Great atmosphere, great staff, Lisa really goes the extra mile; however I have to make a special mention to Jakob who took solid control of the meat draw. A real family occasion, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Almost like a ‘meat bingo’ for all your culinary needs. I won; however we still had frolics with ‘Dave the Landlord’ who did not appreciated all the ripped up tickets being thrown his way. I would fully recommend this pub to all of my friends, and the £2 carlsbergs are a must. If football is not your thing, there are occasional screenings of Bullseye, or quiz shows of the 80s in the late evenings. An absolute must visit.

I booked a table for 18 and had 2 extra turn up at Sunday lunchtime, just want to say the food was delicious and the staff were great, would definitely visit agaiin

Lovely local with good food and a good vibe.

Came in after being disappointed by another local restaurant that wouldn't serve food without a booking. Very accommodating even though it was busy. Food was served quickly and very tasty, and good value for money. It's a much nicer place after it's refurb and we'll definitely come back.

Usual green king, good value menu. Food was nice and hot and served with a smile. There is a terrace to sit out on and plenty of car parking at rear.

Visited with a good friend from Bristol food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves.

Large venue, clean bathroom, friendly and accommodating staff. Food tasted great. Great prices. Lots of free parking and family friendly. Will visit again if ever in the area again for sure.

Just visiting for the weekend. Booked a table on recommendation of a family member. Easy to book. Very polite and friendly staff, plenty of car parking around the back. Ordered the food and came in good time, piping hot and absolutely delicious. Everything was cleared away and the desserts came out. The salted caramel Cheesecake dessert is a winner! The toilets were nice and clean. Very pleasant place. Definitely will go back again when in the area. 10/10 Highly recommend to anyone in the area or if your just visiting like we were.

The roast dinner was so lovely on the Sunday that we went back today for lunch 🙂. Great little find and perfect location for staying at Rockley Holiday park. Food portions were great, staff were friendly and the kids enjoyed the menu (even with an extremely fussy eater). Fantastic value also!

Had a lovely meal on Wednesday evening and a special mention to the guy behind the bar, tall with glasses who was very warm and welcoming.

Went with my friend for a lunch. Prebooked the table and that was right thing to do because it was pretty busy over there at the lunch time. Waiting time was OK, the food was good although they brought me not the dessert I ordered but as I said it was good as well. Also the food was reasonably priced, will definitely visit again.

First visit since the refit and very pleasantly surprised. Staff have always been great. The new decor is warming and brightens the place. Enjoyed my first meal on the new menu and will be back.

Nice pub. Good value and good food

12 of us were here for a meal for a 50th. This was an already busy Friday night with lots of drinkers and eaters! We all had piping hot, well cooked and delicious meals. Every one of us. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and efficient. We really cannot find any reason to fault them. We had a vegetarian and a gluten free bod and they had plenty of variety for us. Great food, great service and a very good price. I would highly recommend The Red Lion.

Fantastic value & even better quality. Service with a smile & also checked that it was all good. Will definitely be going back before we go home. Also had puddings. They we're just as great.

Never thought of visiting before but we were so impressed with the food and bar staff, we will definately return. Not going to lie looking at the menu and pictures we thought it's too cheap to be true but the steaks were amazing, big portions as well. Well done Chef! Bar staff was also superhelpful and friendly. (Just no more sticky tables and menu's please! The refurb looks great!)

This pub has completely changed for the better since the recent refit and is now at a much higher standard now. Good quality food for a very reasonable price.

Food was good 👍. Restaurant part was cold. Had to keep coats on while we ate. Bit of a wait for food, but busy and worthwhile waiting ✋️

A lovely afternoon meal with family, the refurbishment is great and new manager friendly and helpful. Great service at the bar and in the restaurant. Definitely will be returning regularly.

Pasta and brocoli undercooked, steak pie had a lot of nice meat but could have been cooked a bit longer as had a soggy bottom. Camenbear and gammon was nice.

Had our first visit a couple of weeks ago and we were both impressed with the quality of the food and the ambience. On that occassion we had the Breakfast brunch and it was very nice. Returned for the Sunday roast and we were not disappointed! Lovely food, terrific value for money, fabulous service. The bar staff and waiting staff are friendly, polite, and attentive. The new decor is warm and inviting, and defintely somewhere we will return to again and again.

Had 3 roasts this afternoon at 4.00 pm. Lovely atmosphere in pub, food hot and tasty, asked for extra gravy, no problems. Staff very friendly. Will definitely return.

Burger mix and match, very good value for money

Yesterday we had our first Christmas dinner at the Red Lion it was fantastic,there was four of us having starters ,mains and desserts ,We were all served together it was presented beautifully ,and the staff took care of us ,we could not fault the meal ,well done everyone and I hope more people will read this and bookings will go sky high.

