This place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. It's my favourite place to come with 1 friend or a group of friends and just have a good catch-up and chill out in the evening. They have a great range of beers on tap, including craft beers, IPAs, and bitters. My personal preference is Butterley, a locally brewed bitter.

Rat brewery and tap house what more could you want, modern traditional settings with great beer. Great service. One of the gems of Huddersfield.

Dropped in for a couple of drinks and I have to say this is one of my favourite pubs in Huddersfield. Traditional pub with very friendly staff, nice atmosphere and a good selection of ales on offer. Worth dropping in if in the area.

There for a funeral.. no problem with the service but food not great. A lot of us don't use butter on bread and since we had a long day and we're hungry all sandwiches had butter so NO food. Not a fan of pork pies...left very hungry

One for the real ale brigade, great choice of beers and lagers. Friendly efficient staff, Davy always takes the time out to greet you, even if you haven't been in for a while. Good bands and music too

Lovely pub, friendly staff, only thing I can fault is, it was a bit nippy. Would be nice to see the fires burning but that's a tiny gripe for an all round great spot

Classic old style pub, but the real ale is limited to just a couple of partner breweries. Too limited for my liking.

The Rat and Ratchet has been the finest pub in the world since 1985. Every time I go, I have excellent beer at very reasonable prices, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Trip down memory lane! One of the few pubs left standing from back in the day in Huddersfield. Part of the old pub crawl, usually the last one where we'd neck a pint of scrumpy then chuck it all back up on the pavement after getting kicked out at last orders 😂 , then down the lights for a drunken stumble round the dance floor Still a great pub though!

Great and long standing pub/brewery on the fringe of town centre with superb beers including White Rat, King Rat and Jute. Live music from time to time. Large beer garden with tables at rear partially covered.

Walked in. No one behind the bar. Had to wait about 3 minutes for the barman to appear. Went for a second drink about half an hour later. Again no one serving. Sat back doy and after about 5 minutes the barman reappeared. Not impressed! Beer fine. The atmosphere was ok for a quiet Thursday.

This place has been a real ale stalwart for 30 plus years and in the Good Beer Guide since 1991. It is a must for any beer drinker. Pub quiz on Wednesdays starts at 9pm.

Great ale drinkers pub, good range of beers. Not so good for non beer drinkers, poor range of mixers for spirits and only one non alchohol free beer.

I'm not sure if they do food but the welcome, layout and beer garden complement one of the best breweries in the North of England. Ossett and Rat, top notch! Very friendly staff.

Great drinks, great atmosphere and amazing landlord. If you go on a Thursday, you'll sometimes find a fantastic Irish band playing in the back. Not sure about other days. There's also a newly refurbished function room that can be used for groups.

Best pub in Hudds hands down. They always have a great selection of on-site brewed Rat beers and guest ales. And the manager Davie is a legend.

Popular real ale pub. Predominantly an Ossett/ Rat Brewery outlet. 13 cask pumps + 7 keg lines. Beers are always very well kept, friendly staff, outside smoking area and an extensive classic rock jukebox. One small step at the entrance for wheelchair access.Well worth a visit!

The beer quality here is second to none. Music, ambience, second to none. A rare as hens teeth proper pub. Real ale outstanding. Never had a better pint anywhere.

Wide range of home made in cellar, brewery (Ossett) and guests, ale and ciders (though more ales). Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Old and interesting posters decor. Decent old dukebox. Dartboard. Effectively 4 rooms with a garden.

We luv the Rat and Ratchet! It's a fab, genuine, proper, old school pub with real character and feel. Very clean. Real ales, real cider and wine, whatever you want, they have it. The bar manager is really brilliant, knows your order and is so friendly and knowledgeable. Could not recommend highly enough. Friday lunch times are far too short so gonna sort longer get 2 gethers.

A good selection of ales - many of them from their own Brewery or one of the other Ossett brewery pubs.

Great real ale, some of the brewing is done on site and if a short journey from hops to pint improves the taste it shows.

Come here every week as they let us use their function room for a club meet up. Super friendly staff, great prices and a great atmosphere.

Beers very good. King rat and Sevratstopol were very good .Just off the ring road. Beers brewed by Ossett brewery for this multi award winning Camra pub. Very reasonable prices.

A fabulous quirky named pub in the center of Huddersfield worthy a visit. A pub with bags of character and great choice of novel named real beers from it's micro brewery. This a fine example of the national realalevelution challenging the bland beers we get from the biggest and foreign owned breweries.

Camra were there when we visited awarding their pub of the year award. Richly deserved I would say for a cracking selection of ales.

It's a proper pub with real ale, a decent lager and a great place to meet up with friends. Lots of chatter in a warm and inviting atmosphere with dogs and walking boots welcome!

I love this place. Plenty of ale options and the staff are always happy to help, but you've got decent options from cosy seating to standing. I'm sure there's a dance floor in the middle as well. Always like to try and sneak in a pint here when I'm in Huddersfield. Worth a visit if you like your beer

Absolutely tremendous traditional style pub with a really great interior, always a warm welcome and great lineup of Ossett/rat brewery range ales, some brilliant guest ales and stouts too, David is a brilliant hardworking host who always makes you feel welcome, I highly recommend this pub, if you are in the area its an absolute must.
