Rao Balti House in Newcastle upon Tyne

Very very disappointed. The take away arrived 25mins earlier than what JustEat suggested & the standard of food in my opinion is that everything was just reheated. Onion Bhaji’s were not crispy very soft & didn’t taste fresh. Both the main dishes Chicken Madras & Chicken Tikka Bhuna were uneatable with how cold the chicken was. The Bombay Aloo were just chips in sauce. The homemade chips were soft & grey. After spending nearly £50 & still hungry I am really disappointed & everything has just ended in the bin.

The best Indian takeaway i’ve had in a long time! Full of flavour. Collected the order which was piping hot still when i got home.

lamb tikka massala.. sauce was like glue, and orange in colour. normally massala sauce is red.. just didn't taste right at all.

WARNING.. DO NOT GET KEBAB MEAT.. We've had various meals from here, my first experience of their kebab was nasty, we then decided to try the curries. I can honestly say we've only had one (not as good curry) when the lamb was fatty. The phal is lovely. 4 years later I decided to try another house special kebab, it was awful. If people still eat this muck after I last tried it, they have no taste buds. The kebab meat is obviously the cheapest money can buy,. gritty and tastes very fatty. The chips are really nice as are the naans. I'll only ever use for curries now if at all. Both the chilli and garlic sauces are watered down considerably. I now don't feel hungry so I've picked the chicken (no fillet as advertised) and the 2 pieces shish and put them on the naan bread for breakfast. I can only give a honest review, I'd advise staying away from the kebab meat and ordering curry. Disappointed and bewildered how they are still kebabs like this.

i use ROA maybe once a week, but last night was exeptional, , tandori mixed frill / keema garlic nan , best ive ever had , , delivery as usual within 40 minutes , spot on a long time since i a meal from here nothings changed great food quickly delivered and very pleasant delivery driver , top marks. i order from here most weeks , great food nice people and nice delivery drivers , until last weekend , maybe just a new driver , i get charged 2 quid delivery thats fine i only live a short distance away , this time it worked out at 6 quid delivery , mistake etc , i rang ime not happy with the response shame after being a long time customer i wond order from here again

DO NOT order from here I got crippling food poisoning which lasted weeks it has messed my stomach up and now I am sensitive to any food that isn’t bland or dry. If you don’t want to suffer like me please don’t eat from raos

Absolutely disgusting,used once and great then omg, second time food was freezing so rang and spoke to a so called manager who didn't care, gave it benefit of the doubt tonight so ordered and i had to put pizza in my airfryer as undercooked and partner threw chicken tikka in the bin

How the hell this place has great reviews is beyond me , when i first ordered it was great , second time was freezing a few weeks ago so thought no i will try again but I've had to put pizza in the airfryer as was under cooked, partner threw his chicken in the bin..now off my list on just eat, has it changed owner's ?

Over to visit our son and he recommended this Indian as it is his regular. On opening our order chicken tikka pathia full of chicken however chicken tikka dansak had only one piece of chicken and the rest was pineapple. We rang up to make them aware and resolve the issue and we spoke to the owners son who told us that "this was impossible we've never had that complaint". The food we did receive was absolutely beautiful but unfortunately due to their awful customer service, being called a liar, being told "there is nothing i can do" and being that our son is a regular he has said he will not order from here again. It is extremely disappointing because the food was amazing.

This is the very best takeaway or delivery service in the NorthEast. Most prepare weekly and freeze. This is all prepared on order. It is extremely tasty. You need to try it to know. 5 course meal is less tgan £25 pp!!!Delivery staff are family too so its always first class

By far the best Mixed Kebab, Chicken Bhuna and OB i've ever had in Newcastle. Top rates for Rao Bhalti. Definitely recommend.

I ordered the house special kebab on just eat. It said not spicy and when the food came, it was a little spicy. Too much for me. I rang and explained. Customer service was very good. They sent plain kebab meat for us. Was very nice. The spicy food had so much flavour. Unfortunately it was just too hot. Will order again :)

Collected order. Ran out of Keema rice but they were more than willing to replace for another something else, regardless of price. Went for something same price. Got home and started serving up the tea, only to realise that the pizza was chicken tikka, not tikka masala. Called to advise but they were more concerned about disagreeing than resolving. Told him that I wasn't trying to blag a freebie and just letting him know but the employee just said bring it back so they could inspect. I advised not possible as dished up and the order was already delayed. Disappointed no attempt to deliver new pizza. Also no salad with starters, was told haven't done for 2-3 years but I got it about 2 months ago??? Clearly happy to treat customers with contempt. Sadly, will be a while if ever, I go back. Shame as nice food otherwise, just poor service.

