Quay 22 in Torridge

Delicious vegan breakfast. Granary toast with avocado and mushrooms, absolutely delicious. The lady kindly offered us chilli flakes to top it off. The coffees were very good too. It is a small cafe but with an outside canopy but if you can secure a spot, then you are a lucky winner 🙂 unfortunately no vegan sausages but we still had a great breakfast.

This cafe is a beacon in what appears to be a town in need of inspiration. Right on the Quay, framed by its canopy, which allows you to sit outside despite the british weather, this cafe is a jewel. Whether it be lunch with friends or family or a quick coffee you won't be disappointed. The menu is a delight for brunch, lunch or just coffee. The selection of fresh cakes to sit along side of your tea or coffee is a decision that takes some making. Try it if you are in the area you won't be disappointed.

What a great cafe this is. Very accommodating fitting our two families with prams and babies into the cafe. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious especially the cake!

Great selection of drinks, savory snacks and cakey treats. We had smoked salmon and advocado on toast from the specials menu. Absolutely delicious. Lovely friendly and attentive staff. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Dog friendly to boot.

Stopped here for lunch one sunny day, there were only a few to choose from but this one had outside seating and the staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food was served quickly and was extremely tasty, my only negative point is that the menu was very limited for what I would expect from a smallish cafe

Very good place for a lunch with plenty of seating inside and out. We ordered sandwiches which were delicious and served in good time. Garnished with crisps and salad added a nice touch and they even brought out a drink of water for our dog!!!!

Service was the best in Bideford and food was a pleasant bonus, using fresh local ingredients, which was cooked to perfection!

Decided to come in here as it said Dog friendly What a gem it is!!! I hadthe cheese and ham panini, Mum had the Tuna panini,my partner had BLT , with drinks. The staff are really lovely. When the food arrived, we were all blown away with how fab the food the food was and plentiful. For what we ate and drank the bill was very reasonable. We will definitely return on our next visit. On a recent trip to Bideford for some hard earned solitude- my partner, toddler and myself popped in for some lunch. I was surprised on how busy it was being October, compared to a number of other eateries that were nearby and seemed almost empty. We were greated by a staff member who for once was just genuinely nice and helpful (there is nothing I can't stand more than the American type fakeness that's crept over to the UK service industry so this was refreshing). We had a beer, a glass of red wine and an amazing farmhouse double platter which consisted of a fresh green leaf salad, balsamic dressing, pickles, chutney, ciabatta bread, 4 large chincks of cheese, quality slices of ham and some crisps. I know some will say that it's not hard to throw a 'ploughmans' together but this was more than a pub special - everything was so fresh and full of taste that it stood out for me and the portion size was spot on. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Bideford, the selection of cakes and hot drinks were plentiful and I heard someone on another table say their breakfast were amazing as well. Reasonably priced for the quality of produce used and fantastic service.

Speedy staff took our order & it arrived quickly. Ordered avocado & bacon salad bowl, sausage & bacon sandwich, a decaf coffee & Diet Coke. Total was approx £22 The salad was generous with lots of avocado & bacon. The sausage was really a good flavour & in a sandwich of thick sliced bread. The decaf was a tad bitter. The service was very quick & from ordering to leaving was 3/4 hour. Pleasant day so we were able to sit outside overlooking the quay.

Stopped here for a cuppa and cake and it was positively scrumptious. Great selection of cakes/food, fabulous service and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?! Highly recommend a visit.

Sat outside with a coffee in the beautiful weather yesterday on my first time visiting Bideford. Coffee was great, staff were some of the friendliest people I’ve come across. Would visit again!

I visited this cafe last Monday, the first time since the Lockdown was lifted. I was impressed with the Covid secure arrangements, being greeted by a friendly and supportive member of staff. The breakfast was excellent, and I left very happy and looking forward to returning soon.

Visited Bideford today on a cold windy day n found this little gem Opposite the quay n thought coffee.Greeted by a very smiley host,who asked if we had the NHS covid app n if we did could we sign in or she d take our details manually. She led us to a table for 2 surrounded by newly made wooden n clear perplex screens to divide us from the next table of customers, very covid safe but I felt like I was in a plastic pod n later found it took 4 attempts to attract the hosts attention as she couldn't hear us properly through the plastic screen to get the bill n the sound of the radio.We ordered home made leek n potato soup n tomato n basil soup, tea n a coffee. The soup was home-made n lovely n hot along with brown bread n butter. Host was great, lovely atmosphere, soup excellant n tasty.Good prices. Only downfall was the host who was in n out of the kitchen cutting n serving cake n serving food out front shoudnt have had acrylic nails on in a catering establishment whilst having preparing n serving food.....

Called in here on a wet cold day to a welcoming atmosphere, a busy place with a fantastic choice of menu on offer. The girls were very friendly and chatty. We all enjoyed our lunch and left having had a great time, wasn’t long after leaving when one of the girls who waited on us come running up to us with a bag we had left behind. Thank you so much girls and will definitely return. If you in that area we recommend you call in to this amazing place.

We used Quay 22 on numerous occasions this week and highly recommend it. They have got the issue of Covid very well sorted. We enjoyed lovely coffees cakes and savouries. Very impressed that as all the tables outside had been taken it was no trouble for the owners to put another table and seats out for us. If you’re in Bideford please visit. They love doggies too.

Iced lattes were lovely, cakes are lovely, staff were lovely, panini took a while to cook but made up for it with lovely smiley staff member on the front desk. They have correct, smart covid restrictions! Also correct use of anti plastic in these covid times- possibly a replacement needed instead of plastic cups though.

