Decided to treat our daughter & partner for their anniversary . Well they are completely disappointed. Their 1st anniversary … service absolutely rubbish & food under cooked. Shocking!! Definitely won’t be returning or recommending.

We all had a wonderful evening at Rancho steak house Fareham. We ordered a mix combination for all of us, Trio Rancho, A giant T bone , chicken and ribs all cooked to the perfection. Hats off to the chef. Service was very food too....

I had the ribs which are ment to be there go too but they where extremely dry and greasy and not to the standard of bbq ribs. The service was poor, had to ask a few times about sauces and we also had to get our pints topped up as they had huge heads on them. My other half had chicken which was also dry and they both came with a “side salad” which was just lettuce on the side (not what I would describe as a salad). Would not recommend and will not be going back, a waste of £50 for two people.

Food and service was lovely! My personal favourite is the lamb chops cooked to perfection melted in my mouth! The Belgium waffles were amazing topped with luxurious chocolate sauce! Higly recommend to everyone! See you soon :)

Went on a date with my wife, ordered Calamari as starters and Argentinian Rib-eye steak for my main. Calamari’s batter was nice and crispy and the meat of it was tender and fresh. The steak was so tender and grilled to perfection for Medium Rare as that’s how i like my steak. Overall great experience and brilliant service, well-deserved 10% service charge.

A birthday celebration in the Covid-19 world was always going to be different. I decided to forego the treat of a celebratory meal out for the treat of a takeaway at home with my family. Ranchos had been a favourite place to visit in the past and when I discovered that they were offering a take away service I felt that this would be an enjoyable change from the usual fabulous weekend go to Chinese we have from Kung-Fu Wok, Rowner Road, Gosport. How I wish I had stuck with what I know and love!Our Ranchos order was placed, delivery was expected at 7.00pm. The time came and went with no sign of our food. At 7.15pm we called the restaurant and were initially informed that all of the orders had left the restaurant and it was now in the hands of Just Eat. The restaurant were unable to tell us if our order had gone with Just Eat or not. We waited and were eventually able to track our food as it headed our way. At 7.41pm it arrived. The delivery driver handed over the meal, the brown paper back ripped and food spilled onto the hall carpet. After retrieval we took the bags to the kitchen to serve up one of the most disappointing meals we had ever had. Two starters of prawns were cold. Whilst I am happy to eat cold prawns my expectation was that these would be hot and full of flavour. They were neither. My son had calamari which he particularly enjoys with a crispy batter. He was quite surprised by the calamari in undercooked dough that he received. With a heavy heart we moved on to the main courses. My daughter's burger was cold. Our steaks were cold. Our chips had rigor mortis. The 'highlight' of the meal was my son's pudding. When we made our menu choices earlier in the week I asked my children if they would like a pudding. My son chose a sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream, my daughter asked, "Can we get something nice from Marks and Spencers?" Fortunately I did as she asked. The sticky toffee pudding was cold and unsurprisingly the ice-cream was warm. At least something in this meal was. I can't begin to imagine the difficulty of delivering ice-cream however my gut feel is that an ice block, or similar cold source, may need to be utilised! Whilst I was hoping for a relaxing evening of good food and wine, great company with the backdrop of my favourite music, I was instead exposed to great company with the backdrop of the microwave warming up each individual meal. My mum who had ordered the meal was clearly disappointed and called the restaurant. WOW! What a barrage of abuse she received. After stating that the food we had received was late and cold she was told that it was the fault of Just Eat. The unpleasant man on the end of the phone, who incidentally does not understand how such a device works as he felt the need to shout to the point where my family were able to hear him (he was not on speakerphone!) asked, "Why are you being so ridiculous? I don't want to shout because I am in the restaurant!" Does he usually ask customers to 'step outside' if they have a complaint?I appreciate that the delivery of cold prawns and steak along with warm ice-cream and poor customer service is a first world issue. However after paying over £100 pounds for such inedible food, accompanied by shocking customer service I felt the need to ventilate! Stick to what you know will be my mantra for the next year when I may dare to be adventurous and order something wild!

Went for a family meal outside of the 50% off deal so was quite expensive, 10% service charge levied automatically on the bill which was poor as service was terrible. Waitresses having to deal with the managers inability to speak nicely and professionally, he made us feel awkward for them, at one point he ridiculed her so bad I was going to standup and say something to him. Food average but ok, charged £2 for two small dishes of tomato ketchup, that was a first!

