Just returned back to our holiday home after trying this Indian. My daughter has an onion allergy and they were fab with it all. Her food was the best Indian ever had and the chef came out to speak to her which was a lovely touch. All our food was fantastic Wish we lived nearer thank you x

Just had a takeaway, it was absolutely awful, obviously you have a new chef, it was always good, but tonight it was burnt, tasteless and even the dog wouldn't eat it. In fact after one mouthful, it went straight in the bin. I won't be coming back, unless you update your chef, you wasn't even busy (I wonder why?) Sort it out, you was always my best Indian takeaway.

Take away for 4 ordered. I thought I'd lost my sense of taste, seriously. Chicken dansak, with no flavour, so ask hubby for a taste of his ceylon, yes it was hot, but again, no flavour !? I'm sat watching our friends grind salt and pepper over their meals... they need to get the basic gravy right.., WITH SOME FLAVOUR before adding meat. Absolutly disgusted. Onion bhaji... dry, and hard. Pompadom, not fresh, and the peshwari naan... chewy.... this place used to be the place to go, maybe a change of chef ? Either way, none of us were enjoying the meal

Lovely food in a comfortable, modern restaurant. We had the crab dish and shashlik with a lovely cashew based side and roti.

We've been using Raipur for many, many years, both eating in and takeaway, and always recommending it. Unfortunately, we had a totally tasteless takeaway recently. I wrote to the restaurant privately via their website comment form but they didn't respond. I was more disappointed that they didn't respond after being such a loyal customer than I was about the tasteless food.

Very good food, excellent service, one of the better places of this kind I have visited. The venue is clean and just a little basic. However excellent food service and value we would visit again.

Excellent food and extra friendly & helpful staff. We arrived dripping wet after a massive downpour as we walked along the coast from Normans bay where we were staying. We were warmly welcomed, the food was brilliant and they were happy to order us a taxi to take us back.

Outstanding quality of service, of cuisine, of the whole experience. You won’t find better, anywhere. The menu is not your usual array of ‘the old favourites’. Yes, they are there but this venue offers Indian ‘fine dining’. Just great !!

Went here whilst staying in the bay for the night The smell drew us in and we weren’t disappointed, we were seated straight away and seems we timed it well as it soon filled up The food was full of flavour and generous servings - we weren’t able to finish our meals

Fantastic service, fantastic food especially the chicken garlic rice and chicken madras, the cheesy garlic naan is also “to die for” (meaning brilliant) would 100% recommend the staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean!!

I already love this place which is why I picked it for our team outing. Even though our party of 9 requested individual orders, these guys could not have handled it better, they learnt all our names and every order was spot on. The whole restaurant was busy but we still had the full attention of our waiting staff. The food, as usual was delicious and all arrived at our table at the same time. I can't say enough about my personal favourite dishes, the salmon is the best I've ever had and the onion bhajis are second to none. Thank you for a brilliant night from the LWC girls.

On arrival we were seated we ordered drinks and poppadoms which took an hour to come out service was awful the main meal when it come out was inedible and when we left the bill was incorrect don’t go there overpriced rubbish

This is a great place for indian cuisine. The food was lovely. And they do takeaway too. Everything pipeing hot and presented beautifully.

Found the place unfriendly and didn’t feel at all welcome. The service was rushed and felt pushy. Very overpriced and food was at best ok. We went as my husband and I had our second date here 11 years ago and we were in pevensey bay on holiday with our son. All a bit disappointing. We won’t be back.

We live local and have been here a few times over the years. The standard has always been good but last night the service and food was exceptional. Thankyou so much for making our dinner out a lovely evening.

