Raffles Restaurant in Warwick

We had a Groupon voucher for Malaysian Afternoon Tea, we rang and booked directly with the venue for 5.30pm on Tuesday. We drove 40 mins to Kenilworth, explained we had an afternoon tea booking, at which point the staff member laughed at us and said they only provide afternoon tea at weekends. We noted we'd only rang the previous day to book, they laughed again and said the reception person must be new. They also mentioned you can't redeem Groupon without prior agreement. They told us to just have dinner instead - we left. Awful service and poorly organised.

We bought takeaway and had the fennel lamb (not very nice, but aromatic), captains curry (generally ok) and clay pot vegetable (more sauces then vegetables). Not very happy about the meal at all. Never mind! And double check the bill for any takeout discounts you are supposed to get.

Very slow service. Food ok but small portions.

Do you like dirty plates and cutlery... then come here, my glass smelt of wine even though I only had water. Staff spilt sauce all over our table then wiped it up with a rag that looked like a bandage from a Crimean war hospital tent. The food is terrible, microwaved satay, the curried noodles were just useless, not at all Malaysian or Singaporean cuisine. Avoid!

Good service. Nice food. A little gem that we have found. We recommend Raffles as we enjoyed our visit here. A lovely dinning experience.

We had a Groupon for a Malaysian afternoon tea. It was quite disappointing as quite obvious it was more an Indian platter and cooked from frozen...2 types finger sandwiches..no scones just a small macaroon..very small chocolate brownie.. there were 5 of us and 3 had coffee. When we asked for a refill he charged us for them though 2 hadn't had a first and he only filled mine half full. He then charged us an extortionate Service charge. What service? One man serving... reception and speaking to guests. It was quite expensive and really not worth the money... quite disappointing.

Complete mess and need new staff. They charge 10% on top of your bill and service is terrible. Food was quite nice but over charged drinks as well

Booked lunch for Father's Day, as it had been advertised, and although the food was nice, I had expected it to be more than an afternoon tea type of meal.

The best authentic Malaysian food in town.

I had a meal here with my family and loved the taste of the authentic malaysian food especially the chicken satay and the captain's curry. I recommend this restaurant as it is the best in the area and all the food tastes great and unique.

Was looking forward to this Malaysian meal as it was given as a gift voucher..but the service wait was too long as there was 1 man, being the waiter, reception, taking the orders, managing delivery orders etc, the food really wasn't that great at all. Even though it was a gift voucher for 2 course meal and drink..we spent just over £30 extra due to service charge, an alcoholic drink each, and they served us starters from the wrong menu (not the voucher menu) stated they would not charge for 1 but in the end charged for both with a discount (something like 25p off). For me I will not be going back or recommending..it's a shame.

Genuinely authentic Malay food. Well priced great service and delicious. These folks take great care and pride in their food. Really fresh and aromatic. Loved it.

AVOID IT IS A SHAMBLES - Service, food, hospitality, price, the list goes on Where do we start.... I don't think I have been that disappointed in the food and service in a very long time, The starter 4 tiny Pieces of warehouse frozen pork & prawn Siu mai advertised and pork and prawn dumplings. Mains: Both curries ordered lamb and chicken completely taste like full on Sri Lankan food, lacking any Malaysian authenticity what so ever, clumpy rice (have videos) frozen parantha ( advertised as Roti chanai. Constant loud Tamil language chat from the kitchen, banging, grinding, drilling with an actual drill. Manager walking around whistling! Banged our plates literally on the table and we hadn’t said a word yet, we had ti ask to order. Not asked for any follow up drinks, desserts nothing While we sat there for 45 mins. I seriously would not have even eaten here if I was paid too! Best bit was when we were asked to pay for service, when we got 3 second into explaining he shimmy’s off and called the chef who explained that rice was authentic Malaysian sticky rice.. having been to malaysia 4 times and eaten Malaysian and Asian food many times l've never had lumpy, clumped, old basmati rice MANY PICTURES AND VIDEOS AVAILABLE AVOID ITS A SHAMBLES WILL BE POSTING REVIEWS ON MORE FORUMS

I was staying at the hotel and tried the food downstairs. The captain's curry, tamarind rice and roti were very good and surprisingly cheap - a rarity at the moment. Very much recommended

We had an excellent meal here which was very reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

This restaurant deserves to be booked out every evening. Such excellent food at great prices. The Rendang Daging Tak Perak beef and Captains Curry were superb, as was the 'Jawa' rice (had to have this because Star Wars) The roti was delicious too. We shared curry puffs and chicken satay starters. Also both excellent. Well done chef.

