Rancho Steak House in Fareham

Went here for my mums birthday and was not disappointed fantastic place. Great atmosphere. Staff were lovely and the food was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone. We all have a great time. Definitely be visiting again soon.

On Feb 8th 2024 I bought a take out meal costing £46.27. The meal arrived and the driver took £50.00 from my carer. I was not made aware that my card details had been kept on a database and would be used automatically the next time I ordered roughly a year after my previous order. I contacted the restaurant later the same evening informing them of what took place. I was told the driver had gone home but the manager would speak to them and phone me the following evening. No such call was made and despite trying to contact them through Paypal I have not had any response from them at all. These people have taken £96.24 from me for a meal that was also far from value for money. What a rip off!

What a disaster! We pre-booked a table for 15 people and were the only customers upon arrival. Drinks were slow to arrive, and the food service was atrocious. Our table could view the service/kitchen are and it seems like they were prioritising delivery orders over those in the restaurant. To add insult to injury, another table entered the restaurant and appeared to be friends of the staff working there. We waited 1.5 hours for any starters to arrive. They mixed up chicken and meat dishes, and served the side orders of garlic bread with the starters. We ended up eating in 3 separate groups on our table due to the terrible service. The main courses were equally confused by the staff - so the same result where we ate separately. I have given a rating of 2 instead of 1 as my steak was pretty good when it eventually arrived. The final insult was upon the group checking accounts the next day; one of the group was charged twice on their card. They even had the audacity to add the advertised service charge to the meal. We will not be back!

Very slow and disappointing experience. We were a large group (16) so anticipated that this wouldn’t be a quick meal, but given that there was only one other table in the restaurant, we were frustrated and disappointed in how long our starters took to come out - and that they didn’t all come out together. When the mains came out, three of us had to wait a while for our sides. Food was nice but Rancho’s seem to be prioritising orders for delivery over the satisfaction of customers actually in the restaurant which is shame.

Sorry gone down hill. Empty. Small steak. Over cooked chicken. Steak not seasoned. Flavourless ribs Non English speaking waiter. Food entry level. Slow service top price paid for basic cheap food. We won’t be back. Get your self sorted. Happy Christmas

Birthday celebration, food was good however service charge was added to the bill. We discussed this with the waiting staff and was told that the management kept all service charge and that any tips left on the table we’re also taken by management!

With Renchos being our goto steak restaurant a 10 years ago, we decided to go here for anniversary meal as family. Was a bit of a shock. Only 2 waiters in the restaurant and were slow to get drinks. We used meerkat meals for discount and it took a while to be assured they accepted it. English did not seem to be first language but managed. Food was ok but portions did not seem great as they used to be.. overall it was ok but not like it used to be

Late booking for a Saturday in August. Never been here before so was cautious. Steak was tender and perfectly cooked. Sauce was tasty. Staff prompt & polite. What more can you ask for? Maybe stock alcohol free lager?

My wife and i have visited on more than one occasion. Whilst they also provide limited vegetarian meals that suit my wife, I am not enamoured with their steaks which of course is the raison d'etra of their business. Both the texture and taste is not the best which I put down to wet curing perhaps also over too short of period. I usually buy steaks from a butcher that are dry cured for a period of six weeks which melt in the mouth. It's a shame but it's not what I expect.

The steak was of such low quality braising may be its only use. The alcohol free cocktails were ok but I was glad they were 2 for 1. My chorizo sausage I ordered for a starter was a breakfast sausage with paprika sprinkled on the plate. See picture for reference. Overall I felt embarrassed, hungry and ripped off.

We booked online for a 6pm dinner and got a 25% discount straight away. A few cocktails, nice bottle of wine and three lovely steaks. Service was courteous and attentive and it was all quite faultless. It's local to us, so we will be there again. Thank you.

had a family party of 8. we all had a lovely meal with 2 bottles of wine included. everyone was happy with no complaints. the 2 course lunch menu was very nice and reasonably priced. very tasty steaks. maybe some mustard would have been nice.

