Lucy and Bee were amazing, brilliant food and brilliant service!

Nice local pub. Staff friendly and was pleasantly surprised how much good value both the food and drink was. We went on a Sunday afternoon with friends and we all had a great time.

Came in for lunch with my disabled mother, staff were excellent. Lucy and Layla could not do enough for us. Would recommend visiting.

I have been coming to the Red Lion for many years, the whole team are great but Lucy is my favourite. Would recommend popping in and meeting the team.

We had two really good meals at the Red Lion in Portchester. Layla was one of the people who helped us both meals, along with another younger bartender/server (she was great too, I just didn't catch her name). Layla was super friendly and helpful. The people in both groups at both meals enjoyed their food. They have breakfast all day long there that I really enjoyed. Their chips and mac & cheese are also delicious. I gave everything five stars except atmosphere, only because it's a pub. It's not a five star restaurant. It's a pub, and I'm not putting down pubs. If you're looking for some drinks or an affordable, delicious meal in a pub with a friendly staff, you're going to have a great time in the Red Lion in Portchester.

The food was absolutely delicious, affordable and well presented. There was a bit of a wait from the kitchen, but this was well communicated by the staff. The cutlery, plates and tables were kept very clean. The booths are very comfy but, due to the location, the view is not the greatest (unless you like watching busses go by, then it's a 10/10). Service was absolutely excellent from everyone and all through the meal the staff were checking in to make sure we had everything and we were happy with the food. Empty cups and plates did not stay on the table for long. Toilets are kept in a very good state. The decor around the place was very Portsmouth-centric with a very tongue-in-cheek sense of humour when it came to the bar signs. It's well decorated but it is a bit tired in some areas and could do with minor refurbishment (the cushions of the booth we were sitting in had started to split at the seams, for instance). Parking behind the building is free all day and there are plenty of spaces. All around a wonderful pub and I would highly recommend it.

I havent been to this bar for a while, when I did I was welcomed by the staff and felt very comfortable during my visit. A lady called Lucy was behind the bar and although very busy she seemed to enjoy her job. Service with a smile always goes a long way, thank you Lucy.

Great evening drinks and meal with a friend. Service was quick and the bartender Lucy was friendly and helpful ... even went to clean the toilets when I noticed how some disgusting customer had left them ! Most of the staff are lovely here .

Good experience, nice servers on the bar, good check backs, food was tasty and chicken was succulent.

My football team and I are regulars every week. Lucy always gives us great friendly service. Lots of screens, so always have a good view of any sport that’s on.

Came to the redlion Portchester for some food, Jamie the landlord cooked me a burger it was amazing, the server Lucy was very friendly and talked me through all the options to build my own burger, I rate her service 10/10. Would highly recommend popping down for some beers and food

I recently went to the Red Lion for the first time in Portchester. I was served by someone called Lucy who was extremely helpful, kind and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!

Me and my son visited here on Sat 30th December, it was our first time here despite only living less than a mile away. The food was lovely, hot and tasty. But the best part of our visit was the lovely lady who served us. She went out of her way to make my son comfortable, involved him in the ordering and even made his dessert herself, she is an asset to this pub! We will definitely be returning!

Had a lovely family meal here, I had the Sausage and Mash in a Giant Yorkshire. Great portion size and very tasty. Great service from the team too throughout. Nice work!

Popped in for an Xmas day drink with my children … Was served by Layla who was polite and friendly and in the festive spirit . Although the pub was super busy and Layla was the only one on the bar the majority of the time , the service was super efficient and she worked hard to keep everyone as happy as possible . We had a great time … Will certainly be visiting again

Don't recommend the food here. Very slow service, Christmas fayre very disappointing, food was cold. Veg cold and raw. Gravy congealed. Didn't complain as they were short staffed and ony one person doing all the cooking. Would not go back

What a great place for a drink and the manager Jamie is a great bloke and all the staff are friendly and it is the place to go on karaoke nights and disco will definitely be here for them. Great atmosphere for football as well

What a lovely meal I had which was a fish platter the new cook it to perfection and the manager Jamie and assistant Brandon are a funny pair but they are great and the barmaid Claire was brilliant she went above and beyond. Great place to come now

Nice pub , needs a bit of TLC but nothing major. Food was really nice and not over priced. Kid friendly with a child's menu. Football was on when we went so a bit noisy, was a good friendly atmosphere though! Quite small, and the front doors and windows all open up so the front of the pub is completely open to the street. Smoke tended to waft through easy as that's where the smokers went, didn't bother us though.

Thank you to the staff who were working last night (Monday 28th) we were well looked after and enjoyed our gins! Hunters topped chips were recommended and we totally agree!

Id like to say it's very welcoming walking into the pub, happy smiling faces behind the bar, we sat down food arrived not very long when we ordered. Meal came out not only looking good but tasted fantastic definitely be returning

Sorry but we waited over 50 minutes if not longer for our food - DO NOT EAT HERE !!! No forks or knives to find - felt sorry for the young lady behind the bar as lots of pointers no doers except here - will not come back !!!

Amazing food & staff! Fast service and amazing atmosphere.. great communication & staff always let you know about wait times for food especially in busy periods when the pub is full and everyone orders at the same time :) can’t fault them and we come every week and will continue to always come back especially for my full English breakfast which is always amazing! Classic British pub for fish and chippy. Had a pint or two. The chips were top quality and the fish was crispy.

Don’t normally leave reviews but thought I’d post as the red has massively improved. Back here for a few days for work and popped in earlier this evening. The place used to be a dive, looks like it’s been done up and staff are actually friendly now! Lucy was great and recommended a local Chinese, great selection of beers as well, although couldn’t resist a lovely Carling! 🤣😂🤣🍺

Nice vibe and good quality food at good prices

Had a breakfast at the Red Lion today, fantastic value for money, cheaper than Wetherspoons, more food for your money and one little thing, it’s hot unlike Wetherspoons where you just get Luke warm food that’s been sitting under a heat lamp, all 3 of us agreed that from now on that’s where we will be meeting for breakfast… l had the extra big breakfast, which was more than enough for me with no extras….. And the coffee was great, NOT endless amounts of refills that taste yuck, just a large cup of VERY nice coffee. To be fair, I’m not going to bother cooking and washing up for that money…. Well done to all the friendly staff that worked to make that happen…. Thank you
