You can almost forget that you're in a train station. I chose to eat at a table instead of the bar. But the food was great.

This is arguably one of London's most cyberpunk restaurants. At least, that's why I come here. Japanese food, neon, exposed pipes and ducts inside, open late, and based inside a train station. Ask nicely for a booth and you can look over seven or so trains at once coming in and out of Liverpool Street. I visit every few years, order a sashimi set and a flask of hot sake, and reflect on who and what has been coming and going from my life. If a lot has been happening I might also go for dessert. The food is uncomplicated and perfect. Classic sushi served beautifully without fuss or pretension. Simple and fresh ingredients, the same sashimi I imagine has been eaten in Japan since the 8th century. You cannot go wrong with anything you order here. It's more a waystation for me than a restaurant. A personal touchstone and place of contemplation. I have been eating here like this and previously in the Brighton branch for decades now. There is a sad story about separation and falling out with the Brighton branch. I don't want to dwell on it, that would be impolite. But it serves as a kind of psychic echo and backdrop to my own thoughts about friends and lovers I have known and lost throughout my life. R, C, M, M and J. I have remembered you all so fondly here, eating tuna and watching trains come and go. I miss you and love you all. Sometimes I see a couple parting or a family reuniting on a platform, and I think of us. 光陰矢のごとし. You are in my heart, always.

Excellent conveyor belt/kaizen sushi. I loved the salmon nigiri and the spicy tuna sashimi. Service was super attentive and always came with a smile. We spent around £75 (inc. service charge) for two people. 4 stars because the shrimp nigiri felt a little dry (would give 4.5 but can't).

I ordered online for picking up at 12:15. I arrived 15 minutes early at 12:00 and I asked can I get the sushi box which exists plenty in the counter. The lady asked me to wait until 12:15 and then many customers just walked in and pay for the same sushi box. Till 12:15 when I went to ask again, the lady grabbed one random box in the counter and handed to me. This is so ridiculous and when I asked why she said some excuse that she thought my order is some hot food. What a waste of 15 minutes. Please be professional if you are facing customer when you are working.

What a wonderful find in Liverpool Street Station! Food was delicious, and considering the location I thought prices were reasonable. We had 2 mains, 2 desserts, 1 sashimi platter, 2 sides and 2 drinks and it came up to £90. I was also really impressed by the staff for remembering it was my friend’s birthday, and putting candles on the dessert! (The “Happy Birthday” candle was our addition though). My favourite dish was probably the curry udon with vegetable tempura. The black cod was delicious but the portion was small - not unfair, considering it was only approx £8 on the menu & a starter size item.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime. We wanted to sit at the kaiten revolving sushi counter but there wasn’t space so they seated us at a table briefly and then moved us as soon as there was space. My children ate from the revolving counter and I had the lunch menu at £18 for an appetiser of sashimi and katsu curry donburi. We also had ankimo, crispy prawn heads and gyoza from the a la carte menu. The sushi chefs made us a special little bonus of salmon tataki lollipop nigiri. Awesome - stuffed!

I’ve never left a review anywhere despite being a foodie but I just had to with this place. I’m also a huge sushi fan and this Moshi Moshi made it to one of the worst sushi I’ve ever had. When the food came out, I didn’t even bother to take pictures because it didn’t look that appetizing to begin with. I also couldn’t even finish the 3 dishes that I ordered because it was THAT bad. Sad to say that I got food poisoning the day after. Details below I sat by the kitchen where I can see the sushi chefs prepping. The tempura used in the sushi was COLD. It’s been fried and sat out in this container for ages. The seaweed was STALE. I took a bite of my sushi and almost wanted to spit it out: imagine cold tempura with stale seaweed for your sushi. Disgusting I’m not someone to not finish their food, at the least I will take the leftovers home. This food tasted so bad that I could not keep eating I voiced my feedback to the worker and the most they could do was take off the service charge of £5. The next morning I felt sick and threw up. I got food poisoning from this place!! I will never return here, the food is pricey for what it is. I had such a bad experience here please avoid

