I didn’t want to give 2 stars but this was mine and my family’s first time trying Malaysian food so we had high expectations…three of us ordered the noodle soup with coconut under the waiter’s recommendation but they unfortunately didn’t like it at all. It’s probably our personal preference, we just felt like there was too much fish sauce in it, so almost nobody could finish their food. We loved the spring rolls, the roti and the drinks!! Service was good, despite being busy on new Years, they were fast at serving.

Really nice food, friendly staff, we had Ria, and relaxed atmosphere. The beef rendang is warming and bursting with flavour and the roti canai were amazingly tasty and the coconut curry with it was so moorish.

The food is not bad but disappointed with the service. My husband and I went in and waited, a waiter came and greeted us, we asked for a seat, he told us to wait and he would check first. The waiter didn't come back. We waited for a long time, finally we asked another waiter, she said there was no space, it was full, we had to wait, if we wanted we could sit near the window facing outside. We said it was okay, we would wait, but because it took so long, we finally decided to take a seat near the window. My husband washed his hands in the toilet downstairs and saw that there were still many empty seats downstairs. My husband was disappointed but patient, we have already ordered. My husband already understood that THE WAITERS DIDN'T WANT TO ACCEPT US. I didn't understand yet, I still enjoyed waiting for the food to be delivered. While eating, every visitor who came and asked for an empty seat, the waiter invited them downstairs, saying there were still seats downstairs. WHAT 😡 I remained patient and thought positively, I continued eating. New visitors arrived and they were told there were empty seats downstairs. Oh my God, they really went too far. And what really made me understand that my husband and I were actually rejected was when I realized that there were 2 women wearing hijabs coming in and waiting, the waiter said the same thing that there were no empty seats, all were full. Then they left, not wanting to wait. But every visitor who entered with them and after them, were all directed downstair. I thought this restaurant had a HALAL certificate displayed on the wall which meant it was wide open to Muslims. It turned out not to be. Just because I was wearing a niqab and the 2 women were wearing regular hijabs without niqabs, we were rejected. If I realized from the start that I was being politely rejected, I would never have gone in. NEVER. I thought a Malaysian Halal restaurant meant the restaurant was good. What is the purpose of the HALAL certificate if Muslims are not accepted? I'd rather cook that food at home, it's so easy to make. I only came here once. When I got home I really cried and until today I am still sad because it turns out we were stupid, we didn't realize we were not accepted.

Can be rather noisy to dine here. As the tables are really closed to each other. Overall the food flavours are pretty authentic to Asia’s standard for what’s available in London. Attentive and pleasant wait staff. Especially Dizzy for being extra attentive. Small space and really busy during meal time. Another plus point of this place is they have clean toilets!

Absolutely fantastic vegan nasi lemak! Rasa Sayang put a lot of effort into ensuring their veggie and vegan options are great dishes in their own right, not just meat dishes without the meat. The atmosphere is always so cheery, thank you to our lovely server Nic! We will be back.. again 😅

First time visitor, will not be the last. We arrived in a downpour and had luckily booked a table as there was still a queue outside, which my son and I commented could only be a good thing! We ordered starters and my son had an unbelievable Roti dish, which was sublime. My starter was nice but I had food envy! I had a seafood noodle dish and Jake had a beef dish, both top notch. Service was brilliant, attentive but not overly and we were done in an hour for a good price. Go as this place is brilliant

We started queuing up around 6:40 on Saturday night. We waited for about half an hour to get in. I ordered Char Kway Teow and Teh Tarik. The Teh Tarik was very caffeinated and I couldn't sleep all night long (I'm very sensitive to caffeine). The noodles are fragrant and delicious. The taste is basically the same as fried rice noodles. The service is fast and the service is good. There is a 12.5% ​​service charge. I saw the customer next door ordered laksa but regretted it as soon as it was served and wanted to order Hainan instead. Chicken rice, but the clerk changed it for him without saying a word and didn't charge more. This is a plus.

We love it! We especially enjoyed their warm hospitality, the food is great and location is also very strategic (nearby Piccadilly Circus) Their staffs, especially Yasin, went all out to make us feel like home and cater to our needs. Definitely recommend this place to others!

