I was disappointed on my last visit. I ordered a takeaway and when I went to pick it up the lady was very annoyed with me that I couldn’t pay cash. She wanted me to go to the cash machine but when I refused she finally produced the card reader from beneath the counter. It’s a shame really as the food is quite good but the experience was ruined because they don’t want to pay tax

We had a great time and the staff was super friendly and authentically Japanese in their service of the sake and soy sauce. Sushi was really nice as usual, with very large and fresh sashimi pieces. We’ve been here a lot, also ordered and collected and have always been happy with the quality.

Nice food, good service, quirky decor and atmosphere. Overall a great addition to Kenilworth's high street. A good mix of small dishes that are really hard to choose from and bigger favourites like curries and ramen. A good mix of Japanese food.

My friend recommended me this japanese restaurant. I went there with my family the food serviced here is delicious especially the miso soup, squid tempura are my fav starters. The main course ebi Katsu curry and teppanyaki prawn noodles must try. It is one of the best japanese food I tried in my entire life. Again I am going to visit this place.

This is the best place to try Japanese food. I ordered California roll with my family it is the best sushi I ate in my life. And I loved spicy Korean chicken and honey cheese chicken it was so delicious. I recommend this restaurant to everyone must try these foods.

Food was okay at best. Ordered the tonkotsu and it came in a miso broth. Thought we’d give it a try and then remembered why tonkotsu is made with tonkotsu broth.

Expensive for ordinary non authentic Japanese food. Music too loud to get waiters attention or ordering food without having to raise our voice. The manager or owner was a bit grumpy. Charged £1 per container for leftover food to take away. Ordered too much unfortunately. Not coming back.

Ordered a take away and wasn’t overly impressed. The miso soup was very bland and the belly pork skewers were tiny and very dry. Expensive for the quality of food, not sure that I’d go again unfortunately.

I have been twice now. For an evening meal and today for unch. Food and service was excellent. The flavours tasted pretty authentic to me. Wish there were more deserts options, however was too full to order pudding. Would recommend for tasting, portion size, value and atmosphere. Staff lovely and attentive .

Ten of us went there in a Saturday afternoon for lunch. We ordered one main course for each of us and same dishes to share. We needed to chase some of the main courses several times and eventually some were wrong. Food was no good but quite expensive.

Early evening, so quiet. Staff lovely. Possibly what I ordered but the main course was a little sweeter than I like. BUT the teriyaki octopus balls were fabulous. Some of the best I have tasted

Easy access. 5 minutes from the parking areas. A place where you can have a good time. You can find Japanese food and drinks. Prices are normal.

Dined here on a Friday evening, started out quiet as we came around 6:30pm but it gradually got more busy as the evening went by - a clear sign of how popular it is. My partner and I ordered loads of food but it was so worth it. Started with the rainbow rolls sushi, chicken skewers, pork belly skewers, pork gyoza and vegetable tempura. We also ordered the spicy Korean pork and teppanyaki beef, both of which came with a bowl of rice. The food was delicious and we left feeling stuffed and satisfied. It’s a bit expensive but worth it for an occasional treat.

Today my family birthday party go raku 57 ,amazing sushi ! We order volcano roll and mango sushi roll very fresh so nice ,we are love raku 57 we will back soon! And we eat nice birthday Ice cream!lovely

Very busy cosy restaurant in Kenilworth and it's proving very popular with the locals. It serves a comprehensive range of Japanese dishes that are in vogue today. All the dishes we ordered turned out to be very 'oishi'...(tasty in Japanese)! Service was very attentive and knowledgeable about items on the menu. I was slightly disappointed to note that apart from one member of staff, none of the others were Japanese...I was hoping to practice my rudimentary language skills! This is no way detracted from our overall experience and we emerged from the restaurant replete and relaxed!

It was okay. The karaage and ramen were nice but the sushi was mediocre. The tamago nigiri was ginormous! The server brought us over a California roll (which is like £14), which we didn't order. Luckily I had our order written down so he couldn't argue the case. The wait staff were overly attentive until they weren't attentive at all and I had to go and find someone. It's not a bad place it's just really mediocre, you can find much better for the same money.

I live locally and have been 2 or 3 times now. The food and service has always been good. It is expensive but that's sushi! Deserves a much better rating than they currently have in my opinion

We booked for Saturday lunchtime and were pleased to see it so busy. Lots of families and a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the whole experience, food was very tasty (and lots of it) and service was good. We look forward to coming back soon

Popped in today for a family lunch (4 of us in a group ) , had an absolutely lovely time, food was AMAZING! Very friendly and attentive service. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a decent place to eat out!

