Ravenscourt House Restaurant in Highland

Another excellent meal at Ravenscourt House. Delicious homemade soup and couldn’t resist having the Carbonara again. The Bruschetta, Seafood Tagliatelle and Duck Ragu also looked very good and all were generous portions. The service was very welcoming and friendly so it was a great evening.

We’d heard good things about the restaurant and were not disappointed. The food was excellent (calamari starter and venison stew are recommended). The service from owners Nick and Chris was spot on. Friendly, excellent food and wine. We’ll be back.

Wir waren mit unserer Familie im Ravenscourt Restaurant. Wir betreiben in Grantown auch ein Guest House und, lieber Nick und lieber Cris, wir werden euch ganz bestimmt empfehlen. Ich schreibe ganz einfach auf Deutsch weil es meine Muttersprache ist, nebst Italienisch. Wir hatten Vorspeisen (einige), Hauptgang und Dessert (einige). Ich hatte die Muscheln als Vorspeise… Mamma mia!!!!! Dann hatte ich die Carbonare, und zwar so wie sie in Rom (original) gemacht wird mit Guanciale, frischem Ei, Pfeffer und pecorino (nicht einfach ein Käse, alles andere ist Käse hahahaha). Ich war skeptisch, da heute 99% die Carbonara mit Rahm gemacht wird und die meisten nehmen statt Guanciale Speck (was für eine Schande). Etweder es ist eine Carbonara oder es ist Spaghetti mit Rahm-Speck Sauce. Schliesslich kann man einen Kirsch auch nicht als Whisky bezeichnen, oder? Ich kann nur sagen -top, ich habe fertig 😉 Wir kommen bestimmt wieder zu euch

We enjoyed a lovely meal here during our stay in Grantown on spey. The food was fantastic, we both enjoyed the slow cooked duck ragu! The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable on the wines, we chose the red recommended for the duck. One of the best meals we have had! Would thoroughly recommend! The pistachio gelato was incredible.

Amazing service, good choice in the menu along with daily specials and a vast drinks menu on offer.

A cosy restaurant with very attentive and friendly hosts, Nic and Cris. The menu was varied and good to see various requirements (gf, v, veg) could be accommodated. We were still full from a hearty cooked breakfast in the hotel that morning, so only managed a main course each. Both the venison stew and the duck ragu looked and tasted delicious. We will have to go back because there were lots of other dishes I want to try. The chef is definitely to be complimented. I finished the meal with a lovely hot chocolate, expertly made by Nic. Great to see that the restaurant is busy not just with the hotel guests but locals too. This makes it essential to book a table in advance - don’t miss out!

Afternoon tea to die for. We were lucky enough to have a brilliant afternoon tea at Ravenscourt House. A great selection of home made treats. Individual ciabatta rolls, apple and cream choux buns, scones and cream, more sweet and savoury items and endless hot tea. The food was homemade and abundant and we had to ask for a box as there were cream cakes and tarts left over! Great hosts too. Full disclosure, they are friends. Would highly recommend - we genuinely loved our afternoon tea.

Italian menu of the highest quality. Impeccable service in a lovely, homely setting. I had calamari followed by chicken Milanese. Delicious, definitely a great new place to eat in the Cairngorms National Park.

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews, and we were not disappointed. Well worth opting to eat much earlier than usual to get a table.

We had a great meal - big portions and lovely staff. Actually the portions were if anything too big - I'd have liked a big pudding but was just too full - the starter and main were just too nice to stop eating!

I’ve now been for dinner 3 times since the restaurant opened and the experience has been consistently superb. Authentic Italian style food cooked and presented to perfection every time. A good varied menu with gluten free and veggie options. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly with no rush to get your table back for another sitting (one of my pet hates!). I do live locally and have come to know the owners who are passionate about what they do but I have tried to remain unbiased for the purposes of this review which they truly deserve. Would highly recommend a visit.

Staying for the 3 time in the guest house (amazing place) had to try the restaurant and was not disappointed, excellent service, fantastic food and wine, we’re returning for another meal before home. I seriously recommend a meal here and staying in the house, you will not be disappointed by either!

We visited this Italian restaurant only 10 days or so after it opened for business. It was off to a strong start. We really enjoyed our meal. My seafood dish was both delicious and a very generous amount too. Managed to fit in a tiramisu to finish with, which was also lovely. The service was pleasant and helpful. The only thing that could do with attention is the slightly tired decor in the consevatory, but I'm sure that is in the plans.

The food at Ravenscourt was excellent! True, fresh pasta dishes, attentive, friendly hosts and great wine list! I had the breaded calamari rings to start which were perfect! Not at all rubbery like they can be in some places, but fresh calamari that has been breaded by the Italian chef they have in house! The duck Raghu was absolutely delicious! What a wonderful place to have here with real, authentic, fresh pasta in the Highlands…bliss! A total ‘must visit’ when staying here in Grantown on Spey! (If you can get a table-I’m sure they’ll be very busy with food like this) We’ll be back regularly for sure!