I've just had some very nice food here. I hope people realise what a decent restaurant this is in Kenilworth.

I really don't recommend to go there This is absolutely not Malaysian cuisines. But in fact Indian! Everything felt wrong from the wine we was given to the mains Which waited 50 minutes for a small dog bowl ! For the desert we waited 45 minutes We received a high % alcoholic rum spilled on the plate and the pineapple with the ice cream My partner was drunk! Just from that We looked at the other guests And their plates was bigger and fuller It felt like they're making fun of us Treating us with the worst service Whatever u hear Don't go there ! Let karma take care of this horrible called Malaysian fake restaurant.

Located on the main road and it’s attached to the hotel. Good service and friendly staff… the restaurant is clean and comfortable Food is freshly prepared and well presented, worth a try if you like o try Malaysian food

It's quite appropriate to have the good quality of Malaysian foods here in Warwickshire, UK.

We had Mother’s Day meal Absolutely delicious, authentic Malaysian food. Better than any big restaurants in big cities This is a hidden gem. We had captains curry - chicken curry, murtabak raging (Malaysian bread stuffed with minced bread) and lamp dish. Simply mouth watering. Will be coming back as they do 2 4 1 through meerkat and group on deals making it very affordable

Absolutely beautiful malaysian food! I had the Rendang Daging Tok Perak and absolutely devoured it. We still talk about this restaurant months after visiting! We will definitely be going back soon.

Tasty food at a decent price—very god price via Groupon. Service was slow, but that wasn't a problem for us. Not a place to visit if short on time, though. If you have ample time, worth it though!

Visited here for the first time last night ( Saturday ) using a groupon voucher . 5* we arrived and booked early 6pm. Parking is small ,however across the road The green Man pub has pay/display parking £3.50 for 3 hours . We were greeted by a pleasant and polite gentleman who sat us at a lovely table . Presented with the menu and wow the service and food from that point was super. The chef came to see us also .it was a 2 course groupon voucher ,but couldn’t resist and ordered a dessert to so had 3 courses ! Staters we’re cooked and presented hot so fresh to looked great for pictures . My partner also had a couple of cocktails for a great price and totally recommends the Singapore Slings ! This was my first time eating Malaysian food ,and tasted so nice ,cooked to perfection! Well done and thank you for a lovely night .

Went there on Groupon voucher. Having read reviews was not expecting too much but very pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, friendly waiter and the food was delicious. Will try again when lockdown down over. As an update on this restaurant, booked a meal on Valentine day via Groupon but due to contact with a COVID case could not attend. Tried to contact the merchant via telephone but no one answers. Had to use a third party. Tried to rebook but voucher deemed redeemed even though all our efforts to contact them proved hopeless. Disappointed with the result.

Sadly, we ate here for the first and last time for our Wedding Anniversary meal. For most of the meal, we were the only diners in the tatty and dated restaurant area. The Starters were so bad, we even debated leaving. My wife's Dim Sum were tough in texture and foul to taste. We suggested that the pork may have been 'off' but this idea was rejected by the single staff member. This chap seemed to spend the whole time clattering between the hotel reception and shouting at the chef(?) in Hindi. Unfortunately for them, my wife speaks Hindi and overheard him loudly proclaiming something about 'out of date food'! So I guess our suspicions were justified. The mains were below par and I was charged £2.50 for a very small cup of disgusting instant coffee. Kenilworth has far better to offer, even the kebab shop over the road would seem gourmet in comparison..

Terribly prepared food. Ordered 3 starters, only chicken satay was edible, the other two were bad beyond words can describe. Curry puff without curry, and instead of puff I was given a slab of dough. Main course of fried noodles were nasty and inedible. Avoid at all cost.

Great food, fantastic ambience, friendly attentive staff. Groupon deal would def recommend. Small car park this is a great bonus would say better for smaller vehicles when busy.

