I’ve never had such a delicious Indian, food is tasty and packed with flavours. Waiters are very attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend to anyone, even if you’re not nearby!

We had a wonderful evening on 21st Dec 2021. The food was excellent, all piping hot and plenty of it, it seemed nothing was too much trouble, it was my birthday, the table was decorated and they were happy to allow my special cake to be served. I had heard very good reports of the Raj Garden but had not previously visited. The food was superb and more than plentiful (even for me!) Service was attentive without being intrusive which is a big plus in my book. Very surprisingly, we were practically the only customers that evening but I could see that the deliveries were pretty active. I have fairly wide experience of Indian food and I can without hesitation recommend the Raj Garden as a definite place to visit if you are near Braintree. If you're not near, it is worth a trip!

we have been visiting the Raj Garden since it forst opened. My husband and i absolutley love it there and often order takeaways. The food is always brilliant and so tasty. over the years our family has grown and now our chidren also love the food here. we haven't visited for a while due to lockdowns, but have continued to order takeaways whichare still just as great. being vegetarian and my husband vegan, it is great to know we can rely on this place and their yummy food x

We went to have a family meal but found there was only a takeaway service which we decided to do, unfortunately the food was tasteless and blande even onion bhajis were also undercooked, having eaten here previously and the restaurant obviously not busy I would have expected the standards to have been higher.

Had a takeaway this evening and was very disappointed curry was pretty tasteless and cold picked it up myself and don’t live to far away so it wasn’t the journey. Had a few nice meals here in the past so not sure what’s going on maybe chefs night off

This was always our favourite restaurant and on a brief visit after moving away we Had to come in for the wonderful flavoursome food and very good hospitality of Mohammed and his charming family. Good service, family values and superb cooking, so fresh and piping hot. So glad we dropped in.

Having recently moved to the area we received a flyer through our letter box and intended to visit for the Sunday buffet as a save bet taster, time passed and we’d missed the slot (buffet ends at 5.30) nonetheless we decided to give the Raj Garden a try, we weren’t disappointed, easy to find, quick service, and really tasty food. TBH on looking at the menu the all dishes are more expensive than we used to pay, but without a doubt the quality and taste were worth it. If you near by give the restaurant a try, I’m sure you’ll not regret it.

We had a table booked for 7, 6 adults and a toddler (no high chair required) There was nothing too much trouble for the staff, they looked after us well, the food was devine and to top it all off they where wonderful with the toddler. Very accomadating and ample food. We went on a Wednesday so had the mid week offer, and mot one of us finished our set meal. Next time decided to order 5 meals for the 6 of us! Will definitely be returning, and will be trying home delivery too!

We recently used the Raj Garden to cater our party. They supplied all of the equipment to keep the food warm, arrived promptly on the day and most importantly provided excellent food, which everyone commented on how good it was. Thank you to all of the team.

The service here is great and they serve some of the best Indian food for miles around. Family friendly and fairly priced. Recommended!

The best Asian food in the area!Mohammed and his staff are a delight, very friendly and helpful.Good is glorious with lots of variety and clearly lovingly prepared and cooked.Comfortable and homely surroundings, we only go to this restaurant for our curry fix, no one can beat them.

Don't tend to eat this cuisine often, but was really content with my decision to try new out Raj's garden!

Large portions of perfectly cooked food. Very reasonably priced with excellent service. Lovely old building surrounded by fields with a large car park and outdoor seating. Would recommend.

We placed an order throught their website it was 30mins late, was missing some of our order, the mungo chips were stone cold and rock hard, the naan bread was stone cold too and my husband found a hair in his chicken tikka! Maybe we had a bad day there but would not try again.

Used to go here some time ago and have had take aways recently.so went out tonight with Frds and can only say not disappointed food was outstanding as was the service.family run and it shows was excellent.

Used to be my 'go to' delivery service in the area, but has now gone severely downhill in terms of delivery times and the quality of food (Think bland and generic). It's not cheap either.

Ordered takeaway for two adults and one child to be delivered locally before 8pm now 9.54 and it has still yet to arrive

This was my first visit to this Indian restaurant. My family and I decided to attend raj garden due to location and the food hygiene rating of 5 out of 5. We arrived at the restaurant and were sat in the corner next to the bar. Our waiter was not a happy guy, at least that's how I can start to describe it. He greeted us with a menu and asked if wanted a drink. His attitude was very much like he didn't want to be there or even be talking to us, It was very odd and made us all feel uncomfortable.

