Ralph's Wine Cellar & Delicatessen in Richmond upon Thames

We love Ralph's. Arguably the best wine tasting evenings and Ralph and his team go all out for the benefit and experience of customers. Top recommendations, unique cheeses and if you're a BBQ fan, must check out the hot sauces and rubs Ralph's has in store. We love it, been going for the last 2 years, hope to keep going for many more!

Fab choice in food, wine and everything else in between! Staff are always on hand to help and they always have a forever changing choice to choose from. Such a treat and so local as well!

We went to Ralph's on the 24.06.23 for a 'Feasting Board' platter and some beers. I noticed on their menu that a corkage of £2.50 for craft beers was applied. I decided to have a treat and went for a nice Siren/Trak craft beer even though I thought corkage was excessive (not even served in a chilled glass). After I finish my beer, I asked the attendant if the Helles Lager count as a craft beer and if that would have a charge of £2.50 each; he said they would not. So we had 4 of those. We paid the bill, got home and realised £12.50 had been charged for 5 beers. I wrote an email on that day but no reply came back, so I wrote again a week after, this time through their website contact link; no reply again! Then I called today 05.07 and managed to talk to Ralph Smith. He would not understand that his staff misinformed us and kept saying that every beer drank at his place has a corkage of £2.50 ignoring the wrong information his staff provided. Btw the platter was nice. Just a shame the abusive charging of corkage, the wrong info given and an owner incapable of understand a proper reason and accept a mistake. £10.00 worth of bad reviews and not very good word of mouth from the locals and ex-regulars? As a reference, places like the Brewery Market in Twickenham offering a whopping variety of craft beers charged no corkage at all, the Ghost Wale in Putney charges only £1.00 per craft beer.

This delightful Fine wine and delicatessen shop situated on the high street is definitely worth visiting. There is some indoor and outdoor seating if you wish to sit and have a glass of something in relaxed comfortable surroundings.

Five stars! as a proud resident of TW2 Whitton, I often find myself having to remind neighbours that I'm upper-middle class (i've a bachelors degree in media). This wine bar has given me a real depth. Sure i could buy wines here worth some £30 for £10 at the nearby lidl, but that's not the point! people are often very watchful in Whitton high st and it's always good practice to be seen buying expensive wines! It's a great place to shop!

Great place to enjoy a wide range of fine wines and to imbibe with friends. Personally I love the Helles Beer in the frosted glass.

Good selection of wines and beers, which can a consumed in store. The snacks are just right and a good accompaniment to the drinks. The staff are knowledge and friendly, price are reasonable.

Pretentious for what it is and disappointing service levels from the supervisor. It is not good value for money but there is nowhere else in Whitton to go.

I love Ralph’s ; it’s so much more than just a wine shop. You can sit and drink a glass of wine with a plate of cheese watching everyone rushing by. All the wines in the shop may be consumed on the premises with a corkage fee. There’s a lovely choice of foods from the deli or shelves. The fortnightly wine tastings are an absolute hoot and get booked up very quickly. This is a real gem in the high street. Long May it remain.

I have to thank the young staff for their exceptional service. Thanks to them we found some exciting new wines. We were not that enthusiastic about the food - the mezze platter was a bit boring. Cheese one was ok. The main issue of the evening were our extensively noisy neighbors who subjected us to their rather vocal conversations.

Don’t go here for coffee, even if it the only place open on the High Street after 5pm on Sunday, drink out of a dog bowl outside the Admiral Nelson instead and save yourself £10. Appalling.

Great shop for picking up your food and wine supplies. They also have regular wine tasting so check that out too.

Fantastic addition to Whitton. Nice to have anywhere to sit of an evening and enjoy a really good glass of wine (white burgundy my fav) and some nibbles (nachos are good). Excellent selection of food and treats that are perfect presents for the foodies in your life

Glorious evening at the Portuguese Night! Ralph certainly looked after us! The atmosphere here is always cosy with Ralph making you feel like part of the family. The staff are very knowledgeable and attentive answering all and any questions and the cheese and nibbles which went alongside the wine tasting worked perfectly. If you're looking for a wine tasting without pretention yet still offering a brilliant range this is the place for you.

Ralph's advised on and provided me with a selection of British and French cheeses for my party. The cheeses were excellent; indeed, the guests snapped up all of the left-overs much to the dismay of my partner! Friendly and knowledgable staff, highly recommended!

Lovely place to buy some quality wine, alcohol, cheeses or sample some of the products. Nice, knowledgeable staff. You should definitely ask for the "Boatyard Gin" very nice, clean and neat gin. Lovely bottle, great as a gift Highly recommended for any drink related shopping.

Good selection of cheese, wine, and artisan beers. Service was better but last time my friends and I visited, to sit and have drinks, the staff seemed distracted and we had to ask for things several times before they got it right. Overall a nice place though.

