I got a wowcher deal for my BF's bday and we both enjoyed the food and the experience of cooking the steak on a hot stone. My BF has greatly enjoyedthe fillet steak and chips. I had the seafood platter. If you're hungry, go for the steak but if not, the seafood platter is filling enough. We really enjoyed our meal and would recommend the steaks.

Very disappointed! I visited the restaurant in February 2015 together with 3 of my friends. We found it randomly on the following web-site: WWW.TABLEPOUNCER.COM. All reviews were very good and site was offering 50% discount for reservation through their page. So, we decided to reserve. Reservation costed 10 pounds for 4 of us (2.5 pounds per person). The restaurant is located in the single room with a very small kitchen at the corner. When we entered the door there was a terrible smell as if something was burning and the room was totally in smoke (no ventilation as you guess). Me and one of my friends, we arrived earlier and ordered a bottle of red wine while waiting for the others. The wine looked nice, but tasted as if there was some other type of alcohol in it. I couldn’t finish even half of the glass and my friend had black lips all the evening from it. Our friends joined us very soon. So, we began our dinner. The choice of starters was not too diverse – ordinary salads. Then we moved on main dishes. We ordered one beef steak, one lamb steak and two steaks of sirloin. And here comes their “miracle” – hot stones with extremely small slices of meat on top. The meat itself was far from steak; I guess they just cut the slice of it and throw on the hot stone strait away and the rest relies on your cooking talent: how you manage to give meat some taste until it fries on the stone. I love souses very much and I have never had stomach problems in my life before, but from the souses which were accompanied with the meat, I was feeling terrible stomach ache all night long. As you can imagine, it didn’t take more than ten minutes to finish the main dish and we asked for the receipt. Check carefully, because as in our case, there might be listed things which you have not ordered at all! But this is not everything. There was some kind of 12.5% “optional” service charge in the receipt which we did not notice at that time and later on they explained that it was because we made reservation through internet site. Have you ever heard about such charges before?! Ah, have in mind also, that their mathematic rules are different (with an ordinary mathematics which we study at schools, our 12.5% service charge turned out to be 20% in reality). In sum, you can rarely see such a cunning service anywhere in this world – totally inappropriate to its price! To conclude, I am sure that I will never go there again, but I dedicated my valuable time for writing this review to make you people think before reserving place there. Don’t be tempted from those fake comments under the restaurant on that crap reservation web-site, where as we found out, it is not even possible to leave review at all.

We visited last night and had a very pleasant evening. We were given a Groupon voucher as a present and felt a bit dubious going as the reviews are very mixed on here but we had a lovely evening. We were greeted by a super friendly waiter (owner maybe) and talked through what we could have as part of the deal. The wine was ok - not the nicest but very cold so fine. We both had the sirloin steak with chips and really enjoyed it. We also ordered some peppercorn sauce for a pound which was nice. It could be nice if they offered chips and salad as part of deal maybe as I left perfectly satisfied but my husband was still hungry. The steaks were really tender though. We went about 6.30pm on a Thursday and there were about 4 other tables there - it wasn't smokey but our clothes did smell of food when we left. Overall we enjoyed the experience however I don't think I would pay full price for what you get - the vouchers make it a good value meal out.

Me and my boyfriend bought a Wowcher deal to visit this restaurant and had a really nice evening. The restaurant is quite out of the way and so isn't the easiest to find but it is only around a fifteen minutes walk from Farringdon tube station.Inside, the restaurant is small but has a very open and modern feel because of the glass walls and the tables aren't too close together like in some smaller restaurants, which was nice. For our meal we went for a sirloin steak on the lava stone each and a side of chips. The steak was nice and it was fun to try cooking them yourself on the stone and the chips were also nicely done. I had a brownie for dessert which was delicious and really rich! Our deal included free Red or White House wine which was average although there are several other wines you can buy from the drinks list which we did not try.It was nice to see that Rango himself was working and he was very polite and friendly. The staff other than him were mostly nice, occasionally a little grumpy. The menu itself could do with a revamp as it simply contained phrases such as 'cheesecake' with no description of flavours etc. but apart from that the restaurant was really nice and I can't wait to try hot stone steaks again!

Bought a groupon voucher for a party of 4 to use while we were in London. Love the idea of cooking steaks on the hot lava stones, quality of food was excellent and the house wine we got with our deal was one of the best house wines we have had. Staff were very friendly and were happy to make recommendations for dessert - strawberry cheesecake is a must have. A great alternative to the usual chain restaurants and we will deifinately go again with a groupon voucher.

