Red lion in Cherwell

My husband and myself came to this pub for lunch today and the food was fantastic. The bar staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was lively.

What a brilliant night. Had a live band playing which was awesome. There was great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Best local pub around!

Food not the best . Sunday roasts on the menu. When ordered had to have turkey as no chicken was available . Small portions and hard undercooked vegetables. Whole place smelt of damp .

A good local pub, staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is good. Regular live entertainment at the weekends. Drink selection is good and is at a pretty standard price for the area. Food is well priced and decent quality.

A fantastic meal with the family and super friendly and welcoming staff throughout or visit,would recommended good value for money we will be returning 😀

just like another user , totally blindsided by a parking fine for using the parking facilities that are literally intergrated into the grounds of the pub. there is no obvious partition. no obvious call to action regarding parking there. Generally 100% of other pubs i have attended dont have on site car parking facilities managed by a 3rd party. this is basically a scam set up by euro car parks where i am certain about 95% of attendeeds end up getting the fine. Red Lion you need to put a big sign saying car park isnt free or even a fence between this park and your pub as a matter of course of just complicit in this obvious scam

I booked a table for lunch with my 3 cousins. We received a warm welcome from Rebecca and Tamsin. After deciding what we wanted to eat and drink both Tamsin and Rebecca took our order, supplied us with water and glasses and were very friendly. The food arrived from the lunchtime menu and although the mains was on the small size the good size delicious pudding and at less than £10 for the 2 courses, there were definitely no complaints. With friendly and chatty staff, good tasty food at a reasonable price, we will be returning.

The Red Lion Pub in Kidlington is a fantastic spot for a relaxed meal or drink. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a great selection of beers and traditional pub fare. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you feel right at home. A great local gem!

Lovely staff and a great meal. We had bbq chicken wings, cheesy garlic bread, sausage and mash & crispy chicken ciabatta. All was delicious!

I have used this pub for many occasions and I have always found the food especially the mixed grill always cooked perfect, big shout out to the kitchen team. I am in a wheelchair and i absolutely love coming to this pub they treat me with very good repect and are very friendly and help in every way they can which i love and make me feel very welcome and the toilet facilities are brilliant too even when my club arranged to come here the Phab club they really enjoyed it so we are planning another visit soon. I truly love this pub i wouid definatly recommend it to others staff and atmosphere is great and i wish i could give more stars as it a excellent pub and and atmosphere

It’s been changed management a few times and had refurb on interior a few times, but still good. Service is good, and pub can be busy when football is on. For food I had the classic fish and chips which was good, warm and fresh. The drinks nice and cold. The interior was clean as well as the toilets. There is plenty of free parking - though you need to remember to enter your vehicle registration number on their tablet near the bar.

Stopped in for a quick Tuesday night bite to eat. Food was quick, and service was great. Nice atmosphere for a Tuesday evening. Definitely recommend.

Popped in en route home after trying some other local pubs. Ordered at the bar and we were greeted by a lovely member of staff named Rachel. I have coeliac disease and she went out of her way to make sure I knew what was available to me. She recommended the gammon and after perusing the menu we both decided on that and it was really good. Prices were reasonable and the food was good. Really pleased.

Went in on a saturday night for a drink and was pleasantly surprised they had live music! Not many pubs have live music anymore so we were over the moon! Had a few ‘bar’ snacks before and they were definitely worth the money! We were served by chloe, she was fantastic and so friendly !

Went there after visiting Blenheim palace. Had a young baby and a puppy with us, Annabel and Heather were really lovely and couldn’t do more to help!

I didn't fancy cooking and washing-up a Sunday roast. The friendly staff were able to accommodate my family on short notice, and I had an easy afternoon.

Oxford United in the final Wembley, an amazing event, I took my mum who is not in great shape quite frail to the red lion where she watched The match on the TV in the red lion pub, along with an amazing meal and she had a dessert in the second half of the match, we were very well looked after by Chloe, a very enjoyable day.

I came here with my family I have to say the food was absolutely delicious and the wide veriaty of food and drink was incredible, the staff was bubbly and kind so I didn't feel awkward they were also very professional ,the pub was clean and the tables were sparkeling,I will definitely be back soon 👍

Great classic sausage sandwich with a perfectly gooey egg compressed between two fluffy slabs of delicious bloomer bread. Can’t believe the chef even came out to ask if it was alright. Majorly impressed. Great cheeky stop off 👍🏼

Went for a family meal at this pub, shame the language of the customers wasn't appropriate for the atmosphere, a man in the bar decided to be his own DJ playing music really loudly on his phone. Burger was over-cooked, table and menus were sticky and grubby, from our table we had a direct view of the urinals every time the gents door was opened. The staff being friendly is the only positive thing to say, if it hadn't been for the kids being hungry, as it was a last minute stop on a long drive, we would have gone elsewhere.

Beware everyone who visits this pub. They do not let you know about the parking charge even if you are just collecting people who have spent money in the place. Run by euro car parks and you will find yourself with a hefty fine despite people having spent money there. Don't go there - plenty of other very decent places to drink and dine. TripAdvisor have recommended that people should not bother visiting this pub.

It’s a big pub with something for everyone. Sport on TV if you want it, but there’s plenty of space to get away from it if you don’t. Lots of separate areas make it perfect for a quiet drink or a big meet-up with friends. Plenty of parking, which is free as long as you remember to enter your reg number at the bar. Lovely, friendly staff, an open fire and a pleasant atmosphere. Great choice of drinks too. Live music on the weekends is excellent, but the place is big enough to get away from it if that’s not your cup of tea (although it is mine). In my opinion, it’s a pub that does food, rather than a restaurant with a bar. Having said that, the food I’ve had there has been pretty good too. It’s the staff that make a place good, and these guys have nailed it.
