Friendly team delivering tasty, freshly prepared food. Sticky table.& the place shows some wear since we last visited. Would eat there again but in a place where every shop has a randomly hidden cafe out back, this place has serious competition.

A absolutely fantastic place to eat. Great staff and of course food. Thoroughly recommend the beef and cheese baguette.

We ordered a family sized quiche from Real Meals on our holiday at Saltburn in June 2024. It was cheese, tomato, onion and bacon quiche and tasted absolutely delicious. £18 for over 12 generous slices, the ingredients were of the best quality and the family thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't waste your money on generic supermarket food, get yourselves down to Real Meals for a gastronomic delight!

What a lovely place for food. The lunch menu was excellent and a wide choice of food was offered. The staff were very welcoming and offered advice on options. The deli was very well stocked and offered an extensive range of cheeses and meats. Well worth a visit

What a lovely place! Only popped in for coffee and cake but wish we’d had chance to eat here. Great staff , very friendly and helpful. Drinks were great, and the vegan carrot cake and cannoli superb. Sandwiches and meals on nearby tables looked fantastic, and not stupidly overpriced either. Lovely ambience here, very tranquil and friendly. We’ll return next time we’re in Saltburn to sample a proper lunch. A gem of a cafe/deli.

Managed to get a table even though they were very busy. My wife had the soup, I had the quiche and salad and we both had flat white coffees. Everything was delicious. The staff were all great .

If you’re not a visitor to Saltburn, i’m sure you are already aware of this cafe/ deli/ food emporium. But we were, so it was a pleasure to find it. I had a bacon baguette and my husband had smoked Wensleydale and salad baguette. I love crispy bacon and it was perfect for me. Meanwhile, the cheese baguette vanished pretty quickly. Peppermint tea for 2. Good, efficient and cheerful service. Cosy surroundings on a chilly winter’s day. Obviously a favourite with local people. Win- win all round. Thanks

Ideal spot for a quick lunch. I had the daily special of frittata with mixed salad and coffee. Turned out to be an expensive lunch as we couldn’t resist buying deli stuff to take home

We were looking for somewhere to eat and were recommended to this restaurant by a local, saying "It's the best place for food". It certainly was a good meal that we had here and I would definitely consider coming back here the next time I am in the area. Look for the food on the specials board as they have lots of interesting dishes on it. I had a chowder which I really enjoyed.

What a little gem this place is. This is a real Deli type place and they serve breakfasts and lunches too. Had breakfast here on two mornings. Staff very accommodating and happy to "switch-out" in what we chose from the menu. They have lots of interesting food items from around the world stacked on the shelves all around the place and the deli counter has lots of different cheeses, meats and other savoury delicacies to tempt you. There's even Sicilian Lemon Cake and lots of savoury choices as well. We will definitely call in again the next time we visit Saltburn.

Reals meals breakfast by far the Best in saltburn, and the staff were brilliant ,10 out 10 Well done .

We were in Saltburn for the day and liked the look of this place for lunch. A waitress with glasses found us a table and we were just sitting down when we were approached by a young waitress with a ponytail. She said “do you know what you want” we quickly chose off the specials board and she just stood there. We thought she was very rude but decided to stay. She brought a tray with the teacups and pot of tea still no hello or smile it was just plonked on the edge of the table as she walked away. Our meals arrived in the same fashion. We asked the young man who was behind the deli counter if we could have two fruit scone to eat in. He brought them to our table with a lovely smile and asked if we’d enjoyed our main course. I went to pay at the deli counter and the lady with the glasses served us again with a smile. The food was lovely and we would have given it five stars but knocked one off because of the service from the young girl. She needs a lesson in customer service and until then should not be at the front serving customers. We noticed she was like this to other customers I think she’s in the wrong job. Would we go again, yes if she wasn’t in that day if she was we would go somewhere else.

First time in Saltburn by the Sea very quaint main street. Found this fabulous deli with a great variety of cheese and savoury treats which was also a cafe so we had some lunch. Nice choice on the menu found on the top of the counter where we also ordered. Choice of seating both inside and out under the shop canopy. Service was prompt and staff friendly and chatty. Enjoyed it here and will certainly return when next in the area.

