All time fav place ever visited in London

I came across this grocery store by pure chance, and I really liked it. There is a wide choice of products (whether culinary or goodies), it was very nice!

Good selection of Japanese drinks, snacks, foods, also hot food available

Loved this place. I can see why it was so busy. I did buy a few things, too. I loved the mochi doughnuts!!! The downstairs had a very well stocked shop with food and household items. It was well priced and the staff were lovely. There is a small cafe and the food smells so good. If I had known about it, I would definitely have had lunch there, but I will do it next time!!!

Been trying different foods and Japanese food has got me very intrigued my wife loves it all the very tasty snacks they do go have a look around fascinating place nice staff too ..

Always crowded, vegetables were a great bargain! I got a variety of Japanese drinks but couldn’t get any in London.

Visited on April 8, 2018 A truly Japanese assortment! As expected of London! Although the prices are high, you can get many Japanese products!

This place used to be nice, but the prices have gone up so much and the service has become so poor. Two times in a row now I ordered complimentary hot food to eat in, each time it took over 20 mins for the food to be ready, and the staff didn’t even apologise. Both times it was not busy and there were plenty of staff in the kitchen area. Other customers having the same food got served earlier than me, very disappointing.

The mochi donut was delicious. We also ate tonkatsu ramen, kitsune soba and curry rice. The kitsune soba was very fulfilling, has to be eaten fast otherwise it will be soggy. Nice selection of japanese food

Very good sushi and lots of Japanese products. I just recommend to come earlier, we came around 6 o'clock and the sushi was selected.

In the UK, there are all kinds of Japanese food and daily groceries shops. Of course, don’t imagine going to Aeon or Don Don Donki. But for people who are homesick, going there to eat, buy or buy something can relieve their homesickness!

Love it here, range of korean choices has grown since first started to visit. Fair few things you can find cheaper at a supermarket or a local mini japanese supermarket but there are options you can only get here.

Sunday Night, we waited 10 minutes at the entrance with the place half empty, when the waitress arrived she sat us and that was the end of it. We waited 20 minutes to order but nobody arrived. When we left the waitress was chatting with a colleague at the entrance and when we told the guy that we were have waited, he just waved at us. So sad to see how a place we really enjoyed lots of times has gone down. Hopefully next time the service is going to be better.

A supermarket that is worth seeing. Lots of nice details, good selection of products. Also a selection of fresh dishes that you can eat on site.

Loved walking round here and buying Japanese and Asian snacks that are harder to find elsewhere! Prices aren't cheap, but that's to be expected in today's economy. Great range of to-go and eat in food options too. We didn't eat this time, but I'll be back!

Great place pretty authentic and reasonably priced food.

First time at this Japan Center location, between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus stations. It was wonderful! I came before 11am on a Monday and looked around the store until they were serving food, in which I ordered the authentic Japanese curry and hot green tea. The canteen area is welcoming; wooden; could charge my phone and listen to the Japanese songs playing in the store. The fresh sushi looked amazing but this time I was already too full and happy :) :)

I was looking forward to try these mochi donuts 🍩 but it turned out to such a let down! They were very stale and tasted awful, the doughnuts seems like they have been left for several days to sell out. Not very fresh at all. There wasn’t any mochi chewy taste inside! Dry and stale doughnuts. Nothing like the ones in Japan “Mister Doughnut”

Good standard and a great place to stop for a canteen style bite in Piccadilly.

So happy to get my japanese supplys. Nice clean store and deli. Wished I had picked up more daikon pickle. Only thing I could not find was furikake. I should have asked. There is always next time!

Good little place hidden away off leicester square

You can find cheap and delicious sasimi leftovers and eat them on the spot. It’s really delicious.

The Japan centre has become much smaller compared to the previous location. We were disappointed as it has become more like a Chinese supermarket now. There are a lot less products from Japan. The quality of the cooked food is also not as nice as before. The whole place was very crowded. The entrance is very narrow with stairs that are not accessible for all. You had to walk about around the whole place after paying.

It’s really nice to have so many things in one place. There is vegan food here too! You can also eat inside, but the seating area isn’t that clean. 4* due the incredibly inflated prices. It felt a bit pricey , wouldn’t get my regular shopping here.