Poor from the start, very rushed waitresses who are very loud, direct and impolite. Food quality was poor. Very tough ribs that are grilled, small not quality. Food quality in general is poor, frozen chips, burger and buns like something from a burger van. Salad is just lettuce with brown bits, nothing else! Charged extra for any sides and sauces too! Menus are flimsy, falling apart. Wetherspoons is better. It doesn’t even have a license either.

Booked a table on Wednesday 19th August lunch time. Firstly no bar had to go next door to newsagents to purchase a drink. Next was given main menu, when I asked for lunchtime menu was informed because of the government scheme this was not available. When we worked out the cost based on the main menu we would have ended up paying more for the meal than the cost of the lunchtime menu without any discount. This defeats the object of the scheme and Ranchos were in fact making money on it. It never came to this as we were informed along with other diners that the gas was off and they could not cook any meals. What a let down from start to finish.Beware don’t go lunch times expecting the lunch time menu and the discount, you will be forced to pay main menu prices for the same meal so end up saving nothing.

Heard good things. Thought we would give it a go on the Wednesday night during the eat out to help out promo. Wednesday are an all you can eat rib night.Opted for the unlimited ribs to be told they are not included in the EOTHO scheme. Found this odd as the government's advice said the EOTHO scheme can be used ALONGSIDE all other promotions. Ranchos are still getting the full price for the meal in the end but chose not to include. I wouldn't have minded if they had told me this when they emailed (in advance of my booking) to say they dont have a alcohol licence but to feel free to bring my own beers etc. If id of known in advance, I would have cancelled my booking.In the end I had mixed grill. Luckily I only paid 50% of the full price as that's all it was worth. To be fair, I've had better steak in wetherspoons at half the price again!Will not be returning.

Decided on a date night at Ranchos in Fareham and after trying to book a table at many other establishments we managed to get a table for 19:45 (alarm bells should have been ringing) as literally everywhere else was fully booked. Ranchos was in my opinion the best place to get steak and i'd never had a bad experience the few times I'd been before. This was all about to change!!! The darling wife had informed me just before our date that she'd received an email to say that they'd lost their alcohol license so we would have to take our own (again those pesky alarm bells that i ignored)We arrived at 19:40 for our prebooked slot and wasn't even seated till closer to 8pm. There were no glasses or water on the table to be able to pour the wine that we took with us, and I had to wave a waiter down after 20 minutes to even get those. 20:30 we eventually had our order taken (45 min after booking time). I still had hope as I know how good the food can be, that hope soon faded when a table of four that sat down half hour after us were getting their starters (after an altercation with the manager seemed to hurry their order through). The whole experience was evidently becoming more of a shambles as other tables were getting restless and we even shared our frustrations with the friendly couple dining (or not in this case) next to us. Allegedly Ranchos were allowing people without pre booking to filter in as well. I've never in my many years of dining been so outraged by the lack of management at a restaurant, it was absolute chaos. We walked out at 21:15, a full hour and a half after booking without seeing a scrap of food. It saddens me to write this as it was my go to place, never again!!!! A positive end to our date night though consisted of a mcdonalds down the beach.

We had to wait half an hour to be seated after our 7:45 booking. Upon being seated we were immediately asked what we wanted to order when we had barely sat down. So then because we weren’t ready we had to wait another 30 minutes. Then we ordered starters and mains - these then took over an hour and when we asked where they were (because tables around us were getting their meals, we were told that the starters had taken so long because of the empendads. However we had not be made aware that they took longer too cook) so they eventually arrived swimming in oil, with underwhelming calamari and crap nachos and dangerously undercooked Gambas. So at that point we decided to leave without paying and skipping the ordeal that would have been the mains we ordered. The manager attempted a half hearted apology but they were ridiculously overworked and had no excuse for the service, wait time or quality of the food. I would not recommend. Even with the half price option now. The place is a joke!

