We were staying in Wookey for a couple of days and wanted to find somewhere to eat in Wells. This place did not disappoint! We’d seen some other positive reviews so thought we’d give it a go. We parked in Princes Road car park which is free after 1800. It doesn’t look 100% appealing from the roadside but the restaurant is upstairs. Service was spot on, food was delicious and portion sizes were good. If you want a proper British curry house, this is it. Will definitely visit again when in Wells.

Very basic decor but good service and nice food

This eatery primarily serves delectable North Indian cuisine. Their Biryani and Kebabs come highly recommended. The staff adds to the pleasant experience with their amiable service. Sometime, the staff spoke with loud voice in the kitchen which can disturb the customers.

Superb food, competitively priced and excellent service. We shall return!

Wonderful meal and amazing service!!

First few times I went hear the food was 10/10 and last couple ones we had recently have really gone down hill, the chicken vindaloo was gross, really salty and the rest was just not up to par, really bland and greasy, and the lime pickle was like mush and not fresh, is a shame because they can usually provided really good quality food. Don't know what happened but unfortunately wont be going back again. Waste of money!

Best curry in town. Madras is out of this world, staff are great, cheap drinks for a city centre restaurant, food can't be beaten. After going to Ajwa this was like a different league, food and service the best in town. Can't recommend more highly. If you are in Wells and like curry then don't waste time or money just go to Rajahs.

Great menu variety, authentic and tasty Indian food and very friendly service

Popped into this non-obvious take-away like shop while spending the night in Wells. The dining room is upstairs so we can't see if there's any customers. We picked a couple of their Sunday/Monday meal deals. Happy to see an amazing curry house with some originality, yet still keeping the tradition of British curry intact. The rice is basmati, the naan is fluffy. The meat tikka is tender and flavorful. All quality ingredients and taste home cooked. The portions are generous. Nice find in a little town.

Absolutely fantastic food! We did the Sunday special, starter, main, side and rice or nan bread for£13.95. Superb is all I can say. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

We moved out of London three years ago and have been searching Somerset for a good Indian restaurant since. After several mediocre experiences we were so delighted to have such a fantastic meal. The food was wonderful, naan was fluffy and crunchy, curries were rich and flavourful, the sides just delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough, honestly delighted, will be back regularly.

VERY nice food, at excellent prices, in a nice-enough-but-a-little-tired setting. Only slightly spoiled by a loud family with many children allowing them to run around like it was a playground. Otherwise very good, will revisit.

Update - still getting marketing texts from them despite asking numerous times for them to stop. Absolutely no regard for GDPR. Whatever you do, don’t give them your mobile number - despite asking several times I am still getting marketing text messages from them.

In the quaint town of Wells, Rajah's provides an explosion of Indian flavour in your mouth. Everything we ordered was delicious and fairly priced. Would 100% recommend.

Disappointed. Ordered a takeaway by phone and mentioned the Sunday deal when ordering only to be told on collection the offer applies only to dining in when I checked the price as it appeared very high. Didn't seem to care when I checked either and confirmed my disappointment. Lots of food but mediocre quality for the money.

Very small tired looking building tables we're a bit squashed together it was very basic inside. Two members of staff serving but it wasnt very busy...one was very friendly the other was not. The food was ok I had vegetable massala and it was very sweet ...I've been to better Indians

Sometimes 5 Star reviews come across as gushing and a single visit that went well. So this is after my second visit on consecutive nights. First night was solo as my partner was working, chicken tikka pakora and naga chicken. The naga chicken stood out, so rich, flavourful, lovely spice hit. So impressed. So, the next evening when my partner was free, we both went - at my insistance. Another exceptional meal, and once again, for me the naga chicken delivered. My partner loved her dishes. This time we had the garlic naan bread aswell and both were superb. I work in blandford forum and live in mid Wales, and I would happily make a detour for this restaurant on my way home for a bite to eat. It's that good - if you knew the roads you have the travel between the two, you could really understand how good I think it is. If you like Indian food, this is a little gem nestled in Wells. Great wait staff, great food (at least the naga, aloo and fish starter). To the chefs, wow 👌.

I've never had a bad experience here. Always a good quality indian. It's a shame about no delivery but worth the 5 min drive! Great if you don't fancy cooking in the evening!

went here for dinner for my dads 60th birthday was 9 of us and was lovely had such a nice meal staff were incredible two men didn’t get their names but they were great kept coming over to check on us and were there if we needed anything very attentive and food was stunning never had an indian so good:) thankyou.

