One of the best tea rooms we have visited. We had crustless quiche which was divine with the accompaniments, along with takeaway cake! A very quirky and quaint place which is also dog friendly. (Rosa enjoyed her biscuit treats and the strokes) You can sit inside or out. Sam and John were so lovely. We will be back next year.

Best Afternoon Tea ever! A nine course extravaganza with everything home made from taster pies, sausage rolls, scones (cheese and sweet with jam and cream) plus sandwiches and cakes and a lovely cherry mousse. As much tea and coffee as we needed served in tasteful china with proper serviettes and tablecloth. Lovely smiling service and great value for money. If we lived nearer we’d be back every week!

Possibly the loveliest scone I’ve had (I’ve had a few) and my husband said his carrot cake was also delicious in this sweet little cafe. The house blend breakfast tea was plentiful, rich and delicious. Sweet tea cups and beautifully served by the delightful ladies who work there. Just a lovely experience and we will definitely return on our next visit to Norfolk!!

Gorgeous quirky tearoom in Walsingham. We were seated inside and the tearoom is rather quaint, full of books, teapots and china crockery! Enjoyed a lovely cuppa and generous slice of Coffee and Walnut cake. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his tea bread and coffee. There are no menus other than a small blackboard inside. I possibly would have chosen something different but of course without a menu, one has to rely on the staff to recall the items. Staff were friendly, chatty and efficient. The food was delicious. Clearly a very popular place and there is seating outside too. If I lived in the local area, it would definitely be a favourite haunt.

Visited twice in June. Its a lovely spot and the food is really delicious. The only thing that I don't like is the reluctance to have any form of menu at the table. I get that the appeal is fresh bakes every day, but when you rely on the person serving you to rattle off the list of what is available, people like me lose track, get flustered and panic order. I kind of get the intent, but I like a moment to choose, discuss with the husband what we might have, whether there is any sharesies happening over cake etc., Honestly, we would have ordered more and stayed longer if we had seen a menu - perhaps that is just different styles, some people are auditory, some are visual - I need a list, and then I would have probably ordered half the menu! Aside from that though, the tea is fab, and regularly topped up, and the quiche, delicious.

The tearoom is quirky and cosy, and set in a wonderful 16th century building. Had a fabulous cream tea at the Read & Digest shop. We were very warmly greeted by the staff. As my mother-in-law was in a wheel chair, we sat outside. It was refreshing to find a tea room that actually uses bone china cups to serve the tea in. My mother-in-law will only drink tea from a china cup. As a massive act of kindness, the manageress offered my mother-in-law a very special cup and saucer, that held great emotional value to her. There's a great selection of cakes and scones to have with the tea. I recommend the lavender scone and the spiced apple scone with pumpkin jam.

Popped in here yesterday after a few months without a visit, and discovered that there was a new owner - a lovely American lady called Sam, who literally took over a week ago but has great plans for the place! She is planning to develop the "tea" section of the menu, with a house blend coming next week, and dog owners will be happy to know that dogs are still very welcome. The menu is simple but tasty - bacon sandwiches, toasties and a variety of delicious home made cakes and scones. The best part is the warm welcome you'll get - Sam is super-friendly, very knowledgeable about tea and books and is happy to top up the water in your teapot if you want to linger, which was very handy yesterday when it was raining and I had an hour to wait for a bus home. The whole idea of books and cake really works - we didn’t see my daughter as she disappeared upstairs. Such a good idea. The building itself is wonderful. I know it has limitations for the staff as they have to carry water to rooms where there is no plumbing but they have it down to a fine art. I loved this place and it will be on our list for another visit to spend more time.

We were on a coach trip to Walsingham where the coach stopped nearby for us to stretch our legs. What a delightful little tea shop just like the ones all towns had once upon a time.

Small cozy and lovely little tea/coffee shop we called in Saturday 3rd August, initially for a tea stop however as it was getting on for lunch time my wife was tempted by the prawn salad , which I can confirm was excellent as were the home made scones.

After a long walk with our dog my partner and I decided a cup of tea and a scone were in order. We are so glad we decided to eat at Read & Digest. Perfectly cooked scones, and a lovely pot of tea to accompany them; just what we needed to revive us. The scones were so good we decided to have some cake and after such a long walk we felt we deserved it! In addition, there were free treats for our tired pooch, which he thoroughly enjoyed. The establishment had a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome. Thanks to all.

Me and my wife discovered this place as we were ambling along Walsingham and decided to take a peek and glad we did. The coffee was outstanding and the Walnut cake was fresh and flavourful. The cozy book shop and the warm friendly staff completed the picture for a perfect afternoon

We fell into the cafe due to a sudden shower, just before it closed. We had a lovely china pot of tea and delicious homemade scone with jam. The inside of the cafe/bookshop is very quirky and we enjoyed a wander upstairs where you can also eat, and browse the books. We thought it good value.

We read the previous review and wondered whether they were caught on a bad day, everyone has them. We visited and were met by two really friendly ladies who let us choose our table. It is a small but cosy place with lots of books and other curios to look at. We had toasted sandwiches and coffee which arrived quickly and tasted delicious. We had seen the homemade cakes and were persuaded ( doesn't take much) to try them. We had a piece of the orange and lemon and a piece of the ginger and syrup - yummy is the only word to describe them All in all, we had a wonderful visit and would recommend anyone to go and try!!

Walked in here and wasn’t too sure at first but what a warm welcome from Freddie (the dog) and his owner! Really made to feel welcome with a lovely cup of coffee and a friendly chat. Loved it - and such a quirky building too! Wish we had eaten there as well.

On arrival we were completely ignored by staff and found a table for ourselves. We sat and watched a couple at an adjoining table being served with baked potatoes heaped with an unappetising looking sauce. We noticed a botched Victoria sandwich, sunk in the middle, surrounded by other amateurishly made cakes. We heard a woman complaining that her knife was dirty. We observed the cramped surroundings, the chaotic-looking kitchen and the water streaming down the windows. After ten minutes during which no member of staff approached us we got up and left.

Absolutely splendid place to pop in to and have tea and cake. Situated on the corner, right next to the main Common Place water pump, this little cafe really made our day trip to Walsingham even more worthwhile. Very delicious and unusual local teas, we tried Nelson’s Blood Orange tea with warm

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on the walk from Sheringham back to Cromer after Sunday morning church at Life Church in Sheringham. Conveniently situated just a few minutes from the coast path. Although we had not booked they were able to accommodate us in the garden. Food was excellent and seemed good value.

The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

WOW …What a find … great food choices . But just needed a coffee and coffee cake before going to the beach. Lovely friendly staff …Fantastic to know they have staff with learning difficulties who were so polite friendly and even gave my dog a treat . It will be my regular from now on . Many thanks

Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.