We had really good meal here ,I had surf & turf & partner fillet steak .Both were cooked to our asking . I had ribs to start which were very tasty with lots of meat . The service was good & friendly & restaurant had a nice vibe . We found it good value for money too , we even got a free shot of our choosing at the end . All in all a very pleasant meal out , we will return!!

The serving staff were very pleasant, and our food was well cooked and presented. When the bill arrived, it was much larger than we thought it would be. We expected a discount as advertised on line and outside the restaurant, as it was a Tuesday. We questioned the bill, and they recalculated it, giving discount on the meat, not the whole bill as we expected. On checking the bill, we had been charged for service, but there was no mention of this by the staff or on the menus. There were only two of us anyway. When we went to pay, we expressed our displeasure at the mistakes made, and the bill was recalculated again. We then paid, and we were offered a free drink, but we would have preferred to have not had to question our bill, twice. We will not be returning. This was not a good end to my husbands birthday.

Dined on a Wednesday evening and each of us opted for the all you can eat ribs. For the most part these were dry, overcooked and lacking flavour. The waitress was friendly but the rest of the staff less so. When the bill arrived it was clear that the prices in the menu were incorrect and we were directed to a notice on another table indicating the price rise, this was not visible prior to ordering nor had this been communicated to us by the waiter. The increase was small but felt deliberately deceptive. To add further insult a service charge was added to the bill for a party of 3. Would not recommend.

Just been to Rancho steakhouse in Fareham the other day with my mates. I had an awesome time. Great food, generous portion and high quality service. We ordered 8 steaks and every steak came out perfectly according to our need. Food was served on a reasonable considering how busy the restaurant was. Hats off to the chef! This could be one of my favourite dinner places in UK. I definitely recommend you to have a steak here and feel that experience as I did.

They find not know I was coming, thevlast time I was there you order a steak and tomatoes and mushroom was on the plate also the steak came with chips, I used to ask for the tomato and mushroom not to be put on the plate. One of my party ask if he could have small chipsin stead of large, when the plate arrived there was no tomato or mushroom. Apparently now you have to ask for them both and the chips which now comes as side orders and can cost between 2-50 & 3-50 a bowl. In stead of getting steak and chips for £18 you end up getting it for £20 +2-50 +-3-50 which ends up as £26 for a meal, that's an extra £8 more than the last time I went a rip off. The steak was cook as I wanted it but was so dry. Did not complain because it was a birthday meal for my wife and I didn't want to unset her.

White it is not cheap, the quality was good and plenty of it, most of our group had large steaks with no complaints.

Wanted a post cinema meal but pre-booked as it was a Saturday. Good job we did as quite a few people were filing in to the restaurant in front of and behind us. We were shown to a cosy table in a corner fairly near the door but it wasn't too chilly as we were sheltered from it by a low wall. The place looked completely full, with people waiting at the bar for tables to become available. The service was a little on the slow side but hardly surprising as they were so busy. Anyway it wasn't a problem and when ever someone passed our table or brought something to us they made a point of apologising for the speed of service so they still managed to be very attentive even when busy, We both had prawns for starters but different dishes: I had prawn cocktail and he had fried large prawns in their shells. These were nice but he felt he could have done with one or two more (big appetite). I felt my prawn cocktail was actually a bit too big (smaller appetite) leaving me feeling I might struggle to finish the main course: Loads and loads of prawns but they were the very tiny ones and slightly chewy. Would have been better with fewer prawns but better quality ones. We both had steak - I had the fillet and he had the ribeye. both were cooked to our liking and tasty. And yes I did struggle a bit to finish it! We had skinny fries and green beans with it and a good bottle of red wine. No room for dessert for either of us. It came to around £75.00 with the wine. Went on my own for a meal whilst staying for a work meeting. Had prawns for starters followed by a brilliant Rancho triple steak (tenderloin, rump and sirloin) it was top notch food. 10% military discount as well. Will definitely return in Apr on my next visit.