We visited as a family to celebrate my daughters birthday. The restaurant's decor is beautiful. All our meals were fantastic, really tasty , everyone's choice of curry had just the right amount of heat but still able to taste the different layers of spices. The onion bhaji were incredible, lovely and crispy outside but softer inside. The best I've had. Everywhere was spotless, gleaming polished cutlery the place looked as if it had only just opened it was so clean. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. I will certainly recommend this place to people . Best meal I've had in years

Was staying at a local airbnb and researched a local Indian. Reviews was good so gave it a try. Absolutely amazed at the welcome we received for our reserved table of 6. We ordered drinks starters and mains. Everything was tasty and plentiful. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had a cake, to celebrate. Service with music and choice of music after was available, which we gladly welcomed. Complimentary drinks for the table at the end. We was all pleasantly surprised at the bill, which was so cost effective for the tasty food. Was unbelievable value for money. We travelled up from London, but honestly would make the journey again. The food was that good. Would highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely phenomenal, couldn't fault this darling restaurant situated in Pevensey. It was highly recommended by our bnb host and when myself and five other friends arrived and sat down we knew we were in for a treat. Very kind and helpful waiters, lovely background music, clean, crisp and modern decor. The menu was well laid out and good translation of each dish. From the starter and main course we were greatly impressed. Shining and clean cutlery, glasses and crockery. The food was so tasty, each dish with its unique taste simply delightful. My best friend was made to feel very special as they dimmed the lights and changed the music to Happy Birthday as they brought out her cake. We were not rushed, just left to enjoy the evening. It is definitely not over priced and well worth it. Thank you Raipur Staff.

Having eaten here recently I was looking forward to our meal. Booked for 7pm. Ordered drinks and food. Popadoms to start which came in good time. Then we waited and waited. Had to ask for drinks and twice asked where our mains were and was eventually served at 8.45pm. The waiter was quite rude to us aswell. They were busy and seemed short staffed as the chef was helping clear the tables at times. Had one of them been courteous and just explained that they were falling behind and there was going to be a wait for our food, and checked in on us for top ups of drinks then that would have been perfectly fine. It doesn’t take much really and can make all the difference. The food was lovely. I really can’t fault that but by the time it came is was rather late. So very disappointed and did not leave a service charge and have been put off. Maybe better not to go on a weekend. What a shame.

Not knowing what to expect, my party were not pleasantly surprised but amazed at the quality of the food and good service.

Very disappointed by the customer service tonight at Raiper. All of us have previously eaten out at this restaurant so were looking forward to a good night out. Couldn’t fault the food but once we had eaten and finished our meal they couldn’t wait to get us out. From presenting the bill to clearing the table around us,made us feel very unwelcome. The restaurant was half full so not as though we were keeping them up or preventing new customers. We don’t go out much so disappointed our custom meant so little to them in these difficult times.

on friday 15/10/21 .we would definatly dine here again, we booked the table on line about 5pm for 6:15 no prblem, the restaurant and staff are imaculate.ice cold cobra beer,and a hot curry! what more do you want? the most tender pieses of lamb no fat or grissel.and chicken that is moist and tender, all cooked in the the highest quality sause of our choice and served very promptly. i would reckamend this restaurant to all as every thing is a very high standard.

4 of us are on holiday in the area and visited this restaurant based on recommendations. So glad we did. Food was amazing - the best we've ever had and the service was excellent. Restaurant itself was very clean as were the toilets. Tables had sufficient space between them to allow you to leave your table without having to squeeze through past other diners. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Had a takeaway when on holiday in the area having seen overall rating. Very disappointed, prawn biriani an lamb shashlik both really lacking in flavour and taste. Definitely won't be using again.

Raipur is an extremely modern looking Indian restaurant and the place was buzzing the night I visited. I always go for the vegetable side dishes and was pleased to find some out of the ordinary ones not usually found on the average Indian restaurant menu.I went for the Tarka Sagdal and Niramish with a chapati. (Niramish is shredded cabbage and carrots with coconut, chili and curry leaves).The dishes were excellent and the dryish Niramish went very well with the Tarka Sagdal. As you can see from the photo I also got a free portion of Bombay potatoes... maybe because I looked hungry, or probably because the restaurant was about to close.Friendly staff and excellent service. Free wifi.