Just had Meat Thali for 2. Unbelievably delicious, generous portions, and great value. Service on time, driver lovely and kept to all distancing rules.Ive used this Takeaway for at least 12years and wouldn't use any other.

10 years in NE, tried over 30 Indian take aways in the area. After reading a review for here saying best Phall,I thought that sounds promising as nowhere ever makes decent Madeas, Vindaloo, or Phall. I went with Madras with it being a school night. Best curry in 10 years living up here and first good Madras. Even the Korma which I can't normally stand was really nice. Rice good, nan bread good. There are lots of highly reviewed curry houses in the area which can't make a good curry. I can usually make better myself but I can't make a Madras to this standard. Really impressed, won't go elsewhere again now. For once didn't feel ripped off. All great food.

What a shame! used to be lovley this place I ordered a special kebab it was rancid no taste of mint and Nan was soggy and got a bbq kebab which was spicy as hell! Complete waste will not be coming back!

Ordered from all indians around the westend. Mate told me about this place. Had the tastiest pizza last week and the best phal ever. Couldnt believe how much i got. Gutted ive only just discovered it half a mile away 😃 will go nowhere else now

I ordered our usual but instead of telephoning them I noticed they were using there own new website so I thought I’ll give it a shot I ordered my meal and waited for delivery.Forty minutes later it arrived I started to unpack it when I realised they had sent the wrong meal I called them and explained they did not want to know I told him if my order was not replaced with what I had asked for then I wouldn’t order no more.He would not replace meal so be aware and order somewhere else as these people don’t deserve our hard earned money

Just recently discovered this place.Rang up and collected orders within 20 mins. Excellent service and some nice tasting food. The portions are large which is always a good thing.Been twice in 8 days and will inevitably be returning again real soon.Wonderful find.

Been getting these for years. We usually get meat thali set meals as good value for the money. We always get chips extra. Cans of pop and bottles pricey though

Terrible. The korma tasted like it had a pound of sugar in it. The chicken kebab was the worst. It was like one of those microwave jobs you can buy in iceland.

Amazing food, everything is always on point!!! Definitely would recommend it.

Have been using Rao for many years at least once a fortnight. Normally get one of their set meals as there is more than enough to feed all of us. Lads in shop are really friendly and helpful. Never had a bad meal from here. Good value and would recommed.

Felt compelled to write a review as the lamb balti was absolutely brilliant, best I've ever had. Spicy but not too hot and very moreish, with a very clean taste. Have tried the balti pizza which was also excellent. Would highly recommend this place.

Tried a bit of everything for the entire family. They have a range of things to try from. Curries (Rao Chicken), kebabs (Balti Mix Kebab and special kebab), wraps (Tikka wrap with garlic/salad), chicken tikka masala pizza. The chips were hand made. Fantastic taste. All family members spoke highly of whatever they ate. Have been using them for past 17 years. Tried everything on the menu and it all tastes good to me. Highly recommended. Well done to all the staff at Rao Balti !!

Ordered food from here as I have for the last years, had 1 bad delivery before but decided to try it again. I was told 30 mins for delivery and 50 minutes later it turned up. I don't mind waiting 50 minutes, but this had obviously been ready long before as we had to microwave it to warm it up. Salad and raitha were missing. Mushroom pilau was boiled rice with some mushrooms thrown in,very bland. I've had some lovely food from here but I won't be trying it again as there are plenty take aways out there.

There's so much I want to say but Im gonna keep it simple, the food here is exceptional.

I have ordered a few different dishes from the rao.balti and can say they all have been top notch. They can't be beaten on price also. Probably the best Indian takeaway in the west end.

Balti mixed kebab is absolutley unreal. Kebab meat and chicken tikka marinated in balti sauce. Always arrives very fast and piping hot. More than enough for 2 ppl and its about £9.50 delivered. We get it without the vegtables, which would be peppers, onions and mushrooms i think. Garlic sauce is nice and certainly dont need chilli as the balti is hot enough. 5*

Hi this take away has been one we have used a lot for a curry and they have been very nice however for a change we decided to try a kebab and pizza. Yes well never again! The pizza was ok but the kebab on the other hand was disgusting as from the pictures I took of this and yes there may be a lot of meat but it does cost £9.00 but there is also just as much grease in the try. All you can taste is the grease on the meat. And called the take away to complain and they said it was all the fat off the onion and Pepers in it they also said they put a bit curry sauce on it (Can't see any curry sauce just grease). And the smell was enough to make you reach when you open the box. This was a total waste and would advise people not to order a kebab unless you are trying to kill someone.