Food was ok, when it came, but a long wait to get a menu and to get served. Drinks were forgotten, didn’t arrive until well after the food. Service was friendly but haphazard. They needed another member of staff as it was quite busy. Given the choice of places in Saltburn we probably wouldn’t revisit.A shame as we have come occasionally for years.

First visit to Real Meals cafe and deli in Saltburn. Intended having a scone and a coffee but the specials board distracted us! We had the haddock and crab chowder which was absolutely delicious, followed by a coffee and cake. Lorna and the team were so friendly and we noted that they all seemed to take great pride in offering high quality food and excellent customer service. We will definitely return when we next visit Saltburn.

Absolutely loved our first visit here. Wonderful, fresh soups & light as air scones, perfectly cooked & presented by very helpful & friendly staff. Deli is small but packed with lovely stuff. We'll be back. 😀💖

First time in this cafe and menu looked impressive. My sister ordered the crab chowder and I had the cheese and onion quiche which I asked for on it's own as didn't want any salad with it. The quiche was okay, nothing special but the chowder was awful. It was just a bowl filled mainly with corn and lumps of potato with a watery crab tasting soup but no white meat in it. I'm surprised my sister managed to eat any of it as I tried one spoonful and that was enough. With one coffee and one tea the bill was well over £21! Obviously nothing was knocked off for not having the salad but over £8 for the quiche even with it was extortionate. My sister needed the Andrews liver salts when she got home so needless to say will not be visiting again. A pity I didn't read some of the reviews on here before we went. !

After a short trip to Saltburn , popped in here for coffee before heading home. So glad we did! The deli is gorgeous & the staff very friendly. Coffee & chai tea not bad either! Definitely recommend.

An early lunch on Monday, we had two very good crab salad baguettes. Good fresh bread and other ingredients. It was busy so we had to wait a little while, but more than worth it. I think they ran out of a few ingredients later on but not surprising at the moment especially as the place was busy and understandably popular.

Called in the afternoon while on a day trip. Everything made on the premises. We bought two quiches to have the following day at home. My bacon & egg quiche was full of flavor & the crust thin & crisp. The best tasting quiche I have had. Pity we live so far away.

Very disappointed we both ordered a full English breakfast came and my husband had ordered black pudding when it came there was no pudding a young man came back with the black pudding on a plate and swiftly placed it on my husbands plate with his own hand and left I couldn’t believe what I was seeing after that we couldn’t finish our meal if the staff do that in front of the customer god knows what’s happening in the kitchen

I have previously used real meals on a regular basis as a celiac and always had great food and great service I visited today leaving and vowing never to return. Going from from educated helpfull staff and having specific gluten free dishes to clueless and unable to serve a simple meat salad to my friend and being offered as a celiac options that didn't total to anything like a meal on a plate

We called into Real Meals for a quick lunch. The service was prompt and friendly and the sandwich choice was excellent. The produce was so fresh and everything was so reasonably priced. We will definitely return!

Very disappointed!!! Ordered a Bacon and Brie Baguette, when it arrived it was a sandwich made up of 3 slices of very small, thin bread. I complained to the waitress who went to check in the kitchen, came back and said they had run out of baguettes, no apology. Very expensive small sandwich at £6.95. My partner and I both had a latte which were lukewarm at best. Unfortunately we’re too British, we should have sent it all back and asked for a refund. We’ll choose somewhere else next time we’re in Saltburn.

Stopped by for some lunch, great little deli with tables outside too. I had really nice feta and pepper tart, with some great fresh and tasty salads, OH had a beef baguette, which he enjoyed. Lovely coffee, cakes looked nice too, maybe next time!

Visited for morning coffee, not too busy. Had to clear and wipe down table ourselves. No offer to do so from staff. Ordered 2 coffees, one decaf. We were told that decaf was available as per menu, but they would have to get some!! Waited 25 mins for 2 coffees, while other customers were been served with meals, snacks and drinks. After 20mins, waitress came out to tell us our coffees would be along shotly. No explanation given why there was such a long wait. I suspect that the decaf had been bought from supermarket very close by. Not a good experience, will not repeat visit.

