Rasa Sayang in City of London, Westminster

The food was delicious. I had the nasi lemak and it was top notch! It’s quite spicy but very tasty. I also had cold ter tarek (tea) and it was really good. It’s quite milky and sweet. If you enjoy thai iced tea you’ll enjoy this one too. The roti canai is really nice too just a tad bit oily for my liking. The staff were very friendly and recommended some really nice dishes - fried rice being one of them!

Had to wait 20 minutes for a table at around 9 pm so it's better if you call ahead. The food was perfect verry yummy for noodles definitely recommend for stir fried: "kon lo mee with hainanese chicken" and "mee goreng" for soup noodles definitely recomend "raffles Singapore laksa". And also for noodles I don't recommend "char kway teow" it tasted burnt. The sevice was great our servir was the nicest wver I don't know her name but she had black hair in a ponytail she was verry helpful and described the food and showed us photos when we asked. I loved the fact that it's halal because there aren't alot of halal asian restaurants and everything on the menu is halal! The toilets where verry nice and clean. It was verry packed and also you can charge your phone there and with the food they give chopsticks spoons and forkes.

Good halal food for a change. I ordered the sea food noddles , portion was generous and the shrimps are well cooked. My friend ordered the beef and rice and the coconut rice was so tasty

The food is very good and most people prefer Javanese and Malaysian food. What distinguishes it is that it is halal but very spicy. The treatment is excellent.

Great food, the roti canai, rendang and mee goreng were amazing, laksa is particularly strong in fish flavour I would say but delicious. Only downsides are downstairs is very crowded and hot and that it definitely feels like they are trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible. Our food arrived within a couple of minutes and they were eager to clear our plates quickly. Not my service preference when paying for a meal out but worth it for the food, took me right back to Malaysia.

The food was delicious and there was a good amount of spice. The hainanese chicken didn't really taste like something special. Boil chicken with soya sauce.

Ria gave us last minute reservations for 4:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. We were seated immediately and given time to decide our menu. The food was served within 15minutes or so and everything was delicious. Nasi goreng , Singaporean chilli prawns , Fish Sambal, Rib eye beef horfun and chicken kon lo min plus the firecracker popcorn chicken and the fried wings Special mention to Ria and Svetlana for excellent service. Only 2things that were the reason I didn’t give it 5stars was the “discretionary 12.5% service charge “ and the lack of a functional disabled toilet. Also the closest parking is £10/hour at the Qparking and there are no concessions for Blue Badge holders so all in all we paid approximately £20 for discretionary service charge and £20 for parking as we had a person in a wheelchair with us so couldn’t park far away. This made our meal slightly more dearer than we had hoped for but if you can use other means of transport and possibly ask to waive the service charge if it’s allowed, then I’d be eating here every weekend, that’s how delicious the food was.Also please bring back the Halal roasted Duck!

Food is delicious and came fast. We ordered tap water but the tall female staff forgot it. Later when we finished our dish we asked for tap water again. Got it this time. Anyway, this restaurant is worth a try!

What a 10/10 food spot. The HOUSE LEMON ICE TEA. Like no words for it. I broke my fast here in Ramadan with the ice tea and I actually started dancing. So sweet, so delicious. Can I just say, thank you to Eliz for her amazing hospitality, such a sweet lady. Quick to rectify anything and also really helpful and patient. Aside from service, she’s also just so lovely as a person. Thanks for making my dinner. I ordered the roti for starter and nasi goreng for my main. What a gem of a spot. Monday night and it was our first experience at a Malaysian restaurant. You would do well to book in advance cause this place is popular and well deserved! The most important thing I have to highlight was the incredible service given by our server Svetlana. She went above and beyond to make sure we understood the menu and chose well and her recommendations were stellar. If you handle spice well, the spicy beef is delicious and the bread with prawn sauce (similar to naan) is also Incredible. Great cuisine and I've definitely save this place for a next time in London

Had the Nasi Lemak along with the Roti Canai and a glass of Chardonnay! Both were so scrumptious!!! The portions sizes were great and I was more than filled up by the end of my dinner. Service was quick and everyone working was so lovely!!! Can’t wait to come back again.

Sambal prawns are ideal for seafood lovers. For meat lovers, I recommend beef rendang.