I went there with my family while traveling back to London. We found this restaurant via Google. We came about 16:00 and were the only people there. The service was by two very nice young men. We order relatively fast and the appetizers came equally fast. We waited quite a while for our mains, but it was totally worth it. The food was probably the best food we had during our two weeks long England trip. We had four different mains we shared and it was very good. Overall I would highly recommend it and would go there again.

Raj Garden completely saved my birthday meal last night. We had booked to visit the Spicy Swan which was a complete disappointment, (see review) but the place was not open, leaving my friends and I scrabbling for another option. We chose Raj Garden and were so pleased, must have been a blessing in disguise! The food was all delicious, all served steaming hot and freshly cooked. The service was fantastic, all the staff were friendly and smiling. So a very bad start to our evening luckily was turned around at this restaurant. Would highly recommend and will be revisiting!

Came here with my family, restaurant was empty. Strange atmosphere, staff looked bored, unhappy and not attentive at all. One member of staff was resting his head on the bar staring in our direction for a long time making us feel very uncomfortable. Food was very disappointing. Will not be recommending or returning.

We love Raj Garden. Food is always top notch whether eaten in the restaurant or as a takeaway. The Naga chilli dishes are hot but never overpower the other spices. The bhindi bhaji is the best I’ve eaten.

We ordered a takeaway for 2 to be delivered to our B&B; and was told 45 minutes which was fine with us - imagine our delight when it arrived 20 minutes after ordering (We weer staying in the middle of no where!). Everything was hot and delicious and as ordered (which is not always the case with a delivery order in my experience). Congratulations Raj Garden - we're very happy to highly recommend you.

Special treat from daughter and son in law who had been before and thought highly of the place. Lots of smiles from manager and staff at the beginning. Sadly food arrived over 1 hour after ordering. Only 2 other couples in Restaurant. When food arrived it was cold to luke warm. Basically service ,quality of food and everything valued in the food trade went down hill from there. A sad night and embarrassing for all of us.

Perfectly cooked food every time, consistent and full of flavour. Large portions all very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, don’t drive passed drop in.

Hadn't been to this restaurant for over 15 years but with friends decided to give it a try. We arrived at our booked time of 7:15 and were seated at the back of the restaurant where there was no appreciable heating. The restaurant was less than half full however from the time our food order was taken it took 90 minutes for the food to be served. It was evident that takeaway orders were the priority. Having now read previous reviews it's a pity the proprietors have not taken on board the feedback concerning the in-house service. When the food eventually arrived it was acceptable.

We came here in the afternoon 2:30 ish, party of 6.we were shown to our seats quite quickly and given our menus then left for a while before anyone returned to ask if we would like any drinks,Very slow service,ordered our meals took a while but all dinners were perfectly cooked. Very nice surroundings,reasonable prices, made a nice change from busy town restaurant

Service is what you would expect, food is good, good overall experience. I don’t think they get a lot of customers on a Sunday afternoon and because of this they don’t have the greatest range of dishes, if you like the basics, then all is good, I would prefer more dishes so I could try different things off the menu.

Después de los platos no aclaró que pagamos por lo que teníamos y con hambre. Todo este restaurante está interesado en tomar su servicio. Fue nuestra primera visita y será la última. Servicio chocante y absolutamente reconstruida.

Tenía muchas ganas de visitar este restaurante indio en un pub antiguo. A mediados de la semana la llegada resultó bastante atareado para un lugar aislado, pero creo que el menú es demasiado extenso para lo que puede ser producido a un buen nivel. Hay obviamente un popular llevar el servicio y este a veces toma precedente y servicio de camarero sufre. Agradezco necesitan este negocio para sobrevivir, pero no debe ser a expensas de los clientes que han tomado la molestia de viajar a este restaurante. Mi invitado y yo quedamos muy decepcionados con nuestra principal cursos y por consiguiente probablemente nunca volver. Una pena, ya que hay una buena demanda de un gran indio en esta zona.