My partner and I bought a groupon before xmas for two steaks sides and a glass of wine. We decided to use this in January.. When we arrived it was defiantly a no frills dinning experience - the tables were a bit battered around the edges! The menus came and we could tell the service was going to be only ok! There was no going out the way. The wine turned up and you could tell it was the cheapest stuff out there. The steaks came and they were lovely however ketchup mustard and mayo were dipping sauces? Didnt bother us however as the hot stones were brill and the food was good. I must see the toilet was unisex and not the most clean thing!! When we went to leave we realised we completly smelt of smoke.. Maybe they need some fans? I did enjoy the evening and im glad I went with a cheap groupon deal but don't think I'll be returning anytime to soon

Went on a Groupon and can't believe some would pay full price for this when you consider the range of deals available in other good restaurants in London. We were absolutely smoked out by the steaks on the hot stone and given that there were a few other parties dining, the restaurant was a smoggy haze of steak smoke. The side order of bread and olives was the cheap variety out of a pickled jar and the bread had been microwaved. It was also a very small portion and given the price tag of £3.50, I would not have expected it to be small and poor quality. The chips were the same price and were the frozen out of a bag variety which is fine except when you consider the price and that they were also a fairly small portion. I also cannot fathom how tomato ketchup, mayo and english mustard can be labelled as 'dips' to accompany a steak. We stood up to leave immediately after finishing our food to escape the smoke and were confronted by the waitress asking if we were going to pay the discretionary 12.5% service charge or if she should delete it. Unsurprisingly, we opted for the latter and left a pound on the table to which she pulled a face and then walked away. We will not be returning and I would strongly advise people to stay well away and consult something like OpenTable for a similarly priced but much better deal.

Not a good experience at all and trust me I love a low key restaurant with good food. The waiter was friendly but did not know anything about the menu, he wasn't sure what was included in the price and he served us the wrong bottle of champagne and wanted us to pay extra for his mistake. There were only 2 more guests around us, the atmosphere weren't good at all, the decor is poor and we had to wait way too long for our food.In my opinion the food is way too overpriced. They serve the cheeseboard with salad no grapes and the cheese were awful. It just wasn't a nice evening at all at Rango's.

Went here with my boyfriend for a casual meal out. I would say that it is suitable for low key meals but the decor is quite sparse and the atmosphere lacking somewhat so its not suitable for special occasions. The food is really really good. We had the hot stone squid to begin with which was tasty and piping hot as it was cooked by us on the stone. The steaks for main were the best steaks I've ever had, tender and well marinated. However I would say that it wouldn't work if you liked your steak very well done as I left mine on the stone for the duration of the meal and it was still medium towards the end. The chips that accompanied the steak were also very good.Overall it's well worth going for the steak and the novelty of cooking on a hot stone. Another aside, the stones are very very hot and uncovered so perhaps not suitable for children.

We arrived for an evening meal quite early (6pm) after work. Perhaps due to the time, the restaurant was not busy, but there were a few customers dotted about: four towards the back and two at the bar (although I think one of those suddenly became a waiter). We were greeted by a well mannered, friendly waitress who offered us a choice of seats from the many available. We ordered some wine which was fine. The menu was very simple. If you are a fan of Florette salad fresh out of the bag (you know, with those purple leaves no one likes), you are in for a treat. We ordered the tiger prawn salad and tomato and mozzarella salad starters. The tiger prawns were clearly cooked from frozen though that is certainly not crime of the century. There were seven tiny prawns drizzled in balsamic vinegar, dry Florette salad in the centre, served with a side of sweet chilli sauce fresh from the well known brand, supermarket-bought bottle. This dish was tough and sickly. The sliced tomato in the second starter included the very end of the tomato (green stalk-bit) and was bland, dispersed amongst yet more dry Florette salad and meagre portions of sliced mozzarella. As unappetising as it all was we were hungry and kept some of the salad back to have with our mains, willing it, please, to be a better course. The mains, two sirloin steaks, arrived on the restaurant's hallmark 300 degrees centigrade lava stones, one with a portion of chips that we had ordered to share. The problem was that the steaks were not sirloin. I am no butcher, but I couldn't agree more with the review by valkjr with respect to the quality of the food. The steaks were most certainly rump cuts, at best, and they were terrible, cuts, as if they had been scraped off the floor of the abatoire. We know our steak, and for nearly £17 we were left staring at something akin to roadkill on steaming hot Interstate tarmac. I tasted a bit and that was enough. Thank goodness we didn't order the fillet. We called the friendly waitress over and we explained that whatever this was, it was not what we ordered. She seemed very shocked and started to explain that they had not had any comments before, the mantra of every terrible restaurant in history. I was able to stop her remarks and make it clear that we would not be paying for the mains, and we begrudgingly paid nearly £30 for the starts and drinks, before leaving, clothes and hair smelling of the stale smoke that billowed across the restaurant like chlorine gas across the trenches. The manager did come over as we were leaving and thanked us for our feedback. I can only hope that they take it on board...I am absolutely bewildered by the positive reviews and can only think that this restaurant was maybe decent, once. You need only look at the quality of the reviewers who have left "Terrible" review ratings to see that they are not unfair, but balanced assessments of the general experience you can expect here. The concept of the hot stone seemed good and perhaps it could be excellent. The only problem is that it is not excellent or even good. It is terrible and should be avoided at all costs. I have always wondered what it would be like to actually eat in a restaurant featured on Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, and I think this would probably fit the bill.