I can’t stress enough how bad this place is to visit, off the bat we were seated half an hour after our booking after waiting outside and being told to come in by a wave. (Also 8 people waiting outside to be seated late) After that not ten seconds after we sat down hadn’t even looked a menu we were asked what our order was. It then took over an hour to get out starters and that point we walked out, we had to ask for our started four times, I wouldn’t recommend in the slightest an absolute joke of an establishment with rude staff, the manager couldn’t care less, to top it off we noticed two tables walk out and another 5 complaining. Will never recommend or visit again.

We booked for a table of 3 the night before we intended to visit. On the morning of the visit I received an email confirming our reservation, but stating that they don't have a licence to sell alcohol but that we can take our, which wasn't a problem. Our booking was for 19.45. We arrived shortly before that and had to queue outside, this wasn't a problem considering the social distancing measures that are in place at the moment. We got seated close to the bar around 10 minutes after the time of our booking. We had our own drinks, but wanted a lemonade for one of our party. After this it all went downhill. It took around 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order. While waiting for our starters, some customers came in and told the manager that people were getting irate waiting outside, the manager told them that they had stopped taking bookings a week ago. This was a lie because we had only booked our table the evening before. After 45 minutes one of the staff asked if we had had our starters which we hadn't. Eventually they came with apologies for keeping us waiting. The starters were OK. We had to wait another 30 minutes for our mains. Mine was a steak which I had requested as medium rare, but was over cooked, unseasoned and hadn't been left to rest. Another of our party had the 3 steak menu. This was requested to be cooked medium, but came very rare. We were told our side orders were coming. They were, but 5 minutes later. While we were eating our meal, another party of four people stormed out because of the poor service. The third member of our party had a burger, and she said the onion rings were the best thing about her meal, which says it all. We took the rare steak home for the dog, and we weren't charged for it. We were also offered dessert on the house, but we just wanted to leave. A very poor dining experience.

First time I’ve ever written a bad review. I feel like I had to write this to warn people of how unclean this is, no social distancing, menus I saw moved from one table to the next, no cleaning of anything shared. Waited two hours for food and a table near us did walk out due to the time and one of the waiters answering rudely back. The waitress we had was lovely and understanding. She explained the management were shouting at her as well as the chefs. From who I thought was the manager was shouting at the staff at the front. None of the staffs fault down to poor management. Shocked to see how a place can pack in so many people like that with such poor hygiene. Won’t be returning.

First time visiting Rancho Steak House. Had heard some good reviews from friends, so decided to give it a whirl.Friendly, attentive staff and pleasant decor.Prices are high - so expect to pay that little bit more than normal!! We both chose fillet steak with 2 sides plus sauce, which was approx £33 each.. The steak was so worth it! So mouth watering, juicy and melt in your mouth without effort!I'd definitely say its worth a visit, great for a special occasion or if you enjoy a fantastic steak!The venue was not selling alcoholic beverages when we visited so best to check if you like a glass of vino with your meal, I know I do! .. (soon they will be able to they informed us) but we were able to bring our own (which made the meal in total cheaper & still very enjoyable)

Went for the ribs, the food was great but there appeared to be no real consideration for Covid-19 restrictions at all. There was tape on the door handle but it wasn't replaced after we touched it. There was no hand sanitiser offered, the menus were the standard ones, used for some time and were placed on the side plates. There were no face coverings on the staff, who to be fair, were really friendly and helpful. The cruet set was already on the table, as was the cutlery.... basically all measures for safety that we have experienced in other restaurants seem to be ignored by Rancho's. Of course, I am no expert, just a diner, but I have felt more protected against the dreaded virus in other establishments.

I had the ribs and credit where due the meat was great. However we also got garlic bread x 2 and also a steak ciabatta. The steak ciabatta was in a petit pain sort of bread and was tiny. It was clearly a part baked roll, it wasnt cooked it was a doughy mess. The garlic bread is processed slices of garlic bread. Also was not cooked properly. overall really disappointed as my meal was great, my partners however was terrible.

We went with 2 friends for a Friday lunchtime meal to celebrate my birthday. We were all a bit nervous having read some of the previous reviews. We were warned when booking that we needed to take our own alcohol which we were happy to do.When we arrived we were the only four people eating in the restaurant which spoiled the atmosphere a little bit but we could not fault our welcome, the attitude of the staff and the meal. The staff took our order and provided the extra ice we had requested - they were charming and attentive. When our meal arrived it was just as we had ordered, the steaks were delicious and the accompaniments were hot and tasty. The steaks are a little expensive compared with other restaurants around here but we couldn’t fault our experience and only hope that Rancho’s survives the present virus crisis. Thank you to the staff for a very pleasant experience.

