Delightful owner/staff, really good and very home made food. Good portions and everything served with a smile. Excellent value. Classic British pub - busy enough but not too busy with a good selection of local beers. We felt like we were family members. A real, big recommendation

Having been twice kast year whilst on holiday, we were staying in the area again and made certain we booked for another meal. Excellent pub food with no pretensions and offering good value. My only minor comment is I wish they would sort out their website to view a menu before going as I found I had to rely on photos from previous customers. It just would have been nice to see what is on offer even it is badged as a typical menu

Visited three times whilst staying in Docking, the Railway is a great village pub, good meals at reasonable prices, we had burgers, steak pie and hunters chicken, all enjoyable meals, we requested less chips to save waste as we could not eat the huge portions and ordered a side of coleslaw instead which we were not charged for, a pleasant surprise in the present financial climate. We will be returning when next in the area.

Staying in Docking with teen kids and grandparents. The Railway Inn was in walking distance from our accommodation so thought we would give it a try. Fast efficient polite service, nice people. Good selection of pub food. Arrived quickly and was of a really good standard. Normal pub type grub but would recommend for a nice easy bite to eat

Having popped in for a drink on previous holidays we decided to see if they had rooms available. Luckily for us they did. Just for 1 night. Which was what we wanted. The room though small was perfect. Very clean. Lovely shower. Bed very comfortable. We also had dinner. My partner had Scampi. They must have used a whole bag. Decent portion of chips and peas. I had the Curry off the specials board. Very tasty and generous portion. Also cheese and biscuits between us. That again was a very generous size. Staff extremely pleasant. Breakfast again was lovely and piping hot. We would definitely stay again when next in the area. Hidden gem.

My wife and I went for dinner whilst holidaying in the area. Food was ok although my steak and onion pie had very little meat and it was clearly a cheap cut with grissle and chewy. Dessert was better. Our waitress was pleasant but very young and had not had any training. There were specials on the board which she didnt even mention and when asked didnt have knowledge of what was included in the dish. We dont live in the area so would not be re-visiting but unfortunately cannot recommend.

I was so disappointed with my meal ,the chicken was destroyed in the microwave and chips were obviously too difficult for the Chef to present in a satisfactory condition. Unfortunately for this establishment they have no cooking or presentation skills. This is from a Chef and trouble shooter and you knew Chef that I was there so why did you hide in the kitchen.S

The outside is unpromising with peeling paint on windows and various debris around the car park. The conservatory is uninviting, they should close off some of the glass and roof to make it seem warmer. We sat in the restaurant area which was OK but no more. However having said all that the food was good and the staff really friendly. It exceeded our expectations.

Through the onslaught of the "eat out to help out" mentalness that results in restaurants being jammed full Mon-Weds, these staff cope admirably. It happens I came camping to Birchingham Monday to Friday, so did pre-book, and the food and ambience was very good so I booked a table for the next 2 nights. It is appreciated on these busy nights if you arrive on time and don't spin it out too much-needed but somehow the staff keep everything moving along nicely here without anyone feeling rushed. Night 1 I had 3 starters- prawn and chorizo kebab, salad, and basket of bread with olives and sundried tomato. The food was perfect and also the house Merlot is good. Night 2,'I had the sea bass with vegetables. A good sized portion and a varied selection of potato and veg. Sugar snap peas and green beans both! And other veg. A good sized tender tasty sea bass. For dessert, the Eton mess was a delight, creamy, light and moussey with a tasteful selection of fresh sweet berries. With a glass of Pinot Grigot, a perfect meal. Night 3,:had the chicken pitta and chips. Generous portion of chicken and good chips. This went nicely with the tomato and chilli sauce which I requested. One suggestion is, I think this could come automatically with this dish. It is a natural partner. Selection of ice cream was perfect to finish. The pub \ restaurant is very Covid -aware, with staff all in masks and carefully cleaning all the tables after every group. This is very reassuring. With this in mind please expect to book ahead Mon-Weds, and be patient with the staff. They will do their utmost to fit you in. If there isn't room, there really isn't - please don't challenge this. I witnessed some impatient behaviour around someone having to wait for a table eatlier, it was kind of embarrassing. As a single diner I felt very comfortable. I think it would be a lovely place to stay.I've really enjoyed eating here and will return next time I'm in the area.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here today, even though the excellent carvery is no longer available due to the corona virus restrictions in place. The off the menu roast did not disappoint. The staff are very helpful and accommodating, my little boy is very fussy and wanted something that wasn’t on the menu but the young girl who served us said it wouldn’t be a problem. If you have no where else to go, in all of Norfolk fine. I think I have had better dinners at wakes. We were one of very few tables (on a Friday night) and were not allowed into the bar area to finish off our wine as the number of people in there exceeded their allowance, however, minute after minute new patrons kept walking in without question. The food wasn’t great at all, quite a greasy fish and the chicken curry was questionable even as a hospital meal - beige to say the least. The waitress didn’t grasp the concept of wearing a mask properly even though I feel like this is quite simple. Lots of chin protection going on, certainly not mouth and nose. Doesn’t help when she was coughing about everywhere without covering her mouth even with her hand. Corona here I come!! All in all, we were left in a room dining totally alone and even told we were not allowed into the main seating area and had to use the disabled toilet just to be kept away. Lovely evening if you like dining alone in total silence with bad food..