The plethora of negative comments sprinkled throughout Rango's TripAdvisor profile encouraged me to come on here and tell you all off.Rango's offers not only lovely service and great food but also a unique dining experience, allowing you to cook your own steak to your liking without worrying about the meat drying, burning or charring. The hot stone cooking method is one upon which my boyfriend and I have never come across previously but is one which we would encourage others to experience - especially with a Groupon voucher this is a great deal. The sides which accompany the meal are huge and we left feeling full and satisfied, as well as a bit impressed with the whole system!Contrary to the content of other reviews, the restaurant was almost full when I arrived, offering a warm atmosphere with the soft sizzle of cooking sirloin steaks - we thoroughly enjoyed it BUT one thing we will say is that the 12.5% gratuity charge which is kindly added to the bill DOES NOT go to the waiting staff! So ask to take it off and leave the tip in cash.Definitely recommend as a unique and fun dining experience :D

Rango’s revolves around a pointless concept; cooking your own steak solves a problem that doesn’t exist. It is detrimental because you’re forced to take the meat off the hot stone on to a cold, small side plate. This makes; the meat go cold, it takes away any element of presentation and makes the meat awkward to cut. Likewise the chips are served on a cold board that become unappetising very quickly, and the sauces are that of a takeaway. The steak itself has flavour, but most mouthfuls you’re battling against stringy, fatty pieces. At least the house wine was surprisingly drinkable. In regard to service, the gentleman on the telephone who took the booking was welcoming but this same enthusiasm wasn’t instilled in the young lady when we entered, little elaboration was given to the menu such as ‘Fish of the Day’ and the candle wasn’t lit which left us in a gloomy corner. On the positive, the food arrived quickly (as you’d expect being raw meat, tomato sauce and oven chips) and different lady gave a genuine goodbye. For atmosphere, Rango’s has no distinct character, a messy bar area and dated music. The walls consist of floor-to ceiling glass that offers views of nothing at all. Finally value, this was purchased on a promotional voucher that worked out at good value; despite the above criticisms it is difficult to ask for much more for the price. If you’re in the area and have a voucher, then Rango’s isn’t a bad place for a hearty lunch, but there is not the quality or atmosphere to justify a return.

Few of my friends and myself ( 6 of us), were wandering around City of London, and when hungry asked by passers, where to eat, but GOOD? Very friendly couple told us not to miss by any chance great restaurant but tacked away near the Main Post Office in Mount Pleasant. We grabbed a cab, and when asked, cabbie took us straight to the place called RANGOS. It appears, that this restaurant is well liked and known by local residents. People were getting in and out and we were afraid that as we were party of 6, wouldn't be so lucky and get in on Friday night. We were greeted by the owner himself which at the time of arrival, we did not know. We were lucky and seated at the table very quickly. We ordered tiger prawns, squid on the hot stone, mozzarella and selection of cured meat, which was delicious. For the main course we ordered fillet of beef, fillet of lamb and fillet of salmon. The whole concept for us was very new and I did know what to expect, but when we tasted first mouthful we were amazed, by the taste, the freshness and the originality of this brilliant meal. Every bite I took was special, as I could try different ways of self cooking. The wine list and the variety is unbelievable. Prizes very reasonable. Guys, I am not saying this for any other reason but I love eating and this place is definitely from now on my favorite in London. Come and try it. Staff is very friendly and professional, the owner is down to earth and friendly, and I can honestly say that all of this aspects are enough to prove and justify the price we paid. Hidden away near Farringdon, this restaurant has lovely décor with floor to ceiling bay windows giving a great sense of space. Staff were friendly and helpful and there is a good selection of wine. Steaks came on a hot stone which is useful as it allows you to have it as cooked as you prefer. My only issue was the price and the small size of the steaks. Fortunately went on a voucher so didn't feel too cheated but certainly wouldn't wish to go back and pay full price, unless the steaks were larger.

Positives: Nice waitress however that is not the reason why you go to a restaurant.Negatives: I've visited this place with friends and by the time of booking we were told we need to hurry because they will be very busy. When we arrived, the place was empty and stayed so throughout our visit. We've all ordered fillet steaks as we really enjoy this type of meat however I couldn't really describe which type of the steak it was, however not fillet for sure.As the stones are really hot - which is a good thing to cook your meat, however the place needs a ventilation system because we ended up smelling from the food - very very bad. The sauces - just lack of a good choice. Mustard, Ketchup and Mayo are rather take-away sauces and not "premium price restaurant" ones. The pricing is way over the top for no real value. We will not be as we'll rather go to Steak & Co eg.

We went here using our Taste Card, so it was fantastic value, but even without it, the price is still pretty reasonable. The location is indeed a little bleak, but put that out of your mind and you'll have a great time. Given the nature of the restaurant the menu is more limited but that's to be expected. The important thing is that food (particularly the steak) is first rate, and having not used the 'hot stone' method before my partner and I found it rather novel.Recommended, we'll be going back there