Everything tastes good, but not outstanding. Hainanese chicken rice, the chicken is very slippery. Milk tea is not as sweet as chain milk And it’s a little expensive, so you won’t be able to defend yourself once you try it.

Yasin has been a super professional staff and friendly with our boys. The manager also offered us free soup after learning how much the kids loved it! We loved the Hainan chicjen rice, laksa and The pineapple mojito!

Be prepared to queue. Well worth queuing. I’m definitely coming back and I really can’t wait 😁 The rice alone was perfectly cooked. Loved the deep flavours from the curries and a delicate chilli heat that was perfect on such a cold evening. Hainanese chicken was cooked to perfection. All the sides and relishes even had such great flavours. The place is really busy (not surprisingly) and the food was served really quickly from ordering. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Thank you very much.

We came here with our 2 yo for lunch after peppa pig show and everything was just lovely - food was great and the service was excellent (especially Yasin who’s super nice). We will definitely come back again when we are in London

The queue outside was a definite sign that this place was a winner! It is a small, cosy setting within the buzz of the West End. Service is incredibly efficient which means if you are queueing movement will be quick. Quirky, humorous decor, simple straightforward, delicious Malay food of the highest standard. Whilst everything ordered was a hit, I would say do try the Sambal prawns in the mains if you are a prawn fan. The spices are flavoursome in each dish and varied so everyone should find something to suit their tastes. Definitely recommend and all Halal options. Looking forward to returning:)

I don't write reviews often, but the food here was really good! I'm from Singapore, and the chicken satay and salted egg yolk prawns were even better than many I've had back home. That's quite something! The char kway teow is also really good among those I've had in London, with a very nice wok hei. We also really liked the quiet storm mocktail. The portions are also generous. Would highly recommend!

One of the best Asian resto in London! 3 days in London, I had 3x meals here 😁 . They have a unique and tasty food, the Laksa Soup is the best!! Char Kway Teow is really smokey and tastes so good!! They are very warm welcome to us, very kind, and heart warming. Must try!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Rasa Sayng is the most amazing authentic Malay restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. Alice is the star of the show, working so hard to make sure everyone gets their wonderful food and she and the rest of the staff work soooo hard. We will be back!!

Food is average. It’s got a sweet and a tiny bit of spicy kick in it. May not go again but service is good.

Werent sure what to get so took the waitresses recommendation and everything was PERFECT and the portion sizes were massive!! And we still ended up buying seconds! Fed 7 of us to the brim and it wasnt too heavy either! Definitely recommend.

Incredible food - packed with flavour and great portion sizes. Plenty of choice for veggies and vegans as well. Service was so friendly and quick despite it being a busy Friday evening.

Okra Sambal is the best dish there, and one of the best okra preparations I've had, generally. (Hainan Chicken Rice is pretty good. Singapore Laksa is decent, but soup a bit thick and needs more coconut.)

Still the best roti canai in all of London. However it is so popular that it can feel very rushed, which is a bit of a shame.

This place needs a health warning because you're gonna eat so much more than you should! The black pepper beef was especially amazing. Not only is all the food halal, but there's a nice crowd a and really awesome, relaxed service from Ismail and Ria. Just take my money already...

A gem of a place. We came without a reservation on a Saturday and were sat within 10 minutes (lucky us!). Delicious food that was delivered quickly. Roti was superb and fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal - would recommend!

Amazing food! Would recommend the roti canai with chicken curry and beef rendang. We also got rib eye stir fry noodles which lacked a bit of flavour but the other two dishes made up for it. Also the quiet storm mocktail was devine!!!!

We had been looking for a Singaporean or Malaysian restaurant where we could split a Char Kway Teow and a Seafood Laksa between us. Rasa Sayang had many good reviews so we booked. Hands down, one of the best Char Kway Teow’s I’ve ever eaten - proper BBQ flavour, sticky’ish properly-cooked noodles, plentiful and abundant ingredients. The Singaporean Seafood Laksa was equally as good, with a good chilli kick and a cracking broth. Service is exceptional. The restaurant is busy; there were always people waiting outside for a table and yet our meal was served quickly, we didn’t feel rushed and tables were attended to quickly as well as cleaned down thoroughly. Of particular note was one really, very good young man - a manager? - who seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. If I lived in London, I would eat here weekly.

