Rainbow Chinese Takeaway in Sheffield

The food here is incredible 😍 I'm so glad they deliver to S9. The food arrives hot every single time, and every dish tastes delicious and fresh. This is the only Chinese takeaway I will order from now. It's always a great experience. The munchy box is excellent, the large spring roll is gigantic and I love their Singapore Chow mein aswell. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Pretty sure I was given boiled rice when I asked for fried rice. And even if I was fried rice it was pale and somehow disgusting and tasteless at the same time. And their meat pieces had hard nodules inside. I had to spit loads of back out.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken balls and received 1 chicken ball and 4 prawns balls that we could not eat. Bland salt and Pepper chips, sweet and sour sauce that didn't taste like sweet and sour and egg fried rice which was very clumpy. Ordered as our usual Chinese was closed. Will not order again.

Unfortunately when I got home I had a prawn dish instead of the chicken in szechuan hot bean sauce. Mrs having what she hadn't ordered on mother's day. Hey ho.

Normally great food but this time wasn't as good. Slightly burnt taste and seemed smaller portions. Hopefully back to normal next time.

Wow this is our favourite place for take away Chinese food,we only use this place having tried others nothing compares to the Rainbow,just ring up food ready in 20 mins,oooh it's making me want one now,😯😁👍

Been going to this place for at least 25 years but tonight was very dissapointing the rice didnt taste right it wasnt up to standard it spoilt the whole meal

Used to love this place but last couple of times the food has been poor. Last night was our last attempt. The king prawn with garlic tasted weird, the beef and mushroom was watery and the beef was rubbery. The same could be said for the salt and pepper chicken- I’ve never seen chicken so stringy and elasticated. Tiny bag of prawn crackers and a bag of poor mini spring rolls. Virtually all went in the bin.

Really nice place, tasty food, prompt service. Will not go any where else! =D

Quite possibly the worsed Chinese food iv ever had what's happened? many years ago loved it tried Rainbow for a change and wished I never bothered! Chips were anemic, chowmein tasted burnt, absolutely no taste to anything. Never again

Our family has been eating and frequently using The Rainbow for over 30 years and we always considered it to be the best Chinese in Sheffield. Unfortunately, during last few lockdowns our meals have been off-par and nowhere near the quality and flavour of the meals we have enjoyed decades prior. Maybe we had a slew of bad nights, which is okay. It's understandable if the staff and chefs maybe not present or absent from their kitchen during such unprecedented and tough circumstances but we could certainly tell our last three meals were not cooked to the same standard or by the same chef as all of the meals we have ever ordered in the past. With that aside, I truly believe that The Rainbow is still one of the best Chinese takeways in the city and we are going to return soon to order again. But right now we're going to hold off and give them some time to improve and get back to their old ways before ordering again. If our next few meals are of the quality we are used to I will re-review and ammend my score but as for now a 3/5 star rating is all I can give. We hope you return to maximum strength!

Sorry rainbow but burnt chips burnt wan ton and the worst overcooked shrivelled up chicken foo yung I’ve ever seen or tasted is the last straw we have given you the benefit of the doubt for the last time absolutely rubbish tonight

Great food, I never get a bad order somtimes the wait can be upto 50 mins for collection but all worth the good quality of food.

Ok, apart from the plastic chicken, why don't they use real chicken, (not tinned)

Used to order from here regularly and stopped when it changed hands .....only ordered from here today because couldn't get through to mosborough chinese......really wish I'd have kept calling mosborough .....this wasn't anything special,, now I know why I stopped ...Im still hungry 🤔

Absolutely disgusting food, ordered a special Chow Main beef was like old boot leather, never tasted like a chow main, just noodles cooked in gravy, best thing was the chips, prawn crackers were a about 3 week old they were that soft, if I could give zero stars I would have, will never order from here again

Very disappointed. Very little chicken in chicken fried rice, not sure what beef dish was but certainly not beef with ginger and spring onion. Chop suey rolls greasy and soggy, thin watery curry sauce and to top it all never seen prawn crackers so thin. All tasteless, won't use this place again.

Salt and pepper chicken was really hard must have been cooked well in advance beef curry was tasteless beef was tough pancake roll not to bad

I left 1 star because it would let me leave no stares .... worst food I have ever had .... sweet and sour pork ... was all fat and and hard ... boiled rice also hard ... how can you go wrong with rise .... chicken fooyung. .... sorry egg fooyung no chicken at all .... never ever again ... found out since that they have 0 star rating for food quality and service wish I new that at the time

Salt & Pepper Chicken was ok. Salt & Pepper King Prawns were not for me, i can only describe them as been hidden in a huge thick dumpling when infact they should be dipped in a light batter. Rice was ok, Noodles slightly greasy. We got free spring rolls and it took them about 10 minutes to cook. Wasnt very busy.

Only given one star as I had two Singapore rice was just like plain boild rice no heat meat inedible hard, sauces was just like water far two runny tasteless ,chip reheated from day before not happy never go there again very expensive and even the dog didn't want it either

Yesterday I ordered in the shop a beef chowmein and then I paid for it then took it home then when I opened I saw that snot was on the food so I had to throw in the bin so I would not recommend this place!

We like rainbow always busy so phoning an order is best if you dont want to wait one of the better Chinese takeouts decent portions always piping hot and tastes good,they also deliver too

I have been going here for years and never had a bad meal. I always pick up as delivery can be unpredictable. Problem on Tuesdays however as they are closed.

Duck very dry chips had been reheated and tasteless it went straight in the bin

I normally enjoy eating from here but ordered 2 portions of crispy aromatic duck and chips tonight and was sorely disappointed! The duck and pancakes were delivered completely cold so we had to microwave. The chips were hot but only because they had been forgotten out of the order and we're brought by someone else! The duck was anything but crispy and was full of fat and gristle. Both meals were left uneaten. Very crap when it cost us £20.60 plus a £1.40 tip!! Even the cat wasn't interested in eating the duck!!

Love this takeaway! Been going here for years and the food is lovely. We dont live local to it anymore but still prefer to travel to it for Chinese takeaway as nowhere else has matched it for us.

Lovely chow main full of different ingredients but any meat was just too tough. Spare ribs far too hard. Bloke serving me too busy playing on his phone. I know many better places

Excellent, Chinese take away.We had chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein and curry sauce. (not very adventurous I know) but it was far better than many Chinese meals we have had locally. Rainbow has been a great Take away for years, and this was my first visit in about 3 years, and the standard of food is just the same as it was then. I would 100% go there again.

Just had special fried rice which was swimming in oil the chips were cold the prawn crackers were rubbery so overhaul a dissapointing tea. Really suprised as rainbow is usually nice.