Restaurant with excellent quality and seemingly authentic Japanese food. A little on the pricy side but this was fine given the quality. Was thoroughly enjoyed, had the chicken kara age curry and spicy tonkotsu ramen as mains both excellent with tempura vegetables and takoyaki as sides. Little one had a side of plain rice and chicken meatballs which was also enjoyed but no kids menu. The server mis-copied down the main which I ordered (they asked for numbers not dish names) they wrote 519 when I ordered 516 but the dish was excellent regardless. Might ask next time to confirm which numbers they had copied.

We only got 5 dishes and the total came to £75! The food was terrible except for the California rolls and the portions were tiny. We wouldn’t have paid £75 but the waitress gave us the card machine before telling us the price, do not come here.

What a fantastic meal! Both me and my husband love both Japanese and Korean food and were so excited to hear somewhere close to us had opened. It's fair to say Raku exceeded all our expectations. The food was absolutely devine, all cooked to perfection. Our favourites of the night were the lamb chops and the Korean fried chicken, though even the avocado maki was the freshest we've ever tasted. The cocktails were fantastic and there's a huge range of saki and other traditional drinks. We ended the night with a soba tea that was so comforting, we're planning on buying some for home! The service was wonderful and they really made us feel so comfortable. Couldn't recommend it more and will certainly be back soon with our friends.

AVOID Had been wanting to try this new-ish Japanese restaurant for a while, and now I wish I'd never visited. The service was fine, if a little emotionless, we were seated and poured a glass of tap water each. The atmosphere was fine, it was a late lunch, the decor was more sake bar than restaurant. We looked over the menu, still donning sprigs of holly on each corner (Christmas surplus printing), and picked a few dishes to share, ranging from £6 to just over £9 each. The first dish arrived very quickly, worryingly so. Korean Honey Cheese Chicken, was piping hot chicken pieces, we suspect frozen and either fried or microwaved, covered sparingly with a weak creamy sweet sauce, not pleasant or unpleasant, just weird. Pumpkin croquettes followed, uniformly moulded and piping hot in the centre. They tasted bland, and I suspect were deep fried from frozen, if not microwaved. Next came two very sad and disappointed bao buns, chicken and bbq pork. A microwaved bao bun with a token iceberg lettuce piece, chili sauce and cucumber slice and two pieces of the same fried chicken as before, and the two small thin sad tasteless pieces of pork in the other, £6.50 and £6.80 respectively I recall. My partner had a Korean pear juice that came in a funky can, which was poured tableside and removed before we could have a look at it, which was nearing £4. All in all, we were ravenous so ate the food, but it was disappointingly bland, uniformly tasting and clearly not worth the price charged. We arrived, ate and left within 30 minutes, it was practically a drive through. We will not be returning or recommending. We love Japanese food, and if you're in the area and looking for a good one, I cannot recommend Nana's on Regent Street, Leamington Spa enough for authentic tasty Japanese food,and Hayashi on Warwick Street, Leamington Spa for Sushi. If you can't get a table with either of these places, wagamamas in Leamington is still a better choice than Raku. Or if you want a memorable meal in Kenilworth, try Tambayan, a Filipino restaurant. Incredible.

The food was amazing. The salmon tempanyaki, I had japanese sausages and the salmon avocado prawn sushi. It went well with the saki and My attendant Tina was amazing. Happy and communicates well. Was my first time. Hope to drop in again soon.

A below average experience. We visited for a slightly late lunch at 13:40 and were out of the building by 14:10, which is something I've never experienced. Service was quick, worryingly quick. Perhaps 3 minutes after we ordered, the first dish came out which was honey and cheese chicken. It was OK, passable. Soon after came the pumpkin tempura, pork bun and chicken bun. The buns both had the same flavour, which was overwhelmingly sriracha mayo. The pumpkin tempura was piping hot indicating it has come fresh out of a microwave, which funnily enough all had the identical shape to them indicating perhaps frozen. It's not a bad place, the staff were perfectly friendly, however there are so many other Japanese restaurants of a better standard in the local area, such as Nana's, Hayashi or even Wagamama.

Absolutely shocked with the awful verbal abuse we received today. As 1 out of 6 of our dishes was unpleasant, and charred. When mentioning this, the polite servers informed the chef and tried to address it. However, the “chef/owner/manager” came out and started shouting about why we are wrong, and that it could not be taken off the bill. whilst explaining, he continued to sarcastically insult every point mentioned. My husband was furious at this point and told him to remove himself and we would pay for our bill minus this particular dish. He then started shouting again saying he would call the police! We sternly informed him that this was our first time at this restaurant and most definitely our last! We then settled the outstanding balance and left. Such a shame as other dishes were delicious, we also had recently moved into the area and we’re looking for a local Japanese restaurant. This is a great restaurant on the high street. The food is fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. We've been here a few times already and cannot wait to go again soon.

Food was tasty, if a little samey and overcooked, and the place is friendly and buzzy enough, but I was disappointed about the value. The prices are high. Portions are small, occasionally outrageously so. Also, £29 for a bottle of terrible non vintage Shiraz that probably cost £4 wholesale is not ok. If it cost more than £4 you need a new buyer.

