No1 Wok in Poole

My food was not at all nice, it was overcooked, the chicken was very dry, and the rest was covered in black burnt bits. I will not be going there again, it was a total waste of money.

Came here last night with my siblings around 9:30, and it honestly felt like they didn’t want us there. The service was terrible, the staff was really rude, and instead of proper cups, they gave us water in plastic bowls, which was just odd. When we said we wanted to dine in, the guy’s reaction was so unwelcoming. The food itself was nice, but the attitude of the staff completely ruined the experience.

I very rarely have take away anymore partly because of money & sometimes because of quality but I had a chicken curry & a Singapore fried rice from here & it was amazing the best Chinese I have had for many years & right on my doorstep I would highly recommend & I will be back for sure

This is one of the best (if not THE best) Chinese takeaways in the UK. All of the dishes I've had were incredible and bursting with delicious Asian flavours. The sauces are the perfect consistency- not too thick and not too watery. The Thai curries are also amazing. There are a few tables in the restaurant, so you can eat in (if you don't mind a bit of kitchen noise and wooden cutlery). I highly recommend you try eating in the restaurant as the food comes out piping hot, fresh and crispy. Chinese food is best right off the wok so the vegetables and fried items don't become soggy. They also have a good vegetarian menu. The vegetarian chicken is the best veggie meat I've ever had. I can't comment on delivery times, but the delivery staff wait in the shop for the food to be prepared and packed. But I guess delivery times depend on how busy they are.

Wow I forgot about this place,now used this numerous times. FOOD 5* Delivery service 12 out of 10. Just tried a new meal, chicken n mushroom, best I have had since Pangs in Frome. Perfect

Amazing Chinese takeaway place. Very good food, good menu, affordable price, and very friendly staff. The chicken balls, and the sesame prawn toast were our faves. Would highly recommend to everyone looking for a good takeaway here in Poole

Absolutely awful food. no order again.

No1 Wok is our No 1 Chinese take away in Poole. In fact it is one of the best Chinese take away that we have been to in the UK. Ordering is easy by phone or online. I believe it is slightly cheaper by phone. Good can be collected (quicker) or delivered (on average for us about 45 minutes to an hour). The food is strong in flavour. If you like you good spicy, then this place is definitely for you. We have used this take away many times and each time the food has been spot on. Almost all of the dishes have been excellent. The only dish that we were disappointed with is tonight’s starter (salt and spicy tofu), it was very dry and hard. Other than that everything has been excellent. I would highly recommend the beef and satay sauce, chicken and black bean sauce and Singapore rice noodles. This is an amazing take away. Highly recommended.

A real shame as the food is lovely but they are clearly tax dodging. Always push for cash. Which I love cash but I don’t always have it and the cash point along the same row of shops charges £1.75 so I don’t wish to use it for withdrawals. Went to pay card and they won’t take under £10. So have now lost my business to the lovely Chinese down the road. The push for cash is clearly a tax dodging scheme and they should be reported

First time ordering No 1 Wok and so glad I did! The food was lovely, best Chinese I've had for ages. The sweet and sour Chicken balls were just right, not too stodgy or crispy. The chop suey was very tasty with tender chicken, BBQ sauce was on point! Everything ordered was nice and hot. The delivery time was exactly how long they said, plus the staff were nice and friendly! Top service

We ordered from no1 wok once a week for 2 years we enjoyed the food it was only Chinese near us one day our food turned up 2 hours after we had ordered stone cold and our crispy duck was pink and not cooked properly I phoned to complain and they refused to help us and actually got very disgustingly rude. The food was not even nice and customer service was absolutely appalling they lost out on custom do not order, your food will turn up cold, inedable and they will not help. Also massive tax avoidance as they only take cash… interesting considering they don’t have professional staff

I don't know if someone worked there on behalf of delivering the leaflets or not but some lad just randomly dumped a load of your leaflets outside my front garden and scarpered

Absolutely rubbish service this evening ordered my food at 5.30 was told an hour for delivery Rang several times after this time as no food had arrived Kept being told the food had left the shop so nothing they could do I said I wanted a refund was told the manager will ring me when the shop closed The food finally turns up at 8.10 stone cold wasn’t fit for purpose I have had a call at 9.10 from a member of staff not even the manager to say they could only give me 20 per cent iff my next order well I won’t be ordering again and I want my money back so now I’m waiting for a call back from the manager let’s see what happens They are always short if drivers so they should say sorry can only do collection. Not take you’re money and then make you wait nearly 3 hours to get the food This isn’t the first time this has happened but now will never use them again and the bill wasn’t cheap for 5 of us

Returned the here last week when in Poole post theatre to get my old favourites and it was awful. Couldn’t recognise any of the old faces serving so maybe changed ownership and on that experience will not return. October 2021 ( 5 stars) I have just moved to the area and tried some local Chinese take aways and this is now our preferred take away having tried it several times. Their dim sum is great which is a bonus and most of the dishes we have tried thus far are authentic Chinese and the premises are very clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. My only disappointment so far was that the Chinese curry was a bit bland for my taste but all the other dishes v good so far.