Horrible weather outside we were given a warm table next to the radiator which was very welcome. Started lunch with chicken Thai cakes which were very nice, followed by the carvery I had roast beef. Everything was hot and well cooked. Dessert was chocolate sundae yummy. All paired with a lovely Rumanian red wine. We are regular visitors to this delightful village pub and feel I must pass on my views of this pub, it is very difficult for pubs to survive in the current market so if one does find a true old fashioned pub with friendly hard working staff, serving up excellent food at a reasonable price then we all need to support it as much as we can, use or lose it as the saying goes.

Visited here today as a ‘nice’ end to our family holiday.....first of all I am pretty sure this restaurant must be writing their own reviews. We came for the Sunday carvery......if you want rock hard swede, and rock hard parsnips and meat with no juice and dry as a bone then this is your place......the waitress did not come over to check how our meal was at all.....when they came over to collect our plates we pointed out how appalling the food was the staff all came over and actually started arguing with us.....and told us we cleared our plates which we certainly did not. They actually accused us of lying! What a horrific experience with no ambience....an absolute dive. At no point was any reduction to to the meal offered.....thank god for spar up the road.....you know it’s bad when you take a trip to spar after a meal out.

The food is good quality and excellent value for money and there is a good choice for vegetarians. The whole atmosphere is welcoming. Having intended to eat elsewhere but not being able to get a table we looked around and came across this pub. A quick phone call, answered by polite and courteous member of staff got us a table and over we went. The staff were attentive and friendly and the menu offered a good selection of food. I went for the chilli con carne, my partner opting for the lasagne. Both were served promptly, and the food was piping hot. The portion sizes were very good and the food (perhaps most importantly) tasted fantastic to the extent that my mouth was tingling long after I’d finished eating. We each had a drink with the meal and the overall cost was in no way extortionate (less than £35 in total which included the bread and olives to start).

Firstly, superb staff, lovely friendly and welcoming. This is a typical pub grub establishment at sensible prices when compared to the mor fanciful places catering to the Chelski overspill types along the coast. Wife had a large vino, £5.90, so in line with most pubs and I had a pint of Pepsi £2.40. I had chilli, that was made with lumps of beef rather than mince, not my preferred method, but still good. It was Thursday steak night and Queenie had a steak for £8.50, very good. All in £27.55. Great value. My one slight negative, the area we sat in was a little sterile for my tastes, we were not in the bar or the conservatory as we had a dog with us. Also lighting from the carpark to the front door could do with improvement. But I do recommend.

We were sat in the bar watching the football and the table next to us were tucking into Fish Pie and a lovely looking bowl of pasta, after the game we managed to secure a table as the bar was busy and the restaurant area was full.

In mid-November we came as a family group for Sunday lunch. Well received, friendly staff and very good Sunday roasts, plus an enjoyable vegetarian meal. The starters and puddings were also of a very high standard. My wife and I returned the next night to sample the Norfolk Restaurant Week menu. Again friendly, welcoming and comfortable. It is worth mentioning that the beer was a perfect companion to the food. An all-round good pub, we shall return when next in the area.