I bought a kgb voucher for dinner here so was not expecting a great experience. This was amplified by my first impression on approaching the restaurant - empty, dark and located in a deserted back street. When we arrived, there was only 1 other table occupied and they soon left. However, upon entering the restaurant, it was a lot brighter inside and we were greeted very politely and offered a nice table by the window. The décor is minimal, with very little atmosphere - almost like a cafeteria. The menu is very limited, but to be fair this is a 'hot stone' restaurant and hence the offerings reflected the nature of the cuisine. Staff were very sweet and helpful and our order was brought out fairly quickly. I was not expecting great things but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The squid and king prawn starters were both excellent and the mains of lamb and sirloin steak were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. This was helped by the DIY nature of the meal but the meats still required preparation and initial sealing on a griddle before serving on the hot stone. Both lamb and steak were tender and full of flavour. The side orders of chips were fine and there were 3 sauces served with each dish - mustard for the steak and mint sauce for the lamb, with ketchup & mayo for the chips. We had the chocolate brownie for dessert - it was served warm with a scoop of ice-cream. Very good indeed. I was not only impressed with the quality and taste of the food but also the care put into serving the dishes. The restaurant did not give the impression of a quality establishment but I rather think that they have a quality chef in the kitchen and some pretty good staff. We enjoyed our meal very much and would certainly recommend this restaurant to others.

For the money we paid it delivered far above its weight. The waiting staff (Masha) was fantastic and could not do enough for us and was supremely professional. We booked Rango's Hot Stone Kitchen after I read an article about "must try" steak restaurants in London. It was Easter weekend and a group of us agreed to have an Easter meal. We arrived at lunchtime and the restaurant was dead (no customers whatsoever). This made the atmosphere very silent and awkward. There was only one waitress (which is reasonable for a group of 7-8 guests to be fair) but we felt as though she was very cold and unwelcoming, like she begrudged us being there whilst she had to work on Easter weekend. That said, I personally was very happy with my starter (fried squid). They were also doing a seemingly reasonable lunchtime deal which included a main and a drink for £12.95. However, the steak was rather bland and many felt that the stone was more of a novelty than a necessity. A few of us agreed that we'd have tried the fillet if the atmosphere wasn't so cold (quite canteen-like as pointed-out by another reviewer). I would like to have seen this restaurant in all its glory on a busy lunchtime, but unfortunately we perhaps came at the wrong time on the wrong day and were left extremely disappointed.

I went with my wife at lunchtime last Friday. It was very disappointing. More work canteen than restuarant. Only two other people there (says a lot!) and a really bleak and isolated warehouse location. What you see in the advert is not what you get. The steak is nothing like the photo. Much thinner and bland. They wanted to charge extra for having having French mustrard instead of the English! The photo shows asparagus and what looks like a nice potatoe gratin which they don't even sell! The wine which comes with the meal is just cheap plonk and the advert says it's normally £5 a glass! You either get chips or a bit of chopped green salad with one slice of tomatoe. I can't beleive anyone would think or pay the "normal" price for this very poor establishment! The place has absolutely no atmosphere and the only redeeming part of the lunch was the very pleasant girl who served us who we tipped separately after having the "discretionary" 12.5% service removed from the bill.

We went on a Friday night and were the only customers there until another couple walked in later on. We had a Groupon voucher so overall we still got value for money but I would never recommend to anyone if paying full price. The steak was ok but the chips were oily and the salad was browning around the edges, something you would not even eat at home let alone in a restaurant. Despite the lack of customers the restaurant was extremely smoky (coming from the hot stones) which means that there is no suitable smoke extraction in the room. I can't imagine how bad it would be on a full house! We didn't stay very long after our meal as too smelly/smoky in there and wouldn't go back.

I was a week ago and the food was good, and the staff was extremely kind and friendly. The only negative aspect is that the service charge is included, and I hate that. I like to leave as much tip as I want. Besides when is included you never know if it goes to the staff or not (not saying that in this place it doesn't go, just that you don't know)

Having been a butcher for 6 years, I know a little bit about meat. In the shops I worked in, the ends of the strip of sirloin generally was minced. That is exactly what should have happened to the steaks we were served. Gristly, chewy, a poor cut.The concept of serving it on a hot stone would allow diners to cook the steak to their own liking. I love my steak VERY rare, so I was expecting to be able to have it that way. When it arrived at our table, the steak was almost well done. Disappointing. The staff seemed quite disinterested in the diners. On the whole, I'd never go there again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

I had a Wowcher deal where I came with a friend to try Rango's Hot Stone Sirloin steak. I was apprehensive due to the mixed reviews on Tripadvisor, but after trying it out for myself, my doubts are banished because our steaks were absolutely great. Service - Olga, who took my reservation online, was very efficient in responding to my emails for a reservation for 2 on a Friday night. We were served by Maria, a really friendly lady who was extremely attentive to our needs. We didn't need to wait long at all for our food / drinks / desert to be served.Food - I hate my steak overdone. So this Hot Stone method was an excellent option for me to have my steak cooked just the way I like it. Maria clearly explained how our steak would be served and advised us to check our steaks constantly (by cutting some sections to see the inside) to ensure it was cooked to our preference. I thought the chips would be soggy ( as some reviews stated) but no, they weren't soggy at all - they were nice and crispy. The best part was the steak, it was really tender and juicy and one of the better sirloins I have eaten. The steak was served on hot stone, but I asked for an extra plate so I could place the uneaten section aside to prevent the whole steak from over cooking. The steak was of a good size, plus the chips and salads, made a filling meal. Overall a pleasant & interesting dining experience, and we even left with a 50% discount voucher for our next meal. Great! Would definitely come again.

