A place not to miss in London. Ramen 🍜 and mochi are fabulous. 👌

One of my favourite places. I buy ramen and stock. It satisfies my cravings, and is great since I don't go out to eat ramen any more. I love all the other items they stock, like kitchenware, magazines and sashimi. I actually haven't bought any, but it's cool to look at them. If you need Japanese groceries, this is brilliant, though some items are cheaper in Chinatown. The takeaway is great too. I've had the gyoza and yakitori chicken skewers, though it was ages ago.

I love the Japan centre. I don't usually eat there but always shop. Some great products at a very reasonable cost considering they are all imported. Sake week at the moment.

Quite terrible. People who work there have no idea what most of the Japanese’s items are. Frustrating when you are asking the staff and they have zero clue ( if you work there you should know the basics) Overly priced for the same sauce and general items you can find at other Asian stores. Sushi is substandard. Even at the fish market fish is sliced so thinly (mostly poorly seasoned rice) ..and expensive for what it is. Waste of a trip.

Some of the most tasty takeaway sushi in London, and not too expensive. Only downside was I wanted to pick up some onigiri before I left for my train at 11:30am and they were so slow stocking the shelves that I had to leave without it. Good selection of Japanese products.

A pretty nice little Japanese mini market and restaurant where you can get some interesting Japanese ingredients, dessert and food. They don't have the most complete collection on their shelves and certainly the food is not mind-blowing but it was decent enough

I tried the katsu curry on my recent trip to London and it was easily the best meal I had on my trip! Definitely recommend it. The staff were also very kind and helpful and there was plenty of place to sit and enjoy your meal.

I have been going to this Japan Centre for many years. However, I never thought of giving my reviews. On the 3/10/2024-Thursday, I went to this Japan Centre for a quick dinner. I ended up spending over £100 shopping for various Japanese food. Treating myself with a bowl of vegetarian soup ramen and a pack of sashimi sushi. Highly recommended this Japanese centre. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Friendly staff and a nice vibe to the place

Love this place! It’s like a portal into Japan. For anyone who has been to Japan you will find your favourites from fruit to candy. Prepared food is great and authentic as well. Worth a visit.

Chicken teriyaki donburi was so dry and had no flavour, beef donburi was so greasy. We left more than half our meals as it was so bad, very disappointed.

A place where you can shop and eat at the same time. Love their big variety of drinks!!

I can only say good things about Japan Centre. We went there first because we knew it was a supermarket for Japanese products, which had a lot of variety and at a good price, but then we saw that they also had prepared food to take away and that you could eat freshly made food there at VERY reasonable prices. The first day I took a salmon and tuna poke at a reduced price, since in the afternoon, after a certain time, they give discounts of 30% on their fresh products, so you can have dinner quite cheap. The quality of the fish was spectacular. Some of the best salmon and tuna I have ever tried. The second day we wanted to have dinner there, and we got salmon nigiri which was tremendous, mascarpone and anko dorayaki which was very tasty and yuzu mochis, which are our favorite mochis at the moment. Then we ordered ramen and rice with curry, and it was very very good. The ramen was very original and the curry very tasty, slightly spicy. The truth is that it is 100% recommended, and they also give you a points card, and for every 10 pounds you get a stamp. Nice place with very good food!

Very nice place with lots of imported Japanese products. There are also many cuts of meat and fish just like in Japan. There is also a small bakery with baked products such as melon pan at super affordable prices. Nice just to visit. Super recommended

Have always wanted to visit. Not as big as I was expecting but the selection is fabulous with some hard to find items and a great ready to eat selection. It's central London and imported products so it's quite expensive but worth the experience

I recently visited this place as I work in the city. I have always been intrigued by the decor both in and out so I thought I give it a try. Needless to say I was blown away by the service that it has to offer. I was greeted by a young Asian male in the name of Suraj. He couldn't me more accommodating to what I wanted to eat as it was my first time ever trying Japanese cuisine. Amazing. Suraj is an asset to your organisation. Thank you. Will definitely be back.

There are many Japanese staff, so you can easily order in Japanese. They offer a wide range of authentic Japanese ingredients and food.

It's great. Nice food and style.

Downstairs they have the market where you can buy sushi, sashimi, japanese drinks, and also order hot bowls of stuff. There are a few tables and you can eat right there inside the market. The market also has lots of japanese products. Upstairs is their ramen restaurant. You sit and scan the table code and order and pay right there from your phone. They bring the food to you. The ramen was delicious. The prawn tempura were hot and crispy. Everything tasted very authentic and the service was quick.

AUTHENTIC! Best food for such an affordable price. Freshest sashimi available -- love the fatty yellow fin tuna sashimi!!!

My son really loves the onigiri at Japan Centre London. We were here one day late and all was sold out. So we came back another day and they were gone too. The staff here noticed his disappointment and checked why. After they learnt about the reason, they made four chicken onigiri special for him. What a lovely team. Thank you Prabath at the fresh counter and Suresh from the kitchen.