Was surprised how quiet the pub was on a Saturday evening, one other couple dining when we arrived at 7 and then just us. Few people in the bar but not busy. Food was ok, was expecting better given other reviews. Service friendly.

Went here for Sunday lunch after searching for pubs in Docking and found this to be the only one. Couldn’t have been happier, the staff were super friendly and the lunch really great. Would 100% recommend and wish them the all the best. Dog friendly which is a bonus.

We heard about restaurant week and decided to give it a go.... OMG we weren’t disappointed at all..... the food was absolutely delicious!!! We eat out regularly and this is the first time in years that the food was served piping hot!!! The menu was amazing, happy with my choice but still had food envy when I had seen other plates of food, if I had of had room..... portion size was perfect!!! Service was exceptional!!! You’re chef’s are a credit to you!! If only we could keep restaurant week for longer!!!

We’ve visited on numerous occasions over the last year or so and have stayed on a B&B; basis, as well as eaten lunch, dinner and most often Sunday lunch. The welcome we receive from the lovely staff here can’t be beaten and the atmosphere is always just right. Sunday lunch is a carvery and is always piping hot and delicious with a choice of meat and a great selection of vegetables, potatoes and other accompaniments. From the main menu, the steaks are particularly good and perfectly cooked. We visited again last week and had the ‘Norfolk Restaurant Week’ menu, and the dishes we chose were superb. The haggis, pate, smoked haddock and belly pork dishes were excellent and easily rival some of the high end restaurants we’ve been to in the area. The Railway Inn is a little off the main village route but is definitely worth finding. It’s becoming one of our favourite places to eat and that’s down to the hard work and dedication of the wonderful people who own and work here. Well done and thank you all.

We had an excellent lunch last Saturday at the Railway, Docking. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. My son really loved his steak sandwich (really tender) and the ham, egg and chips were spot on. My wife and I had chilli beef jacket potatoes which were great. Lovely to see a traditional pub doing things really well. Dave E

Booked overnight for two double rooms and evening meal. Rooms excellent, and took our dog, and food first class. The two rump steaks were cooked to perfection and the chilli excellent. The overall ambience and service was also excellent. Highly recommended.

We were passing this pub and stopped for Sunday lunch. They do a carvery on Sundays and they were providing roast beef. The food was excellent, just like a home cooked meal unlike some of the pretentious stuff you get in North Norfolk. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and their prices are really good value. A lot of locals were eating here which is always a good sign.

As we were staying in docking, this was there only choice, without driving and to be honest we enjoyed the meal, so much so that we decided to go again on the Sunday and thats when it all went wrong.

Working just a 5 min drive away, the railway is a regular favourite for lunch. I visited today with a table of 15 and even though a pre order is not required, a call ahead ensured we were turned around within our lunch hour without feeling rushed.

Visited this pub at the end of August..rang up at short notice for a table for two and was booked into restaurant which is simple, bright and attractive. Service was warm and friendly. Food was home cooked, well presented and delicious. Went through to the bar area afterwards and enjoyed watching football and chatting to friendly customers. Very pleasantly surprised and would revisit:) Thank you!!

Excellent dog friendly cafe. Friendly staff, good selection of reasonably priced food, including vegetarian and vegan options. Our dog loved the home baked dog biscuits.

Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x

The menu on Google is completely incorrect however the Phat Pats new menu is very nice burgers street food etc but wasn’t what we expected based on the menu listed on Google.

It’s lovely inside, so much to look at and things for sale too. I ordered a sausage egg and bacon roll. It was quite big! It came on a warm plate and the meat was from priors butchers. The teapots and crockery were vintage, loved them. I saw they catered well for gluten free and vegetarian options too. The cafe is dog friendly so as a dog lover, sitting by the door was fun to greet them as they came in. Can’t fault the food, parking, and all the lovely things to look at. I think it could be made more cosy by maybe putting up small partitions/ trellis in some areas maybe. They had a large selection of amazing cakes too!