We had a Amazon half price voucher for this place which made the meal very good value. We both had a very good sirloin steak which we then cooked on the hot lava stone this was fun to do and not difficult to get right following some advice from the very pleasant waitress. I think it would be too pricey without the voucher but all in all a very pleasant and interesting experience.

Tucked away from the busy street and a good 10 minute walk from Farringdon or Chancery Lane, Rango's gave us all we needed for an intimate midweek date night. The interior is simple and classy and softly lit, encased in floor to ceiling glass all-round which offered the spaciousness which is probably taken for granted...It was understandably quiet for a Wednesday evening, which we were thankful for. Given the setting though, I imagine that not much romantic atmosphere would be lost even on a busier night. The menu is not extensive - Each category consists of about 6-8 dishes. Each dish seems to, however, effectively pack a good deal of punch. The King Prawns and Seafood Platter caught my eye under the starters, which cost £6-7 on average. We decided to leave the starters for our second visit and instead settled for the house red wine and the main course of Scotch-drenched aged (?) sirloin steaks (forgive my memory) that came with three dips i.e. ketchup, mayonnaise and a tasty horseradish/mustard seed concoction. So we didn't go academic about the back story of what we were downing.. nothing mattered when the steak came. If anything, we always appreciate a slightly dry, medium-bodied, fruity with a hint of oak glass to go with our steaks. Steaks that are, on this occasion, some of the softest, most succulent sirloins we have tried! There's also something absolutely endearing about freshly cooking our steaks over lava stones as opposed to hot plates. For some earthly reason, it felt so much more classy. We had a lovely time, and will probably be addicted to testing out steaks for months to come! Our sirloin steaks cost £16.95 a dish, not including the ~£3 choice of side dishes (chips/salad/bread). Will definitely be visiting again to try other main courses!

We went here for Valentine's Day and even though it was busy, the staff never seem flustered, were very attentive and polite. We went for the fillet steak on the hot stone and I have to say I've never had steak like it. It was beautifully soft well seasoned and you can leave it on the stone as long as you like to let it cook. I like my steak rare and I had to let it sit there for a bit as it came almost blue. The advantage of it coming on the hot stone is that you can enjoy the rest of your meal and your steak never gets cold!As some of the other reviews have said, yes the chips are not great, look like McCain oven chips but the steak definitely makes up for it. The house red wine was also lovely.

I enjoyed my visit to Tango? We arrived later, close to closing time, but the staff we friendly and welcoming. I liked the stone cooking concept, though it worked better with my wife's thicker piece of meat than mine - still I enjoyed my meal though. The interior was modern and pleasant. The wife to decent, if not rather nice. As to value for money, the voucher deal we used was just right (as would have been the mid-week lunch deal the advertised). As my title suggests I would not of liked to pay full price -though that it more a reflection of the cost of living than the goodf service of the restaurant. I would go again.

Went here in late January. A great concept where you cook the steak yourself on the 300c lava stone......but.......you don't cut meat before it's cooked. Side dish of chips was crap and the 3 sauces were poor. For those wanting a quick snippet: don't bother, even with a voucher. I can not, and will not, ever forgive a restaurant for serving awful chips. For me there is no bigger sign of laziness, and that really sums up Rango's. Cooking a steak in front of you is a nice concept, and the meat was OK, but they could have made more of the experience, rather than dumping the food and incomprehensibly telling us how to cook the steak. The sauces, too, are lazy. Poor quality ketchup, mayo and English mustard could easily be replaced with garlic butter, peppercorn sauce, bearnaise, a tomato salsa or fresh mayo. Small effort goes a long, long way.The house wine was poor and the atmosphere certainly lacking. To top it all off Christmas music came on as we were leaving (17th Jan). Laughable.I wouldn't go again, even with a voucher, and I strongly implore that you don't visit either.

We were in London and had decided to visit this restaurant and use our taste card. We eventually got a taxi to locate Rangos which is a bit tucked away. Throughout our stay we were looked after by a very polite and attentive waitress. We had prawns to start which were ok but I felt slightly overcooked. My husband chose a lovely bottle of red wine and we then ordered fillet steaks with chips. The steaks were lovely and tender and we enjoyed the experience of slicing off pieces to cook before eating. Something different for an evening out! We both missed not having a bit of fresh veg with the meal and felt the three sauces were a bit of a waste. I used the ketchup on the chips which were a bit bland (please make real chips instead of frozen) but didn't touch the mayo or English mustard. We asked for French mustard, which to us went with the steak. I had ice cream for afters and my husband had strawberry cheesecake which were both ok. All in all we had a lovely evening and would go back again next time we were in the area. Give it a try!