28/3/24-Thursday. I went with my husband to this restaurant. Usually, it is a long queue that puts me off going. But on this day. The restaurant was almost packed but had no queue outside. My husband & I went in. We were being shown to the table very quickly. Thanks for their server's excellent services. The food we ordered was truly authentic, delicious & satisfying. Highly recommended⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our server Raphael was really friendly and helpful. Food is always good. Try the Roti Canai, Beef Rendang, Laksa, Sambal King Prawns, chicken satay, kang kong, Char Kway Teow. Teh Tarik is a must. Been coming here for years now and the cooking is consistent. Food comes fast. If you are veggie or vegan they can adapt. Always recommend to friends, and usually a queue which is a good sign.

This Malaysian restaurant has been on my bucket list for ages. Passed by at lunchtime and saw no long lines, so decided to grab a meal. It's usually packed, especially during dinner, so booking in advance is a good idea.The service was super friendly, and the food came out really quickly. I ordered a cup of their signature teh tarik and the Roti Canai with Chicken Curry. The chicken was so tender, with a few baby potatoes in there. The curry was rich with a bit of spice, and paired perfectly with the soft roti! The teh tarik was delicious too, a bit different from Indian chai. Overall, it was a perfect meal. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to try Malaysian cuisine. Do remember to make reservation in advance.

Delicious food but make sure you book if you don’t want to queue outside such authentic Malaysian food & you’ll find yourself surrounded by people from their homeland which is always a good recommendation.

The servers attitude was really bad. One of the waitresses ignored us and talked to us very rude. The dish were nice in general, but because of the service I can only give 2 stars.

Came for some nice food, for two people. Got the beef randang with egg fried rice and a mee goreng and all the dishes were incredible. The waiters were really nice, didn’t have to wait long to get in. Really nice restaurant, shout out to Lilly, she was the one who served us and was especially nice. Definitely recommend

We visited at around 6pm with no wait, although we were reminded of a 1 hour time limit before we sat down. My laksa was delicious and flavorful. We also ordered a roti canai (an appetizer/side dish) along with the mains but it wasn’t delivered until the end of our meal, and we have to send it back because we were all finished with the food and coming close to the time limit. Service was ok in general but too little waiters are attending to too many customers at a busy time.

A bustling, friendly and authentic place with food to die for at a good price!

I’ve been coming here for around 10 years (well before the refurb) and the last two visits (a few months apart) to me feels this place is no longer what it once was. I heard they changed owners, the recipes seem to be the same but recently there have been too many changes in taste and portion sizes which mean for me it’s no longer worth it. Prices have increased a lot - yes I know inflation but comparable restaurants nearby have also increased prices but not to the same level. In particular the (non alcoholic) drinks are now nearer £6 (for a tea Tarik which I used to enjoy but it is just tea with condensed milk, and the portion is small). Portions overall seem much smaller and with beef rendang you have to order rice separately! On top of this a “discretionary” service charge is added so this is no longer a casual eat. A main and a drink will easily set you back £25, other places in Chinatown it’s more like £15-20. My final straw was when my usual menu item of curry laksa started being served in a smaller soup bowl style, so a smaller portion (certainly of the soup and I'd wager noodles as well) and the other issue was due to the size of the bowl making it awkward to eat as there is no room to manoeuvre your noodles. Previously it was served in a larger ramen style bowl which suited the dish much better. On top of this the flavour just wasn't as good - the laksa didn't seem like it has been made in a long and flavourful way and the noodles tasted like washing up liquid. I couldn't be bothered to mention it to the staff as I didn't want confrontation and they didn't ask why I had left over half my meal. The overall atmosphere feels like it's trying to squeeze as much profit as possible between the small portion sizes, service charge and tiny tables and when it was a cheaper more basic place with flavour I was willing to accept more brusque service and the cluttered atmosphere but sadly don't think I'll be back again - there are much nicer places to eat for cheaper in the area.

Excellent place, hidden gem for Malaysian food. Laksa is incredible, 4 giant shrimp and lovely Buddhas delight vegetables- best veg I have had! Nasi Lemak was delicious with thick curry and crunch from anchovies. Great service!!

Didn’t get the crab but the shrimp has a similar flavor. I would recommend the drink most through out the table though.

We had a fabulous experience at Rasa Sayang this evening. The chicken curry was packed with flavour, and the roti tore easily and melted in your mouth! This experience was made all the more enjoyable thanks to our incredible and knowledgeable waitress Crystal! Crystal had more sauce than our chicken curry and sweet chilli dip combined! She was full of fantastic recommendations, and her personable character gave us every reason to want to come back. Thank you Crystal for looking after us so well, and we hope to see you again on our next visit! X

As a Malaysian the taste of the food is very good. Almost authentic but I know there were some adjustments done to make it palatable to bigger demographics. 3 girls downstairs did a great job and I'm happy with the services tho they have forgotten several orders but it's okay 👍🏽.