First visit. Lovely atmosphere. Food was beautiful. Really tasty. My husband had the hot chilli beef baguette. The beef was tender and melted in the mouth. I had the Mediterranean baguette, pesto, goats cheese and salad leaves. A definate taste explosion. Drinks were fresh and lovey and hot. I'm sure they tasted better due to the singing barista. We will certainly visit again. Theres lots of lovely foods to try. Thank you.

A great deli, but plenty of outdoor seating too. Great selection of cheeses, quiches and sandwiches as well as hot and cold drinks.We sat inside to get out of the full sun. Parents had a meat sandwich and they made me a vegan sarnie (not on the menu). They also had some yummy cakes to suit all dietary requirements.We were served by a young lady with glasses on (I wish we knew her name!). She was efficient and very friendly.

Came for breakfast ordered two small breakfasts and two coffees. Breakfast came 15mins for £6.95 it couldn't get more basic. No serviettes no condiments. Asked for coffees four times eventually came after meal. Had to be returned as like water. Staff pleasant but everything else well below par.

Came here for breakfast on the 1st morning of our holiday and sat outsideGood coffee with bacon and sausage roll each.Hoever this was spoilt by the fact that it took 35 minutes for our food to arrive.We also visited 5 days later,and tried to order coffee again sitting outside. After 10 minutes we left without anyone coming to take our order.It should be noted that arrangements concerning covid were to a good standard including track and trace.

Called in for coffee and a croissant. Takeaway only at the moment but there is seating outside on the pavement. The flat white was good and the croissant tasty. Maybe slightly on the expensive side.

We visited and found the menu with mostly breakfast dishes, luckily, before we left we saw the specials board. The whole thing was a bit over bearing and I struggled to find a meal I knew I would like. I decided, reluctantly, to have the Blackpudding, spicy chorizo and poached egg salad... what a fantastic dish, so unexpected full of interesting flavours, textures and seasoning loved it my partner had fried fig salad... again this was exciting and very well put together. We returned three times and the breakfast, meat and Veggie options were highest quality produce. PS coffee is outstanding scones are first class with amazing raspberry jam, so sweet and sour!

Dropped in for a Latte and a cuppa after a walk. Being popular and small it can sometimes be tricky to get a seat. The deli counter is excellent, try before you buy cheese. Great selection.

Not only is this a great cafe but it has an excellent deli as part of it with some great food choices, including tasty local cheeses and cake. The coffee is strong and tasty and the sandwich I had was lovely and garnished well. The staff are attentive and good to talk to and the place was buzzing when I attended. Highly recommended.

A good range of lighter meals made on the premises using ethically sourced ingredients, most of which are also available to buy at the counter. Good coffee as well. Ramp available for wheelchair access.

My husband and I were visiting Saltburn yesterday and decided to try this place for a cuppa and a bite to eat. My husband had the cheese and onion mini quiche and a coffee. Besides his usual morning cereal, this was the only other thing he had eaten that day. On the drive home to Middlesbrough he started to get terrible stomach cramps. As soon as he got home he ran to the toilet and was violently sick. He spent the rest of the afternoon vomiting or retching and all he could taste was rotten cheese and onion. I am trying to contact the cafe to warn them about their quiche because something is very, very wrong.

Had lunch here earlier this week, the food is excellent with a wide choice menu and daily specials, the stuffed mushroom dish was full of flavour and didn’t require any extra condiments, being a pepper junky was surprised I didn’t need to add any. Loved the little sautéed potatoes that went with the dish which was also very filling.Also bought a couple of homemade tartlets and gluten free lemon cake slices for later and they were equally superb.Staff very helpful too and there are a few tables outside, which was nice as the weather was warm and sunny this week

Stumbled across Real Meals when wondering around Saltburn. Lovely place, food is delicious with a great selection. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly and great produce available to buy. Highly recommended if visiting the local area. We would definitely return.

the vegan breakfast is fantastic. it was served hot. plate was warm. the bread was so so fresh. made the breakfast so much more enjoyable to mop up the plate when finished. the staff are super. take time to listen to you. and tell you what could be nice to eat if you are unsure. 3 scones bought to take home on a long journey home. they did not make it home as we ate in the car when stuck on the motorway. well done to every one we will so return. never seen a place so clean and was able to enjoy our breakfast even more because of the fantastic cleaning level.