The restaurant was larger than I expected. We had a lunchtime special menu, I think it was 2 courses for about £10. A real good quality meal. I had a prawn cocktail and chicken , salad and chips. All of which was very good. The others had ribs and steak, salad and chips, they said theirs meals were excellent too.

Visited Ranchos in Fareham with friends & we were all very surprised. From the pavement looking in you can't see a lot to see if it's busy or not , a quick walk around the corner & we were greeted with a full house. A lively & busy restaurant with a greet menu choice. Steaks , Chicken & die for ribs. If your looking for a great local steak on a Saturday night look no fewer than Ranchos. BZ We will be back .

We have visited this restaurant a number of times in the past and had lunch there today. Lunch was lovely good food well served by a staff member, we later found out was called Kerry.

All you can eat ribs, great value for money, would really need to be pre booked as the place was packed all evening, we tried to book it on a previous trip and couldn’t get a table, an endless supply of tasty succulent ribs, first class definitely one to go back to

5 of us went for the steaks and whilst 3 were happy enough 2 definitely were not.

Had an amazing time this evening at Rancho Steakhouse -- Was fantastic food and service. The steak was the best steak by far I have had in England! If you are looking for a fantastic service with unbelievable food then get yourself down to this Resturant!

We went as a group of about eight of us, despite booking well in advance, we were all crammed into a circular booth which was a little annoying as constantly having to move to let people out and no room for side plates for rib bones etc, but it still worked. Most of us went for the all you can eat ribs. The first round that came out were awesome, but subsequent servings didn't quite match the first. We had to wait quite a while between servings but not too long, and there were quite a few occasions where drinks we ordered just didn't come and required reminding - made me frustrating by the compulsary tip added to the bill - morph this probably worked to the waitresses' disadvantage as they probably would have got a lot more from people leaving their change!

We visited on a busy Friday evening and there a lot of large parties in the area to the rear of the restaurant, where we were seated. It was quite noisy so conversation was difficult, another time we would ask for a table at the front, where it seemed to be quieter. Even so we had a very enjoyable meal, the food was delicious, although one of our party of four had to return his steak as it hadn't been cooked the way he'd requested, the waiting staff were very apologetic and a replacement was quickly provided and that was fine. There was plenty of choice on the menu and it was of a reasonable price. We usually would have had a couple of bottles of red wine with our meal but with the cheapest starting at £22 we just had some beer. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Popped in for Lunch and had the most excellent service and food I've ever experienced and that's saying something.

Been coming here regularly since living in Fareham and am never disappointed. Great food, generous portions and staff that look after you. My favourite thing about this place is that the staff do not rush you, they let you enjoy your meal without trying to get rid of you ready for the next table. The ribs are particularly great.

Rancho's in Fareham is a really great place to enjoy a good meal. The staff are all really attentive and not too in your face. When I visit Fareham I make sure I book in for a meal. Not for vegetarians though

Really nice local restaurant with a great atmosphere. The staff are always making sure you're happy, the nice touches like hand towels and chocolates which make it feel that bit more special than the big chains. Food was presented and cooked very well. I had ribs which were so filling and plentiful whilst my partner had a great trio of steak perfectly cooked. Our daughter had a child's menu and for a change it was great to see something other than chicken nuggets on a menu. It was nice to know she had a proper chicken breast and not processed frozen bites.

I had been told this place was great by colleagues. Sadly did not live up to the billing. My ribs were dry and tough and did not appear to have been marinated. Definitely not melt in the mouth. Sadly I have never had ribs in the uk as good as those in the US. Chicken was agin dry and fibrous. The garlic fries ok. The bit of salad was swimming in dressing masking the flavour of the leaves. The spinach was a triumph nicely wilted, Well seasoned, Very tasty. Staff were attentive but being told "no worries" time and time again gets a bit wearing. I won't rush back.