Despite being Mother's Day, we snagged a table at Rasa Sayang in just 5 minutes. The restaurant's interior feels like a trip through Southeast Asia, dotted with historical trinkets from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Everything on the menu was so tempting. We opted for a good range, vegan options alongside some meat selections. All the curries we tried were bursting with flavor, but for those who crave a kick, they could have been a touch spicier. We chose the beef rendang, Singapore chilli crabs, nasi lemak, char kway teow, 7 treasure Buddha’s delight and lastly the sambal tempeh. However, the true stars was the melt-in-your-mouth meat in the curries. The roti was perfectly crisp with layers upon layers. The drink selection was equally impressive, offering a cocktail for every palate. I went for the calamansi sour, a boozy and tart delight which was a match for my taste. While my boyfriend's sister's initial drink wasn't quite her style, the staff was incredibly accommodating and happily swapped it for something more suited to her liking, a lychee cooler. Even with a rush, the service remained impeccable. There was a minor hiccup with our order, but the staff addressed it swiftly and efficiently. Rasa Sayang is a fantastic choice for a meal with friends or family, offering delicious food, refreshing drinks, and stellar service in a charming, culturally rich ambiance.

Delicious food! The popcorn chicken was the best I’ve ever had. Really enjoyed the Singapore prawns and roti canai. The lychee mocktail also delicious.

had to wait for 1 hour. great Laksa! they use rice noodles, but I personally prefer the bee hoon (rice vermicelli) + mee (egg noodles) variant.

I LOVE Malaysian food so I was excited to go here. But I was really disappointed. I found the food just average. Not bad but nothing special. I should add that I am vegetarian and there are not many veg menu options... But the person I was with was non veg and he wasn't impressed with his meal. It could be that we just made bad choices and ordered boring things. Normally, I would be happy to return to a restaurant again, but there were a few things that really put me off: 1. The tables are far too close together. It made for an unpleasant dining experience 2. While we were there the staff left the door next to us wide open nearly the entire time we were there and it was FREEZING outside 3. There was some kind of horrible alarm that kept going off near where we were sitting. The waitress kept adjusting our bags, coats, chairs etc trying to stop this horrible alarm sound from going off. So it was a fail. Ordinary food and not so great atmosphere. I wouldn't go again.

Not worth it. After waiting an hour outside, though our food came quickly, it was not good. We ordered char kway teow which was mediocre at best and rib eye beef horfun, which was underseasoned, unpleasantly chewy like rubber, and upset my stomach. The waitstaff were all very nice though.

The wait, though lengthy, it was a small price to pay for the comforting food that echo of home. Yasin, our effortlessly cool server, made the experience even more memorable with his welcoming attitude and excellent service. All in all, the dishes were exceptional, and the service was flawless.

Nice flavours, but very light on actual protein content. We ordered three different chicken dishes add in each case, there was very little meat and a lot of bone. While the price of chicken has gone up, it hasn’t gone up THAT much. In the end the curry was mainly sauce and roti with a tiny bit of chicken on the side. Not generous at all. We felt a bit cheated.

The service was rushed and no care was taken by the hostess. It’s was my first time here and I didn’t know what to order. Didn’t get any recommendations or assistance. Felt rushed when looking over the menus confusingly so chose the Kon Loh Mee with Hainanese Chicken. All in all, this place isn’t works what it’s hyped up to be. Expect lacklustre service at peak hours. Was greeted with “do have a booking” when I didn’t even fully stepped into the venue. Once paying, I made it clear to the hostess that my first experience here wasn’t great and she took no initiative to remove the service charge at her own discretion. Plus was charged for the Satay sauce 😅. That sealed the deal for me…won’t be returning at all - was still considering to give another try some other time 😆

Great place, be prepared to queue, had a table downstairs which was cute and cosy. The lady serving was super helpful and recommended some dishes - the roti canai was incredible and spring rolls For mains had poached chicken noodles and it wasn’t to my taste at all. Couldn’t help but feel we were being rushed, as it’s busy snd they need the tables back quickly, bear in mind if you’d like a relaxed dinner. Overall service was good and would go again but would choose something completely different from what I ordered.

