Worst Chinese takeaway in Nottingham. The food tastes cheap and nasty. Service is also poor. I’d recommend going elsewhere.

We ordered sweet n sour chicken - not sure what meat it was, but it certainly tasted nothing like chicken !!! Will not be ordering from here again - it was rank !!!!

Camping at the Holme Pierrepont. Thought to grab a menu and looked a good selection of food however when we got it aweful honestly. 3/4 thrown away from all 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids. Special fried rice Chicken curry and fried rice Meal 1 The only thing that was even just basically OK was the chow main. Food was late to collect by 15 mins and the place itself looked like it would fail any health inspection. Not normally a grumbler but this was and example of how not to do a Chinese takeaway.

Food was not up to standard, me and my partner could not even eat any if the food. It was so dry and tasteless and had a very strange smell to it very disappointed 😞 we asked for a refund and they made it an issue and didn't get anything back will not be ordering from here again! POOR

I'm not usually a fan of Chinese food, but we had a money off voucher, so gave it a go. Best Chinese food I've ever had, I think. We collected, and the food took quite a while, but we were given extra spring rolls as recompense. The people are really lovely, and the mountainous portions of food absolutely delicious. Recommended

Fried rice taste like it its been warm up the night before. Chips was dry and old. All in all Was no taste. Worse Chinese ever ! Didnt want give a refund. Wanted us to buy again and get 25% off . Waste of £30 .

Service etc very good and lovely people in the shop. Fast production too. But unfortunately the food had no flavour. I had sweet and sour and although the colour and texture were right, it had absolutely no flavour. Strange. That’s the sole reason for my low review. I’ll prob try again on the offchance there was a missed ingredient but it doesn’t make me want to rush back

Use to come here all the time when i was at university the food was good then, have recently had a takeaway here and it was low standard after waiting and hour and 10 minutes after ordering we went home and the food was cold apart from the curry sauce and one of my items were missing i had to come back and get it and they made us a new batch of salt and pepper chips, and the missing item.

Have now been waiting for over 90 minutes for order. Really angry, that's my review.

Absolute vile!!! I literally threw up half way through my meal after seeing a white gunk seeping through the filo which was the end to my dinner. Before seeing that I was chewing the salt and pepper chicken for ages and couldn't swallow so had to spit it out. Never ordering from here again. Save yourself from food poisoning which I'm sure I'm going to be getting and make a sandwich. Needs shutting down

Best Chinese in the area, not greasy at all, food is genuinely superb

The food is delicious, it is the best chinese takeaway I have ever come across. The lady behind the counter is friendly and polite.

The food was hot and tasty . The fried rice was very nice with the chilli oil .Good portion . The soup was hot . Friendly staff. Definitely recommended .

Very disappointed. Ordered our food @6.20pm to be told delivery up to 1 hour & 10 minuits. We waited 1 hour & 50 minutes. Had to call to find out how long it would be to be told driver is on his way. When we finally did receive it, it was cold. Food would have been lovely if it was not cold.

One of the best around for takeout in my opinion. Generous portions, tasty food, and a very reasonable price. Someone rated this place badly in a review below, complaining about kids toys being everywhere. Yes there’s kids toys everywhere, and sometimes the child is playing in the front of the shop too. I assume this is a family run business doing their best to bring up a child while running a take away. Good for them too! What a stupid thing to complain about. What matters is the food and the service - and I can’t fault either.

Ordered salt and pepper king prawn starter, chicken satay main and both were absolutely delicious. I'm only in Nottingham for work for a day or 2 but I hope I'll be back. Lovely food and friendly service.

So lovely. I’ve just moved to the UK from Hong Kong (but was a foreigner there) and had been craving fried noodles all week, the vegetable chow mien (in photo) was exactly what I wanted! Nice to see a variety of vegetables mixed in too and portion sizes are satisfying and not excessive. The egg fried rice was tasty too. The green pepper and chicken in black bean sauce tastes great initially but was too sweet, hard to eat lot. The vegetables in oyster sauce had a nice subtle flavour and was filling. They also kindly surprised us with some free spring rolls and prawn crackers! And to make it even better we paid just £20 for the chow mien, black bean sauce chicken, oyster sauce vegetables, plain rice and egg fried rice. We got the food in person so can’t comment on delivery.

Shocking. Firstly the waiting area resembled a child's nursery. Toy car,oven,toy tool bench,3 adult bikes and a big box of Lego. Loads of white flies hovering above the counter and around the lights. Cobwebs dangling from the ceiling. I had a combination curry. I don't think they remembered to put any spice in the the curry. It was just a tasteless sauce. The chips were old,rock hard and not very warm. Absolutely horrible experience. The place has always been a dump but the food is normally very nice. Sorry, not on this occasion!

This was disgusting service. We ordered food and it tasted like it had been standing for days! We rang up and got told someone would collect it then he hung up! We rang back the manager told us we have to bring it back for a refund because she sent the driver home but none of us drive! Then she hung up! It was disgusting food, disgusting customer service and I will never be ordering again.

They've stole my money 🤷🤷 So we ordered our food, the driver came we paid in cash I opened my order to find two hairs in the dinner I rang them, they apologized and said the driver would clect the food and give me a full refund, he never came they have blocked mine and my partner's numbers, I asked my sister in law to ring and they've blocked her number and her partner's 🤷🤷 I'd avoid at all costs! Hygiene standards obviously aren't very high and they've literally stole my money 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

If there was a zero star option that would be too high. Awful awful customer service. 3 Hours we have just waited for food advised it would be hour n half. They then went on to slag off my village for causing delay absolutely shocking. Don't use.