I went with my other half for a beer, cheese & sausage night, and had a brilliant evening. The guy had excellent beer knowledge, the food was delicious and the beers were varied and interesting. Most of all the atmosphere was great, the staff super friendly, and we met some interesting beer loving people who were great. Whitton is damn lucky to have such an awesome place to buy, eat and drink. Def coming again ☺

I first stumbled into Ralph’s on New Years Eve at the crack of dawn on the off chance it would be open. My task: to find a passable non alcoholic fizz for NYE as I was working the night shift. I was not disappointed. Ralph was friendly, knowledgeable and not at all pushy. I promised I would come back. And I did. A couple of months ago, I wandered back in again with my mum, and I haven’t looked back. It’s got lovely a selection- they mix up the menu so it encourages you to try new flavours. The staff are friendly (thank you Chris, and Alfie in particular)! And the deli selection is great. We recently went in for a Spanish wine and cheese tasting evening and yet again, were not disappointed. A great selection of things I wouldn’t have normally gone for, great company and very informative. The wonderful thing about Ralph’s is that you can walk in there, sit down, and come out with new friends. It’s so friendly! Well done Ralph and the team. A cracking team, and I wish you the best of luck for many years to come!

Ralph’s holds regular wine tasting evenings, with six wines paired with cheese or other foods. I attended the Portuguese tasting on 7 March 2018, which was really good, with six excellent wines well paired with cheese (admittedly not all Portuguese). This was the 3rd such tasting my wife and I have attended and they have all been great. On a more regular basis, Ralph’s is a good place to shop for high quality wine, great cheese and a good selection of deli products.

Like so many others, we were delighted when this lovely place opened on the once-drab High St. The whole area is improving all the time and this place is a little jewel. We've popped in to stock up on goodies, filled our Xmas hampers with beautiful treats, and most fun of all, attended the fabulous Wednesday night themed wine and food evenings. The interesting and delicious delights at these nights - and the interesting background info around the wines and cheeses - makes for delightful fun and informative evening. They are also great value. We have already booked for the Portugal night!

Okay, not a restaurant but you can get a decent glass of wine, with snacks, across the day. And their wine and food pairing evenings are good fun with decent sustenance. Good wines on sale at Ralph's Wine Cellar and a good chance to try something different from what you get in those supermarket shops. Very friendly staff, knowledgeable also, and helpful. Someone mentions below that Ralph and Chris have impeccable taste in wine and beer. This is true, but Chris also has impeccable taste in music and is often playing some great albums from artists that you rarely hear played outside of someones fantastic record collection. Mine, perhaps. Good selection of Spanish wines, Ralph's area of expertise, and a good selection of wines by the glass, should you fancy stopping by and relaxing for 45 mins, (approximate timing, other timings are available). A great shop in a nice little village.

Besides the fantastic selection of wine, champagne, cider and even beer the food on offer is out of this world. I am rather partial to the cheese on toast, eating in its to die for! I Shop here regularly, Ralph and Chris are quite the connoisseur's and have impeccable taste be it a gorgeous red wine or beers from off the beaten path The olives meats and other little gems are all worth a punt. Definitely worth treating the other half to a glass or two in whilst eating some of the many delights they offer! Be aware, it can work out a little costly if you get carried away! But well worth it. Order in that special ketchup guys!

Attended the Argentinian Wine Tasting event last night. Very very pleasant evening, loved the wines and thought the food combined extremely well. Enjoyed meeting other local people and good to meet Ralph and his enthusiasm for what he does. Also think all the staff are very friendly. What an asset to our little Village of Whitton.

This has become a favourite haunt of ours for a glass of wine and more often than not, one of their superb cheese boards. Our visits could now become much more frequent having sampled their range of cocktails last night - each one individually tailored to your taste. Fantastic.

So lucky to have this in Whitton. Great selection of wines, beers and food along with great staff. Where else can you go shopping with a great cold glass of wine in your hand!?!? Great

Last week, I went with a friend to one of the monthly wine tasting evenings at Ralph's. I didn't know what to expect - it was billed as wine and cheese tasting but in fact it was so much more. Yes there was cheese, but each time there were others dishes as well and it was excellent - different dishes with each wine to demonstrate what goes with what. We were served a range of wines varying from £8 to £17 - all very good. Highly recommended event.

Great place, yummy food and wine and well worth a visit, really enjoyable to eat in or you can pick. It's up for home. Lovely place

I have visited Ralph's Wine Cellar on a number of occasions now, not only to purchase a bottle of wine or pick up some wonderful treats, but also to attend the wine tasting evenings. This week I attended my third wine tasting evening and once again Ralph and his team delivered an excellent event! Not only have I learned something new on each visit, but there has also been a different selection of wines, lovely cheeses and other snacks to try each time. All three evenings that I have attended have been fun, educating and well organised and Ralph and Chris certainly know a lot about wine and cheese! Alongside the wine tasting, there are lots of other treats in store...many that wont be found in your typical supermarket or high street shops so definitely worth taking the time to pop in and take a look!

Cheese and wine was absolute perfection! I would highly recommend Ralph's Wine Cellar to anyone in need of some good wine and fun!

