We last visited some time ago before an apparent partial renovation. Service friendly and efficient. Comfortable, clean and roomy. We enjoyed the chef's special pasta and a pudding,,, a waffle and a crumble. Good value and good food and beer. No WOW factor but no weaknesses.

This hidden gem of a pub never fails to deliver on the food, drink and friendliness of staff. We struggle to eat out peacefully with our two young children but we always feel comfortable at this pub. There is a great play area outside for the kids to run around and make new friends. Our little girl has a medical condition and the lovely bar lady with red hair always tailor's for her needs. Ross is always buzzing around making sure we are always ok. Great pub that I would highly recommend.

The Queen’s Head is really suited for smokers only. Having rushed our way through the front door as the smokers were congregated outside, we sat at a table and had to listen to the barman speaking to a customer who obviously had had enough to drink. The barman then took his roll up outside whilst on duty. Such a shame.

We were in the area working. Needed somewhere for some dinner and Google led us here. I ended up having several of the best pints of Guinness I’ve had in a while. It was well looked after and we’ll poured. Credit to the lad who poured it. Who also helped us out charging my phone and telling us some wonderfully inappropriate jokes. He was a good man. I had smoked brisket for dinner and it was very good indeed. Should I find myself in the area again. I won’t hesitate to visit again. Highly recommended. Great atmosphere, beer and food.

We popped in for a bite to eat, and the pub, the service, and the food were all superb! What a little find this place is. I was especially impressed by the way the staff took car of a very elderly gent that came in. They took time to make sure he had whatever he wanted, and showed a real human touch. I can't recommend this place highly enough, and will be returning any time we are in the area. If there were more that 5 stars, then I'd given them!

Came here for a Sunday roast and arrived at 4.30pm. We saw the barman outside who said hello and when I asked if they were still doing roasts, he said yes but the kitchen closed at 5pm so he advised ordering sooner rather than later. We ordered and I was a bit apprehensive that given it was not long till the kitchen closed, it might be luke warm and not very fresh food. I needn’t have worried as we were both served wonderful roast dinners, piping hot and every bit of it was delicious and just the right amount. There’s a nice atmosphere here, a few locals were in who all knew each other but you didn’t feel like an outsider who wasn’t welcome. Service was really friendly, football was on which was great for us and we would happily come back.

Just what we expected and as I couldn’t eat all of mine they offered to wrap it for me to take away. Small car park at the back was useful. It had that old fashioned feel about it. No loud tv or music but a nice buzz. Would definitely visit again.

My name is Paul and I work for Surrey times and write review's for 'best pubs in Surrey'. I have been in a couple of times as a lunch guest and an evening drinker over the past two weeks and have to say I'm very impressed with the restrictions in place and the staff maintaining and handling situations in this difficult time. The 'bangers and mash' idea is a fantasic touch and was really enjoyable with great service also. Evening times I can understand it can be difficult when young adults like to disobey restrictions but staff seemed to handle it pretty well. I appreciate also by the look of things it's an old building and over the years it's had some work done. Outside front of pub looks amazing and welcoming however inside could do with a tidy up. I also managed to witness the back garden, very good idea with the telly outside in the tent to reduce customers away from inside the pub however noticed cigarette butts and random rubbish inside the tent even though a 'no smoking' sign is inside. Be sides all that, I will be recommending this pub to friends and foe. Keep up the good work. Paul

On the A245 road, just outside Byfleet village, we chose this pub because we were tired and hungry, after my friend had been for a job interview. The position is close to the road, but pleasant and backing onto greenery. The interior, not too busy at that time, was cool and comfortable...eminently respectable and welcoming, as were the staff. My friend had pork steaks, with rice , vegetables and a sauce which satisfied her, and I had a lighter but tasty fish dish. We indulged in very attractive cream or icecream "pudding" course, followed by coffee. I had had an glass of real beer with my main course. In total, the cost was just under £40 for everything, and we were allowed to take our time without pressure. I believe the pub also offers simple accommodation. An attractive stopping-off spot, with adequate parking. We were not looking for sophisticated dining, but a choice of good simple food in a peaceful surroundings.(August 2016).

Went here recently for the first time with a group of friends for an evening meal. It is a typical local pub with a pool table etc. at one end, locals at the bar and then tables opposite for people to sit, eat and chat. Menus on the table with specials and dessert boards displayed. Food is ordered and paid for by going to a section of the Bar. A good selection of Ales was on offer, including Doombar. The menu selection is not vast, but a good selection including, chilli, fish and chips, burgers, steaks etc. One of our party had a goats cheese starter that was huge and apparently very good. I went straight to mains and had the sausage and mash and it was excellent. 3 large cumberland sausages, pile of mash, peas and onion gravy. Very filling and great value I thought at £9.00. I am not sure where the reviewer who thought this place was expensive ate, but it cant be here I dont think. I had a special dessert of chocolate fudge cake and ice cream, that was also very good and only £4.50. So a 2 course meal with beers and coffee was about £20.00 which I reckon in a Surrey pub is great value given the quality of it.A friendly atmosphere and warm welcome, with good service. Toilets OK. Nothing pretentious, good food. So whats not to like.Worth a visit and I am sure we will be here again.