This place must have changed hands, it used to be superb. Last night I ordered what I ususlly have and asked for lemon rice instead of the pilau rice and was refused! This also happened to my son who asked for garlic rice. We then decided to leave so the chef agreed to make the change just this once but told us if we came again we would have to have the pilau rice that came with meal. I could understand if it was a big change but just asking for a different rice which we were quite happy to pay extra I feel unacceptable. Also the fish dish I ordered used to have large pieces of fish but today was more mush, I must say it did taste very nice but I missed picking out the prawns etc.

The entire evening was excellent the atmosphere set the scene and the staff delivered a great experience. The food was excellent and the speciality dishes were superb. Would highly recommend for either dining in or take away.

The last time we came here was two years ago when we were on holiday in Eastbourne and we really enjoyed it so we booked up well in advance for last night. We weren’t disappointed. We both had chicken kahari with rice which was fabulous. We enjoyed it so much we’ve booked to go again next Friday before we go home on Saturday.

I usually love this restaurant, tonight I ordered what I normally do , lamb Madras , chapatis, onion Bhaji . When my food turned up there was no mint sauce to complement my bhaji . I called the restaurant, and to my surprise the guy who picked up informed me that it doesn’t come with the sauce or side salad!!!! Of course unless u you ask for it , he then went on about ordering 5 dishes , ( this was mot my intention) It’s always come before . Very disappointed and rude customer service ! You have put me off with your rise attitude!

This restaurant came highly recommended but fall short of its promise. The service for a Thursday evening was very poor, starters placed on table with no cutlery after staff were asked food was now cooled off. Then main courses arrived this time part missing again await the delivery of the roti, which was lovely and fresh but the curry again cooling off. Such a shame as the food did taste lovely but poor service ruined it.

Not your normal curry house. Great flavours and a different choice. Squid starter and prawn puri staters spot on. Would of been 5 star but the niramish was poor.

Very nice Indian restaurant with great menu choice. We had a couple of chicken dishes and some side dishes, and they were wonderful.

We visited on a Wednesday evening during our holiday. The restaurant looked very smart and clean and had been impressed by the menu online.Firstly the 'host' needs to work on his hosting skills. No smiles or hellos and gestured to rather than led us to our table - charming start.The food was good, really generous serving of poppadoms and sauces, lots of meat in the curries. All fresh and well cooked. My big disappointment was the katchumber - maybe I've been spoiled in the past having experienced this before as lovely diced salad elements flavoured with Indian spice and heat... At this restaurant it was a bowl of lettuce and tomato with 2 chillies shoved in! The service was quick and attentive. However one point on this - we took my two year old. Unfortunately their highchair was broken which meant she had to sit in a chair...Any parent can imagine how this went and she did end up making a bit of a mess. At this point it was about 8 o'clock and many adult tables were coming in. In total the waiter came over 5 times to ask to clear our plates despite it being obvious my eldest was still eating. The children were being so well behaved and it just felt very obvious they wanted us gone which did put a dampener on the meal.Overall good food, well-priced, nice surroundings and efficient service, they just need to work on friendliness and particularly family friendliness.

We’ve eaten here many times with family and with friends. The food is very good, as is the presentation. Looking forward to going back!

We have eaten in here many times hen visiting Pevensey Bay, but today was a working trip and a take away was the only option. We kept it simple with Option 1 for Two, and half an hour later picked up their usual top quality meal. The Onion Bhajis were really special!

I collected my food and was very excited as the menu has some lovely sounding dishes. Nevertheless I was very disappointed with the food. It seemed they didn’t care because it was a take out. I may take a chance and sit in next time as it was busy when I went.

We were recommended here and easily booked a table for 2. Good distancing etc and the menu looked amazing, much more than on link here. Started with Lamb Barra Kabab which were supposedly ‘slow cooked in tandoor to perfection.’ Well they were black on the outside and almost raw in the middle more reminiscent of an applied blowtorch, the flavour was ok but they begged for slower cooking. The chaat hub had was another speed casualty, the chickpeas still hard and raw. Mains I chose murg ki shaag o rana and it was very good, chicken breast stuffed with spiced lamb in a beautiful sauce. Hub had chicken Nigren which was very fresh and tasty but also ordered okra side dish. You know when okras been slow cooked and develops a lovely flavour and glutinous texture? It didn’t. Once again almost raw. When paying the bill the waiter said completely unprompted and I quote ‘ were very busy we don’t have time to give to the customer and make their experience’ the waiters were fine I would suggest the chefs need to take more time developing taste and textures. People will wait.