Variety of japanese products but VERY expensive

Amazing products and ramen restaurant. A true taste of Japan and they have homeware and magazines etc too - definitely recommend a visit. Especially if you are missing any Japanese snacks.

Convenient shop for all your Japanese needs. But only does it sell fresh Japanese food and ingredients but it also has book magazines and kitchen goods. A bit expensive but then much cheaper than going to Japan :)

Great variety of Japanese ingredients, fresh produce and snacks. The food-to-go is out of this world. Their sushi is nothing like I have ever tried before, it is fresh and high quality.

For a little slice of Japan and for the wide range of sweets, snacks, green tea, food, drink and books, I love visiting this store, also the restaurant has really yummy ramen 😁

It helped that I had lots of ingredients. It's expensive, but I'm really happy with the sashimi.

Ugo was a friendly and extremely professional associate. While working as security he has such an extensive knowledge of the products, as well as an in depth appreciation and perspective on japanese and Asian culture. I'll definitely be back, keep up the good work :)

Hidden gem of japanese goodies. I got some instant miso to have with me during travel for under £3

My wife and I got diarrhea (2-3hrs later) after having sushi and sashimi. Hope this is a single issue. OMG

Very expensive & limited range of goods available. Very disappointing with the options available, left without purchasing anything & will not come back again.

I came in yesterday to the Japan centre Panton street it was my first ever visit The staff were very kind and helpful and friendly it was very interesting and informative I will be back again soon

There are a lot of Japanese things like food, manga, stationery, etc. The price is not high either.

Amazing place where you can shop for Japanese goods and food and dine to. If this shop was bigger it would be so much better but the range of foods is very good. Lovely choice of Sake, soy and miso, well worth a visit.

Lots of variations of the same few products. Ultimately there’s only about 10-15 unique items and 5-10 versions of each

Everything contains bad additives. I used to buy organic natto, but its been replaced with natto full of nasties. The place is like expensive japanese aldi now!

We really enjoyed our visit there. The staff were very friendly and super helpful too. We will return.

Wish we'd had time to have lunch here as the food options smelt and looked amazing. I was over the moon to find a few favourites from Japan and loaded up some drinks and things for my stay. I've ordered from Japan Centre online before so I was aware of their extensive range but the job is just a wonderful slice of Japan in London. It is is not overly tourist driven and is clearly a bit of a hidden gem because it wasn't busy at all.

Lovely area that brings the essence of Japan to London. They have eat-in space, a canteen style with lots of seats, books, merch, pottery and a large selection of grocery and spices.

Food quality and serving staff does not up to Japan Centre’s standard. It’s much smaller as a supermarket to the original Japan Centre. However what’s most disappointing is the food sector. When I visited today the fish counter is closed but all ready packed sashimis are cut terribly so just can’t pick any. Was trying to order a draught beer while the staff behind the counter was a bit confused. Went to ask the staff behind the food counter which then told it is not serving draught beer in a not so friendly manner. Quite disappointed to be honest and I would not recommend this branch.

A little bit of Japan in central London

For a truly authentic Japanese experience in London, I highly recommend this place. It offers a wide assortment of Japanese goods, from traditional cooking ingredients to snacks, sweets, and prepared foods. You can find almost everything you need to make your own authentic Japanese meals at home. Additionally, the restaurants within and around the building bring the tastes of Japan right to London.

I love Japan Centre for a simple reason: the food is exceptional value for the quality of sushi you get. However, what truly sets this place apart is the friendly and attentive staff. Special acknowledgement goes to Suraj, who is always very friendly and caring, making each visit to Japan Centre a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

Nice Japanese cafeteria in the basement. Beware that they only served ramen two hours prior to closing.

I love it here and over years it’s been consistently great, amazing sashimi the price has gone up quite a lot in past 10 years but quality and portions remain.

The food at the supermarket was sadly poor. I can here with high hopes but was disappointed. The karaage was bland and not crispy. The gyoza were average alongside the onigiri as well. The chicken did not feel properly cooked and seemed to lack any form of seasoning. The katsudon was much the same.

Lovely service at Japan center with staff more than willing to explain and guide you towards your style of sake or other treats, highly recommend!

Excellent place to get your Japanese shopping done, lots of great ingredients, sweets, wine, fish and more. It's also great for a quick lunch.

Delicious Japanese food. An excellent starter and an extremely tasty main course. The service was amateurish and unfriendly at times, but other than that we have no negative comments. We enjoyed our meal in this cozy restaurant.

