Seto is a small family run Japanese restaurant in Camden Town. It is a rare place in London where you can have a bowl of rustic and homely ramen similar to the ones you will find at diners (worker's cafe equivalent) in Japan. We had shoyu ramen and vegetarian ramen. All ramen noodles are £9 during lunch hours (including the one with extra pork chashu), but a boiled egg will cost extra £1. We asked for our noodles to be cooked harder. The noodle had nice chew and nostalgic 'old school' and comforting ramen noodle flavour. The vegetables on top of my veg ramen were fresh and cooked perfectly, finished in thick starchy sauce which gave a unique creamy texture to my soup which I liked. The only problem with my soup was that although it started off hearty and tasty, it begun to taste more and more like a packet soup towards the end, which by the way was not the case with my partner's non-veg soup. As for the soy based pork chashu ramen, the chashu was tasty and the egg was cooked and marinated perfectly keeping the yolk creamy and golden. The building is old and the décor is far from modern or fancy, but the standard of cleanliness was high throughout the restaurant from the sauce pots on our table to the toilet. Service was on point, attentive and polite. 10% service charge will be added to your bill. £9 for a bowl of ramen in London is good. But as far as the vegetarian ramen is concerned, the overall value is not much better than some other places where you can have a veg ramen with an egg and tofu for £12. All in all, Seto is an unassuming little hidden gem where you can experience the comforting flavour of ramen from down town Tokyo, or if you like, a staff canteen nationwide Japan.

Found this place by way of "Top ramen in london" list and booked for a Ramen-mad Aunts birthday on a Friday night. The food was incredible! We took a chance and ordered a lot (a lot) of starters and shared amongst us - nothing disappointed. The menu is quite simple and had both English and Japanese - we took a chance and ordered a wide variety without really knowing much. Such a nice difference from the Japanese chains. Our favourites: Fried Octopus Kimuchee Tempura (Various) - the salmon was incredible! All of the gyoza - freshly made, hot, delicious Our only bugbear was that a few dishes were forgotten about and took ages to come out once reminded. The beef teriyaki was totally worth the wait. Go, go, go! Great food, great vibe, ok prices.

I’ve been visiting Seto for the past few years now and it has never once disappointed! Food is always at an amazing standard, quick service and comfortable atmosphere. The simple decor gives the restaurant a homey, rustic feel. Seto also has a LOT of Japanese patrons which is of course a very good indicator of this establishment’s menu and authenticity! Highly recommend the Pork Gyozas and Chicken Teriyaki Don. Really good prices for great food too - definitely won’t break the bank!

This is a place in Camden I am happy to give money to as its not a chain, its run by a lovely granny and her family and is always welcoming. This place doesn't have to be all posh inside to be great. You will find many Japanese businessmen and familys come here which is a good sign. Service can be slow in here with it being busy and minimal staff but thats the only thing I could comment on. I will be going back here many more times. Reccomendation: Please start doing Yakitori. One thing lacking here!

We visited the restaurant (4 people) as we had heard good reviews - we were very disappointed. Whilst the sushi is of good quality, the service was dreadful (the waiter was rude and didn't make eye contact once) and it is very over priced. Chicken broth with cheap noodles (they looked and tasted like Maggi noodles) costing £7.00 Th female toilets are revolting - smelt awful and there was lots of mould everywhere. One tile is loose on the floor and when stepping on it - water (smelt more like urine) came up and all over my shoe. The sink was filthy. This put us off the food immediately - we asked for the hygiene rating but was ignored (it is no where to be seen) We spent £90 and came out hungry and feeling ripped off.

I came here after a suggestion from a friend. The restaurant is of a canteen style with bright lighting. we were seated straight away and the waiting staff were both polite and efficient, we started with the takyoaki Octopus balls, which i can only think were from a frozen packet, followed by tempura which I have to say was the blandest tempura I have ever tried. The main course we both had chicken teryaki don, this was the most disappointing it was pepper chicken slices on top of rice, the only teryaki flavour was at the bottom of the bowl. Sorry Ramen seto but I felt cheated.

Always been a fan of Japanese food. you know you're eating great authentic Japanese food if more than half of the people in the resto are Japanese-- which is always the case.i always feel i'm home, eating at home in this place. very simple, 'eatery' or cafe interior-- that they didn't invest on but GREAT and FANTASTIC food and service- where their focus obviously is. couldn't count anymore how many times we've eaten here. we frequent this restaurant as the owners, who i believe runs this restaurant everyday, were very accommodating; food was really great- taste and serving to be specific and everything is fresh-tasting. you don't need to spend that much unlike other Japanese restaurants i have been to in central London- food price is really affordable, i tell you. visit here a few minutes after opening for lunch or dinner service as they get really full quickly. they do take-aways too if you weren't able to grab a seat. best recommended if you want great ramen and other Japanese food without any elaborate platings in central london. wasn't able to take loads of pictures of the dishes we ordered as we were really hungry and finished them quickly. my toddler even loves the food here too.

Was nice to see potato croquette on the special menu. Had the cha-shu (extra pork) ramen which was had a nice authentic soup and lots of noodles. I have noticed that many rament places in London have poor quality broth or different from proper Japanese broth, but I can honestly say that Seto's ramen is pretty darn good. The gyoza dumplings were juicy and very freshly cooked, and an Asahi beer went well with the food. Service was good and staff were friendly, food came pretty quickly. I will definitely go there again. One small thing is that the toilets could have been a bit cleaner, not that they were disgusting or anything , but maybe spruce them up a bit. Overall - Worth going.