Very efficient staff at bar service and at our table also. Our food was delivered with a smile and checked 10 minutes later with the same honest smile.

Food was cheap . But burgers were burnt to repeat the whole evening. So wouldn't recommend them again. But decor was done nice and staff were friendly.

Had the chip platter which was really good with cod being perfectly fried, the scampi tasting fresh and the battered sausage being really crispy. The salted caramel ice cream cake stole the show though and it’s up there 🙌🏽. The service was great and friendly and the you get great price value for the food

We visited Wednesday for burgers, the place was busy, we booked and food was served in about 20mins, portion sizes were generous and food was hot. Good value for money.

Visited today for lunch , we did have a bit of a wait for our food but were told this before ordering so we chose to wait and glad we did , food was excellent value for the money very enjoyable , lovely atmosphere and friendly staff , we will be back

Went to the recently renovated Red Lion Hamworthy today. We decided to have there all day breakfasts. The meals were reall tasty and filling, cooked perfectly, and to our surprise the price was 2 for 11.99. What a deal! The staff were warm and friendly. Will be going again very soon xxx

Booked a table was not shown to one we found are own table was very dirty and asked if it could be cleaned/remove old glasses etc they said they would but never did and to top it off we never got any food as it was then to late to order very dissatisfied as was only here for 1 night bar staff were ok and friendly

Excellent choice of food,staff very efficient , but two niggles . The tables need to be cleaned more as they weret@cky and sticky and the outside was a disgrace with broken glass and rubbish all over the parking area .

Can't comment on the food. We're not greeted on arrival. Menu items missing. Had booked but as we were not greeted we left.

Excellent service. Our waiter couldn't have been more attentive. Even though they were extremely busy, we were informed we would have to wait over an hour for food, and it arrived within 30 minutes. I even had a desert, and I could or perhaps should've shared it with the wife. However, she had opted for the crumble and ice cream combo, so I had to enjoy the Candy sundae 🍨 all by myself. Yes, it was a struggle, but I would wholeheartedly recommend it, but perhaps next time, as a sharing option. The decor in the pub is looking a bit dated, but I hear they are having a refit soon. So I look forward to seeing that. However,even if they don't, I would still recommend it.

Sunday lunch. Food was good and a decent portion, service was quick and friendly. Downside was seating arrangements in the long room, my chair kept getting knocked into because two chairs backed on to each other and created a narrow passage for people to pass. The main grumble was dogs being allowed into the main dining area where people were eating. There were four of us and we all said because of this we certainly would not eat there again. The owner of the red lion came back to me saying the dogs were special dogs There were three dogs with various people all were domestic pets with normal leads, one was a small dog sitting on a person's lap ( not a special dog) I would certainly not complain about a blind dog being there, but these were certainly not and as I said domestic pets.

Food was ok although the pub needs updating, its scruffy and dirty Toilets were not clean either Service was quick and friendly Not a good first visit unfortunately

We are holidaying in Dorset and stubbled across this pub .Even though the pub was extremely busy and we had quite a wait . The food was lovely and the staff very friendly and happy . The only thing I would say is the outside area really needs to be cleaned , lots of cigarette buts all over the floor and not very appealing when entering. Also the toilets were not clean and really need updating.

(Update at the bottom) The food was incredible for pub-grub and the most reasonably priced in the area. However this place is hugely understaffed and waiting for staff to check in for our booking or order drinks was a nightmare. It was incredibly busy, and our table had been drowned with drinks from the previous customers. The menus were absolutely drenched and soggy - however the staff did everything they could to rectify this and clean it up when we arrived. They did run out of steak for the mix grill and only informed us after we had paid, although I was able to swap out for a different dish even though it was more expensive. Despite being severely understaffed the food arrived in reasonable time and was impressively delicious. What I did find ridiculous was that customers cannot swap items out - since there was no steak, they would not let me swap it for extra gammon or any other item. The bathrooms were disgusting and had no soap - though this is down to being understaffed and the higher management will seriously need to invest more into the staff budget for this place to do well. UPDATE:- Our party of 7 returned today for a Sunday roast. Under the impression you could get more than one type of meat in the £2 upgrade, we ordered that. We only got the one meat on each roast which made everyone's orders wrong - we should have been informed that you can only have one meat per dish when we ordered. The mash, stuffing and peas were missing off all the dishes. Staff did rectify the missing peas, but told us they had no mash or stuffing - something we should have been told when we ordered! A couple of dishes had cold veg and the green beans were a bit underdone, although the turkey, roasties and Yorkshire puddings were some of the best I've had.