Visited this restaurant with friends, both our husbands had served with Royal Marines in Malaya for a number of years and decided to give this place a try when we found a Groupon offer. We had a very warm welcome from a very friendly and helpful waiter. We started with Singapore Slings which were very good and tasted exactly like the ones we had in Raffles Long Bar in Singapore. We had 3 courses, 2 of us had the pork dumplings, spicy pork with yoghurt rice and blackcurrant tart with cream and were both more than happy with our choice even though this pork dish was a lot hotter than we expected. Other two had a minced beef starter which was delicious and Captain's curry for main which was less hot but nevertheless very good. Both had a pineapple dessert with rum and ice cream. We had coffees, a bottle of wine and a couple of beers and everyone set off home in good spirits after a lovely evening out with friends having been looked after in a very friendly and professional way by our waiter. Will be back to try more.

Food and service were good. Decor is a bit of a dirge. Do not enter the crammed in carpark of claustrophobic entrapment. The signs saying it's for hotel patrons only are hard to see until it's too late, then it's painful turning round to get out again!

Always such lovely flavours in all their dishes.

We had takeaway from Raffles in January 2021 and it was OK. It arrived 30 minutes earlier than our requested time so it had to sit in the oven until we were ready to eat, which probably didn't help. The food wasn't bad but it certainly didn't wow us like some other places have (Lil Greens, Balti Vhujon, Alexa Lauren's Filipino menu). We wouldn't order from Raffles again.

Had a meal here and it was very good. So we tried a take away. Most disappointing. I had to wait over 1/2 hr after booked collection time. A total of 2 hrs from ordering. Dal cakes overcooked, wrong veg order, chicken hotpot had one piece of chicken rest was tofu, roti was like a piece of rubber. And to top it all didn’t get advertised 15% off for first online order as I had the set meal for 2. Overpriced and very poor

Delicious! I ordered and it was delivered exactly on time. Best food that I have ever ordered and eaten via Just Eat. The delivery man was very polite too. Thank you so much and please give my compliments to the Chef! Only disappointment is that I didn’t order loads more of your flatbread!!!!

Really terrible food here, don't waste your money, the Indian mee goreng was just spagetti with curry powder, curry puffs were okay but way overpriced

Worst meal i have ever eaten in my entire life!!

Bought a Groupon, given dim sum to start which were shrivelled up grey dumplings which were inedible served with iceberg lettuce covered in salad cream. We left, didn't even bother waiting for the main. It was a disgrace, even the beer was flat.

Tried this establishment on a Groupon so the menu was a little limited. But I can honestly say the 3 courses I had were superb! I wouldn't hesitate to go back here to try the full menu and actually the prices on the menu are very reasonable too. Highly recommended to try the Malaysian cusine here.

Sent the wrong dishes on our order with items missing. Food was mediocre.

Food is definitely not authentic Malaysian and falls short of the exorbitant prices we were charged ( embellished by the service charge on top of everything). I have given them a star solely for their cocktails and the service, which was good. No atmosphere or music and we were distracted by a group of people who were quite loud (not their fault as there was no music but dismal silence in the background which amplified the noise). Also, the waiter's fingers touched our food on the platter - in light of all precautionary measure taken at the moment, it is very undesirable.

The food here was good, the staff were really nice and as it was Valentine's day they gave my partner a rose! There isn't much in the way of parking but there's street parking not far away.

Service is good but the foods is just no where near Malaysia standard. Hainam Chicken Rice should be served with steam chicken instead of unknown black source, Beef Rendang and Satay is too hard to chew. Everything taste like microwave process food... Very disappointed dinner.

Nice place but the food they served was far too salty for me and my wife! We both felt very thirsty that night which, for us, is a sure sign of having eaten overly salted food. There are many restaurants that can produce great flavours without using a lot of salt or other flavour enhancers.

Can't fault this place. We visited this weekend and were treated really well. Food was lovely and served at a perfect pace. Nice calm atmoshere and spotlessly clean . Will definitely visit again when in this locality.

Extremely disappointed. Some dishes were unavailable. Tempura was very salty. “I’ll tell the chef” the waitress replied but no replacement or reduction on the bill. The sea bass was overcooked. The plates were removed while one person was still eating. Not surprising we were the only table in the restaurant!