Visited mid week for dinner and had a fabulous experience.First up, they don't add a service charge to the bill! This is revolutionary for London and I hope it spreads. So nice for the ticket price to reflect what I'm paying for.Next up the food. It was great! Tasted really authentic and not over the top (a la Wagamama). Great range of items too. We had a couple of servings of the ramen soup noodles which were delicious! Price was decent, with most mains sub-£10 and a few much less than that.Service was efficient and friendly. We were there quite early in the evening on a weekday so it wasn't that busy but everything went smoothly. Not the kind of place to go for a fancy night out, but if you are looking for a yummy decent value meal in a restaurant with decent decor I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We were there on a weekday afternoon so there wasn't much crowd(often full at night), we were quite glad to be seated down right away. The pork and salmon gyozas were delicious though I find the dumpling layer slightly too thick, also preferred the salmon. Prawn tempura was tasty as its batter was light and not oily, though it was quite pricey(3 pieces for £4.80). The chasiu ramen tasted homely and authentic but nothing extraordinary. The salmon teriyaki's portion was generous, a bit hard/tough on one end but the soft bits were my favourite! It all came up to £25 for the two of us(with even 2 drinks included in the deals) and were very happy and satisfied with our meals. Would go again and definitely recommend! :)

Charming little family run restaurant with a warm welcome, lovely food and amazing prices.Okay, it is not fine-dining and you have to be prepared for paper napkins and no table linen. The interior design is similarly bare. But accept these minor limitations and relish the food and prices. The food is fresh and authentic, they will bend over backwards to help you, and I can't understand how they can do it for the price - especially the lunch menu where they include a beer or (enormous) glass of wine.We were there again this week for yet another return visit. The place was full and apart from us every other table was occupied by Japanese. That probably tells you all you need to know.

This is a real gem of a restaurant.Small friendly, and they bend over backwards to please. They offer all the popular choices & well known foods at an affordable price. They've moved from behind Regent's Street to the heart of Camden, just a side street off the main drag. Hunt them out or rediscover them if you went to their old place.Sushi that was quality. Delicate light tempura. Unusual take on Kareage (deep fried chicken Japanese style) As for mains: unbelievable good value with rice & miso soup often thrown in with the main meal deal. Many west end or central London Japanese restaurants are very expensive for they offer, and frequently don't have Japanese chefs. Seto is a breath of fresh air run by Japanese doing great home cooking well.Seal of approval we took Japanese friends there who said it was on a par with unpretentious Japanese cooking you'd find in Japan. While west London restaurants may offer a greater range & choice they're also much more expensive, contributing to the perception Japanese food is expensive outside Japan. It doesn't have to be. Seto have sacrificed quality for cheaper prices. They've gone for doing simple popular dishes well at an affordable price.Worth seeking out when you're in Camden as its off the main road. Also a few minutes walk from Mornington Crescent tube station too.

Hidden behind the touristy Carnaby Street hides one of the best Japanese eatery in central London. It’s small, the service is simple but the food is simply great! Portions are large and can be made even larger for a little extra money. The salmon gyozas are one of the house specialty and the ramen are just amazing. The Udon noodle proudly come from Japan (the owner recently apologized for having to buy non Japanese one due to shortage) and the prawn tempura light as a feather. Add a Saporo (large silver can) and you will have completed a perfect japanese every-day food experience. For sure this is no high tech Japanese food but the competition for Ramen is lagging far behind. As for the price, it is scandalously cheap! Definitively recommended.

But it's always packed, so that must tell you something. We've had lots of the dishes from here, the gyoza are always fabulous and the ramens are really, really good. The rice dishes are also excellent, so feel like there's something for everyone. We usually have beers but did have the house red once and that was surprisingly good, and still pretty cheap. Great place to meet friends, just round the corner from all the shops and a really authentic experience. Love it.

One of my favourite places to eat out... I love Chashu Ramen and the Gyoza... delicious! Just came back from there tonight... ;-)

Excellent, authentic Japanese cuisine at very down to earth prices. This is a cafe, not a restaurant and thankfully the prices reflect that, this is the kind of place that is a rare gem in the West End!

I love this place. It's good and great value. And it feels hidden away. We always head here when we want some quick and good Japanese food. Fantastic.

If you want reasonably priced Japanese canteen food with no frills this is the place. You won't find Japanese food cheaper than this in London.

We were refused entry for a pre dinner drink as our 15yo daughter was with us and were left to wait on the street for 30 minutes until our table was ready. Good restaurants accommodate people in this situation. The service was average and unenthusiastic. The quality of the T bone steak and black cod was poor, sushi was good. This place has high notions about itself but fails to deliver. Exorbitant prices for very average service and food. Would definitely not recommend

Lugar muy concurrido con algunas mesas. Pudimos enganchar una mesa y disfrutamos de 2 croffles. Eran muy crujientes con sabores agradables.

Amazing food as always. Service was great but feels like could be made better with attentiveness and better order taking process. Love the terrace and the setting on a sunny day, can’t wait for it to open indoor.