I'm megga disappointed. I have ordered before and the food is always amazing. I decided to go for Thai crispy lamb in sweet chilli and garlic sauce. The lamb was so dry and crispy it nearly broke my teeth and there was not even a hint of any sauce, never mind sweet chilli and garlic.

What a disappointment look good from the outside, placed my order over the counter when I was asked to pay I went to pay by card and lady asked if I had cash as hubbiemlooked in his wallet she was looking too, naughty! As for the food well Nasty and tastlelss bbq sauce was washed out also the chicken balls had been over cooked, Hubbies house curry was nasty too ,also it had no flavour as the curry sauce was a thick and the mixed meat wasn't edable, So the first time using this place and yes it will be the last!! just a shame as looked good from the outside Should of read other peoples reviews first !!

Great disapointment. The curry had no taste, the gravy was reconstituted from powder and water. The ingredients were simply put together with no proper cooking.

Edible but not more. The sauce of the curry was not fresh, the vegetables in the mix not fresh either but probably a frozen mix. The cashew nuts sauce in the wok did not have any taste. Not even a sauce given to dip the spring rolls. We ordered for two people they only gave one fortunate cookie. And on the top of the rest we could only pay by cash!! We were told they were changing the card machine soon so it could not be used yet when we did not have enough cash to give them so they made us pay the rest with the card machine. What a scam!!

Best food ever, full of flavour, good and hot

The food is actually good, but unfortunately it just never arrives...I have had to cancel delivery and request refunds a couple of times despite the kitchen telling me its on its way.....they are lying and it's clear they are all over the place when it comes to delivery. I decided to collect instead on one occasion but sat inside the shop for an hour along with lots of other disgruntled customers .They are clearly massively understaffed so allow at least 2 hours before you want it and ring to check at least twice and do t believe them when they say '' on its way' ! Shame I won't be using them again as I just cannot trust I will ever get the food !!

Food amazing, meal for one absolutely massive great value for money. Only criticism is I was made to feel very uncomfortable as they wanted a cash payment and I only had a card on me since covid I don't usually have cash. I felt like a naughty school girl. But totally recommend this place for food. On leaving I was told if I came back bring cash ££££!!!!!!

Absolutely pointless and rude staff. Delivery over 1 hr late and ruined our evening. They completely lied and each time we called were told it was being cooked, however, tur ed out that it had not been. Unfortunately, due to this service, will not be going back.

I ordered food there once and It was so good that I had to go back the next day. Staff were kind and friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. I might have to go a third time.

We had a takeaway from here last night within 2 hours of eating we all had bad stomach's still going on 24hrs later. Phoned them to say and was told we must have got from somewhere else baring in mind that none of us live together and had not eaten anything else that day.Guy on phone was so rude so having leftovers tested. Avoid like the plague

Delicious chicken chow mien and Singapore fried rice. Cappuccino , just come from America bring my family for holidays. Circle around this country. This is amazing Chinese restaurant in England.

We ordered chicken chow mein, 2x king prawn chow mein, a Singapore chow mein, some sweet and sour chicken balls and some mini spring rolls. Firstly the carton's were not labeled properly and my children had a big spicy 🔥 surprise, secondly the king prawns were like rubber and un-edible, thirdly the mini spring rolls and the chicken balls literally bounced, the batter was not crispy and they tasted aweful. Definitely won't be ordering from here again and most certainly would not recommend it. Very disappointing, and £35.20p thrown in to the bin.

Really great quality, this was the first time we ordered from here and we will be returning. The crispy chilli chicken, chow mein and chicken balls were all first class. So many reviews out there for places, it's hard to know where to try for the first time. The food was good here and we loved it.

Decided to give No1 wok a order this evening for my father day meal. A internet order was placed at 1740 and delivery was around 1823. Called them to find out, where the delivery was. The person, answer the very fast. However my meal was not going anywhere. I was told it would be 15 minutes. So gave them 20 minutes on top for delivery . Sadly no show. Called and again, I was told it's on the way. Cancel my order over the phone. I will not use this take away again. Looking back at the reviews, this was a common practice. Delays in times for orders

Have had Chinese from here about 6 times. Particularly good crispy duck to go with pancakes, sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style, crispy chilli beef and smoked chicken. Recommend phoning cos although there is am online booking option I've found them to be not reliable as keeping to the time you ask to collect it. If its busy they don't prioritise your online booking over walk ins so you could be waiting an hour longer than planned.

The food is great. But this is twice in a row now that we have had to wait a long time for our food after ordering for a specific time. Over an hour and a half last time, and just now 40 minutes after the stated time. Really need to sort out their ordering system.