We visited today the Japan Centre near Trafalgar square in London. It is a gem for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Japanese (or Asian) cuisine and culture. Here are the highlights: The Japan Centre boasts an impressive range of Asian foods and alcogolic and non-alcoholic drinks. Foods are fantastic! From fresh sushis to crispy rice and other snacks, kimchis, flavourful sake in every possible size and flavour, it's a paradise for Asian food enthusiasts. If you're in a hurry or craving a quick bite, their selection of ready-to-eat cold foods in small boxes, like sushi, you easily can find something. The centre also features a delightful mochi bar, where you can grab some freshly made mochi and some drinks with it. An other interesting thing is that they have a brown rice Miller machine. Beyond food, they even have a book section with nice books from JLPT5 to JLPT1, and also postcards and a few other nice paper things. Also they even have a handbook about sake. Also there is a kitchen area with tables, making it a perfect place to dine in. Overall, the Japan Centre is a culinary heaven, a must to visit place for every Asia fans.

Nice place to get Japanese products and lunch! Downstairs has limited seating but good ramen - not too salty and the pork is cooked just right!

It was my second time visiting and their selection is vast having all types of Asian products (mostly Japanese) and always having great deals. We decided to go to the restaurant above the store and find the service was quick and easy, and were seated right away the food was very good and reasonably priced (for a restaurant in central London)

Fantastic Japanese Market with a wide selection of goods. Minus 1 star for the layout, which could be better, as the cafe section feels like it'd be better if it was sectioned off a bit and not in the middle of the store. There is also NO accessible way to get to the lower floor, as there are stairs.

Very authentic store! My partner is japanese and was very excited to buy produce that he hasn't been able to eat since he was back at home in japan🥰 the indoor restaurant was also really worth the money and the food was delicious 😋

A dull, underground market. Two loud people/ diner made shopping experience uncomfortable. Even worse, a cashier girl behaves like not awake, almost had no idea what she was doing. I got to say food is good, if not overpriced in extreme way.

I ordered 5 items and did not receive any of them. They substituted my whole order -with no communication- to food I do not eat. I was given a cress, avo, roe and salmon bowl with really old looking avocado which made me not want to eat it. I wish they had communicated to me that I would not be receiving any of the items I ordered so that I could have spent my money elsewhere. It's really sad because I have had good food here in the past but this time I feel ripped off.

I was expecting a bigger centre

Food was amazing! The decor and atmosphere is great. Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a hug in a bowl comfort food

I wouldn’t say it’s the best ramen shop I’ve had since the ramen and udon we brought was super plane and just didn’t seem to be hyped neither its price. The environment was super nice and aesthetically pleasing and had calm music playing in the background. Customer service was decent although there seems to be not a single Asian person working in there meaning it was all white men being forced to say Japanese word without its correct phrase. Everything was super clean food was quick. Just the taste is what let it down honestly.

I love Japan Centre it is slightly overpriced for some items compared to other similar shops in London but overall it's always a great customer experience

Probably 3.5 stars. Limited Japanese goods, food and goods were a bit overpriced, decent to go and prepped foods. Staff was friendly

Bought some sashimi for homemade sushi and it was incredible, landed up having half of it just as is!

Really good Japanese grocery store and restaurant, quite crowded, but lively and cozy. Would recommend avoiding lunch hours due to crowds if you just want to shop

The change from it's previous location feels too small with product and space so reduced became stressed and problematic as it was hard to navigate the people having food to look the products, i was looking for

This is such a good shop for value for your money, definitely recommend coming in the morning when everything is fresh (especially Matcha cookies). I just WISH the staff were faster. They’re so unbelievably slow at packing that the que can literally take 10 minutes sometimes. Please move faster, I worked in retail myself and I don’t believe in staff being pressured to work faster than a natural pace, especially when they’re on minimum wage, but damn this is beyond slow, anyone shopping there in the que can see how ridiculous it is.

Nice little Japan center with a small grocery market and restaurants. Plenty of options to choose from and lots of convenience foods for grab n go. Seating is limited

Happy hour available. We stopped here for a quick dinner before a theatre show and this was a lovely spot. Service was good and the restaurant was very unique. I loved the decor and it definitely did make you feel like you were in Japan! Delicious options on menu too!