One of the best Indian Meals i have had. The service and Food was top class. Will certainly visit again when in the area.

Went there for my sons birthday. I had the stuffed chicken breast. Was absolutely delicious until I pulled a 6 inch black hair out of my mouth that had been in the lamb stuffing ! Told the guy waiting on us and instead of an apology I was basically accused of putting it there. My hair is bleached ! Would of gone back for the food had an apology been given, I mean accidents happen. How ever 7 of us wont go back because of the unapologetic accusatory attitude of the staff. Left upset which spoilt. Very disappointing. If you want to be insulted then this is the restaurant for you.

Our dining experience was totally spoiled by the service. We had to wait for an hour and a quarter for our food to be served - all the while watching a constant stream of takeaway food leaving the restaurant. It made us feel that as we were there they just wanted to serve us more drinks and weren't bothered about getting our food to us as we were a captive audience. We won't go back as there are other restaurants locally where we have had better service.

We ate here while on holiday in the area. Very very good Jalfry chicken and amazing huge king prawns for the prawn starter. Lovely moist chicken for the tandoori starter. Staff made us feel very welcome during this strange time to be eating out. Highly recommend

We were staying locally and had heard good things. We ordered a takeaway to be delivered as we have young children and were only two minutes drive from the restaurant. The man answering the phone is incredibly rude. Left my husband waiting on the phone whilst he answered other calls. He called back to find out how much longer our food would be to be told they were busy and were running 30 mins late. He promptly hung up the phone on us. The food eventually arrived (half an hour late) and it was cold and the chicken was so dry! Very disappointing and won’t be ordering from there again.

Was staying locally for a short break and decided to try this restaurant as it looked very clean and inviting.We were not disappointed. It is clean and bright and the owner and staff are welcoming and well informed. Tables were well spaced and masks and visors were in use by staff. The menu has some vey interesting items not found on your run of the mill Indian. The crab Raipur and the lamb Chettinad were worth a special mention. We are staying locally again in March and will most deffinately be re visiting here. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Had a wonderful meal here recently. Chose a couple of the Chef's special's that I hadnt had before and was not disapointed, lovely tender meat and vibrant colours

The title of this review is what my wife said at the end of the meal. Says it all really.Price is what we expect these days. Poppadoms, mains, one side and 2 naans plus desserts and coffee. Bottle of wine and one pint £72.Good service and nice modern atmosphere (no 70's flock wallpaper or cheesy Indian music).

After eating in many average/mediocre Indian restaurants its such a joy to find somewhere where the food tastes authentic!! The Raipur has got to be the best Indian restaurant around. The food is so flavoursome and every dish tastes deliciously individual.. service was great and staff were friendly. Definitely won't be going anywhere else in future

Ordered a delivery while staying on a local campsite.Was told it could take as long as 75 minutes, which I was happy with, and it arrived in 45 mins. So you can’t argue with that. A bit of under promise / over deliver - clever. The bloke dropping the meal off was very polite.The meal itself ...well I saved the best bit to last. I had a prawn jalfrezi (my go-to curry) and it was right up there with the very best I’ve ever eaten! 10/10! My wife had a vegetable Korma, with onion bhajis. She loved it. And the Bombay Potato, again, was superb. All-in-all one of the very best curries we have had - just a shame The Raipur is based in Pevensey and not Portsmouth. If you’re visiting Pevensey and you fancy a curry, you won’t be disappointed with this place.

Had a very nice meal. Bit disappointed no passing on of government saving. Booked on a Monday expecting some kind of deal . Really good food though. Would have gone on Saturday night if aware.

We visited mid week and had a delicious meal. All tasted very fresh and service was relatively fast.

Good restaurant, nice atmosphere and child-friendly for those who aren’t curry fans! Liked their food very much. Not too busy early evening, filling up as we left.