TLDR - OKAY quality for takeaway, TERRIBLE value-for-money to eat in… For £30 pp - recommend MIKAYA (5 mins walk - other side of Liverpool Street station) ——— I have been a long standing customer of Moshi Moshi’s takeaway sushi and bento…. But I made a COSTLY MISTAKE eating in. I walked in seated at the convey belt. Only 3 raw fish nigiri selection at the time (yellowtail, salmon & tuna) and fish didn’t look fresh (from my eyes trained eating raw fish growing up in 🇦🇺). I had 2 plates of not very fresh yellow tail from the conveyor belt selection. Feeling hangry, I had no choice but to order other dishes hoping for a fuller stomach. With no menu offered at the seat, i thought to myself - luckily I took a picture of the menu stuck out front and orders the scattered chirashi bowl (marked £9.6 on the menu). Scattered bowl arrived - got me off guard like a scatter cat….. It came only with the same 3 not-so-fresh-fish, but more unfortunately, some strangely pickled white radish that took up 50% of the bowl, along with some pepper and browned salad leaf (??) which were inedible. This is the strangest bowl of japanese chirashi ever, but at £9.6 - I get what I paid for, I thought. The worst is yet to come - when I was paying, I realise that it was £17. They said It was not clearly marked on the shop front menu I said, met only by a smile of nonchalant by the cashier. I was more hangry leaving the shop before entering…. I wished I spent the money in Mikaya for less money and higher quality.

For the food quality, service and price, Moshi Moshi is an average 3 out of 5. It’s got a lot of things going for it but simply doesn’t deliver the experience you’d expect. When ordering, the waiter having to ask the chef if there was 3-kinds of sashimi available was a red flag (this was on a Thursday at around 7pm). The sashimi that arrived was dismal for £16. Moreover during the dining experience, a dish was mixed up and another never came. The staff were busy and trying their best. Waiter provided enthusiastic service and was proactive in resolving the mixups. The grilled yellow tail cheek was good and so were the soft shell crab and salmon skin hand rolls. Rest of the sushi was average although the hint of scallion / ginger garnish on the mackerel was an authentic touch. The faux unagi is not my cup of tea - why they don’t serve real unagi and tuna is good for the earth but bad for business. My advice to the restaurant would be to simplify the menu and be more open to the sourcing of ingredients. Ditch the sake warming jug which makes the 130ml hot sake serving become a lackluster experience (comes literally half full) and a heavier than necessary burden for staff. Consider getting an Asahi draft dispenser in a visible area - ditch the Kirin, Asahi, Sapporo options on the menu, especially if they aren’t in stock. The location and view from this restaurant is quite special. Hope it can improve and succeed. Update: ended up getting diarrhea after eating here. First time at a sushi place in London. Not good.

This place is a real disappointment. A very limited selection of plates on the sushi train. No sashimi plates on the sushi train at all. And the urimaki rolls are rasor-thin - for example, 2 very thin salmon and avocado urimaki for £3.50. Absurdly poor value when compared to the generous portions for the same price at Kulu Kulu (for example), and even compared to pricier joints like Youmi at Selfridges. And why put wasabi in the Nigiri when you can add it if you want it? If you don't want wasabi, you're stuck. Any Youmi place is better than this.

I went with a friend and we went for a set menu where we had sashimi, miso soup, salad and a main of sushi. The sashimi was pretty good actually. The miso soup and salad are pretty standard stuff nothing special. The reason I am rating this so low is that you can't call yourself a sushi restaurant when the sushi is that bad. The rice is off, it doesn't have the right taste, maybe a lack of vinegar. I think the restaurant commits to locally sourced fish but since the rice is already off, it tastes completely un-Japanese. To be fair to the restaurant, the location is gorgeous overlooking the station and the service is decent but if you've ever had sushi in Asia, don't order the sushi here.

I must have passed this restaurant located on the mezzanine floor of Liverpool Street station numerous times over the past 4 years since my discovery, always admiring the impressive oval wooden seating area that appears to be levitating on top of a bed of white pebbles. And after putting it on mental checklist of 'I must try this place someday' I finally dined in here today, mainly because it was raining and we didn't want to step out of the station. Plus they are taking part in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme. And after going through our substantial meal of edamame beans, miso Soup, sushi platters, chicken Teriyaki, rice & pickles, I did regret not eating here sooner. I have really craved Japanese cuisine during lockdown, unable to recreate the authentic flavours at home. And this place hit all the right notes, taking it's place in my top 3 Japanese restaurants in London.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality & freshness of the food including their strong environmental stance. Some people might find the food pricy but I have personally feel that this place offers value for money given the high quality of ingredients. I also discovered today that this restaurant has been around since 1994 & was the 1st of its kind to have Japanese food on a conveyor belt. It has truly stood the test of time. Plus I was amazed at how spacious it really is on the inside. I almost forgot that I was dining inside a station! If you enjoy good Japanese food and care about ethical/sustainable farming, then this place is for you. Service on the other hand was average and the servers could have been a little more attentive. And this why I gave my review a 4 star.