This was my second visit to this restaurant and, yet again, it did not disappoint. If paying full price it can be expensive (hence the 4 stars) but both times I have visited I managed to get half price offers (once through Table Pouncer and recently through the TasteCard). The food on both occassions was superb; I like the fact that I can cook my steak to my own liking and also keep the food warm! The starters have been good too, nice portion sizes and very tasty. Drinks are also expensive but again if you go between 5pm and 7pm you can have Happy Hour on cocktails which again are 2 for the price of 1.On both visits I have found the staff to be extremely friendly and tentative. They did not hang around our table or rush us and, on our first visit the manager even gave us a drink on the house! Both my visits have been with my friend but I intend to visit again next month with my Partner who I know will love this place too!

The concept of serving steak on hot stone that will cook the steak in front of your eyes is great but the reality is very different. Visual site is awesome but the steak was burning on the stone and the cuts of meat was so chewy. When we ask the staff how to know that I have steak medium done we got answer that we have to cut the steak and sear it like Chinese beef with noddles.Come oooooon you don't cut steak before it's cooked!!!No I hate chewing meat so returned my one and got another one but it was almost as bad as the first one.

First impression was this place smelt amazing due to the various hot stone cooking going on at any one time but after enjoying our own meal we can verify the food is as good as it smells. A simple steak and chips cooked perfectly was just what we wanted and the chocolate brownie dessert was delicious. The atmosphere throughout the evening was less relaxed with Leonard Cohen playing just loud enough not to be disturbing and the friendly staff alert but not intrusive. We would definitely recommend Rango's and will be back.

The waitress was rude from the start. We did not feel welcome at all. The two waitresses stood behind the counter and watched us eat... This was obviously very uncomfortable for us and felt rushed. The atmosphere reminded me of eating alone at a school canteen... The food was bland... They had clearly thrown a piece of meat on a hot stone and shoved it in front of us. The chips were supermarket oven chips fried... The portions were tiny for the chips AND the steak AND the terrible terrible wine... All in all boring food - Crappy atmosphere not helped by rude staff - waste of money and time. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!

Went to this place because a friend had a groupon. They were rude the minute we walked in the door. Decor is sparse and feels like some sort of canteen. Waitress walked up to the table and said "so, you want something?" and then informed us that we would only get one small glass of wine each with the groupon, which was fine with us but she was very confrontational about it. The wine we did get was awful and was not the house red on the menu (I formerly worked in wine and knew their house red). She measured it out into four glasses at the table and then left them there for us to pass round. The steak itself was okay. The sides are chips, salad or bread and butter, which is totally unremarkable. Chips are ones that you buy in bags at the supermarket. Salad was limp and run of the mill. Not worth the extremely discounted price we paid for an experience in a place with no atmosphere and rude staff. Won't ever be back. (I don't know if the waitress was so rude because she figured that we wouldn't tip, but in the end she was right because I won't reward such hostility in the service industry.)

We went to Rangos on a mid week voucher that included a drink, a main and a side. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly, seating us straight away and making us feel welcome. The atmosphere was very European, mainly due to the cosmopolitan air and background music. Drinks were ordered along with olives and bread for a starter. I paid an uplift to get the better steak, which was worth the investment, my wife did not. We also order a side salad, which is needed to balance out the meat and carbs in the meal. The steak was very tasty and being able to cook it my self on the hot stone added a bit of fun and control into the process. Having eaten our food we were comfortably full and left having had a pleasant night. I work in London and my wife had to travel in from Billericay, Essex, so we wouldn't normally have come to this restaurant, but having been we would certainly come back if we are out and about in London in the future.

Tried this place out as I had a living social voucher for steak, side and wine for 2. Nice friendly waitress although seemed to lack knowledge about steak and what I would consider to be typical steak type sauces such as peppercorn and Bearnaise. Which leads me to my next down fall to the place, the sauces!. The meal is sold as a steak with a selection of 3 sauces, any sides etc are an addition to the meal as are additional sauces. The sauces served with the meal were ketchup, mayonnaise and English mustard! A very odd combination to accompany a steak in a steak restaurant and they seemed to come straight from the Heinz jars. Decided to add additional sauces from the menu to our order (most of which listed on the menu where typically suited for the salmon or lamb) the only real typical steak sauce available was the peppercorn and mushroom, which they didnt have avaliable. For the sides we decided to go for the chips which could have been allot better maybe homemade or something rather than the what would seem to be shop bought oven chips, with the portion size much to be desired probably not much more than a dozen chips(glad I wasnt paying there full price as this would have cost £3.50 according to the menu). The steak was nice though and the concept of finishing your steak off on your own stone plate is a good one, just a shame the rest of the meal let it down. Even with the voucher I dont think it was good value.

The concept of cooking the steak on a slate stone is really fun. If you like your steak really over done then this might not be the best place for you. However, for everyone else this is a great experience. Cook your steak to your liking on the stone and enjoy the 3 different dips. The sirloins were a tiny bit on the fatty side but for the price, this was excellent value. If you're not sure on how to cook a steak (!), the staff ask you how well cooked you usually eat your steak and then advise on cooking timings on the stone.Definitely would return.