As a couple we fancied steak. Normally we would go to Miller and Carter in Bursledon but they were fully booked so Ranchos as a change. The steaks were average. I choose salad to go with mine, even though you had salad with it already. Why didn’t the waitress suggest that?! Peppercorn sauce, clearly was a packet but edible. Gamba prawns were a bit slimy. We were in and out in the hour. Staff were average, but there were only about 6 tables so no reason not to go over and above. The dessert menus were just handed to us. The waitress said nothing. Overall average. But for the same price Miller and Carter are easily 10times better!

Had steak a few times here now, they do a good job cooking a nice meal. Each visit the wait staff have left a bit to be desired in terms of getting the order right, or just being a bit stand offish. Would recommend because the food is satisfactory.

2 of us from work went at 5pm when it opened and opted for the 'all you can eat ribs'. within 30mins of leaving both of us were very ill. i was being sick from 7pm until 1.30am, i'm never going here again! wish id checked the FSA hygiene rating first, now knowing its a 1 i would never have gone

Not sure what has happened to this restaurant. We have dined here many times since it opened to save travelling to the Southsea one which was always a firm fav. We dined on an early Saturday lunch so not a busy period but we were the only sitting and I can perhaps see why based on the other reviews below that word must be getting around. When we arrived we were told about the no alcohol licence but could go to the shop to BYO. Luckily, we were all doing dry January (and 2 children) otherwise our table of 6 would have left and dined elsewhere. I don’t expect to pop into a local newsagents for wine at a steakhouse thanks. I can not fault our waitress, she was attentive as you’d expect, checked all was ok; which is was. We were happy with our food and it was tasty. Served in good time. You can see something underlying must be an issue. Menus are tired, these don’t cost a lot to replace. The mocktail, soft drinks menu is printed on paper and obviously gets wet and crumpled - reprint them regularly? As much as I would like to support a local business it seems until basic issues are attended to, I would be hesitant returning especially until an alcohol licence is reissued.

Group of 9 booked for a thursday night following being let down by a nearby restaurant who had double booked.They left a voicemail on the day of eating saying they dont have a drinks licence and to bring our own. Not too much of an issue but should have started the alarm bells.Every single steak incredibly overcooked and not rested at all. Massive delay between starter and main, in an empty restaurant. Ordered a jacket potato which never arrived and was then questioned "are you sure you haven't had it" like someone had stolen it. Last time I ate here, at least the food was good, now it's just awful, food and service terrible. Staff themselves were accommodating but overall the experience needs to be chalked up as "never again"

Visited with a group of friends from work. Just beware, there is still currently no drinks license, and you may want to check the FSA Hygiene rating before making a booking. We didnt and 5 out of 6 of our group were suffering afterwards. The actual meal appeared to be ok, and service from our waitress was all good. Shame that the kitchens seem to not be up to scratch, most of us had a not very pleasant weekend, and 2 of us were still too bad for work on the Monday.

Lovely food great service, currently they have no drinks licence so if you want alcoholic drinks you can take your own and th hey supply your glass etc.I had a mixed grill which was all very good apart from a slightly overcooked sausage edible but tough crispy skin. The rest was fantastic. Careful with the bill if you like me are a tipper as they akready would have added a 10% service charge to the bill automatically. Don't like this, I guess the staff have to hope that the company passes this to them but after that Italian chain 'Ask' got caught taking a big cut themselves from this I am always a bit sceptical and like to thank staff directly with cash for their tip tin.

We went for my wife's work Christmas meal, I'd heard good things about Ranchos and was looking forward to it.However, the manager needs to sort out his people skills, as he likes to argue, snatches your bank card from you and then accuses you of not wanting to pay! Additionally, he needs to learn how to use a calculator, that the customer should come first, and it is them that keeps him in business. I believe this is the first restaurant I have been to in these modern times and worldwide, where the manager didn't get it that people like to pay separate (cash or card) for the items they had. Pity about this, as the food was okay and I would probably have gone back but arguing over the bill for 30 mins was enough for me!It begrudges me I must give this place a rating of ONE overall as I had to select something!Top Tip: Don't go, it was not a nice experience and the evening was spoilt by this rude individual!

