Breakfast for two days and Brunch once! The attitude of the service staff was very friendly. It was my first time to try British hash brown, and the taste was very special! omelet chooses to add mushrooms, cheese and tomatoes, and the truffle fries are delicious😋

Nice place and good location but the food was bang average for the price. Both our dishes were overcooked. The sauce that came with the tuna steak was delicious though. Good service. Wouldn’t go back, we just wanted nice food before a concert in the area.

Booked in for the Harry Potter afternoon tea after seeing it posted - must admit it was very underwhelming and didn’t look much different to a regular experience other diners were having. 1 item was similar to butter beer and 1 to a chocolate frog but others nothing like we received. Location lovely and staff friendly & food was good - just not what we went for or expected

We booked an afternoon tea here for a special occasion. Knowing one of our party has an allergy we called weeks in advance and checked with the chef who assured us it wouldn't be a problem. By chance we called the day before the booking to confirm and were casually told that the person with the allergy wouldn't get an afternoon tea but could order something else off the menu. I'm not sure what happened but the whole experience was disappointing and unprofessional. If you have an allergy, including to common allergens like gluten or dairy this is NOT the place for you. Ended up cancelling the booking and going elsewhere and having a fantastic experience.

Disappointing. Arranged a business meeting here to dine and chat. First there was a delay with accessing the table booked. Then the food order was wrong so had to wait for steaks to be prepared again and then 30% of well done steak was raw! They did remove 2 drinks from the bill and we had a successful meet and catch up but I wouldn’t choose to eat here in future because there is no excuse to get orders wrong. Other restaurants check you order back with you when ordering and check order in kitchen before bringing out to you.

Nice bar close to the station. The warm and authentic atmosphere is pleasant. The cocktails are well executed. Prices are consistent with the neighborhood. On the other hand, the service is extremely long. We went to meet the waiter to take our order. Also to indicate that we had little time left before having to take the train to be served. More than 30 minutes of waiting for a cocktail... Too bad.

We waited 20 minutes to be served even though there were only seven customers in the bar. We asked twice at the bar and both times they told us to wait for table service but nobody came. When we complained they said they were too busy with tables outside, but they weren’t. Despite this, an obligatory £3 service charge was added.

This is my second Harry Potter-inspired afternoon tea. On arrival, there was no one at the reception so we had to flag a passing waitress. It set a precedent for the standard of service we would get throughout the experience. Once seated, we selected our pot of tea and the food arrived. None of the savouries were particularly memorable. I would even go as far as saying I enjoyed 1 out of 4 (smoked salmon). The tomato arancini was just odd tasting, perhaps too “wet” in the rice. I like it when the scones come out separately but sadly, they were room temperature by the time we got eating them. With that said, they were still fluffy inside and delicious. The desserts really saved this afternoon tea. I’m usually quite fussy and often find they are too sweet. However, all four were great! My favourite had to be the butterbeer panna cotta - I could have had another. As for the service, no one checked in during the 2 hours we sat there without us calling for their attention. I would have liked a refill of the tea and clean cutlery for the cream/jam spreading. Oddly when we did request more tea, they said it would be on the house? I have never come across this being charged before! I left RAILS with mixed feelings. The staff were nice but inattentive and the food was decent overall.

We dined upstairs and enjoyed outstanding decor throughout. Service was attentive but not fussy, and the food, although a high standard, was not out of this world, but certainly very good, and as an overall experience, I highly recommend it. The only fly in the culinary ointment was the cheapest steak on the menu, It was a poor quality steak that was not rested and once it had rested on the plate, diluted a great peppercorn sauce. I'd also say for the price, the steaks were on the small side. The chips are good enough to still be talking about a few days later, always a good sign! I can just about stomach poor food with outstanding service but not the other way round. I think her name was Stephanie, a manager, she was beyond awesome. I commented on the steak and she did everything in her power to make it right, 10/10.

This is the rebadged Plum and Spilt Milk, a place I gave 5 stars. No famous chef now and its twice as expensive. Food is basic decent but not special and doesn't justify the price (eg a fiver for a small portion of broccoli), wine bottles are approx 4x retail price, so high end and its 12.5% tip. Only one other couple there on a Friday night says that others feel the same. Shame.

For the New year we had embarrassing " Amuse- bouche". Starter was bad and cold ( for me that don't like hot soup was borderline cold). Waiter did return with the hot one as requested! Main Dish was 5* for all of us!!! Desert was split opinion between bad(just too much clotted cream for me) and one not having dessert and two others having requests that were accommodated and the desert got OK mark. Btw even the bread was from day before.

Booked for set menu lunch which offered limited options and started badly when our waitress forgot to put my order through. Salmon starters on the minimal side and my soup whilst ok did come with bread! Mains tasty but again on the skimpy side, particularly the belly pork which only arrived with a small accompaniment of cabbage. The shock came with the bill when we realised that the published price £22 was ex VAT so actually 20 per cent more! The additional 12.5 per cent service charge (noted only in very small print on the foot of the menu) made our discontent complete (not even commenting on the £6.50 (plus VAT) on small glass of average wine). Must be better value/quality to be found in this area!! Avoid if you like to enjoy good food at a reasonable price! UPDATE: Response from restaurant states that fixed price lunch is VAT inclusive but doesn't explain why a VAT charge was then added to our bill!!!