We called here for morning coffee on our way to the seaside. Everything looked clean, tidy and a good selection of deli foods to eat in or take away. The service was good and coffee excellent so we decided to go back there for lunch.

Food good. Went in at 14.15. They close at 15.00 on Sundays. They were packing up around us. People were being turned away.

This place looked very appealing from the outside. The staff were friendly... It's just a shame about the food! First my friend ordered cream with her coffee and I watched as the waitress made it with powder. It came with lumps! We ordered salad and it came with no accompaniments just a mound of greenery with three small rolls of meat on the top. There was a small amount of dressing but not enough to dress the bag of salad dropped on each plate! The meat was dry and the whole thing was just not worth the £9 they charged for it! We won't be going back!

We were sat right outside the kitchen. Literally the table overlapped the entrance to the kitchen, which tells me they try to squeeze too many tables in. Service was good and quick, food was average, and drinks nof the best. Odd smell in the place, unsure if its a result of all the deli meat on display or something else

I visited with my fiancé for breakfast as we were walking through Saltburn one morning and it looked pleasant.

Reals meals serves excellent food at very reasonable prices, They have a limited specials board that is always interesting and very very tasty. Staff are friendly and attentive. The Deli is stocked full of goodies

We had not booked but came on a recommendation and although this place was packed, we got a table after a few minutes wait for a (deliberately) small late lunch. Friendly staff and service, and the café is also a decent looking delicatessen. Interesting and tasty menu choices, reasonably priced, with fresh and cooked quickly to order where appropriate. Range of soft drinks (only) was good too. On a busy street near the station and shops, and only a short distance from the sea front. A great stop-off point on our sunny day by tge seaside.

Real Meals in Saltburn is a delicatessen cum restaurant. It is very nicely decorated and furnished and has a cosy style and ambience. As a deli it has a decent range of processed foods such as pates in jars, chutneys, sauces etc as well as the expected spices etc. From the chiller they also have some very good looking cold meats and pies as well as a fine selection of cheeses.

Popped by with mum for lunch and had stuffed mushrooms and salad.

Impressed with our visit yesterday..we had the smoked Wensleydale and bacon baguette which was subtle but tasty as well as a lovely al dente carbonara which was pleasingly not the over creamy versions you often get. The flowering green tea was very good also...and the deli selection was also good... recommend.

We have been a number of times for breakfast and lunch, and each time we are warmly welcomed, and eaten delicious food. From the coffee or tea, to the hot appetising food on the numerous plates we have enjoyed, it has always been a pleasure. The specials and regular menu are imaginative and beautifully prepared. It is one of the jewels in the crown that is Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

Visited today with my partner, she and I ordered a salad each. When they arrived it looked fine, a normal sized plate, lettuce, onion, and feta & olives for my partner, ham for myself. Nothing untoward apart from the portion was marginally bigger than a side salad.

My wife and I went here for breakfast one Saturday morning and some of it was ok but other aspects of the visit were quite poor.

Called in for lunch during our trip to the area. After the beach walk from Marske we were ready for hot sandwiches. I went for the bocadillo which included chorizo and peppers while my other half went for the chilli beef and onion. We were both more than happy with our selection. Fine cup of tea too along with excellent service. Varied menu. Deli items available for purchase too. Will call again if in Saltburn.

A great find in the town centre, away from the crowds by the sea. A good choice of dishes for veggies, nice to have something a bit different from the norm. Relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff. Good choice of take away deli items too.