Came here for some lunch with a mate, the service was really fast and the servers were super friendly and helpful, they recommended some dishes off the menu. The food was good, but some things felt a bit misleading, I ordered the chicken noodles and was told a couple times it was hot, which is great because I love hot food. When it came it was tasty but not spicy at all. My mate ordered the chicken nasi goreng, when it came out the chicken was seperate to the rice and were deep fried chicken wings. Ive not had loads of Malaysian food, but this seems a bit weird! But the portions were decent and the food tasted pretty good.

Second time visiting, as first time visit was very nice. Roti was really nice. Initially came for the chili crab, since they posted on their Instagram on the day of the chili crab, to try etc, only to find out when get there, there wasn’t any, and it was in the afternoon. A bit unimpressed this time since nasi lemak came out cold. Servers took really long to take order too, even though it wasn’t busy time of the day.

The portions of the food are huge, and friends say the roti is very authentic and the Indonesian fried noodles are delicious. The service is good.

I waited about 15 minutes on busy dinner hour. It is a very busy restaurant. There was a long line on the rainy and cold night probably people don’t mind the rainy weather in London:) I was willing to take any seats so I got in a little early. I ordered Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, and Roti small plate. They are all very delicious and way better than the ones I had in New York City. They are smoky and have strong taste like salty and seasonings. I would definitely want to go back to London for this!

food was actually good and atmosphere was good too. Service was poor. Couldn't get the staff's attention when trying to get a seat - a few saw us waving but actively ignored, almost impossible grab staff's attention to order and get the bill even after seated.

We were really looking forward to our visit having last visited the restaurant in its previous location nearer Leicester Square. We were quite disappointed by this experience. The tastes were great but the ambiance was not. Far too loud, too rushed, it felt just like a fast food dining experience but with table service. Don’t get me wrong the staff were excellent but it is definitely not a place to go for a comfortable relaxed meal. We won’t be returning. The price was far too expensive for the food we received. Overall disappointing. Sad

I am from Asia and travel for business across the globe every week, this is by farrrr the best malay/singapore joint in the UK and perhaps Europe. The prawn in laksa is the biggest ive had in a 15 quid only fish, and fresh! And the soup is genuine like I was back in malay!! Thank you!!!

If you come alone then you might be seated sooner than groups. There’s always a queue in front so please be patient, it moves quite fast. Food is always great and served within 15-20min. I’ve been here a few times already. Price is okay for me considering the portion and quality of ingredients, always fresh. Payment via card. My favourite is the curry laksa. Atmosphere is very busy and noisy though but i don’t mind since the food is great xx

A great restaurant if you appreciate good cuisine that will leave you feeling happy and full! The roti and Laksa are my favourite! The chicken Satay too. The food here was delicious!!! We didn’t book so we of course had to wait but even so, the waiters were so lovely. Special shout out to Eliz who gave the best service and even recommended some absolutely gorgeous dishes (Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak). Definitely returning soon.

You would think a busy place like this is actually worth it. But the service stinks. The waitress would even let me explain what I wanted. All i requested was for coffee without condensed milk. She just shot me down saying NO NO NO. Thats not in the menu. Definitely not worth the wait. She spoilt the whole mood of the table. Rude service and very noisy place!

For a lovely seafood Laksa in Chinatown. Very helpful and friendly staff especially Lilly who is very sweet and both times I’ve been there she was bubbly and efficient. Food was good. My friend had the Rendang and said it was tasty. I prefer eating upstairs rather to downstairs as the acoustics make it difficult to hear downstairs. Best to book in advance or you will have to queue as it’s very popular.

Tucked away in the heart of Chinatown, Rasa Sayang is a culinary delight. 10/10 for food, flavours and service. My friend and I sought shelter here from the rain and the food recommended by our server Raphael hit the spot. We shared a Grilled chicken satay and the Laksa. All in all soul food with incredible flavours. Definitely recommend.

I have started to become a regular here, me and my family meet up here to eat on a weekly/fortnight basis. We have always received the best service from a staff member called Eliz, she never fails to make us smile and satisfied. Her service is like no other, she really makes the experience so much better. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great. The Nasi Goreng is deffo a dish to try from here as it is my favourite!!! The only downside is some of the seating is a little tight if I’m being fussy but other than that it’s a must go if you have not tried it yet!

Favorite Lo Hei Yu Sheng 撈起魚生😋 It was the best experience with Eliz; she gave us wonderful service. The food was delicious, and the highlight of the meal was definitely "Lo Hey Yu Sheng"! She patiently explained each step of the Yu Sheng preparation process, and we completed the final step, which is tossing it together. Happy Lunar New Year!