Very poor.We had a group on deal for 18, with 6 wines tasters each, it was pretty average and slightly off tiring that the waitress came to out table in each pouring with a spirit measurer to pour the wine into the glass (I kid you not). The location is very secluded and I can only imagine they won't accrue much buisiness once the wowcher and groupon deals expire. On the whole... We got a wowcher for £14 with the perceived value of £44. This is a review of the bar not in the restaurant downstairs. The staff was friendly but unfortunately this is the only good feedback I can give about the place. The bar and the atmosphere: The room is very cluttered with too many paintings right from the 1980 everywhere. Next to the bar there is a large bowl filled with glasses surrounded with more glasses. Additionally there are test tubes in the bowl next to large rack of more test-tubes. Next to the bar is a chester drawer filled with tacky plastic flowers and a random sign. The atmospher is not great but at least the bar is clean. We had 4 cocktails. The cocktails normal price was £8 per cocktail. I don’t think this is a fair price for the drinks as it is not a very nice bar. I would be happy to pay that price if the bar had a nice atmosphere. We also got a platter. The platters normal price was £12. The patter consisted of 4 bread sticks, half of celery chopped up to tiny little pieces, one carrot chopped to tiny pieces and a portion of humus. I would not call that a platter. The drinks and the platter were overpriced and I would not recommend anyone going there after work for a relaxing drink.

Staff are very polite and friendly and offer good customer service. I had a good time at this place. My only concern being: I am not sure how well the food is cooking on a hot stone as I don't think it's hot enough and I would prefer if some of the good was pre-cooked on a grill for a few seconds prior to having it served on the table. I had squid and was concerned it wasn't cooked enough when eating it. Other than that, I loved the rest of the food.

We had a Wowcher for a deal here. It is tucked away and quite difficult to find, and when we were approaching it looked closed. However it was open although there were only 2 other people in there at the time. The welcome was extremely friendly and the waitress was also lovely. We were able to choose any table we wanted (logical given how empty it was but it is amazing how often this doesn’t happen in restaurants and customers are put on tables extremely close to each other) so chose to sat by the window which was nice although there is not much of view! Service was very friendly and the waitress explained what the deal was (again, having bought quite a few Wowchers for meals this sort of helpfulness is not a given) and how the restaurant worked. The starters (hummus and prawns) were perfectly adequate without being amazing. The sirloin steak was fine although quite fatty. I think the fact that it is served raw just highlights this and I saw another couple complaining that they couldn’t eat it. I am not sure what alternative they were offered (if any) as there wasn’t a huge amount of choice. However, once the excess fat was removed the steak was very tasty and it is novel and interesting to cook it yourself, as such it was cooked just right for me! This concept does mean the restaurant is quite hot and smoky but not unpleasantly so. The chips were nice and the salad ok but basic. The 3 “sauces” of mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise are what you would expect for free on the table and the fact that they charge £1.50 for any sort of actual steak sauce is a bit of a joke. We had the cheese plate to share at the end, this is £10.55 and doesn’t state it is for 2 people but the quantity of cheese is ample for 2. To drink we had a free cocktail which was small and very sweet but ok and a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was very nice but at £18.50 slightly expensive for PG. without the Wowcher this would have been an expensive meal (the sirloin was £16.95 and sides were extra!). Overall this was a good, unusual experience and I hope the restaurant does well although it can’t be easy given the hidden location.

Unfortunately this restaurant was a disappointment. The meat (Sirloin steak) was hard to eat and chewy. Not so much food too and since we don't like french fries we had no other options as for something to accompany the meat. Would have liked to be able to choose something like cooked potatoes, rice or baked potatoes. So we took bread and butter and it was a simple white bread and some margarine (doubt it to be real butter). Actually we wanted the olives and bread but they didn't have any olives this night. We ordered a side sallad and the vegetables looked like they had been sitting in the fridge for a few days too long to be considered fresh. Not the best sallad! The sauces that came with the meat were just simple ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise – very simple and boring and uninspiring. The total bill (including tips) for two persons was a hundred pounds and it was for two main courses with bread and some beer and wine with the food (and ice cream for two). Way too expensive for a meal that could be considered medium at best. We left disappointed and will never come back. Can't recommend this place to anyone.

It was a romantic dinner on friday night and the restaurant was quite nice for the purpose, live music made the night very special. Nice and polite waiters and the food was nice, and unusual, steak on hot stone-perfect, meet was good and seafood platter as well.I was pleased with the quality of wine, and it wasn't expensive. It was a very good night out

Service was attentive without being over the top. If you like the concept of cooking your own steak that your paying for then this is for you. We had a wowcher. I had a tomato and mozzarella starter that was completely void of any flavour...COMPLETELY. Partner had king prawns which were way to over cooked as they were chewy. Steaks were bad cuts and cheap, same as you get from most supermarkets. You get chips (not many) and cheap nasty dipping sauces. Drinks are small unless you order a bottle of something. Cocktails were ok but a little too sweet for some reason??

My partner and I went to Rango's last Friday having purchased a voucher on Amazon (steak, side and glass of wine each). The steak itself wasn't too bad, a little on the small side but quite tasty. The chips however were revolting, very stale and hard with not much taste at all. The steak meal was supposed to come with three sauces, however I wouldn't call ketchup and mayonnaise a sauce as far as steaks go. The house red wine was nice, and came in a good measure (225ml) and the service was very good, although we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time so I would have expected nothing less! Overall a very average experience, and fairly good value seeing as the 2 meals only came to £24.