Went for lunch with my wife & son. The menu is varied with a sandwich choice on a variety of breads. The sandwiches were excellent - Yorkshire Ham, Smoked Salmon. Coffee (flat white & Latte) were both excellent as was the Yorkshire Tea. Staff are friendly & service is quick & efficient.

On a very windy day we stepped into this lovely shop and restaurant. We had the two soups of the day, very tasty without being too spicy, just right. We then ordered a ploughman, a salad and a sandwich (there were three of us ). All simple but tasty food. Cheerful and friendly service. Recommended.

Cold day but a friendly welcome. Good choice of specials and sandwiches. Good selection of cheeses and cold meats and even fresh crab and haggis. The atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious. Glad we went. The spring greens soup was warm , filling and tasty.

Went in early morning, when they had just opened for breakfast. Real meal is aptly named. Delicious thick back smoked bacon. We did ask for smoked. Everything was freshly made and delicious looks like a lot of locally sourced products.

Lovely English breakfast. Big thick bacon and fresh oozy eggs, and farmhouse style bread that was clearly “just made” .

Very disappointed to see that a member of staff handled Bacon with no gloves on took payment for food and then went back to cutting mould of the cheese on the counter. I certainly will not be returning.

Arrived in Real Meals for a coffee and snack.Sat at table and then went to counter to order.2 members of staff putting Christmas lights up in window, They made no effort to come and serve me .My husband went to the toilet and they still didn.t come to help. There was only I table occupied and staff were working in the kitchen .I put my coat on and made to leave .I then was asked by the girl if I wanted to order,T he charcucturie we had was lovely but I am concerned that the lad in the kitchen prepared and served this before our drinks came to the table. The girl then reappeared with 2 Amaretto biscuits she has missed from the coffees .It isn't a place I would visit again, Even a hello as we walked in wouldn't have gone amiss.

One of the best places to grab lunch in Saltburn, always an interesting specials board and the staff are great. The waiting can be a bit of a drag in busy periods but it's well worth it.

Unfortunately didn't take a picture. Because it was fantastic super delicious scrumptious breakfast. Real sausages,black pudding,cherry tomatoes, bacon, eggs mushrooms fried potatoe and toast. All cook to perfection!! Might of missed something. 😋😋😋😋😎 Thanks Real Meals I really needed that😎😎

Bread and cheese sounds like a simple lunch but not here! Slices of lovely fresh baguette and a very generous wedge of your choice of cheese from excellent selection in the deli counter served with chutney and butter was much more than a light snack. Delicious. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Have been many times and never disappointed. Favourites are sharing platters and the baked Camembert. Coffee very good too.

I love this place. The food is so good and such a great variety of specials each day. I have NEVER had a bad meal, snack or breakfast here and the home made soups are to die for.

There is a wide range of home cooking which is not available in the average cafe. The specials on the menu make it always interesting as it is unlikely that you will have tried them before. The savoury pastries are delicious. As well as the excellent cafe, all sorts of food, often local is sold which is not sold in your average supermarket.

Went this morning after reading the trip advisor reviews and have to say breakfast was excellent. Full English was lovely and others in the party who had breakfast buns said they were delicious. This could definitely become a regular visit on a Sunday morning

Popped in here today for a nice hot drink on a cold damp day - had hot chocolate, pot of tea and a toasted tea cake each. Good value for money, very friendly staff and customers and good hot food. We’ve been here before many times, probably our favourite cafe in Saltburn.

We live in Darlington and Saltburn is our favourite coastal place. Set off early today and went looking for breakfast. Stumbled on Real Meals. What a find!! Excellent sausage sandwiches and tea served in a real china cup!! After a chat about the pies in the freezer we returned later and bought four frozen meat pies to enjoy at home.

I have put in this review because I saw that somebody had given Real Meal a one star rating unbelievable. I have been several times and never disappointed. Genuinely nice staff lovely food and very reasonable price. Last week we only wanted 2 scones cheese and fruit a pot of tea the staff were as nice as if we wanted a fun meal. And they brought an extra jug of hot water without having to be asked ,which for me is a sign of excellence. Keep up the good work and ignore 1 star reviews that don't even review.
