Pub menu, with a smell of chlorine and no air! Overlooking the pool, sticky tables and menus and really greedy food. Would not go back, just poor standards, with one exception, the manager. He was the most attentive of anyone the whole weekend, he did really well and I appreciated his professionalism

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat at Rafters rather than travel into Aberfoyle (felt the garden restaurant in the main hotel was a bit smart for our two year old). Despite checking when I made the reservation there was no children's menu so very little to choose from for children - despite this being advertised as a family friendly option. We also couldn't order a portion of vegetables to go with our meal as apparently kitchen had no vegetables. And when the food came it was so disappointing. Dry burgers with soggy oil soaked chips and Mac and cheese which tasted as though it came straight out of box and had never seen the inside of an oven. To top it all off, two burgers, Mac and cheese (kids portion) and a side salad of plain leaves and tomatoes cost £50. Shocked at how bad the food was here for a hotel such a this. Had better at McDonald's. The service was however wonderfully friendly and made us feel very welcome but completely let down by the kitchen.

If you are staying at the hotel eat at the main restaurant and not here! Booked a table to be told when we arrived that there was no table, so had to sit at the bar, food was average at best, service was not great and the waiter didn’t really know what many of the dishes included.

A nice, laid back place which is excellent for winding down after a day of lake side adventures. Cordial service, good food, prices are very reasonable. We were very happy with the service and food.

Tasty and generous meals in a comfortable, traditional setting. Friendly staff and seemed to be well used by the local community.

Stayed for an overnight on the way back to Glasgow. The evening before we were told there were grilled sandwiches available all day. Returning for breakfast at 9.15am we were then told that only coffee was available. We purchased this £3 for a cold coffee from a flask with a disgusting spoon that had clearly been sitting for hours. When I asked for a clean one and commented I was told I could get my money back in a very aggressive manner. Knowing that there was nothing else in the area I felt very intimidated as I was with a group of females the man clearly had an issue. Then going for a shower to experience faeces up the walls on the main floor and toilets that couldn’t be used. I would not recommend!! The staff on the previous evening were great and having been many times before with other friends and family. This place has clearly been taken over and went right down hill!! If you want a relaxing break away AVOID !! Many other amazing places in the area that accommodate a lot better. Definitely not recommended for females only.

I ordered the venison burger, it was really awful. If one part of the meal was not good i would of mentioned it and given them the chance to sort it. But due to so many parts of the meal being really bad it made more sense to write a bad review. The food was what the food was. Chips were sickly pale and undercooked, onion rings were undercooked in oil not hot enough leaving it thick and soaked through the batter, oil was also not clean, it had black bits throughout. The burger bun was dry and freezer burned, either stale or hard at edges from being microwaved. The venison burger had been frozen and defrosted in the microwave, but too long in the microwave so it was dry and solid like a hockey puck. The woman at the bar was not particularly friendly either, not the younger girl, the older one. We spend £45 in there, we were extremely hungry from climbing so we ate it all but it really really was terrible and just to fill a hole.