I've always been happy with my food, the service and delivery over the years. Though that has changed the past few orders, it seems the portions have gotten smaller and less sauce with the curry. Compared to how the portions uses to be with loads of sauce. But tonight after a two hour and fifteen minutes waited when I was told seventy minutes, phoned a couple of times to find out, told the driver would be with me in the next ten minutes, which they weren't. Sadly, with tonight's, Red Cap has lost a loyal customer of ten plus years.

The family that own this place are really lovely and thoughtful! The food is really good and feels lighter to eat than many other places. Highly recommended

Really impressed with the quality of the food, the size of the portions and the care taken with the gluten free menu items. Proper gluten free Chinese takeaway food is such a treat. Especially gluten free sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style

Absolute gunge. The worst Chinese takeaway around. A one-way ticket to the toilet. I can't even call this slop 'food' - more like leftovers and waste. I wouldn't feed it to pigs. As for the staff, they were most unfriendly and rude. I've used the place several times and on each occasion the quality of food became worse.

We ordered food on NYE and was told there would be a wait time of 1.5-2 hours. 3.5 hours later and we still haven't received our order. I have attempted to call the take away numerous times to check our order and to finally cancel as we have had to order from elsewhere. I appreciate that the take away may be busy but this is terrible customer service.

watch out for the mushroom egg fried rice i got peas in the one i ordered ,does not say anywhere on the menu about peas in it, on order staff member wasn't really hering what i was asking for kept adding more money to my order, food is ok but as said watch out for added items in what you order.

Went to order and collect food but had to wait 45-50 mins I thought this was quite a long wait to be waiting outside, food was ready in 35 mins so not too bad and food was nice

Had takeaway last night collection, had to wait 45 minutes, was given 2 cans of pop free for long wait, food was terrible, greasy overcooked, the soup was so thick could stand a spoon in it. We went on recommendation will not be going back.

I cannot recall when I last had a takeaway meal as good as this. The food I ordered at Red Cap West Bridgeford was excellent . The guy who served was very friendly and welcoming. Whenever I am in Nottingham this place will be my first choice takeaway. Well done Red Cap.

Very friendly staff both inside the premises and on telephone orders. The food is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced with a superb selection of dishes available . Delivered in the time frame provided during order placing.

Used this takeaway for quite a few years but was appalled at the terrible drop in quality. Food was lack lustre, even the sweet and sour sauce was dull. I may give them another chance, hoping this was just a one off.

Have to say I'm very disappointed. Not sure if it's changed hands or not but this use to be my favourite Chinese. Salt and pepper ribs that were just mainly fat and garlic. Got the red 1 bowl deal aswell. Over cooked rice and just bland no flavour sweet and sour chicken and beef and mushrooms. There was that much garlic in all three dishes that's all I could taste. Wasn't worth the money at all. Will not be back.

Have ordered from here before and have generally been satisfied, but this meal was a bit of a let down.The combination curry was flavourless to the point of having no curry taste whatsoever.The house special chow mein didn't have any prawns although the menu said otherwise.The rest of the meal was as expected ,but when a meal says the flavour is curry or the ingredients include prawns is it too much to expect the meal to be true to the menu.Disapointed to the extent of probably not ordering from them again.

Friday evening not a good time very busy this shows a lot of people must like Red Cap

Went by the reviews and choose here instead of usual. Not happy. Firstly I was told my take away would be ready in 15 minutes but when I arrived on time they had not started it so waited 10 minutes in the cold waiting area. We ordered king po chicken which was very bland instead of hot. Chicken sweet and sour balls and the king prawn chow mein were greasy. Only nice thing were the complimentary crackers and spring rolls.

Ordered chicken satay (main) and I instantly knew it wasn't right. It looked totally different (not the same ingredients or colour of sauce) and smelt like black bean sauce. I tried eating it and the chicken was so soft, i'm not even convinced it was chicken to be honest. Couldn't eat it and im HUNGRY!!!

The Mixed Pin Poon Platter was horrible and very greasy, absolutely disgusting. I could have used the Thai Shrimp soup for wallpaper paste. The Chow Mein Special and the rest was binned. The best bit of the meal - the free prawn crackers! I would like to score no stars!!! Google please add this feature.

Was okay,food didn’t taste that fresh though

Amazing food tasted great and the portions are very big and the delivery was on time as stated ,the staff we spoke to were very pleasant and polite. In fact I would go as far to say this is one of the best chinese takeaway food restaurant I have had delivered or collected. It is just a pity we are not in the area more often, def worth a visit 1st class.

Have been ordering from red cap for years and have never been let down. The food is excellent and always fresh.

Was really impressed by the food from Red Cap. Service was friendly and they customised the spice of a dish which was good. Food cooked quickly and it was all lovely. Seems a lot more tasty than other Chinese food I've had, and they advertise no MSG which is good. I would usually eat a whole fried rice and main dish from a Takeaway, but struggled to finish this and had nearly a full tub of food left afterwards. Definitely recommended, and this will be my new go to Chinese Takeaway!

If I could I'd give 0 stars to this place. Me and my brother ordered some food 5 days ago from this take away and we both had the worst food poisoning in our lives. I still can't eat and I still haven't recovered properly. Last time we ordered anything from there.
