Tried to give me glasses before they had been washed... Wife went to order food, but kitchen had closed early. 1/2 the table had food 1/2 didn't. It's a pub, you don't ask for much a drink in a clean cup and to order food before the kitchen closes.

Always good food and a good price. Staff are very friendly. Quiz night is always a giggle.

Just love this place! Staff are super helpful and friendly and the food excellent quality and a good price. They also did us proud for a family wake - cosy, relaxed, great spread, outside play area for the children, nothing was too much trouble - so grateful to the person who recommended them!

Popped in for lunch when visiting my mum. Great local village pub. Quite traditional and really friendly. Home made food and massive portions. I wish there was somewhere like this close to where I live.

Previously had great experience however Mother’s Day was a significant let down. It was pre booked therefore they should be prepared for the numbers but not so much sold out from beef roast to sides of cauliflower cheese and both deserts we wanted. Service was shocking, asked for a wine told no I’m doing the meat raffle (which ironically someone won beef!) no professional approach in any of the servers it was embarrassing to be honest we had guests that had never been there before flew over and will not forget the red wine spilt all over the table and handbag, roast swimming in gravy which we asked could we have on the side to be told no too late.

Superbly home cooked food (whitebait and prawn starters) (lasagne and hunter's chicken mains) generous portions too. Child portion, of same high standard and adequate for older children.

We like it here. The menu is quite comprehensive and always well cooked. Dog friendly yay, which is a total turn on or turn off for me ...

Excellent food with great vegetarian options. Have a play area out the back and scenic surroundings.

Reposting a review after yesterday! I've been visiting this pub for 30 years, have many fond memories and held a wake for my precious nan here. Sadly yesterday after a sad day saying my goodbyes to someone very special, we came to have a drink and feed my 4 month old baby. Upon arrival we were told straight away 'if you haven't booked there no tables but you can go outside'. It wasn't said in a warm manner and I was very offended by the inhospitable welcome. Didn't really find it suitable to feed my baby outside as it was really cold and we only wanted a coffee or soft drink ourselves. I am sure that we could have had a table for 20 minutes as your pub was empty with just set tables. I understand that money is to made from food service but I won't be stepping back in here for sure. We went to the White Horse with our hungry baby boy, who were lovely and let us use a reserved table. Not ever in 30 years of visiting pubs in Fareham, has one felt so cold and rude. Think it's new management, you won't keep your old customers coming back with that attitude! 4 years ago- Lovely pub that hasn't changed for years. Cosy in winter and great garden in the summer. Haven't sampled the food but heard its tasty!!

Beautiful pub! Lovely garden with children’s play area. Easy to get to off of the ferry, with lovely staff and atmosphere. Dog friendly, free parking, resident cats. Not to mention the amazing food. Exactly what we were looking for!

Wow, what a roast! Huge plate of yummy food with proper thick gravy. Not 5 star as had to change dad's pint as it was a but 'tangy' 🤣 he said they should have checked each tap before serving- he is old skool

Only called in for one drink. Ordered a beer and a fresh orange juice, they had no orange juice!!!!!!!!

Cosy and welcoming pub. Plenty of seating inside and out. Food is always absolutely delicious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Excellent for any occasion. Sunday Roasts are a absolute must.

Wonderful food ,lovely looking pub 😋

The food was nice. I would have liked some lettuce and mayo in my southern fried chicken burger, as it would be very dry without. Thankfully my aunt had a fair bit spare. A good range of beers/lagers. The atmosphere is lovely, the pub feels cosy and inviting.

Lovely old pub by the River Wallington, with a huge back garden with play area, and lovely feed and beer.

We visit quite often. I gave been very Ill so decided just to pop in for drink to see what the evening menu was like. Enjoyed it very much. Very dog friendly. A happy atmosphere. Will probably visit tomorrow evening after visiting mum in law.

Really good food, cosy surroundings.

Just moved to the local area and thought we would try the local. Lovely staff that made us feel welcome. We asked about bands and Sunday roasts and the staff knew everything we asked. Sat down to watch the rugby and have a pint, great atmosphere. Garden is huge with lots to do for the little ones. We will be back :)

Welcoming venue, very cosy and enjoyable.

Sunday lunch was great. Large portion, could barely eat it all. I have a food allergy which is not on the "usual" list and the staff took great efforts to ensure I wouldn't have a reaction, even making up different gravy for me. Service was a little slow,we might have had a dessert to share if someone had come back to the table after clearing the plates!

First time there after a funeral. Lovely people looked after us. Hopefully will visit on better times

Absolutely delicious food. The nut roast and vegetables perfectly cooked and piping hot. The sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream is to die for. The staff were wonderful, so helpful with my elderly mother, and even my super hungry husband was replete.

Amazing roast dinner. +Brilliantly cooked and every bit was full of flavour. +Generous portion of rich gravy. +Potatoes were soft and fluffy on inside with a nice crispness on the outside. +Beef was really good - not fatty +Turkey was very good - not dry. FYI this style carrot is meant to be served with skin on and tops & tails. One negative point - Children's play area needs some tlc. Bit of cleaning, put screws fully in, put the mats level and re-spread the wood chips (or whatever they are) around evenly. Will definitely visit again for another roast dinner.

Country pub grub in the town. Good sized portions. Unfortunate they did not top, tail and peal the carrots. Back ground music much too loud and unsuitable for the age of the customers

Service good and staff very welcoming. Food excellent. We had a small roast and it was all cooked to perfection, and plenty big enough for our smaller appetites.

Decent kids play area, although it's for slightly older children I took my 2 year old daughter on it and she was fine as long as I was with her, they had a good sized sheltered area which was handy when very hot and then started to shower. Overall our family had a great time, staff were friendly and helpful too!

Cob & Pen has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, polite staff, great beer garden, amazing for kids with the park and great food.

Our large group for a birthday was well looked after. Food was well prepared and generous with reasonable prices and friendly service. Much appreciated.

While there's nothing really wrong with this pub and the food was quite reasonable, I was a little less impressed with the staff member who served me and looked at me with obvious disdain (though was still very polite) when I asked for a well-done steak. I may not be a food connoisseur, but as a paying customer I expect you to just take my order and keep your opinions to yourself.

Beautiful food as always thoroughly recommend the Sunday roast for the price best roast in Fareham area. Dose get busy though so would recommend booking a table. Family friendly with a bouncy castle out back for kids. A good range of drinks on offer. Would highly recommend for a night out or a family lunch

Just had Sunday lunch 2.30 often lunch can be a bit over cooked by then but today perfect and lots to eat really to much. Would go again as we live in fareham but first time there met family all enjoyed it

The best roast dinner ever. Could tell it was all home made and the roasted tattys were the best I've ever had in a pub all fresh and pleanty of it , so much so we thanked the chef personally x 9 of us . The service was fabulous too , best meal for a long time would highly recommend xx

Being new to the area, we were looking for somewhere for Sunday lunch. Cob & Pen kept coming up in a Facebook group, so decided to go. Glad we did. Friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended.
