Following our visit earlier in the month we revisited to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was just fantastic. I had the absolutely delicious seafood platter and my wife who never orders fish unless we are in Devon or Greece ordered The haddock. The meals were again plentiful and superb. This place is an absolute gem and we can’t wait to revisit for a Sunday roast.

Went here for a Sunday lunch based on it being number 1 on trip advisor. We are locals of Maldon for 20 years and recently there has been an increase in good restaurants. So with the Queen Victoria being the best I had high hopes. I wasn’t disappointed. The warm welcome was really nice and a pre drink at the bar started the occasion perfectly. The menu and drinks list was comprehensive with plenty of choice. I choose the lamb chops which were so sweet and delicious they may well have been the best I’ve had. My wife had the roast beef, again perfect and cooked pink like it should be. My grown up sons had the beer battered fish and chips and spicy chicken burger, both said they were delicious. Big portions and superb desserts make sure you go hungry! Highly recommended and so much so that I have already precooked for my anniversary.

Mrs Salisburys Famous Tea Rooms

29/08/2019: Sit in the courtyard if you can, as this had such atmosphere. I had lunch here and the food was well presented and tasty. The place was packed throughout my time there, so service was a little slow. (If you use the car park, make sure you get sufficient parking time.) Staff were helpful, courteous and obliging. Due to the obvious demand of this place, tables were placed very close together, making it difficult to have an uninterrupted conversation. Very bustling tea room!
24/08/2019: It was particularly nice to sit outside in the bustling courtyard, every table full, and every table seeming to enjoy their coffee, lunches, and afternoon teas...

Rubino Kitchen

06/12/2019: The staff are friendly, the ambience is nice, the parking is easy but the actual six-course vegetarian taster platters are very small. The whole six courses would have filled one standard dinner plate, which for £30 a head is a surprise.
06/08/2019: My wife and I live local to the venue and tried it on a Saturday night. We checked the menu before arrival and knew it was quite small - but we liked the dishes. The welcome was very warm. The service was excellent and definately a highlight from all involved. The food was cooked, and presented, very well. Maybe a little more cheese on that course would have been nice but the cheese was excellent. The inbetween-courses food was a lovely touch and excellent. It is quite a cozy venue - maybe 16-20 covers maximum inside - so you do tend to get distracted hearing others conversations; but part of the fun. My wife loved it, and I thought it was very good. With a couple of glasses of wine (A nice Sauvignon Blanc and a lovely Shiraz), 3 courses + tea and coffee came to around £90. So good value and an enjoyable night. The menu changes every month and we will return.