Attended a Spanish Wine tasting here yesterday evening with my wife and 2 friends. What a great way to spend a few hours - lovely tapas, quality wines, good company, and extremely knowledgeable and attentive staff. Ralph's passion for wine is infectious yet not too high-brow as to become overly pretentious or stuffy.

The sparkling wine tasting evening was really great fun. Great choices to try accompanied by lovely food. Good opportunity to get to know other locals as well. The presentation is interesting and informative without being stuffy and boring. This place has a brilliant deli to purchase all kinds of unusual produce and an excellent selection of wines. Good to have a nice glass/bottle of wine and snack in the evening or lunchtime!

Sparkling wine, sparkling company! Fine selection of bubbly - champagne, cava, prosecco and bubbly from Kent ((I'm not not sure about that one!) Amazing cheeses too. Informative visiting speaker - nice chap, didn't make you feel you should know more than you do, just to enjoy each sip ( wish I could remember his name). A good night was had by all.

We had a fab evening sampling Ralph's finest bubbles, cheeses and other goodies. Such lovely products, often stumbling across great quality items that are hard to find locally.

This is a great wee wine & beer shop/delicatessen. I've been in here in the day time to pick up some stuffed vine leaves (love those things!) but I went with the other half last night for the first time to try the sit-in wine/craft beer/cheese & snack menu. I was really impressed with the staff knowledge and helpfulness in recommending a wine & cheese combo based on what we said we liked. My hubby had some of the craft beer (you pick from the shelf & they add a small corkage fee) and I had a small glass of white wine which was lovely. They have an interesting selection of red, white & rose wines by the glass (including a sparkling white & rose choice) and some tasty accompanying food-cheeses/meats/olives etc.

A great addition to Whitton High Street. Lots of lovely wines and beers, and an interesting selection of cheeses and foods. I love the stuffed vine leaves and the various chutneys. Most nights of the week they are open till about 9pm (I think) and you can buy wine by the glass (and the craft beers by the bottle) with cheeses/meats and various other snacks. We went last night for a wine/beer & snacks before going out for dinner. The staff were really helpful & knowledgable, recommending a wine & selection of cheeses based on what we said we liked/didn't like. I was really impressed with what we ended up with (I'm still thinking about the glass of white wine I had) & will definitely will be back with friends. I'm on the email-mailing list and they have been running cheese & wine tasting evenings which I haven't been to yet but they look like they could be fun. They've done a few craft beer tastings too and when we enquirer about it they said they could organise one for a private event too if you had enough people interested. Anyway, in summary, a good place to buy nice wines and beers and a lovely place to sit in for sampling some of the produce that they stock.

Good selection of wines from around the world. Stocks lots of unusual craft beers and lagers, Icelandic to small craft English brewers. Specialises in Spanish foods and cheeses from Europe. Few tables inside and outside where you can try a small selection of tapas. Can be busy so getting a table can be tricky but worth trying. Wide selection of wines to try and a couple of bottled beers. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to help you find the right wine, talk about new stock.

Went here a couple of nights ago with some friends to try out this wine shop cum bar for the first time and was very pleased to find somewhere this good locally. It was a lovely sunny evening and the staff bought out enough tables and chairs so we could all sit outside. Service was pleasant and helpful, the white wine was good and the snacks were excellent - can recommend the homemade houmous.

A great evening relaxing enjoying wine & cheese in the company of Ralph and Chris. Their passion for wine and cheese is tangible and infectious. The quality of the wine and food is tremendous. A brilliant way to enjoy a Wednesday evening.

We are so pleased that this lovely wine bar is local for us. We visit fairly regularly and the owner Ralph and the rest of the staff are great. Very knowledgeable about the wine, beers and produce. Great choice of wines served along with lovely tasty food on the menu and also to purchase from the large selection in the shop.

This is a superb new wine shop / delicatessen in Whitton High Street that opened early in 2016. It has a terrific selection of quality wines (especially strong on Spanish wine), and beers and a fine delicatessen with a great selection of cheese, hams and lots more. Friendly knowledgeable staff. A great place to stop and have a glass of wine.

My report on this little gem of a place is long overdue as I have enjoyed the pleasure of experiencing Ralph's Wine Cellar on numerous occasions.

Had a fab time at Ralph's Wine Cellar on Saturday.! A great new find. Stumbled across it on my afternoon stroll and ended up having a few glasses of amazing wine outside along with a food platter. Seriously good cheese, ham and olives! I will definitely be back!!!!

My wife and I recently popped in to Ralph's Wine cellar to see what all the fuss about this new place on the Whitton High St was and to our amazement this place has the most fantastic selection of wine, cheese, pickles and continental meats that you could possibly imagine! Not only that you can grab a seat and taste the wines and be delighted by the treats on offer before you make a very difficult decision on what to buy.

Delicious deli style nibbles and cheeses, good quality wines, beers, ales and expert friendly advise on hand. Plus a little wine bar.... What's not to love!