We went for Christmas dinner with my girlfriends. The setting itself is lovely and great for pictures if that's of interest. They have a good concierge so you can hand out coats. They don't seem to sit you before your allocated slot so don't arrive too early. We had a new waitress which she mentioned, but it meant we could only order everything one at time it seemed. So drinks only first, then starters only, finally at some point we got to putting our mains in but it was all very slow. I think the result of this was multiple serving staff and our mains not being put into the system in time and hence a long wait (1 hour) between our starter and our main. They did make it up to us by giving us a cocktail each on the house (5 guests) I had the onion soup, but the first serving of it wasn't warm enough. They did rectify this quickly. Everyone else was happy with their starters. The mains themselves when they came were lovely, but other than the steak frites nothing else comes with sides, so all sides are extra, which rapidly adds up. Also the group felt everything could have been seasoned just a little more. We had pork collar, steak frites, Gnocchi was given thumbs up, sword fish and Cordon bleu. The sides of red cabbage, chips and seasonal vegetables were nice. So would I return is the question? I think I expect my money to get me more than it did that night so I would probably try another place. It might also be that I'm just out of touch with central London prices but I did feel it was a tad expensive for what I got in return.

Came for a dinner with a group on a weekday. The restaurant was only seated with 3-4 tables. Despite the limited customers, the services was generally slow. Food was pretty ordinary. The Langoustine Bisque was watery. And the most disappointing dish was the chocolate tart, it was too dry and sweet, and lack of chocolate flavour. The staff member seems lack of knowledge about the food. When inquired about the ingredient used in one of the dishes, he couldn’t answer and said that she would check with the chef; she came back with a cooking menu/instruction and showed my friend. The location of the restaurant is convenient though as it’s just right outside the tube station.

This is a lovely, comfortable and stylish restaurant. It's quite upmarket so the prices are higher than average. The food we had was tasty, but a bit overpriced for what we had. My roasted aubergine dish was basically a can of chickpeas in a spicy tomato sauce with two tiny pieces of roasted aubergine on top. It was tasty enough but I expected something a bit more interesting for the price. Service was pretty good, and the waiter helped us choose the wine, which was lovely. It was quiet when we had our dinner so if it was busier I don't know if we'd have got the same attention. It was also very nice to have a cloakroom for our coats. It's certainly a good place to have a business lunch or dinner. It feels quite private. The tables are generous in size so there's room for laptop/notebook and food. There are sockets near the dining tables too so you can charge your phone or laptop and it's very convenient for Kings Cross St Pancras stations.

Nice atmosphere, decent food, but the service... A waitress forgot about our order - and that's totally fine if she came to apologise for it. But she got her other colleague and manager to apologize -not for the mistake, but for the "error in communication" instead. It's one thing to make mistakes - that's OK, we all do. But it's another to not admit it. And it's also another to not face up to your mistake, and get others to apologize for you.

We had a really bad experience at the Hansom restaurant today. We went to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday and had booked afternoon tea. We were 4 adults and 2 small children so made a reservation for 6. My husband is diabetic so can't have cakes. When we arrived we were told by the front of house lady that we HAD to order 4 afternoon teas because the reservation was made for 4 adults and the tea was preordered the day before. It felt very condesending and we felt talked down to. If that indeed is the policy, it was not made clear in the reservation and I was made to believe I was in the wrong and trying to weasel out of an agreement. Now we've been to afternoon tea at plenty of different hotels including the Ritz and Dorchester and have never been told that. It felt really embarrassing and not at all pleasant. This staff member handled this situation extremely poorly. I wanted to leave at that point and was thorougly embarrased for my mum who we wanted to have a good time for her birthday. The front of house person was rude and very aggressive when she told us that and stormed off to talk to her manager only to come back to tell us that they were OK to let us order 2 afternoon teas and 2 courses of their normal menu for the other party which we agreed to but it did really dampen the mood and from then on it was just a sh@tshow. It took them probably 45 minutes from arriving to take our order. We finally received 2 plates of sandwiches and food for the children. We had ordered chicken and ice cream. They brought the chicken and left the ice cream sitting out until the kids were finished with their main course so the ice cream was liquid. The main courses arrived, but no cakes. The steak was also over peppered unfortunately. We spilled water but no one cleaned it up or offered a new napkin. Plates weren't cleared, we had to call waiters over to ask for small plates to eat the sandwiches from. 2 hours in there still wasn't any sight of any scones or cakes. By that point my kids were super tired and fed up and frankly we just wanted to go home. I complained to the same lady (front of house) and got told it was standard practice to leave a decent amount of time between courses. I don't think 2 hours is reasonable to wait for scones and cakes! This certainly did not happen the last time I went here for afternoon tea. I told her that we actually just wanted to go home and nobody was in the mood for cakes anymore, that we really weren't happy and frankly super disappointed with the service. She was snide, unapologetic and just kept saying let me check. Finally her manager came over and offered us a reduction in the bill and packaged up the cakes to go. It was a thoroughly underwhelming experience where no proper afternoon tea was had. I had let them know in the reservation that it was for a big birthday, but nothing was done for my mum to make it special. It also didn't feel particularly child friendly and welcoming to a family with 2 young children. The only saving grace was that we were all together, but the day was throughly ruined by the experience. Very very shoddy! Cannot recommend. Overpriced and awful service!