Hemos comido aquí en varias ocasiones con la familia. La comida es siempre fresca y sabrosa; fantástico. Sin embargo, el servicio es siempre el mismo: amable pero muy, muy lento. Reservamos la mesa para 7 personas. 30 ya que había niños pequeños con nosotros, pero la comida no llegó hasta 9. 30. Todo el mundo se volvió un poco agitado, que le restó mérito a nuestro disfrute. Mi consejo sería ir pero pensado para toda la noche, pedir un par de cervezas y esperar a que llegue la comida encantadora cuando llegue!

Mid week Curry for 4 mates . 2 of us arrived shortly after the others at 7.30pm on Weds 27th July , they having got their drinks ordered ours , the waiter who seemed to be on his own poured one then promptly answered the phone to take a takeaway order leaving the second drink . The restaurant had at that time a couple who were finishing their meal and asking for the bill , a couple who had alkyd in shortly before us and were seated , one other couple who were part way through their meal and a group of 4 lads seated in a separate part of the restaurant , so with sun a total of 10 people who needed to order and be served . on being seat a young lady brought our poppadums quite quickly . The dips weren't unpleasant . By 8.10 we were ready to order and took advantage of the mid week set menu . 40 minutes later we were still waiting for our starters to arrive , Only by continually trying to get the waiters attention dis we eventually get our starters , and at no time did he explain or apologise for what seemed an unnecessary delay , the starters were basic , Samosa , Onion Bhaji , Chicken Pakora and my own Prawn Puree ,which sadly was a bit bland . Starters finished the waiter cleared the table and topped up the drinks . We then waited until 9.15 for the mains to arrive . The curries seemed heavy on food colouring and the meat was not quite as tender as you'd hope with them being cooked on skewers . The main dishes were served with rice and a choice of vegetable sides . My Chicken Chilli Masala had a tasty sauce but the Dhall had little substance to it . The portion sizes were not bad and being 4 with quite good appetites we all felt we'd eaten enough . We were offered Coffees but as it was by then 9.45 we declined . The total bill with the second drinks added was £74 for 4 so not a bad price given to us with the expected chocolate square . The food served was basic restaurant stuff which was nothing to rave about nor write off as being bad . The main concern with the restaurant was how long it took to get served both starters and mains , the restaurant wasn't busy , and I wonder how long it would have taken on a busier night at the weekend ,and whilst no one should have to rush a meal , no one wants to wait ages for simple dishes . The taste of dishes will always vary with the chefs even within the same restaurants ,Id not eaten there before and had gone there on the advice of one of our party who has eaten there more often . I'd go again but would sincerely hope they stopped up a gear with the service .

Nos encanta este lugar. Hay siempre una cálida bienvenida de Mo y su familia, y la comida es muy buena. Yo he marcado este lugar sobresaliente porque se merecen hacer bien, sin embargo, los comentarios sobre el servicio son válidos. Le parece a la izquierda por un tiempo antes de su pedido es tomado, incluso cuando no es muy transitada. Esta es una cosa menor y no vale la pena, pero marcado, si pudieran dar este asunto pequeño algo de atención, entonces sería el paquete completo. Continuaremos a ir a la Raj Jardín como los demás aspectos de la experiencia más que para el pequeño problema en el servicio. Bien hecho chicos, seguid así!!!

He estado en este restaurante varias veces antes de su deliciosa comida sin embargo estuvimos decepcionados con el servicio esta vez como esperamos 35 minutos para tener nuestro pedido y tuvimos que pedir! Fue entonces cuando otra media hora antes de nuestra comida llegó. Nuestra reserva era 18.30 los jueves, así que no era como si estaban ocupados!

Love this restaurant, food always tastes fresh and all dishes have distinctive flavours.Not as expensive as a lot of other Indian restaurants where the food isn't so good.

Very good food last night, we had to wait an hour and a half after the papadoms for it to arrive though think the take away trade is getting in the way of serving customers in the restaurant, but was good when we got it .

We have been visitng this place for years. We love it. It is amazing quality food at really good prices. They are very good at helping with dietary needs. We have also taken our children here early evening and they do take away and delivery. We love it!

New driver turned up music blaring out wound down all his windows and as we were all in the garden we were hit with so much cannabis smoke all I really fancied was Doritos......The food on weekends is always good, the best Indian round here by far and the one time ages ago I was unhappy the owner drove to my house and replaced our food because he truly cares about his business. yesterday however thru no fault of the owner they mentioned they had a new driver and when he arrived he was proper stoned giggling all over the place. When I went to front door and was enveloped in his weed smoke he had the nerve to ask me where all the smoke had come from, "dude!! It's come from your car! Are you mental?....."