My daughter and I dropped in for lunch. OMG! If I hadn't felt so harrassed by the staff as I checked the menu I should have left and carried on down the road to the nearby Harvester! The prices were stupid, £9.50 for a burger. A simple lunch of fish and chips and a pint of lemonade, and lasagne and chips and a bottle of still water came to £25! I don't pay that much at the Southampton Food Factory! The quality of the food was completely average. Put a blindfold on and you could be eating in any other freezer to microwave pub in Britain - perhaps they make their own meals, but the menu was much of a sameness, and the lasagne and side salads were very samey. The toasted ciabata which accompanied the lasagne was covered in some sort of olive oil and possibly basil mixture? I should prefer cliched garlic bread if I must have this stuff. Thankfully we weren't spotted waiting to order deserts, so we left without buying a desert. Honestly, leave it to the hooray Henries (one of which even complained her glass of tap water was flat!)

My mom and I were looking for somewhere clean and safe while we visited locally from Canada. We were placed in the house off Rectory Lane, on the main floor, which suited us fine as it was just down the street from family. The main floor placement proved to be frustrating as we were unable to open the windows or keep the blinds open, as a matter of safety. The room itself was very basic: 2 twin beds, an old, somewhat stained sofa, ensuite bath with only a shower, and a desk. Although there are kitchen facilities, there wasn't even a kettle in the room, which was a problem once we found out who we were staying with. It seems the house is rented to workman through the week, so we weren't at all comfortable sharing this space with them. The first night our housemates were extremely loud after coming home from their evening out and the main door to the house was just outside our door; it was slammed a lot. The beds were very uncomfortable, the shower had very little water pressure and hot water was hit-and-miss. There also wasn't wifi in the house at all, which in this day and age is extremely unexpected and disappointing. It did seem, though, that the room was cleaned daily and most days there were fresh linens. Face cloths were not provided - we had to go and buy some. We stayed because of the cleanliness and proximity, but I don't think I would stay again.

I know this pub. I have eaten and stayed there (in the accomodation) while working in the area last summer. I will confirm that the Sunday lunch is quite good. The Sunday service is a "well oiled machine" which is run by Steve (the owner) who is in the kitchen at the crack of dawn every Sunday morning. He personally cooks and oversees the whole day with the help of his experienced kitchen staff. The Sunday lunch has evolved over many years of trial and error with the intention of giving the customers what they want. Everything is freshly made and the meats are British and at are an "average- to-good quality" (what you would expect in a pub like this anywhere in the uk). The roast potatoes I have to admit are the best I have seen (after 13 years professional cooking). The vegetables are actually cooked to order, unlike most pubs who cook a batch and reheat. You will find your staple aunt bessies yorkies with bisto as your (pre warmed) plate arrives in front of you at the table. Here you get what you pay for in my opinion, and a little bit more with a lot of love thrown into the mix. Dessert is mainly sticky toffee pud and jam rolly poly from the freezer but a nice helping of custard it makes it worthwhile. Butterscotch tart is a good choice, it's home made from scratch and the recipe is courtesy of a proper school dinner lady and is to die for! Overall the food on the bar menu is too large in my opinion to source fresh. There are about nine starters, thirteen main courses and about seven desserts. For the size of the kitchen and numbers of diners coming into the place it would be very hard to make everything "fresh". Saying that, the food is alright, cheap and cheerfulAgain, you get what you pay for. I think the beer is superb! The Queens Head is one of the only pubs I know of that take this much care over their draft beers. If the keg is not right it's simply thrown out. Fresh and perfectly balanced is the ethos here, and it's consistent. I would say Steve and Vicky are very passionate about their pub. They work hard to get things right and balance that with having fun and not taking it all to seriously. One of their weaknesses as far as I'm concerned is that they sometimes try "too" hard to accommodate everybody's tastes. But that's just who they are, and nobody is going to (or should try to) change them. If you are looking to treat your better half with some top notch dining then pick another time to visit the Queens head. Its a place to go when you don't want to cook for yourself on a Wednesday night and you enjoy good beer and a game of pool. And of course, Sunday lunch with the folks!

On the strength of its Tripadvisor top rating I took my Mother here to lunch last Saturday. The first impression of the bar area was so awful that, had I not made arrangements to meet a friend, I would have turned round and gone elsewhere. When the food finally came (after a long wait although there were few people eating) it was distinctly average. The low light was the 'special' sea bass that was cooked to extinction.