Wow. What an excellent find. We visited on a quiet Tuesday evening and are very glad we did. The service was good but the food was the star of this show. The Lamb Barra Kebab starter was outstanding, cooked to perfection and very tasty. The crab curry main was also very good. All the food was superbly presented and all of party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The poppadoms were awesome.

The Terrible chunk of lamb which was held together with fat and something that was white and tubular totally ruined what would probably have been quite a tasty curry 🤮 It was a takeaway not a visit to restaurant

We visited this resturant on a recommendation a we were not disappointed. We were well looked after from the start of the meal to the finish and the food was very good I had a crab curry which was very flavorful the food was all very hot I cant wait for a return visit you do need to book

Visited on a Friday night. Restaurant was 75% full. Good friendly attentive service. All the food was presently beautifully, it really looks good. The poppadoms were the best I’ve ever had, a basic thing at an Indian, but such an important part to get right, and often places get it wrong. I was a little disappointed I was put off from ordering what I had chosen by the waiter, he recommended something else which I didn’t really love. It was nice but not what I wanted which ultimately put a dampener on the whole experience. My wife’s dish was really good, tasted great and was presented on one of those sizzling plates. Would visit again, but will order what I want, not what the waiter wants. Would recommend for all occasions as the restaurant is very smart and all the presentation of everything that comes out looks really class.

Went to Raipur on Valentines evening on the recommendation of our friends who accompanied us.Good ambiance, great food, and nice beer - all at a very reasonable price.Parking available right outside or just across the road.I wouild certainly go there again if I were to be in the area, and have no criticisms at all.

What a fabulous restaurant. Wonderful food, beautifully presented and such exciting flavours. The service was also excellent and attentive. We visited on a recommendation and were not disappointed. We will definitely be back. We have eaten hundreds of curries all over the UK - from the cheapest to the most expensive, and this was the best.

Just had the best meal - I had the lamb shank biriani. Should be for two I think. Soft, succulent lamb and a lovely veg curry on the side. Huge! Prawn peri-peri to start. Stuffed.

As I live in the area this is my go to Indian Resturant to eat in or take out.The staff are very friendly Beer is always cold and a good selection of wines to complement the food and taste buds

Our second time at the Raipur, but it will be a while before the third. The service is good. The chairs, linen, tableware etc are good. The lobby keeps the winter out. Such a pity that the chicken has neither flavour nor texture - just the strange fluffy feeling of reconstituted stuff.

had a really nice meal until a waiter tipped a full glass of red wine over my wife. he didnt say a word just walked off and god a cloth and still no sorry !!! he did give a free drink to those covered in wine ... SO TRAINING NEEDED HERE , this restaurant is very good and food always top notch .

Used to be excellent but last two takeaways were not so good. Seem to be using poor quality chicken. We have seen other restaurants do this. Good quality if you eat in but kind of rubbery wierd chicken for takeaways

I ordered a meal for 3 and was unsure about some of the dishes. The restaurant was very helpful and advised on which curry was good.

This resaurant is brilliant. The food ais varied, good quality and not expensive. The staff are very helpful and offer very good service. Perfect for couples or groupd of friends or family gettogethers

on friday the 8th november it was my 80th birthday and our children took us out for a day of eating and drinking after a great lunch in Rye they then drove us back to Pevensy and booked us into a bed & breakfast for the night, they had booked a table at the Raipur but they did not stay with us, a taxi picked us up at 6pm and took us to the resteraunt, the reseraunt is clean and well laid out tables not close together the service was excelent and the food was well cooked and presented, peggy had vegatable dhansak made to a madras heat and i had a lamb dish i cant remember the name but it was minced lamb with cubed lamb served with rice and naan bread it was the first time there for us but not the last.

I ordered from Raipur online as we were staying in the area and collected the food piping hot at the agreed time. The portions were substantial and the quality of the food - chicken saag and chicken bhuna with the usual sundries - very tasty and good value. I’d certainly return if in the area!

We visited the beach for a walk and needed an evening meal and chose the Raipur which many locals had told us about. The decor is spotless and very streamlined. We were very impressed with the presentation and wide selection of dishes. We over ordered and took enough home for a freezer meal and the quality and variety was excellent.

