Food tastes good, friendly service, big portions, a bang for the buck!

I have been meaning to go to this restaurant as love Malaysian cuisine. My friend and I arrived earlier than our booking slot and the front of house staff were very helpful and welcoming in getting us a table. We ordered the roti canai starter to share, the beef rendang and the Raffles Singapore laksa as main. Roti was soft and flaky and canai was decent. The beef rendang was recommended as we wanted the spiciest item on the menu - although it was flavoursome and tasted authentic, it wasn’t spicy enough in our opinion. The additional sambal wasn’t spicy either. Ordering the laksa was confusing, I was told by the staff that although the laksa is seafood based, a chicken version was also available. I’ve had laksa at other restaurants where poultry and seafood are mixed so I requested a mixture of seafood and chicken…they said they couldn’t add chicken and if I wanted chicken then i’d need to order the hainanese chicken and be charged for that additionally. I was fine with this as was happy with the seafood broth and how it came but just wanted the addition of chicken. The staff did say that adding the chicken into the laksa would change the taste of the laksa and consistency of the chicken so I asked for it to come on the side. The laksa itself was disappointing, it lacked seasoning and depth of flavour, the noodles were really soft and not easy to swallow without a feeling of choking, I’ve generally had rice vermicelli noodles but there was no option to change the type of noodles. The hainanese chicken came as it says on the menu “still slightly pink”, didn’t enjoy that at all, too strong a flavour for my liking. So I should have stuck to their recommendation of having the laksa as is, but in my opinion still not as flavoursome as I’ve had elsewhere. We did get an NHS discount which was good.. even though they charged us full price and then had to reimburse us.. mix ups happen. Venue is ok, sticky floors downstairs to go to the toilets, and no toilet paper. Prices are reasonable which is a positive but food needs a bit of an oomph!

We came here yesterday for late lunch and early dinner. It was not that busy when we came as it’s just after the lunch rush. Food was great! One of the best Beef Rendang I had…. I think the best so far in London. The nasigoreng was also good. Servings were good to share with 2 people. Reasonably priced for London given the location. The restaurant was clean and tidy even toilets. staff were great and accommodating. They are also happy to give recommendations. Will definitely recommend and will comeback to try other dishes! Oh and the shirts that the staff were wearing were so cool and hilarious (thank you for letting me take a photo of them-you guys were great sports ☺️). We also liked the dessert Sago Gula it was different but yummy… great recommendation….👌🏼

First time at this restaurant. My friend & I were highly disappointed by the laksa - which had an overpowering fish oil odour and taste. We are not picky eaters but were unable to finish our food. They didn’t seem to care when I voiced our disappointment to the server and ignored us. Good spring rolls, however would NOT recommend the laksa

AHHHHHHH WHAT CAN I SAY BUT YAAAAAAAS. Our waitres Vy was absolutely amazing. She knew i wanted lemon and hot water before I knew that I needed it. So attentive and let me not even speak on her compliments. 10 out of 10 service, food, atmosphere, cleanliness. Couldn't fault it and I love my food. Portion sizes were very big as well. Great value for your money. I will most definitely be back.

Vy was so lovely and her service was great. This was the first time some of my family tried Malaysian food and they really enjoyed it. We did have to wait a while outside but we were kept informed of wait times every step of the way. There were also heaters outside. Lovely touch

Delicious food! The nasi lemak was spectacular, and the roti with curry to dip in was *che’fs kiss*. We went on a Monday early afternoon, seated right away and loved everything. Will 100% be back!

Yasin our server was excellent. Very helpful with the menu and got our cocktails perfect. The food was great, having been to Malaysia before I’ve been looking for somewhere to recreate the magic. Outside of Laksamania, Rasa Sayang is definitely a place to try for good Malaysia food. I had the roti canai with chicken curry, popcorn chicken, shrimp sambal, spring rolls, beef rendang and coconut rice.

