Ragged Canteen is a quiet and intimate licenced cafe and a great addition to the artist-friendly, ground-breaking Beaconsfield Gallery. Excellent sour-dough toasties with vegan options and some lovely bakeries which you can take outside into the garden courtyard. Some great cocktails too!

I tried the vegan caramelized onion toastie and my friends had the other ones, it was great and the cat in their garden was super cute as well

It was lovely to find this place. I had coffee and pastry for a quick bite and managed to see a wonderful art exhibition upstairs!

Didn't get past the grumpy woman serving, decided to do a u-turn before ordering, advise others to do the same. Went instead to nearby Queens head which was excellent, friendly service and surprisingly reasonable prices compared to many establishments around here

Came here with work mates after thinking the cafe looked nice, but the meal was disappointing. The bread of the open sandwich was dry and quite hard. One of the orders was wrong and a member of staff was rude (after initially being rude when we'd ordered) and made no attempt to fix it. We had to go inside to find another member of staff to sort it (who was helpful). In general the food was tasty, but over priced and small portions. We won't be returning.

With its vegan menu, gingham tablecloths and installation space upstairs, the ragged canteen is something of a hidden gem in Vauxhall, set back from the Thames and bordering a very cute garden centre. It has a great selection of veggie treats, the hot pot of the day being a particular favourite, but some of the open sandwiches are a little on the small side, and may leave you needing a sweet treat.

I used to love this place, the food was good value for money and very delicious. Since they changed chef and menu from 2016, the food is not as tasty, portions have become a lot smaller and prices have gone up. Not a good experience in terms of customer service either, very unfriendly and non-attentive staff. It is a shame for such a lovely place!

Really good veg menu. fresh and put together with care. Coffee really good, good price point. Home cooked. highly recommend. The gallery above is an unexpectedly large space.

This place has a limited vegan menu but the food is very tasty. I had the brunch which was veganised by switching the egg for tofu & that was really good, nice flavours, my wife had the chickpea omlette which she said was good too. Also had x 2 vegan homemade cake choices which was a bonus ;-) Soya milk for tea/coffee's. And pretty reasonable prices for London. Would return when next in the area.

Well it says brunch but you get the lunch menu. If the menu is ready. Quirkily charming with food very tasty and good coffee with soya or almond milk. Expect a laid back unhurried and mildly eccentric approach ! Overall ok

This was okay-ish - nothing special. Staff a bit reticent and shy and not very friendly. My mushroom in blanket was over herby (thyme predominated), but okay - £2.50.

I'm tempted to give a poor review as I would like to keep this gem of a place a secret. The spot is ideal if you're visiting the Newport Street Gallery. Don't expect 5 star surroundings but if you enjoy delicious wholesome fresh food at a fantastic price and in a spacious and relaxed environment, go and visit. In the main area the floor is flagstones and the table and chairs are basic. There's some alternative artwork on display and the atmosphere is unhurried. There's not much room outside but if you can get an outside table on a sunny day then you'll have a brilliant experience. Not much choice on the limited menu but I thought the food was awesome.

Lovely sun filled cafe with a casual and rustic feel. Super looking open sandwiches, though we only had coffee and cake on our first visit. Original recipes for cake - mine was a sort of chocolate brownie, but made with beetroot! Delish. Can't wait to go again. The cafe is located in the burgeoning Vauxhall art quarter, close to Damian Hirst's Newport Street gallery. The cafe is in the Beaconsfield art centre, an artist workspace that you can go round and see work in progress. And there's a cat! As the sign says - the place has added hygge!

Delicious vegetarian food and coffee served in an old school, now art gallery. There is a peaceful outdoor space with herb garden, and art exhibitions inside. Very friendly staff, good music and generally lovely, tranquil atmosphere.

Hidden away in Vauxhall, but 2 mins from the embankment. We arrived towards the end of service but had some tart and the best potato salad ever. The bread and olives were free and delicious. Incredibly good value. The staff were very chatty and friendly. Worth seeking it out for a tasty lunch

Entry is via an unassuming door on Newport Street - press the buzzer and someone will let you in! Once in, the food is very honest homecooking and reminded me of cooking my mum used to make.Portions are plentiful and healthy. Service is relaxed and friendly.

Went here for the copa America final. I was the only one with an Argentina top on along over 300+ Colombians. There was no mention that this was a Colombian event but I stayed and met some undercover Argentinians. People were friendly apart from this drunk stupid Brazilian but Argentina won so it ended up a great night.

Restaurant inside the hotel (Novotel Waterloo) Pleasant, more informal atmosphere. Good service. High prices, but compatible with the price of the city. The fish and chips were delicious, but VERY greasy Worth trying