We had lunch here one day last week.Sadly we didn't agree with most the other reviews. We thought that the food was ok but no more. The bar area could do with redecorating. On the plus side the staff were all very friendly.Dont think that we will be rushing back.

Just love the Sunday roasts in this pub, all home cooked and the vegetables cooked to my liking, not boiled to death for hours. I happen to know that a lot of the puddings are home-made which is always a bonus - butterscotch tart to die for. The pub itself has a cosy, village feeling and I'm so glad we live close by and can be one of the regulars. I've never heard one bad word from anybody about the food and I've spent many hours in here, I've heard lots of compliments though. The same can be said for the staff, they are all wonderful and very friendly and I cannot understand the comments made by Actor 12345 - I think he or she must have been having a bad day to write such personal comments on here, they are just not necessary and very upsetting for the person involved.

Being a regular visitor to the Queens Head, either for a social beverage or a meal, I cannot understand the negative comments below. There is always a cheery welcome and a great pint of beer, especially the Doombar! Just last weekend I had the steak and ale pie which was as fresh and tasty as you could wish for and the friendliness and service from the waitress (with perfectly manicured nails) was exceptional. We were with friends visiting from overseas and they were really impressed with every aspect. We are lucky to have such a gem of a pub in the village.

I have used the Queens Head many times over the last few years and it never disappoints. The beers are well kept and taste good and fresh. The food is always excellent, fresh cooked and an ever changing menu. The sunday roast is very popular and it is best to book or you may have to wait for a table. One of the nicest things is that on the rare occaision something is not up to scratch, just mention it to one of the staff and it will put right with no fuss or embarassment. It might not be the smartest pub in the district but it does know how to deliver a quality service.

We have visited this pub many times now for lunch on a Sunday, the food is homecooked and the portions very generous. They have a selection of freshly made deserts which always go down well with a coffee afterwards! It can get busy so if your in a larger group I would recommend you book although the friendly staff are really accomadating and will always do their best to find you a table. Our favourite place for a traditional Sunday lunch! 10/10

Don't be fooled into thinking by the terrible review below that this isn't a lovely place to visit for good food and welcoming service. I used to live in the area so whenever I'm back down visiting family we'll always pay the Queens Head a visit. We know that the food is consistently good, and cooked fresh (not from frozen like so many pubs around!) and the choice of drink and beers are varied and not over priced. You'll find a mix of locals, folk on business (the pub also has a B&B) and families on Sundays who keep their kids entertained in the outside play area whilst they tuck into their roast. Which by the way, is home cooked and excellent. Definitely worth a try.The pub is family run and the landlord and lady have always been friendly, chatty and accommodating when we've been in so not sure what the Cruella comment below is about! The pub interior is traditional, not modern 'gastro style' but it has atmosphere, which most - if not all - the pubs in this area lack. I despise wasting money on frozen, re heated pub food so here I know what I'm getting...good food and value for money!

As others have said, the interior of the pub does need a bit of updating but it's really not difficult to look past the appearance and enjoy a great meal. We've eaten here as a family a number of times, both at lunchtime and in the evening. The staff have always made an effort to ensure we were happy, even tweaking the menu to accommodate our fussy toddler. We've never felt rushed, despite on one occasion arriving just as they were finishing serving food in the early afternoon. Our favourite local place to go for a relaxed lunch or dinner.

I was there at the lunch time. The pub was not full, but there were some guests ordering food at the same time as me. My order was prepared within some 5-10 minutes and I have no complain regarding the amount or quality. Also the cask ale I had was tasty and refreshing. Prices seemed reasonable. Someone could start talking about some partial refurbishment but I don't think that it would do any good for this pub's atmosphere - I just liked it as it was, a little bit aged but with a local spirit. I can recommend this place.

The queens Head's biggest selling point is the pub food which is excellent and good value. You order your meals at the counter and it is delivered to your table. The staff were efficient but a bit indifferent. The negative was the interior which was very basic an could do with a general update and modernisation, with more comfortable seating. It the owners spent some money on furnishing and it would be very nice

The food is the Queens Head in Byfleet is very nice They serve, good portions and the meals are reasonably priced.we enjoyed ou food. However there is something lacking about this pub. It is rather dated and poorly laid out. It would be much better if they had a special area towards the back reserved specifically for diners. the service was a bit robotic and did have any welcoming feel about it.

The Queens Head is located close to the bridge over the M25 motorway. From the exterior it look a typical English pub and once inside it is just OK, rather tired. However the food at lunchtimes is excellent. Good portions, nicely cooked and fairly price. We have also had our Sunday lunch here wjhich was truly wonderful. The servicve is quick, efficient but slighly too formal. in the evening the customer base changes to the much younger set and it can be a little bit rowdy. Inm our view we can recommended The Queens Head for the food and value but not for anything else. Thetre is a small free car park at the side of the pub