A life saver when we visited Wells on Boxing Day. We did not make any bookings and it was raining at the time. The restaurant is upstairs, but we managed to park our pram in the small porch downstairs of the restaurant. Staff was very friendly and attentive. They prepared a high chair for our baby and able to accommodate table for 4 adults whilst having a big group of customers at the main room of the restaurant. The service was excellent! They got our orders prepared very quickly and to our surprised the food was plenty. All their biryani comes with vegetable curry. That's why our table was full. The food was delicious and we definitely recommend this to all our friends and family when visiting Wells. They also have toilet facilities for gents and ladies on the second floor. Unfortunately, they only have 1 cubicle each so you may have to queue during busy time.

Cramped and busy but they served us quite quickly. Not quite as good as Ajwa but a little cheaper.

The food was amazing, my only issue I had with it was the bathrooms (bit cramped) but given its also a takeaway you can enjoy it from home.

I am Indian . This place is where l had one of my worst experience with Indian food …..what a shame to Indian culinary …..chicken tikka masala was a sugar syrup….. they don’t put any effort or care to their food . Porata is thick like a wood slab…..🙄🙄

Found this quite by accident on a hunt for an open Indian restaurant one Tuesday evening! Food was fabulous, very authentic & service was great. There's only a small entrance with seating on the first floor. I would have to recommend this place.

We had a wonderful meal here last night, it was delicious and what we had left we where able to take home. The service was excellent and we were made to feel as if no request was to small, I would happily go back. It was busy and the seating is limited, so I would recommend booking in advance if a group of you are out and about, but take away is also available.

A tourist in town for the night. Fancied a takeaway curry and chose this place. Excellent food, good portions, all hot and tasty. Would use again if in the town.

Ate there last night and I can honestly say it's one of the best meat birianis I've ever had. The lamb was so tender and there was so many big chunks of it, I shared some with my boyfriend.

Not what we were expecting, but that might have been us. Came out very highly recommended on TripAdvisor so we went, seeing we didn't know the area. Very basic, runs mostly on takeaways, no 2m distancing. We'd booked online before we arrived. People came in and where asked if they'd booked, but body language said otherwise. Then 8-10 others who did book arrived and had to wait ages or walk away.

Used rajah for 25 years. not large restaurant. Good curry house.its on the first floor of building so no wheelchair access.

Delicious food and the meal deal (starter, main, side dish and bread or rice for £12.99 on Sunday & Monday evenings) is unbeatable value. Staff were friendly and attentive, but could have cracked a smile. Little attention to COVID hygiene measures which is concerning...

This is NOT good indian food. Since i am indian, i know what good Indian food is. Food is way too oily, not enough flavour and the service was not great. If you want real good Indian food outside of india, only place is in london.

The food was very good but I was dissapointed to see no cleaning of tables other than a wipe with a cloth between bookings. There was no sanitiser in use and the mood seemed to be get people in and out as quick as possible

Ate here using the Eat out to help out scheme. Booked beforehand and glad we did - the restaurant was full the whole time we were there. Quick, polite service and amazing food - I have been to many Indian restaurants and this is easily in the top three!

Fantastic food, would have got 5 stars if there had been any attempt to adhere to government guidelines as it was just 'business as usual' even though they were benefitting from the eat out to help out scheme. Diners close together, tables cleaned with 'Mr Sheen' between sittings. Clearly not on board with this fight.

Nice food, tasty and good quality ingredients. Comfortable and cosy small restaurant upstairs and seating followed social distancing rules. There are vegan options but a bit limited especially with starters and types of rice dishes that are vegan.

Completely concur with all reviews, feel lucky to be a Wells inhabitant and have Rajah as our local for delicious Indian food. Lightning fast prep no matter the size of the order, always piping hot, fresh veg and quality ingredients. Each curry is an excellent example of its type, as good as those we have had on our travels to Nepal and beyond. Thank you Rajah! X

Just am SO SHOCKED. I called them at 22.25 and asked for (Ponir (shaslik)..saag gosh Balti, lemon rice, chicken corma, masala Papadum x 3, 1 x pickle tray ) total according to their online prices £26. (Being generous) and they asked £10 more. Ah ha NO! 21.28pm.. 28th Oct '18. About to call in the same order.... let's see.... They now apparently DON'T do ANY DELIVERY SERVICE...?