BEST LAKSA IN LONDON EVER! Definitely you would wanna come here if u are visiting chinatown and finding for halal food! Also mentioning the great service by Yasin!

When I visited around 11:30, it was about 70% full and by 12:00, it was full. I ordered noodles, and both were delicious with a simple and easy-to-eat seasoning😋 There are seats in the basement, and the inside of the restaurant is surprisingly spacious. The store staff provided friendly and warm customer service.

Best Malaysian food in London! Hands down! Prices are incredible for the location, for <£15 you can get a big meal! Best of all was Eliz are server, super friendly and efficient, all our food was out in 5 minutes!

The food is unbelievably bland and inauthentic. Even the sambal doesn’t have any spice to it. Disappointing. The roti canai was delicious though. The service was exceptional. But I will be sticking to Roti King and Tukdin for some proper authentic grub.

As Asian the expectations would be high. The food looks good but has absolutely no flavor. Literally taste like water noodles.

I have visited this restaurant twice so far and on both occasions, my group really enjoyed the food and found the service to be friendly and warm. (By coincidence, on both visits we were served by the same person, Yasim!) We ordered the classics including roti with chicken curry, Hainan chicken rice and beef rendang. The food was really tasty and inexpensive. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. This is a lovely spot for a casual meal with friends or individually.

We had Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Hainam rice, Roti canai and few others. They are all equally delicious. The portion is HUGE 😂 They would not let the customers left with hunger 🤪. We definitely recommend people to come and eat here! The service is top notch as well, friendly and super helpful.

We went here today having been at an event in Soho. I have been many times before but my friends had not, we all enjoyed our dishes however like other reviews to get the attention of the staff was impossible. We tried to order drinks after our meals arrived but gave up. My friends wanted to desert but again couldn’t get anyone’s attention. What we did notice was several customers that left before us asked for the service charge to be removed. We paid it purely based on the food being fantastic but we ended up having a desert and coffee at the Curzon opposite where we are members. The staff are too busy talking amongst themselves and ignoring customers which is such a shame 😳.

We have become fans of Malaysian food since our multiple journeys to this beautiful country. In particular food heaven Penang Island. Rasa Sayang is a popular restaurant in central London, in the part called Chinatown, but only steps from Leicester Square. The restaurant is so popular, that we had to queue for a short time outdoors in order to wait for a table to be vacated. We were eager to sample the food of Rasa Sayang to compare it to our memories of Penang Island. As many guests of the restaurant clearly had Asian roots, this seemed very positive. (Later on we had a short talk with the people at a neighbouring table, who were indeed from Malaysia). To cut this long story short I can report that the beef rendang as well as the black pepper beef we ordered could pass muster in Penang. Prompt, sharp service from the staff and for London standards a reasonable bill. A clear five point rating.

We had an excellent meal and Ms. Eliz was very polite and helpful with the dishes. She explained everything and also let us adjust meals to our taste! We had Mae Goreng (spicy and mouth watering), jasmine rice, grilled chicken satay and exquisite spring rolls, crispy, light and tasty!

Had dinner here on a Sunday. It is very busy so better to make a reservation. We didn’t and we queued up and were seated in 1/2 hour. We had the table for an hour. Food came very quickly and was good. The waiting staff interaction could be better and we felt a bit rushed. Understand that this is a popular dining place and can get very packed but there must be a level of understanding that not everyone is familiar with the how food is served etc in the menu. There wasn’t a necessity to be abrupt. London prices so don’t compare to Singapore and Malaysia prices, you will be shocked! 😆 Would I eat here again? If I am in the area, I would. 🙂

Staff was very welcoming and friendly! Yasin helped us with our orders and made sure everything went smoothly. Food was great too. Har Cheong Gai chicken wings were our favourite.

Me and my wife dine there on November 14th, 2024. We ordered salted egg frawns and kangkong. Delicious! We're from Indonesia. And I can say that the taste is similar to the food back home, so it's not dissapointing. Dizzy and Rafael are helpfull and gave us good service while we dine. Lovely restaurant!