Well where do I start, if there was a 0 star I would be putting that. This has got to be the worst place I have ever ordered from. I placed my order at 18:06 and at 21:13 I'm still waiting for my order. I tried to call them multiple times before I actually got through to them at 20:18 and was told to hold on a minute and almost 43mins, I'm still waiting for them to talk to me on the phone. I walked in to the takeaway still with them on my phone and they didn't even remember that I was still on hold. They then tolde that they hadn't even started my order Over 3hr hours later. Now I know it's new years eve and I know that it's busy, but they told me that my order would be 1hr29mins, and to be waiting over 3hrs later and for it to not even be started is ridiculous. Anyway I have now gone to Alex wok which is where I should have just gone first we as we always get it from there and they have never let us down. Just thought we would try somewhere new. This place does amazing food this is 2nd meal with them and it's absolutely hellish so worth the money the service is lovely really polite and efficient I ordered and literally had dinner on the door 10 min later!!! Literally the best Chinese food I've had in ages, hot and sour soup was off the grid. Salt and pepper prawns were done perfectly. I'm gutted it's so far from where I live, was just visiting the seaside. I wish these guys would come and teach the takeaways where I live in Abingdon how to do decent Chinese food.

Ordered just chow mein, special fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls and found 3 hairs in the chow mein. No excuse and won't be ordering again.!

Always been friendly staff. Great take away or delivery. Varied menu. Open view of preparing & cooking area. Limited parking 🅿. Two steps leading into take away, would be very difficult for wheelchair access. Having said that, I'm sure they would take your order from the door under those circumstances. Called into Wok 1 tonight for the first time.Placed our order not realising they delivered. Our polite server apologised that the chef had popped out and offered to deliver our food even though we were minutes up the road.20 minutes later our food was delivered piping hot and is by far the best Chinese meal we have had.Lovely food and great service.

I have recently started ordering from this takeaway and have found their dishes to be a welcomed change from the box standard dishes sold at other takeaways. They offer a lot of different dishes, including Chinese Ho Fun and Japanese Udon, which are two of my favourites. They also offer a wide range of set menus, including vegetarian dishes which are great as some of my family members are vegetarian. The staff are always polite and delivery is quick. Would highly recommend.

Wasn't impressed the chicken balls are £5.80 and they was disgusting I had 2 get 2 portions as they won't do card below £10 and I didn't evan mind wasting them so not worth the price

Ordered Chinese food take away last sunday and it was normally good but unfortunately this time something sharp hurt my throat and was sick containing blood. I am now having to see the doctor to make sure all is ok.

Gone downhill Have been ordering Take Away's from here, about 6 times a year, for a few years. Things have definitely changed over that time, and not for the better. Our last Take Away (a couple of week's ago) was so awful we threw the leftovers away, instead of eating them the next day. We had noticed the decline for a while, but thought it might be a blip so stuck with them - but the standard is definitely not as good and won't be using No1 WOK anymore. We usually order Chop Suey, A Curry, A Chef Special Dish, Veg, Ribs etc. The sauces were thick & stodgy with a severe lack of flavour. What a shame.

The lovely bit of food here cleanliness beyond belief and I don't remember the last time that I had crunch to my vegetables very awesomely delightful thank you number one Wok now I know where you call yourself number one

Was a regular customer , phoned one night with small order only to be told i wasnt worth their time, incredibly rude, wont be calling again ! Ordered from shop in charminster , found it was quicker and 25% cheaper , pays to shop around.

Disappointed and disgusted !!! Food reheated in the microwave and almost thrown on the table ?! joke ??? !!! The meal tasted like spoiled. Just terrible and disgusting. Instead of the lamb we ordered, we received only the leftovers of the skins and greasy garbage. I informed the service that something is wrong with the food and that it tastes terrible it was tried to convince me that it is such a meat !!! Seriously?! joke ?? !! It was hideous !! The ribs for the starter were the same bones and cartilage. I'm very disappointed. I do not recommend it and I will definitely eat nothing more in this place. Cooks should be ashamed for what they give to customers!!!

This is our go-to Chinese. One of the few that does Udon noodles just the way my daughter likes them. Salt and Pepper shredded beef, duck rolls and Kung Po chicken are what we order most and they are delicious! Always a friendly bunch in there and greeted with recognition even after months. Prices are about average, but they are consistent in taste which I find most important. Always tastes fresh. Yum!

Do not order online - they happily took my Paypal payment for my order, but after an hour, phoned to find out how long it would be, they said they had received payment but hadn't processed food order!! Not a single apology and they clearly did have the food order as they read it out to me. Over an hour and a half later, food finally arrived and wasn't good! Just an apology would have helped!!

Food was an hour and a half late due to an incompetent driver turning up late for his shift. By the time the food had arrived we had cancelled our order and after explaining to the driver he swore at me ( i'm only just 17 ) and told me he was busy. It delayed my entire family from completing their plans for the night. NEVER AGAIN.

Food always good. Service excellent. Can see everything prepared fresh. Sometimes a wait but only because so popular. Well recommended.