If you want fair priced sushi which is quality then come here. They have a great selection and sashimi too which is around £20 a tray (enough to share between 2). They have wooden chopsticks, soy and pickled ginger for free at the checkout. I think they have wasabi too but I don't eat that. There is not only a cold fridge section with said sushi and pre made rice bowls but also a hot section where you can order skewers and ramen. I've seen Japanese people eating the ramen here so it must be fairly good. You can eat in but my advice is at lunchtimes / peak hours the seating gets quite busy and cramped so try and arrive slightly off peak if you can but having said that I was there at Thursday 2:30pm and the canteen area was heaving.

I’ve had positive experiences at the Japan centre and I must admit this Sushi is very good quality as is the Curry and the shop aspect is very nice, but I’ve had a very disappointing Tempura this time! I can’t be sure but to me it seems microwaved. Very soggy and doughy not at all crisp unfortunately. I do like Japan centre though and I will give it another chance inspire of a disappointing experience today.

Safe to say it’s one of the best sushi sets I’ve ever had in London in this price range. Affordable, fresh, and authentic!

The store is very nice and the sushi looks amazing. However I was very disappointed with the tempura. You'd expect it to be fried and crispy. But they just heat in the microwave and it was a soggy mess...

There are many Japanese products here, from ingredients, snacks, table ware to books and magazines. Once you entered the shop, seems they bring you to Japan. You can enjoy Ramen and sashimi don rice in food court. The portion for ladies might be enough, but what I concerned is the temperature of the food. It's a pity that the seafood ramen is not hot enough.

This is not a big store but they have a pretty good selection. It's pretty pricey compared to the States but we stop by when we are in London. They have lots of pre packed meals and some things prepared to eat there. They also have the mochi donut shop at the entrance.

The ramen is usually affordable and delicious, with a lovely atmosphere. Though the service does depend where you're seated - try and avoid being sat near the kitchen of the restaurant otherwise the staff usually walk past you.

The supermarket has a magnificent selection of ingredients and food products. The restaurant was a real disappointment. The food was not properly re-heated because they individually heat up the hot food in a microwave There is nothing freshly cooked. It felt unsafe. The food was lukewarm and with rice and chicken it is essential the the food is hot. Several other diners returned their food for the same reason. I have eaten at the JC over many years. What a pity the standard has slipped.

Amazing. Highly recommended the restaurant on the ground floor decor is fantastic, food is very good and staff is friendly.

You’ll find a lot of Japanese delicacies and condiments. We tried gyoza from the food bar, but they served them cold and with no sauce. The sushi aren’t made by the order and are probably served cold, which is a bit sad if you have ever tried sushi in Japan.

Negozio grande. Prezzi alti, come tutta Londra. Il melonpan non ha nulla a che fare con l'originale. Non hanno i dorayaki.

Went to the store yesterday, my ear is not good so could not hear the staff clearly when I check out, he is very impatient and reluctant to repeat. I was very shock and sad, Japan Center used to be very friend to clients.

Hade förväntat mig mer smak av köttet. Förövrigt så var min hyfsat god. Två fick in rätter som hade bra med smak. Dom var väldigt nöjda med sin mat.

Slow service. Little on offer. Soggy prawn tempura. Wouldn't advise. Nearly £5 for a can of Diet Coke.

Extremely disappointed with the attitude of the wait staff at this restaurant. Came with 2 children who wanted the child’s menu but didn’t want the strange Italian ramen on offer, so we asked if they could substitute one small ramen for a different, small ramen. We were told this was impossible and absolutely out of the question but the staff couldn’t explain why. If this truly is policy it is incomprehensible. Extremely disappointed so we left to find a different restaurant.

Nobody queuing in front of me, ordered a matcha latte, and waited at least 10 minutes for it to arrive. When it did arrive, it looked green in colour but had zero matcha flavour. I was basically drinking full fat cows milk on its own which wasn't very pleasant, I wish I'd taken it back. That said I will come back to try the sushi as they had a good selection.

Am so disappointed. Ramen was tasteless and floating in fat. Not going to last long if they keep serving such atrocious food. What a shame. Japanese food can be so fantastic.

The Japan Center is a casual place offering cold and hot food with a small grocery. The prices for the food and beverages are very reasonable. They offer a wide selection of sushi and sashimi along with other hot meals including Udon. The central location is between Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Trafalgar Square. I highly recommend.

Best place to pick up some Japanese groceries, plus they do the most amazing teriyaki chicken donburri and tasty ramen which you can eat at their tables. Fresh, hot and super yummy.