Visited this popular Malaysian/Singaporean resto in Chinatown with my friend. . We ordered the following dishes to share: -Sambal Kangkong Belacan The morning glory was stir-fried with sambal, onion and shrimps. It emitted an intense sambal aroma, and the veggie was fresh with a great wok hei. -Singapore Chilli Crabs The crab was served with sweet chilli egg gravy and aromatic black pepper sauce. It had a slight spicknesso and a savoury flavour. The dish came with four deep-fried mantou buns, which were enjoyable to dip into the sauce. -Hainanese Chicken Rice The slow-poached chicken, served at room temperature, was accompanied by fragrant oil rice. The chicken was a little bit coarse, while the oil rice was nicely-cooked. . The resto was immensely popular, evidenced by the really long queue. It had two floors and the seatings were a bit crowded. Nonetheless, the resto was very clean and neat, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They provided us with various tools to enjoy the crabs.

Did some heavy research for good eats in London as I'm not a local but I like to eat like one. This place did not disappoint. Table was a little cramped but it's a good sign when the place is super busy on a Monday afternoon so we coped. Ordered roti and curry dip, popcorn chicken, beef rendang and nasi lamek which sounds like a lot but was juuust about the perfect amount for two people sharing. Curry sauce was so good that both my brother and I proposed marriage to the chef. Honestly, it was incredible and there was much discussion as to the ingredients. Popcorn chicken had the perfect amount of seasoning and stayed crispy throughout the rest of the meal. The rendang was much sweeter than I've had before now but it was rich and soft and perfectly edible. The nasi lemak was outstanding. The little crispy anchovies and peanuts adding texture and flavour to each bite. The sambal was sweet and hot, the curry smooth and deep in flavour. We loved it and I may dream about it again tonight. Staff were all friendly and very much in agreement that the curry sauce is legendary. That's always a good sign. 100000 out of 10. Would eat here daily if I didn't live hundreds of miles away!

Authentic Singaporean Malaysian Restaurant in London Chinatown 🇲🇾🇸🇬 They served the best chilli crab I’ve had in London 🙌🏻🦀 The staff recommended the Roti Cannai and Laksa, it was a 10/10 🥰 We also loved their drinks selections including the iced Milo and Teh tarik ☕️

Had heard great reviews and decided to visit this Malaysian cuisine restaurant. The location is centrally located in the heart of China town. The place was fully packed as it was the Chinese new year. The taste of the food os a 3.5/5 compared to our Malaysian restaurants I have tried before. The biggest let down were the roti served in Roti canai as they were frozen nd not freshly prepared. Thats the least one expects after payment a high amount gor the food. We ordered 2 Roti canai, popcorn chicken, prawn cracker, Laksa and paid 88£ for 4 adults . Rather than returning here I would try other restaurants with same cuisine. Well the service and staff are a 5/5, so that’s worth an applause considering how busy the place was.

As a Malaysian residing in London, I had the chance to visit Rasa Sayang, and it was a delightful experience. Despite not having a reservation, I was seated within 10 minutes, even with the restaurant being fully packed. The atmosphere perfectly blends the nostalgic charm of a classic Malaysian eatery with a touch of London’s elegance. The staff were energetic, attentive, and efficient, adding to the overall warmth of the place. The food was flavorful, instantly transporting me back home. A great spot for anyone craving genuine Malaysian flavors in the heart of London!

My friends and I dined here today with a reservation for 7:15 PM, expecting to enjoy our meal. However, just 20 minutes in, we were told we needed to leave because they needed the table back. We were prompted four times to wrap up by 7:45. To make matters worse, the manager kept touching my friends on their shoulders, which felt inappropriate. One of my friends, who is heavily pregnant, was especially rushed to eat. This was quite frustrating, and we noticed that the group at the next table was also upset and was raising their voices for the same reason. I strongly urge management to reconsider this disgusting behaviour; it’s unacceptable and should not happen to any anyone. would give ZERO stars if there was ZERO

Food is okay but service is getting worse. Last year we went there for group of 5, and we were rushed to finish our food, waiter keeps on checking our plates. Recently, we went again, we always book in advance. Waiters rushing us. And, when we finished our food, but not our drinks, we were told that they need the table back. That was around 20-30mins from our time booked. So annoying, as we cant enjoy our food and talks with friends to be rushed like this. Whats even more disgusting was- they gave us the bill without asking. Service charge were added! Very poor service! They should remove their booking service if they treat customers like this.

