Called in for a warming lunch midway through a wet & windy walk. Home made pea & ham soup & a roll hit the spot. The coffee we had was freshly brewed and of a decent quality. The people serving us were all very polite.

My partner and I visited the cafe midweek. Although it wasn’t very busy, it took a while to place our order. The cashier was slow to serve us, even though there was no queue, as she seemed preoccupied with chatting. After ordering, we sat down and waited around 45 minutes for a bacon barm and a beef barm. By the time the food arrived, we had already finished our drinks. Given how quiet the cafe was, the delay seemed unreasonable, and unfortunately, the food itself was of poor quality and lacked flavour. Regrettably, we won’t be returning and would recommend packing a lunch if you plan to visit Darwen Tower or the reservoirs.

I don’t usually write reviews but I feel the rudeness of the woman on the till cannot be ignored. She made us feel like we were a burden by merely daring to order, by giving a very clear impression she did not want to take our order and even going as far to make rude remarks to us.. Quite an awful experience. The food was frankly awful , so definitely not worth the rudeness.

We are members of the Britstops app as motorhome travelers. We kindly asked to top up our water tank as indicated on the app. The owner told us that he paid for the water and that it was not a campsite! Very rude and mean. We were going to order breakfast, too bad for him, very poor customer service. We left. You should review your reception conditions with the Britstops application! It's a lie.

First visit cause we wanted to walk round the reservoir. Good choice for a quick bite or more is great for us .. they do Spam muffins !! .. we had one of those and egg on toast plus tea for two .. £11.50 . Service is friendly and chatty .. will go back when we next visit . We parked in a small car park near the cafe .. we should have started our walk from there but we drove up to Abbey Village and parked there. Think it turned out to be a longer walk for us so we’ll start at the cafe next time . But whichever it’s a good way to start or end a walk round Roddlesworth . Also .. in the cafe there’s a brilliant one way viewing window where you can watch the birds on the feeders they have .. we saw a greater spotted woodpecker , nuthatch , robin, and a blackbird feeding it’s baby while we were there .. can’t wait till next time 👍

I entered the cafe extremely busy and waited patiently in the queue I had most visibility on my 2 dogs and glanced at the menu, as I was half way in the queue the cafe owner approached me and said one of my dogs has had a mishap assuming this was my dogs as I was the only one in the cafe with dogs and someone had stood in dog poo unbeknown. After I left the cafe I was still being slandered outside by two biker men and he was staring at me as he came with food for them. I took my dogs strolling and they had a poo each as soon as I stepped on grass and if anyone knows chihuahuas they poo usually once on a walk maybe twice over a long stroll it's minimal, I have been the cafe prior and it's never occurred. I 100 percent am not certain they even know if this was my dog and the whole approach around me was horrendous for a dog friendly cafe this could have been as simple as someone with a dog came in saw the queue and left or someone after food from the tables with a dog, no one witnessed my dogs doing the deed this was an assumption clearly as they walked in a mess I had to clean Infront of everyone, shocking approach,I have been a manager in retail seen actual human mess cleaned this discretely and addresses aside, this was risen to me in a queue Infront of loads of people and I was made to clean this alone Infront of people under an assumption, I left so quickly and did not eat and I had to sit with family uncomfortable while they had thier food edging to go for being a pet owner.

I've just called here again after a gap of several months and I'm sorry to say that it's gone downhill 😔 it took ages to place my order of just 2 toasted teacakes and 2 coffees despite only 4 people in front of me. It then took so long to get the teacakes we had drunk our coffee and were getting cold. I went back in to cancel it and they said they were just finishing them so waited. We were promised new coffees but after finishing the teacakes they'd still not appeared so we gave up and left. Extremely slow service I'd hate to see how they cope on a busy weekend! Lastly one of the teacakes had bearly any butter on it, it was almost dry. I did see her scraping the margarine tub out but expected her to open a new one, but obviously not! My advice is to give it a miss and pop over the road to the pub/cafe.

We have called in here several times now when out on drives. The food is always tasty and well priced. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A lovely country setting. My only grumble, and it is a small one, is I think 75p to add a bit of onion or tomato to a sandwich/toastie is a little steep when a sausage/blackpudding etc can be added to a breakfast or breakfast barm at the same price.

I went on friday with 10 colleagues from work. Abba tribute night. We were there on time 19.30. Took or orders all fine. By 21.15 still no starters. Others were finishing there desserts. Starters finaly came . Next was the main meal. Steaks all cooked to medium/well done. We had ordered medium rare. Asked for salad came with chips got told by waitress can you just not have that. I replied no. Which she then said. Can I just leave it there. I replied no. All sauces ordered at an extra £3 each came when meals were eaten. Then came the dessert order. Out of 11 of us 10 ordered desserts. By 10.45 2 had arrived. No more came. The only person that was interested in trying to sort our orders out was a young lad Alfie. Thank you Alfie. I'm not one to complain but flames have definatly missed out on any future work outings from us including our chrismas do. Terrible service. And as set menu had to all pay full price for half a meal £29.99 each. Did not even get to enjoy the entertainment of which we could not see due to seating and being so hungry waiting for our meal. Very disappointing