A group of us from work went to Ranchos Fareham as a Christmas outing. What can I say about the experience other than NEVER AGAIN will I use this restaurant.I have eaten here several time since it opened and have always had excellent food and great service but last night it was ruined by the awful manager, there were 13 in our group and we all agree. The food was ok but certainly not as good as it used to be. Also, they waited until the day to call us to say they did not have a licence and we had to bring our own drinks.But the real issue came when it was time to pay. We all wanted to pay for our own meals by card something we have done in numerous restaurants however the manager wanted one of us to pay the whole bill. He argued and made it as difficult as possible to sort things out. I tried to pay several times and he just would not let me I asked him how much my bill was (one T bone and one ribs) but he just would not tell me so I made a guess from what I could remember from the menu and finally managed to pay that. Our friends, my husband and I have all been eating out as a foursome very regularly for 32 years since we were all married. We enjoy fabulous food and wonderful service and have eaten all over the world. We have eaten at Ranchos Fareham on several occasions together and on many occasions independently with our families. Previously we have had no issues at all. We decided to meet at the restaurant to celebrate our dear friends becoming new grandparents. They arrived first, and were ignored by the manager at the reception bar area, who walked past them into another room. Our friends noticed that none of the staff were smiling or happy on this occasion. We arrived shortly after, and were told on arrival that there was no alcohol being served as they had had an issue with the alcohol licence for a couple of days, but that we could go out and get some. Our husbands went to the nearby convenience store to buy wine and beer. The store keeper said that there had been no alcohol licence for over five weeks, not two days! They had had our reservation for over two weeks, and no one had told us about the issue with their licence before, which would have been common courtesy, in my opinion. We ordered our food after quite a wait, as they were busy. It took a long time to arrive. My husband and I had both ordered fillet steaks; one rare and one medium rare, and our friends had a rare sliced steak dish and a chicken dish. My rare fillet steak was stone cold, as was the rare sliced steak dish. My husbands steak was piping hot. The side dishes were slow to arrive and they missed my husbands two dishes . We had to return the two cold steaks, and wait for the sides. The missing mashed potato and onion rings actually arrived after the replacement steaks. Fillet steaks are usually amazingly tasty and fat free, but on this occasion both of the fillets had fat in them, and without any”wow” flavour, which was very disappointing. It was a very disjointed meal for us all, as we all seemed to eat at different times. I had eaten my mashed potato and onion rings before my replacement steak arrived, as I was so hungry at that point. My husband had a sticky toffee pudding and enjoyed it, while I had a chilled lemon tart, which I tried and had to leave.The lemon filling would have been fine but the pastry base was totally soggy, and being chilled made it really unpleasant. The staff tried very hard, in what was an obviously very difficult shift. We don’t know what the problem was, but they looked really overstretched and very unhappy, even on our arrival. Even an adjacent table noticed something was amiss. There was a large birthday party in the restaurant, and we believe our food orders weren’t prioritised in favour of serving the larger party first. When our bill arrived, my friend very politely asked for the bill to be returned to us less the added 10% service charge. The manager promptly arrived and asked why we wanted this. We explained about the cold steaks and the returned dessert, Having checked, he returned and quite unbelievably, started to argue with us all. He told me that the lemon tart was exactly the way they always served it. Unfortunately, I am not partial to soggy pastry. The steaks, he told us, are to be expected to be cold if you order rare cuts. We have never had this before, but given that we have only been eating out for 32 years, what could we possibly know?. He was adamant he would not reduce the bill, telling us he was not charging us corkage. Given that they had not told us they had no licence, we had no option but to get our own alcohol, as the majority of the other diners did. Their staff had actually instructed us to go out to get alcohol, and had not mentioned any corkage charge first.In the circumstances, we felt it was reasonable to ask to remove the charge for the lemon tart and service. We did not expect any concessions and asked for nothing in respect of our very messed up meals. The manager chose to spend over five minutes arguing loudly with us, in the middle of the restaurant, embarrassing us all. He was quite adamant about the bill and only grudgingly removed the disputed charge. He could not have been any more rude towards us if he had tried. It totally ruined the evening for us, and completely obscured any celebration for our friends, the new grandparents. It is quite obvious that the manager does not value his customers, if our experience is the standard at this place. Before we left, our lovely waitress returned to apologise to us. The problems weren’t her fault, and we made sure to reassure her, and to tell her colleagues the same.Everyone, has an off day, and people do make mistakes, because we’re all human. What matters is how you handle it and how you treat people - kindness and good manners speak volumes. Good management in the hospitality industry is paramount. Handled well, the situation could have been rectified completely and would have ensured our return. We had been hoping for a lovely evening celebrating the little new arrival with our lovely friends. Instead, our experience tonight left us feeling very upset and embarrassed. I am left wondering if perhaps there is more going on at Rancho Fareham than just a missing alcohol licence. I really do hope the manager treats the staff with more respect and kindness than we were shown tonight.