We have been customers for a few years and loyally stuck with them after their recent issues. That’s not going to continue.

My wife and I have eaten in many Indian restaurants this one shines from the moment you walk in crisp clean decor and friendly waiters, then the important bit the food the seafood cocktail main was one of the tastiest dishes I have ever tried we did ask for madras hot for more of a kick.

I have dined at this restaurant a few times with friends. They do rush you to order your main course when you are still eating your starter. But I decided to order online and collect for 20% discount on cash payment. We spend £33.10. The person on the till was rude and unfriendly and charged me 26.50. Maybe only 2p but they still shouldn't do that! So unpacked order at home. 2 poppadoms, one obviously burnt and looked completely different to the other. Salad was in a plastic bag and not a nice fresh plastic container. Both main courses were swimming in cooled fat. The prawn starter was old and stale and chewy, not fresh at all. I will not visit this restaurant again or order a collection again even though they are within walking distance.

Great service, great starters and sauces. Unfortunately the chicken and lamb is processed. I think customers would rather have a smaller amount of quality meat than manufactured crap...

Just the worst Indian style food I have ever had. It was swimming in oil and really bland. The food and alcohol is seriously overpriced and we were charged for a chutney tray we didn't order, we assumed it came with the papadoms. They had the tablecloth off before we had even finished. Rubbish place, never going back.

First visit to the Raipur on friends recommendation. Situated just on the outskirts of Pevensey, the parking is good. The restaurant is very clean, light and tasteful decor. Friendly staff. The food choices are large and innovative. Each dish arrived colourful and beautifully garnished. Drink and food prices reasonable. Will return. Booking essential.

There were 6 of us dining at Raipur on 14th September 2019 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. I have eaten in many Indian restaurants in my life and I must say that the curry meal which I had was one of the best which I have ever tasted.

Excellent high quality indian food. Good staff highly recommend a visit. Booking advised as it gets really busy.

What a lovely visit in every way, great menu, loved the sulphur free organic option of running duck wine, waiters were friendly and smily, food was exceptional, great presentation of food, will be going back to enjoy more of menu on offer..

Got a take away but when walked in place wish we had dressed up and stayed to eat. very stylish and decorated very cosmopolitan. Food was lovely

We have been visiting this restaurant for 6 or 7 years. It’s always excellent. The food is always tasty, plentiful and beautifully presented. We have visited with friends and family and recommended the venue to many others. The service is attentive and unhurried, we strongly recommend you give them a try!

We booked a table here during a stay at a local hotel. Living in Birmingham, home of the curry, we are spoilt for choice, however the food here was to a very high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It certainly wouldn’t be out of place in Birmingham, so if you ever open a restaurant here please let us know and we will definitely visit it. Highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you

We visited this place in July---you are showing it as closed but we found it open---we have travelled the world including India eating wonderful curries --- this restaurant is one of the best.

The food wad sooo good! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere relaxed - but it was the taste of the food that really made our day :)

Visited today, lunchtime for our wedding anniversary whilst on holiday in Pevensy. As it was lunch time it was very quiet, but food was all cooked fresh and cant fault any of it. Lovely

Asked some locals about the best place to eat on a visit to this sleepy coastal town, All recommended this restaurant. Very different to our usual places. Interesting and varied menu. Our starters, salmon for wife and prawn puree for me. Both excellent. The main courses were just as good. Service was spot on and the prices fair. all in all I could not fault this place. Highly Recommended.

Great tasting and very smart and clean restaurant, although we did a take away on this ocassion. The food was as tasty as ever, good sized portions and a fair price.

Very tasty and fresh curry, the vegetable dishes were the star of the show, especially the runner beans. We ate absolutely everything, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. would defo recommend. We are a family of curry connoisseurs and in my view this was excellent.

Well it started with a night out for me and the other half !

This was our first take out meal from Raipur and it was excellent: quality and quantity was great and the service polite and courteous. 20% discount for cash collection made it even more enjoyable. We shall definatley return.