The restaurant has so much potential in Kenilworth, it’s so unfortunate the service was diabolical and the manager was rude, disrespectful and refused to understand the severity of the mistake. We went to Raku 57 for my birthday meal, what a way to celebrate. Being a vegetarian due to religious reasons, I was served pork gyoza and when informing the manager of this, he refused that was the case and reassured it was vegetarian. After going back to the chef, he confirmed it was in fact pork and apologised in a blunt manner. I understand mistakes happen, however it was how the issue was dealt with - no empathy. When addressing the lack of compassion he then went to say “do you want me to cry” what a joke. Like I said, the restaurant has massive potential but lack’s basic hospitality.

Went for a midweek lunch treat and had one of the bento box specials. It was fab. The strawberry lemonade was delicious, too. We will be back to try the evening menu soon. Great service as well.

Had a lovely meal here last night - everything we tried was full of flavour and we couldn't get enough! No faults about the food and the same with the service - very attentive and helpful staff who went out of their way to discuss dietary requirements and even mark applicable items on the menu. Relaxed atmosphere too. Can't wait to come again!

A very trendy restaurant that is decked out in a traditional japanese style. There is not as large a selection of sushi available as typical sushi restaurants but what they had was delicious. Fish was really fresh and big portions. The waiters were attentive and helpful. Overall great - the best in the area

Really enjoyed our meal here tonight. We had about 7 small dishes between the two of us and all were really good and it all came nice and quickly and all tasted hot and fresh.

I was very excited to see Kenilworth getting a Japanese restaurant as I'm a frequent visitor to Japan and love their cuisine. I was especially pleased to see they had chicken meatballs on the menu as its rare to find them in UK-based Japanese restaurants. We ordered a selection of yakitori skewers alongside some gyoza and rice, they were all delicious! Well certainly be back again to try more of their menu soon 😊

Our first time here. The service was fantastic and the food was tasty. The sashimi was cut weirdly thick and the chicken karage was a little dry but the Spicy pork was delicious and the sushi rolls were tasty. It seems the service has completely changed from previous reviews because it was great.

If you are into Asian food, more specifically Japanese food you'll find the food here painfully average and pricey, with some of the servers a bit on the clumsy side (maybe it was a new hire), but overall the food is not worth the price, it was the first and last time I went.

Very pretty interior but that’s about it. The food was very bland and quite pricey, not worth it at all. The Takoyaki was very disappointing: not crispy at all, almost gluey, had about 0.25% octopus in it and it was missing the tuna flakes on top. Same thing with the pork gyoza, the dough was definitely undercooked, although the sauce was great. We only went in because it seemed like most places were closed. I love Japanese food and this was just sad. Don’t recommend.

An amazing edition to the Kenilworth food scene! We made a last minute decision to visit Raku57 without a booking, and were not disappointed. We had the prawn tacos, mackerel nigiri, salmon sushi rolls, tempura squid, prawn buns, chicken skewers and 2 bowls of ramen. All dishes were amazing in quality and flavour, and well worth the price. 100% will be visiting again!

The food here is incredibly delicious and the service we got from the staff was amazing, working near by I have wanted to eat here since it opened, and thought to myself it's Christmas so I will treat myself and it did not disappoint, I think eating here might become a habit

Delicious, fresh food and friendly service. The menu is quite extensive and varied with lots of tempting dishes. I had takeaway but the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, will sit in next time.

Chicken was undercooked in the middle, a patch of red with pink flesh going outwards from the centre. When I pointed this out there seemed to be some confusion understanding my concerns. After some reluctance, I was given 2/3 of a deconstructed new meal. Had to ask for the rest of it and build it myself. I was told the Chicken had been injected with soy sauce as some sort of odd explanation. This did not seem apparent anyway. There was no sentiment of regret or understanding that undercooked chicken is not nice to eat and a hazard. Mistakes can happen but if you don't accept a mistake the chances of reoccurring problems are increased. I had some painful cramping starting about 2.5 days afterwards. The place was empty, so there was no rush to process the order even. If the food had taken twice as long to arrive it would have still been fast. I have no faith that this was a useful learning experience so here we go... Cut chicken uniformly. Check oil/cooker cooking temp with an IR thermometer. Set timer and optimise checking the product until you find a winning combination. Occasionally, things will go wrong, accept and say sorry. Take away the meal and be flexible as possible to offer something that makes the customer feel as happy as possible. Make it clear you understand the risks or unhappyness and and take it seriously. Consider goodwill by cutting the bill or offering a free tea or something. Mistakes can have positive outcomes when handled correctly.

Really good food though few dishes could be improved on (the Korean chicken is good but not amazing and the prawn tempura could do with a bit more colour) Staff seemed a bit junior and struggling to advise us at times but I guess these are teething problems for a new business. Overall very good experience, reasonable price and we will come again!