We have been going to this restaurant since it has opened, The food has been going down hill slightly and the service has been a bit hit or miss at times! Nw they have not got their alcohol license which is okay for who ever drives but you do like a drink with your meal, I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Visited on a not very busy Sunday evening. Ordered a starter and 3 mains. Waited over 30 mins. Mains came and they forgot the starter. Food was ok, ribs were not very tender and they didn't have much of a coating. Once we had finished, the waitress seemed perturbed that we only ordered 1 dessert, she was obviously on commission. When the bill came , they had charged us full price for my daughter's ribs, the ribs come as 2 racks but we asked for a smaller portion of only 1 rack, the waitress said that this was ok. When I queried why they had charged full price, the manager was unwavering initially, but eventually he begrudgingly reduced the bill.We won't be going back, or recommending Ranchos to friends.

I have support Ranchos since they opened and last visited in September 2019, but what has happened since then?I went last night 17/10 with my old friend and we were so disappointed!First as we were being seated we were told they could not serve any alcohol due to a lapsed licence but we could nip next door to the convenience store and drink our own......why was this pointed out at the time of booking?Secondly the sirloin steak had all of the fat trimmed off after the menu clearly advertises a cut of beef with a strip of fat!And finally the steaks we did order the cooking was reversed, we did discuss this with our server and they did offer to sort it but we did not to wait so just ate the steaks!I have never had to complain a bout Ranchos but last night was such a disappointment Hope you get your licence sorted soon!

So... booked the private room for half eight for a party of seven. Were absolutely gutted that table had been given to someone else. After a free drinks bill we forgave the staff for their mistake and the food more than made up for it! Following our order being placed waited what seemed ages for our meals, 50 mins after sitting down, and venue not busy. Steaks mixed up when delivered, but we’re all tasty and well cooked, no check made if meals ok, we had to swap our own meals around. Desserts disappointing, lemon sauce applied to a white choc and raspberry cheesecake as they had run out of the correct sauce, bit of an effort to get replaced.

All 4 members of out family had a steak, rib eye, fillet and rump. They were all cooked to perfection. We would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. The decor is eye-catching and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient and we had chat with the owner /head chef who is more than happy to spend time talking with customers. In Fareham shopping (!) & decided to have a late lunch. Only a 4-some just leaving in there so we had personal service from a very attentive waitress. My wife had a fillet steak exactly as she likes - 'cremated' but still tender & tasty; I had the fish 'Zaruela' which was delicious; both cooked to order but we weren't hurrying, and enjoying glass of Merlot.. Definitely on our 'go again' list.

First time going for a friends birthday , ordered steak medium rare. As a steakhouse I would of thought they woeful know how to cook a steak !! Had to send it back twice aswell so did two others who were with me as it was cooked well done . Waiters didn’t know any information when asked . Napkins had holes in and very Tatty . Could see the cooks getting angry . Was charged a service tip but I don’t know what device there was . Peppercorn sauce was like water . Wouldn’t go again what a load of rubbish

Visited with my boyfriend for a treat. The food was really tasty. The only thing I would say is that the salad looked brown and limp on the plate - possibly under the heat lamp for too long. We also had to chase up a missing side and our bill but we weren’t really in too much of a hurry to worry about that.