This restaurant is not in a town, it is surrounded with fields where horses roam. However it is well worth travelling that little bit further to experience what is on offer at the Raj Garden.We had had some bad experiences at Indian restaurants in Central Braintree and were looking for a different experience. Thanks to a mail drop we heard about the Raj Garden. The prices seemed good so we decided to sample the wares. If we were not happy we would put it down to experience and never return. Let me say that we will be prying as second and many more visits. The service was impeccable and the food, well it lived up to what was said on them une. You were able to choose the spiciest of many items which was a great relief for me, not being able to cope with "hot" food whereas my husbands revels in "extra hot" dishes. Plates were hot, something I always want, and the food too was served hot, so often it arrives tepid. If I have any criticism it is that the cheese naan bread was a little dry and not very cheesy. It was hot and pleasant. The wine - house white - was most palatable and at just £10 a bottle good value. A digestif offered at the end of the meal was a good finishing touch and, with the bill being exactly what we estimated it made for a perfect evening. We will be returning and ordering deliveries. A most pleasing experience and one to be warmly recommended.

It was just past lunch time bank holiday Monday when we passed this converted pub. Remembering the positive feedback we had heard turn round to give it a try. Are we glad we did fantastic food good service . The atmosphere was a bit lacking but I can imagine evenings it would be brilliant. Definitely going back best Indian around and good value too

Come for a visit from France and my friend Tim says that I had to discover this restaurant. There were so welcoming, they took the time to explain the dishes they serve and at the same time let us enjoy our me. Needless to say I will be back there and with my french friends.

The raj garden, is a wonderful family business. That excels all the surrounding Indian restaurants. The food is cooked daily. And the staff create a wonderful atmosphere, like myself there are many customers that, keep this restaurant as there number one location to eat out. I would highly recommend raj garden, to anyone

Had a meal delivered on Monday excellent as always , friendly delivery service, food was impeccable , always use this as is always so reliable

This is our local Indian but we would willingly travel some way to it if it wasn't. The menu has a great range of dishes, many are chef's specials. We have never had a bad meal and find it really good value for money. The staff really make you feel welcome and remember what you like - there always seem to be lots of regulars which is a good sign. We regularly take friends and family there.

We have visited this restaurant before and are back again with friends who we had recommended it to. The service was very slow, they were busy with lots of takeaway orders but it was over an hour before we had our starters. It was then 45 minutes after until we got out mains. I found a long hair in my curry to which the response was well none of the chefs have long hair. The delivery driver picking up the takeaways from the kitchen however did but the staff clearly thought we had planted it. We then just paid the (full) bill and left. We used to really rate this as one of the best Indian restaurants we had been to but can safely say we won't be going back again.

We love the food from the Raj Garden and always get our indian food delivered from them. I have also eaten in the restaurant once and it was excellent. They really know how to make perfect curry. The food tastes so good, good portion sizes, writing this review is making me want a curry now!

My last two experiences of this restaurant have not been great. I had to walk out a month ago after it took an hour to take our food order even after telling the waiter they had not taken it after 40 minutes and him saying ill get someone immediately. Now had a delivery from then as our regular Indian had no delivery driver tonight. Two main dishes were wrong the parathas were soaked in oil very stodgy and undercooked the worst ive ever had, the two vegetarian dishes both dry and tasteless very poor all round. Considering its not the cheapest I would expect much better.

Went for a meal here with some friends. The location and the food were nice but the wait seemed far to long considering the place was not that busy we were at the table for more than an hour before we ate. Would recommend for takeaway. not sure I would go again.

I took the wife on a Saturday evening and was surprised that the restaurant was empty so no waiting for a table or to place orders. The food courses were served when we were ready for them and were delicious, the staff were excellent. We only had a starter and main course each as we were too full for dessert and with drinks and tip it came to less than £50. The restaurant is situated between Witham and Braintree in a converted Pub in White Notley and is fairly remote but worth the drive as it is the best Indian in the area.

This is our first choice for indian takeaway. The food is fab and never had a bad one from here. The resturant is pretty standard, a converted old pub. The staff are extremely friendly and great with the kids. We've sat in the restaurant a few times and the only downside is the wait for the order which can take a little longer than you'd expect. This is mainly due to the extremely popular takeaway service.