To the amazing team at Rasa Sayang! I’m so proud to be a Malaysian tonight when I brought my Italian friends to the restaurant. Even though we waited a tad in the queue, Yasin was really quite exceptional in the manner in which he kept us informed the entire time. I couldn’t imagine being as diligent as him! He was always polite, convivial & so authentic in the way he looked after all of us. Someone had a go at him (an older woman who asked him why she had to wait), and I was astonished at how he managed her lack of respect at how she spoke to him - without changing his expression or attitude towards her, he just benignly told her why. I was especially irate on his behalf because the lady acted in that manner of an over entitled & over bearing person that we so often see embodied in an older woman. Please, all you aunties out there; Yasin could be your son/nephew. He’s trying his best to be professional and courteous in the face of 10-12 ppl waiting btw 10-20 minutes. It’s not an easy job; he makes it look easy due to being the inveterate professional! He ought to be applauded & validated because not many young people of his age can do what he does. Such maturity is normally only acquired through years of being in the most thankless industry: hospitality. Fgs, even the government are considering bringing back the Youth mobility scheme to help the hospitality sector out. Let’s make Yasin’s job joyful! The real kudos is due him because my mates who are from Italy (where hospitality is valued alongside good food), was so impressed, he said “I have never been to an Asian restaurant where the service was impeccable and we were made to feel as welcome as conquering heroes!” Thank you so much, Yasin! You made my evening as I don’t get to go out much now and you have made my rare treat memorable. Bless you! Dawn, Robin, Ajay, Sal and Ash

The service was great, Even though we had to queue for 45 minutes for a table for 5, the employee (Yasin) kept updating us on the status and even got a chair for a pregnant woman in the group so she didn't have to stand. The wait was also certainly worth it, I got the Laksa Noodle soup which was perfectly flavoured. I will definitely be returning.

There's always a queue here and I know why. The food is absolutely delicious with generous portion size. You'll leave with a happy belly. I highly recommend the beef rendang which melts in your mouth. The roti canai is also a must. So simple but filled with flavor. Staff were friendly as well which makes it a better experience.

I went here with a group of my friends. We booked a table and we waited while the last group was leaving so only got in 5-10 minutes after our booking. We ordered drinks and food and were contentedly eating until we were told that we would have to leave soon as it was reaching 1 hour since our booking started. I was not aware the booking was only 1 hour, standard is 90 mins. We were literally in the middle of our food and had most of our drinks left! We had to scarf things down and when we went to pay we asked to remove the service charge so the manager came to ask why. Of course we explained that we were very rushed and nowhere when we booked did it tell us at the time that it was only an hour, and they were late seating us to boot! Although he was apologetic and removed the service charge, he explained that's what management's business strategy is and that they can't do anything if that's what direction is from the top. Then apparently he alluded to part of the issue being that influencers often coming at peak times and taking up the booking slots of paying customers. Implying they don't pay and they just go there to get free food and take up large group tables. Was outraged when I heard that. Would never waste my time coming back here.

A great Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown. A good menu with lots of choice, including rice, noodles, breads and more, with quick and friendly service. It can get busy, so best to book. Good value for 2024, with two meals, a starter and beers for two coming in at a bit over £50 - and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely one to return to, and to recommend to friends.

Shout-out to Yasin for going above and beyond! Seriously, that level of customer service is rare these days. Made the whole experience so much smoother and less stressful. Definitely deserves all the praise. Give that person a raise!

Always wanted to try this place but never found the occasion to - excellent vibes and even better food when I went during Lunar New Year! Highly recommend the Nasi Lemak! Big shoutout to Ria who made our meal really enjoyable.

While we went unreservered we were still given a seat which was great! I went a little while ago during lunch time. My food arrived cold and noone was really around to warm it up. I asked for something spices and was recommended a chicken dish...it was not spicey at all
