale, lagers & spirits. the landlady/ landlord and their team exemplified what customer service is all about, and now for sure the red lion is the Best pub/ restaurant in this part of powys. Yes 5 Star in every way, thanks to Dai, Lindsey and their staff, we had a very enjoyable evening.

The atmosphere in this quaint little local was lovely. The staff couldn’t do any more to help and were very friendly. The food was delicious, home cooked and good value for money. If you need somewhere to feel at home whilst you’re away, or just need the comfort of a local, this is the place. Dogs are also welcome, which is awesome, and the open fire/log burner was a homely and warming touch.

Absolutely wonderful afternoon in the pub. Recently been taken over with new managers they now allow dogs in the bar area and they are also doing food, contrary to what previous reviews have said. A really great pub with loads of character and atmosphere and great food. Locals made us feel very welcome. All in all a really fabulous experience and highly recommended

The owners of the cottage we stayed in warned us that the Red Lion was not great after changing hands and having visited I'd have to agree. The pub seems like it's fallen on hard times or maybe the new owners just don't care? I don't think they still do food (at least there was no sign they do) and the selection and condition of the beers is abysmal. Such a shame because the village is lovely and deserves better.

We are a family of 10 staying on holiday a stones throw away from The Red Lion. When we arrived at our holiday home we had a wander up and stopped for a few drinks. The owners were lovely and not phased at all by our large and noisy family taking over! Good range of drinks on offer and bar snacks. It’s a very traditional old pub, with a lovely outdoor area at the back and a pool room at the front, with a separate area for eating to the side. Whilst we were there we booked a table for Sunday lunch and when we arrived on Sunday it was as pleasant as it had been when we last went. I presume it’s all family who work there, all very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us! They had completely rearranged the dining room to fit us in comfortably on one long table, and also a booster seat for our 2 year old. The meat options were beef or pork, both of which were absolutely delicious, so tender, and they were served with a huge variety of veg, cauliflower cheese, potato’s, gravy, all the trimmings! I liked the fact that the extras were served separately to help yourself rather than piled on the plate for you. It was all fresh and clearly home made. They even made some chicken and chips for some of the children who didn’t fancy the roast dinner, which was really appreciated. After such a lovely lunch we had to sample the deserts which again were all fantastic! Thanks for a lovely meal and we will be back before we go home for another drink (or 6)!

The Red Lion is the pub in the village and clearly pretty old although it has been extended at some point. The bar is dark and old and well stocked with draught beers and also a real ale. We had their Sunday lunch which was either roast lamb or roast beef. It came almost immediately accompanied by masses of vegetables and potatoes plus lashings of gravy. It was ok. I had the spotted dick and custard and I was disappointed in it- the pudding was tasteless and the custard not very sweet. It was, as I say, ok and reasonably priced but I will not be rushing back.

Myself and 3 friends visited the Red Lion for a drink and some food. We met Bruce the owner as soon as we arrived, and he and his cronies gave us a warm Welsh welcome. We immediately felt at home and Bruce and his staff could not do enough for us. We returned the following night for more excellent banter and to sample more of the excellent ‘Three Tuns’ ale. I’m definitely visiting the Red Lion again sometime soon!

We were all set to have a couple of pints (7 adults, one 4 year old and a little dog) on a cold and dark Friday (and Saturday) night because we were staying locally for a family weekend get-together. After a 10 minute walk, we arrived to a totally empty pub but could not go in because of the dog. It's such a shame because we had planned the trip based on the fact that the pub was in walking distance and we love finding new places locally. The barperson was very jolly but apologetic that we couldn't go in. We found it very strange about the dog - I didn't find any info on websites in advance to say that dogs aren't welcome - that would be very useful. We are used to being wholly accepted in Yorkshire, The Lake District, Shropshire etc and go regularly, so this was very disappointing. However, if you don't have a canine friend, I'm sure that it is a lovely pub with lovely food as the human reviewers have testified!

A fantastic pub in the smallest of villages but what a gem. You enter the bar and get a great welcome from Bruce the owner always smiling and willing to help with anything. On selecting a drink the Rattler hits the Spot but don’t go mad it’s 7.5% When you have selected your drink you can look at the blackboard to see what scrumptious delights await you in the restaurant. Handing over to Sylvia you can get some really wholesome home cooked food with portions to fill the biggest of appetites. Again nothing is a problem here with orders taken and dispatched with the greatest of ease. Certainly worth a look be it for a quick pint or a meal it certainly delivers on both counts.

Second time I've stayed at the Red Lion. All the staff are friendly and the beer is well kept and a good selection ( RevJames recommended), the evening food is typical pub stuff, cheap and adequate, simple to prepare and serve. The Bengal Brasserie just 25 m up the road gives a bit of variety with the Bangladeshi touch. The accommodation is getting a bit tired and the rooms at the front of the pub being on the main street through the town are a bit noisy at times, particularly with the window open. The bed/duvet / towels were clean.I did notice that the rubbish in the pub car park which had been there since my last visit in August was still there, not a big effort required to tidy the place up?Parking on the street overnight or in the free car park behind the pub is ok if space is not available in the pub car park ( only 6 spaces)Overall good value for money, a good breakfast and a friendly lounge bar, not a problem for another visit in 2017!

Tuvimos el almuerzo de domingo en el Red Lion hace un par de semanas y nos quedamos muy contentos con la experiencia. Mi marido y yo elegimos el cordero que era bueno. We popped in while stopping at a self catering cottage near by. Yes, to be fair when we first arrived (three kids in tow) everyone did look around and stare. But within a few minutes we were chatting to both staff and locals. Ended up feeding the kids there so we could have an extra pint, home made chicken nuggets (sorry chef, chicken chunks) what more can I say :) Perfect winter beer garden too :)The red lion is a shoo in to our top 10 temporary locals, we'll be sure to book in for sunday lunch next time we're in town. Only downside was a huge rowdy group of rugby lads swearing and saying all sorts.... But this is to be expected on a Saturday night !

A pleasant meal with excellent service but very quiet, i suppose thats usually to be expected in January. Probably the nicest salmon we've had with a scrumptious cheese cake to follow and lovely white wine too. Waiter had a good sense of humour and kept us entertained on a quiet night and said "don't forget us on Tripadvisor" so here it is! Quickly cooked and delivered to our table with genuine warmth and a smile. Better than our first visit last summer but we don't like to make a fuss as it seemed full of holiday makers and a little short on waiting staff we hope you enjoyed your after work pint Johnny, Dean and Jenny x
