Red Deer in Mid Devon

Came here on Sunday 2nd February at 12pm for my son's 16th birthday. The server, don't know the girls name, was superb. In fact all staff were happy and superb! The food was lovely, we had a lovely time. Thankyou guys!

Excellent quality pub grub at good prices; manager great with his customer service, may need to pass this onto his staff though!? Not sure if the toilet cleaner didn't turn up for week today but they're very poor! Despite these minor points, I'd recommend for value for money pub grub!

Was expecting a wetherspoons style but was very pleasantly surprised to have my poor expectations blown away. The food was good. All four of us enjoyed our selection. The chilli was nicely hot & well presented. The sausage & mash was substantial. The salad didn't have enough rice or quinoa but was good with the BBQ cauliflower. I spoke to the manager,Yousef, after the meal & he was really helpful. He said, any shortcomings he would have happily remedied had we said. He is a lovely man who genuinely cared about making us feel happy. He made it feel like a local pub. The service was fast & friendly. Good food at a good price with a good atmosphere. Thanks again Yousef. Hopefully see you again.

Great spot for a last minute evening meal. Staff so friendly and accommodating. Great food at a great price. Look out for the offers to get even more value. Live music on some dates too.

I went for a treat for my son who just learnt to swim. The staff were extremely friendly and the manager kindly went to sort out Rocky Road Sunda personally. This is the kind of experience I regularly find here. All the staff go up and beyond what you would expect.

I just wanted to give a massive thank you to the staff working on 1st October. My car broke down at Tesco and they were kind enough to help us out with takeaway food which they don’t usually do while we wait and gave my partner a free drink. We truly appreicate it so much. We have come before and it is always great service and amazing food!

This pub was great for a large family get together, catering from very young to old. The food was fantastic, not one criticism amongst the family. Mine was gammon, veg and chunky chips and was as good as any I've ever had. My wife had vegetarian and loved it. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. In the interest of balance, if I was forced to make any suggestions it would be to plant something pretty up the rear garden fence to help the outlook from inside. I'm guessing you've tried to get rid of the Covid one-way signs painted on the entrance path?!! Thanks again to the team and a big thanks to the cooks - please make sure that my comment is handed on to them.

Really good meal, staff were fantastic even though the pub was so busy, looks like we were not the only ones with 30% off vouchers. Food was a little slower than usual but at that price who could complain? Great night!

It was all down to the salad; then usual mixed leaves, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onion plus red pepper quinoa, kale, brown rice and soya beans…….we got the mixed leaves, tomatoes, cucumber and red onions but not a glimpse of anything else which was very disappointing and poor value for money.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, tables clean. Sausages and mash was delicious, but peas left a little to be desired. My husband didn’t want barbecue sauce on his hunters chicken, which they obliged and he cleared his plate.they don’t carry oat milk, but luckily we take our own ( just incase) BUT Ladies toilets let them down big time. Toilet seat was all over the place, somebody could have a nasty accident, soap dispenser was dirty and the air extractor was about the dirtiest I’ve come across. If it hadn’t been for that they would have had five stars

Decided to treat the family to the breakfast. Usual great food, so happy they now offer breakfast. Wish the breakfast menu was a bit bigger though, otherwise can't fault it.

Good music. Good atmosphere and great music. Particularly enjoyed the jazz night. Great to have a venue supporting live music.

5 First class well run pub by Graham as an ex publican now retired after 20 years in the same pub. Service was excellent food very good value for money. Staff very clean and tidy supporting live music. Pub itself very clean and tidy All in all a first class opperation

Average in every way. Polite and helpful bar staff. Food took an age and was standard pub chain fare, albeit with some unusual items on the menu. Had to clear our table before we started. Our plates weren't removed before we left, an hour after finishing our food. Little atmosphere and located in a Tesco car park for even less character.

What a lovely restaurant for a Mothers day lunch.Treated like royalty by all staff. Food is really tasty and portions are good sizes. A big hand goes to megan welcoming customers and checking their bookings. Also to Youssef who was not only very helpful but had a good humour as well. Cannot wait to return.

My husband and I took his parents for a meal, taking advantage of the 30% off mains offer. My in-laws commented on how comfortably warm the restaurant was, even though we were seated next to a large window. All of our meals arrived promptly and were nicely presented and hot. Everyone enjoyed their meal and said they would definitely be returning in the near future. The staff were also polite and efficient. An all round great experience.

A most delicious roast turkey meal with trimmings for lunch today. Excellent portions and quality food. Opted for the lemon tart for pud which was also moreish too. I only hope I manage to cook a tasty meal like this on Christmas Day! Well done to the chefs in the kitchen and the whole staff team at The Red Deer. We received such a wonderful welcome and nothing was too much trouble. This has been our third visit to the establishment. Highly recommend with a large car park outside.

We had a table booked for 7 adults & 5 children for a meal after a family Christmas event. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble, they were polite, happy & very helpful. Yes we had to wait a while for each course of our meal but that was due to it being so close to Christmas & it being so busy. But the food made the wait worth while, it was really well cooked, well presented & a good plate full too, even the children's meals were very generous portions. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Roast Beef meal very disappointing. Frozen Roast Potatoes, small portions, cold plates and have to pay for extras like Pigs in blankets etc. Upholstery needs cleaning/ updating. Most staff were pleasant.

Hello my name is Orson and I am 9 years old. My sister and I write food reviews. I am reviewing the children’s BBQ chicken burger; it was delicious and the bbq sauce gave a punch which made it even more yummy. I really like how it has a crunchy outside on the chicken and the inside was easy to chew. To make it better you should maybe put better games out for children over 5 years old. I liked how the chips had salt and pepper on , it made them different from normal chips.

The steak was so tough you couldn’t cut it with a steak knife , a replacement cheaper cut was provided as the lady said they were all the same ! This was tough and unpleasant the cowboy burger was poorly reheated and looked like a childs meal . Compared to Wetherspoons it was lacking and compared to Burger King it was a poor meal . Would not return , in this current climate customer service was poor and the food quality was poor .

My husband Chris and I came in for Sunday lunch yesterday - absolutely marvellous! We were served by Beau? I think that was his name, who was very friendly and helpful, food was amazing, loved the stuffing! No where else I go for Sunday lunch!

Most of the staff were polite and friendly except one on the bar with blonde hair. A lot of staff just stood around. Food was fine, just basic pub food. A few of our steaks were over cooked but still edible. The indoor and outdoor play areas are a bonus!

Been here a couple of times recently the pub is really nice and the food is very good pub food with a great menu. I have to say though after meeting him on a couple of occasions the manager here really does make this place as he just cannot do enough for you and makes you feel very welcome.

Very nice pub nice and clean , we been greeted by a gentleman on the way in with a nice honest smile ( we think he was the manager) asking us how's our day and take a seat anywhere we want , he made us feel very welcome , we ordered our food and drinks while we waiting,I was watching the manager he was absolutely fantastic, while he was serving he was scanning the room and going round making sure everyone is ok. A couple came to the bar and I think they spoke polish and he was interacting with them , than I saw him using sign language to a person behind the bar, it was so nice to see . We had a lasagna and chips and fish and chips it was absolutely fantastic, the fish was huge and meety and the lasagna was very delicious, we had afters jam sponge and rocky Sunday and they were devine , if I could give 10 stars I would .