Smart it isn’t but the quality and value of the food more than makes up for drab surroundings on the mezzanine floor above London Liverpool Station. If you sit at the counter you can select individual dishes under bubble domes from the conveyer belt, price determined by the colour of the plate. You can watch the dishes being meticulously prepared. There is also a menu of cold and hot dishes from the kitchen. The Nasu Dengaku, baked aubergine with miso paste, was unctuous. My soft shell crab tempura was generous in size, a perfect balance of crisp on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside.

Never been to this restaurant before and after reading the reviews on Google, I decided to try it as I absolutely love sushi - though we all know not all Japanese restaurants in the UK do it right nor their ingredients are fresh etc. They offer a variety of seafood, fish, sushi and sashimi, which are at a reasonable price for their quality. I was so surprise/happy to see they offer uni sea urchin sushi (a set of 2 for £8), not all sushi places do uni but Moshi Moshi does it perfectly, tasted fresh and full of flavour!! I had to order another set before I got the bill - the staff Emily was very kindly to specially request the chef to make it right away, so that I had enough time to catch the train! Her kindness had fortunately made my day, and I will definitely return more often now I found this gem! Although I found the Salman roe a bit salty, the scallops were so tender and the portion of rice underneath was perfect!! Ahhhh, why couldn't I discover Moshi Moshi earlier!

We ordered the starter set, a sushi platter, a vegetable tapas set, a tonkotsu set and two maki rolls. Both the starter set and the vegetable tapas set were excellent. The fish on the sushi was fresh, but the rice was subpar. I will definitely go again.

I had a great time with my friends. We chose the Kamakura set which was delicious and filling. I enjoyed the black cod and sashimi so much. Join Moshi Moshi membership and you can get a free hamper for your birthday.

Visited for dinner, great menu, very fresh food, well prepped and excellent service. Deep fried prawn heads were a new one, very umami and worth a try. All round would def make the effort to revisit, bit of the beaten path, but I that adds to the experience. Will def revisit.

A nice sushi place. Kind of difficult to find, as is situated inside the Liverpol train station. We made a booking online, at the time of arrival they were just oppening. The staff vas very helpfull, giving on sugestions and knowing how to present their menu. The sushi were delicious, we ordered another portion after the first sharing experience. The drinks were Japanese and international as well. There is the possibility to “take away ”. Overall a nice sushi experience.

Went for lunch with a colleague for the first time in a while. The place is run down, upholstery coming through and bits of the conveyer missing. So now I’m wondering what else isn’t being maintained. I’ve been coming here more or less since it opened so it’s like seeing an old friend deteriorating.

We popped in here after work. The sashimi set was generous with lovely thick slices. Teriyaki beef was juicy and tender though sweet potato fries were a little cold. Soft shell crab tempura wonderful. Surreal to find such great cuisine in a train station overlooking platform 1. One of the amazing things about living in London!

Most people know this wording even if they don't know any other Japanese words. So a good marketing name. You will go here for the brilliant cook serving a good Japanese cuisine. A little noisy for business lunch. Do not miss the icecream...

Been to Moshi dozens of times. Frank who is one of the waiters will take great care of you. The service is impeccable and the food even better. Located on the second floor of the Liverpool train station, this restaurant is a most for either lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.

Such a shame as a big fan of this long standing restaurant and what founder Caroline set out to achieve

So the place is nice, casual, in the station. The view over the trains is not the best as the station is quite dirty, it is nice as casual sushi place but nothing more

GONE! Take away Yoshino- Use to be very good and reasonable. Now the prices have gone up and the portions diminished. They have very little in the late afternoon and won't make anything to order as they used to. I've suggested they take orders by email but it's calling or fax I'm afraid. Sad as I've been ordering from there for 15 years. Not anymore I'm afraid. If they modernise and become more reasonable perhaps in the future but not as is now.

I love to see all staff there who are so attentive and with great hospitality, food is coming fast enough, and there are plenty of choices we can try each time we come again, plus hygiene is really good too.