We ate here on a Saturday evening, it was busy and bustling. We were served drinks promptly and ordered a main course, I had rump steak and my husband had the mixed sea food in spicy sauce dish. My steak looked appetising but was a little too rare In the middle for me, too late to send it back. My husband’s sea food arrive in a liquid sauce which he declared was tasty but some of the fish had the skins on which were rather slimy! We mentioned it to the waiter who obviously reported it to the kitchen. The head waiter came over and apologised but this was the way the chef prepared it. To us fish skins should either be fried until crispy or taken off. We didn’t expect a drink on the house but it was given asa goodwill gesture. This restaurant has a friendly ambience and we would visit again.

Had a really enjoyable meal here. I had the steak and ribs combo and my partner had the blue cheese burger. Both meals were excellent, my steak was amazing and the rack of ribs were generously sized. The burger was a really decent minced beef burger and the presentation of both meals was excellent. The prices are very reasonable perhaps underpriced for the quality and quantity in the customer favour. Staff were lovely and attentive without being imposing. We visited on a Sunday lunch time as a party of three. There were only eight other people in the restaurant. Service was very good and the menu offered alternative choices. My husband had barbequed ribs, my son had the shrimp cocktail and I had calamari as a starter. All very much enjoyed. For the main course my husband had the New York steak, my son a 400g rump and I decided to try (and share with my family) the 450g steak in a Rancho sauce. I managed to eat half of it and divvied the rest between my husband and son, they both enjoyed their steaks and mine. Our only criticism is that the steaks get cool quite quickly (especially mine which was served already sliced into 8 pieces) so although everything was hot to start with, the plates were not, so our food cooled quickly. With three pepsi drinks the bill came to £91.

First visit and not impressed. Admittedly we may have been spoilt when it comes to steaks previously. The restaurant was busy but loud. No atmosphere. We struggled to hear the waiting staff. 2 4 1 cocktails were on offer on a Friday. The first of which tasted watered down. It wasn’t clear from the promotion that both cocktails had to be the same. The steaks were supposed to both be medium, they weren’t. Chunky chips were clearly of the frozen variety. When the bill arrived we had been over charged on the second round of drinks. Out waitress was still in her Fareham college uniform matched with tracksuit bottoms. She was a young girl so I’m not blaming her for this but the Manager should have some sort of uniform for waiting staff to make things seem a little more professional. All in all, £60 not well spent. We won’t be back.

The Rancho Steakhouse specialises, of course, in steak but has a menu wide enough to satisfy most people in a mixed group. We went early on a Sunday evening and it became steadily busier. There appeared to be only two people outside the kitchen but, to their credit, they kept up. Orders were taken accurately and the food was delivered promptly and fresh. Empanadas were surprisingly good. The test of a steak restaurant is, naturally, that they cook to order. My medium well was correct although my partner felt his rare was leaning towards the medium rare. Nevertheless, all accompaniments were very nice. What I do think is a bit off - and this is by no means unique to this restaurant - is that, although many meal prices include sides, the steak prices do not, presumably in a slightly disingenuous attempt to make them look acceptable. The prices are actually not unreasonable but the place does entirely lack atmosphere with no evocation of, say, South America. The dessert menu was utterly uninspiring so calorie intake was fortunately modest. I would go again. Fareham is not rich with decent places to eat.

The restaurant was quiet when We arrived, I was very impressed with my rump steak it was excellent, the table service was excellent and the restaurant was spotlessly clean, the only two things that disappointed me, the food arrived on a cold plates witch wasn’t good being sat under an air conditioning unit, I noticed the food rapidly changed temperature, while enjoying my meal, also the desert menu seem a little bland and unexciting, so I skipped desert, as I was very busy on this particular day, I will defiantly return.

Was out longer then expected so as we were passing decided to stop and get something to eat (lunch time on a Wednesday afternoon). Awful attitude from staff as we had not booked in advance, we were told the only place we could sit was the seating by the bar which was the same menu but no table service, which we didn't mind. We found a seat and then heard bar staff very loudly announce they couldn't believe people turn up without a booking (as I said stopped by unexpectedly as out longer then planned). We waited over an hour for foodto arrive, but when it did it was piping hot and tasted good so no complaints there. I wouldn't be in a rush to return due to staff attitude, and I would rather they had just said sorry we are fully booked (which i dont think they were as as you had to walk past the main dining area to get to the toilets and it was only ever half full the whole 2 hours we were there)