We booked this restaurant as we had a voucher that made the overall night seem like great value for money, and we thought it sounded like a novel idea. However, it was quite a let down, and without the voucher would have been over expensive. The steak itself was a very cheap cut of meat - I doubt a proper sirloin cut - it was very chewy and fatty and tough to eat. I love my steak, and will happily chomp away, but this was not the best considering the price they charge. The side portion of chips were very greasey and were only cheap frozen chips - considering they should have cost £3.50 this was a let down. You get three sauces with your dinner, if you want a different sauce it costs an extra £1.50! The ketchup they serve is so cheap and foul tasting, it was worse than a late night kebab shop, and the mayo had a bit of a crust on it. Also, because you cook your steak on a lava stone, which is a great idea, the restaurant gets very smokey. We came out feeling like we'd been to a BBQ, and our clothes/hair etc stank - certainly not good if you'd got dressed up! Overall, I think Rango need to improve their basic food quality to make this restuarant appealing and a viable contender as an eatery.

At first the thought of cooking your own tea & paying for it i thought was ridiculous, however the hot stone was fascinating, cook your steak fresh & hot as you want whilst supping wine fantastic idea!!!However you get 3 sauces with your meal, we asked if we could change one but they said there would be an extra charge for this which i thought was disgraceful!!!Reasonably priced as we had a groupon deal, bottle of wine was around £18, we had a free cocktail in the bar downstairs, there was a live singer which was quite good. The service was questionable as they were slow & unhelpful, however the guy serving in the Bar downstairs was the opposite!

We bought a groupon voucher because we were travelling to London for a weekend away and had no expereinece of this restaurant before. We liked the idea of the steak on the hot stone and walked from Euston to the restaurant in Mount Pleasant for an early evening meal before going on elsewhere. The restaurant was quiet - it was only 6pm - but soon filled up with what seemed like locals. The menu is very clear and what to order is easily decided once you know that everything is cooked on the hot stone. We ordered Fillet steak which had a supplement on top of the groupon voucher and lamb steak intending to go halves!Starters were quite large and enough. Well presented and tasty we were pleased with our choices. We also had wine which was our favourite. The main courses come out on hot larva stone and we cooked them ourselves with a selection of mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup which we felt were unnecessary as the steak was tasty enough without it. You also get chips and salad with each main course. The lamb steak was also very tender and tasty. Certainly no wastage from either! The Gourpon voucher also included a free cocktail which we went downstairs to the Blue Bar for and the barman down there was very friendly and welcoming. We didnt stay long as had other arrangements but if we hadnt had plans we could well have stayed all night at this newly openedn bar. Very nice place to chill out and relax andthe staff are all very friendly.I hope this place is successful , would definitely go back and definitely recommend it to anyone that likes meat.

After a promising starter (squid steak on the hot stone), we were looking forward to a main dish of sirloin steak on the stone. This is what we were given: (see photo - pictured here after I had taken a bite out of it). In addition to looking totally different to a sirloin cut, these steaks were chewy and extremely disappointing. When we told the waitress that we didn't believe we'd been served what we'd ordered, she went away apparently to check, and returned to inform us that there had been "a mistake" in the kitchen and admit that these were in fact chuck-eye steaks (normally served as part of the lunchtime menu and a far cheaper cut than sirloin). In compensation for this we were offered "something complimentary, e.g. dessert" (we had already been served all the wine we would need to accompany the meagre meal, and would likely not order anything more.) After a quick look at the dessert menu and photographs on the restaurant website showing what appear to be bought-in, mass-produced cheesecake slices and brownies, we declined the offer of a complimentary dessert. When the bill arrived, the price difference between the sirloin and the chuck-eye had been deducted.I can only speculate as whether the supposed "mistake" was indeed accidental or whether they were intentionally trying to get away with charging a premium price while substituting cheap steaks. I do wonder whether the inverse of the mistake has ever occurred at this place and somebody's been given a sirloin instead of a chuck-eye... Somehow I doubt it. Either way, it should not be the responsibility the customer to identify specific cuts of beef to ensure that they are served and charged correctly. Because of this, based on my experience, I must post a negative rating and can not recommend Rango's at all.

Tuli syötyä perinteinen leivitetty turska ja perunat. Vallan maistuva annos. Pepperonipitsassa oli kuulemma liikaa juustoa. Kohtuulliset hinnat ja hyvä palvelu.

A very welcome lunch stop. We were thoroughly enjoying a walk in the Olympic Park, but feeling peckish. OK it was lunchtime, but I fancied the breakfast in a box. Which was warmed up for me. Back home (150 miles to the north), it would not have rated very highly. But in London I wanted something not vegetarian, and it rang my bell. There was the bacon, tasty sausage, beans, tomatoes, something potatoey, what was once egg and some green stuff (?) But it was warm enough, tasty, filling, and actually I quite enjoyed it. As, and when, we return for another walk I would probably choose it again. Incidentally the staff we friendly and helpful. The place was clean and tidy.

Statene lontani.