Great place to come and get Japanese food

The best ramen broth I’ve ever tasted was at Japan Centre supermarket. Great hangover cure! My hubby had the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen, whilst I had the Kotteri Tonkotsu Ramen. Both were outstanding, with a rich and tasty bone broth. However we didn’t like the shredded pickled ginger at all, as it ruined the beautiful flavours of the bone broth. Will have to remember to ask them to leave it out next time we order. Yes! We’re already planning for our next bowl of ramen here! The supermarket is fantastic. Apart from a good selection of Japanese products, there is also a fresh food section with things like pork belly and Wagyu Beef Shabu Shabu, Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki slices, Wagyu Beef Yakiniku cut, and even Wagyu fat! (Please see my photos) Other items: pre-marinated chicken karaage, and a BEAUTIFUL selection of sashimi such as: katsuo tataki sashimi, bluefin tuna, also fatty and medium fatty bluefin tuna, and of course salmon, as well as yellowtail, octopus, scallops, vinegared mackerel, calamari (squid), sea bass, sweet prawn, and other beautiful raw products for cooking, such as beautiful slices of fatty salmon, pre-marinated black cod miso and mackerel miso. This place is like heaven!

Great service & great food inside the store but the experience I've had with deliveries recently has been awful. I ordered 6 melon sodas & they sent me 6 green teas instead

Everything I wanted was in stock and even more. The saff was also very nice and the whole place had a nice atmosphere. Overall, it was great, and I recommend anyone to visit!

So consistently overpriced and low quality

The Japan Centre is a fantastic spot for anyone interested in Japanese cuisine and culture. I recently visited for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal paired with an authentic Japanese export beer. The Japan Centre is also the best place to shop for a variety of Japanese products, including food, drinks, magazines, and more. I regularly buy instant miso soup, gyoza, and a selection of snacks, all of which are reasonably priced. Highly recommended for both dining and shopping!

Such a bad dining experience today. I usually buy the products only at The Japan centre, but today I ate in and was thoroughly disappointed with the quality. I ordered beef sukiyaki and the katsu with rice. Terrible flavours, dry, flavourless beef, reheated,dry katsu which was not crispy at all. This is not a representation of real Japanese food. I feel so annoyed and cheated that I had to spend £30 on food today I even let the manager know of my disappointment (he could only apologise). I am not sure if there are Japanese chefs in the kitchens, but if they are then they do not what Japanese food and quality is about. I feel sad that this is what is being served as Japanese as this is one of my favourite cuisines. In general, the Japan centre has a good selection of products from Japan, but this experience of eating has make me never want to buy the food from the canteen again. You really need to have better quality control from people who know Japanese food.

I went there to buy a few items which I normally ordered online. The supermarket have variety of food/ cooking ingredients. They also sell hot foods and also some prepack salad, sushi, sashimi and they looked very appetising.

There are two types of people in this world, ' ones who have visited Japan' and the ' ones who long to visit Japan'. So if you are either of them, Japan centre in London will serve you just fine. It's a grocery story; for all things Japanese (And Some Korean too), a restaurant, a mini book shop and everything in between. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. There is a hot food option but also a great range of Sushi, nigri and Shishimi with prices to reflect its location (Hamymarket, opposite Luxe Odeon). Overall worth a visit browse the shop and eat something from the restaurant and then off you go to do whatever you came to do in Leicester sq.

The Japan Center is always a safe choice; I believe everyone in London who enjoys ramen should visit this place at least once. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by the entire staff, welcoming you in. My friend is allergic to pineapples and when ordering, the waiter returned with a menu listing all the ingredients to ensure she approved of them for her dish. I haven’t seen that level of attention to allergies in any other restaurant, which I thought was quite nice and shows their concern for customers' well-being. As for the ramen, they were delicious as usual. I can’t recall the specific name of mine but it was something like Hamamatsu ramen. Regardless, all the ramen options here are very tasty. I wholeheartedly recommend it and commend the staff for their exceptional service.

Good place to have quick Japanese food during the day in Central London if shopping around or visiting. Do not expect great food and service. That said one can find interesting articles here. I bought a good bottle of Sake 🙌

All time fav place ever visited in London

I came across this grocery store by pure chance, and I really liked it. There is a wide choice of products (whether culinary or goodies), it was very nice!

Loved this place. I can see why it was so busy. I did buy a few things, too. I loved the mochi doughnuts!!! The downstairs had a very well stocked shop with food and household items. It was well priced and the staff were lovely. There is a small cafe and the food smells so good. If I had known about it, I would definitely have had lunch there, but I will do it next time!!!

Visited on April 8, 2018 A truly Japanese assortment! As expected of London! Although the prices are high, you can get many Japanese products!

Always crowded, vegetables were a great bargain! I got a variety of Japanese drinks but couldn’t get any in London.

I bought several things that I didn't need here which made me very happy.

This place used to be nice, but the prices have gone up so much and the service has become so poor. Two times in a row now I ordered complimentary hot food to eat in, each time it took over 20 mins for the food to be ready, and the staff didn’t even apologise. Both times it was not busy and there were plenty of staff in the kitchen area. Other customers having the same food got served earlier than me, very disappointing.