This is a lovely little unique cafe. The staff are exceptionally attentive and friendly and there is a really lovely buzzing atmosphere. Although it is quite small it is quite quirky and comfortable. The food was amazing and the cakes were to die for. Very cosmopolitan and this is reflected in the price. A little more than I usually pay, but worth it.

I've visited here a few times, for both breakfast and lunch (On one occasion I even booked for 18 of us for breakfast for my Hen Do in August 2019 before heading to Exeter - they are always SO friendly & accommodating no matter what. The food is always of a good standard and the service is always outstanding.They seem to have something that lacks in other cafes in Bideford - I will always choose Quay 22 over any place in town!

This was a very cosy place to eat, soft chairs by the window, lovely and warm and a very good ambience. Food ordered was soup and sandwiches, both were excellent, the soup bring hot, plentiful and tasty. Staff were very nice and the interior and fittings were of a high standard. There was a large selection of food from more substantial hot dishes to lovely cakes. It was a pleasure to be here and felt so relaxing and enjoyable, could have stayed all afternoon.

Such friendly staff with lovely smiles, breakfast was just what the doctor ordered especially the double yolk eggs that were poached. Sitting outside watching the morning go by was great & recommenced.

We visited today with our wee dachshund and were welcomed to a good strong tea (skimmed milk available) and a very delicious full English breakfast. As it started to rain we moved under cover and added a tea cake. All delicious. Service wonderful. Cakes look amazing. Well worth a visit.

We have visited the Quay 22 twice during our visit to Devon. A small and very popular cafe. The staff are lovely and friendly and all made a fuss of our puppy. Lunch was delicious and the cakes are amazing. A must visit 👍

Enroute back home from visiting Devon and decided to stop in Bideford for lunch. Drove past this cafe which looked great and we were so glad we popped in. Lovely, fresh, clean decor with a great menu. The food was excellent, could change any of the dishes to your liking. Definitely recommend the paninis and wraps and really tasty hot chocolate. Very friendly staff, couldn't fault it! Just wish we were locals! Also, very grateful to the lovely owner who ran out to us when my daughter left her rings on the table!!

Called in for a mid morning treat and w3 were not disappointed. Friendly, fast service and a very generous portion of carrot cake with a couple of cappuccinos (one with soya milk) Will definitely be going back again.

A group of 6 of us came here after the Bideford Half marathon on the 3rd March. The atmopshere was lovely and the decor was nice and fresh, but homely. Great food! Great coffee :) Lovely staff and service. Will be back!

Good to see quay 22 open again after the winter shut down.

Quay 22 has recently opened after being renovated and taken over by new owners. It has a lovely welcoming atmosphere and the staff always welcome you with a smile. Nothing is too much bother . The food is great, always a good selection of home made cakes, a good menu with a good selection. Good selection of hot and cold drinks with a take away option too.

Had all had a really nice brunch here whilst staying away with family. Fish finger sandwich particularly good. Didn't have any cake but they looked amazing

Wet November day and hungry. The minute we walked in we were greeted with smiles and a table. Lovely soup and bread . Ambient décor, comfortable , lovely atmosphere, friendly manager and staff. Probably won't be back in Bideford for another 20 years but we'll definitely check this place out again!

Used to visit here regularly when it was the Quayside Cafe and it was very good. Visited when it just relaunched as Quay 22 - found it a bit expensive and poor service. Decided to give it another try recently. Found the same problems. £9.55 for 2 coffees and 1 slice of cake! My wife pointed out that this was more expensive than 2 traditional breakfasts and unlimited coffees at Wetherspoons just around the corner (£9.30). Additionally the service was slow and not very friendly - after waiting more than 15 mins I had to remind them that we were still waiting. Only positive was that the coffee was good although not sure why the glasses had to be precariously balanced on a saucer.

This is one cafe that doesn't disappoint if you are looking for a clean table to sit at!

I’ve visited several times and always experience such great service! The food is amazing and such a great choice of yummy homemade cakes. There is always such good vibe, staff are really friendly and welcoming. If you haven’t been already then you are missing out! Can’t recommend Quay 22 enough!

Only had coffee and cake here but a friend had the breakfast wrap and said it was delicious. It was very busy.

I went in for breakfast on saturday, it was really nice, I like the fact that the beans are in a dish on their own. Lovely ingredients and well cooked, the staff are very freindly and the place is very clean.

Very average food, sausage were of poor quality and burnt, asked for white bread and got brown, asked for brown sauce and got red, very slow when ordering, did not help when 2 of the members of staff carried on chatting and ignored customers waiting to order, the ordering area is far too small and really needs to be table service.

I ordered the thick brown toast and it certainly wasn’t thick. It was two medium slices of ordinary brown bread which wasn’t the impression the menu gave. My husband had the sausage sandwich which was average. Wouldn’t go again as there are plenty of other cafe’s in Biddeford to try.

Only called in for coffee and biscuits mid-morning. In or outside - inside small and busy so we were outside, though unfortunately that meant smokers. Friendly service and good strong coffee. Will be trying it again.

We've just had high tea here and it was the best ever! I won't describe it, you'll just have to try it for yourself; simply outstanding.Furthermore, the staff a very friendly and accomodating, which makes the experience all the better. Thank you Quay 22. What a little gem. Heartily recommended coffee stop on the quayside. The staff were very friendly, the coffee was delicious and the cakes great. I expect we’ll be back again in the week.

A fab visit to Quay 22 this week. We arrived ( two couples, one toddler, one baby and 4 dogs!) and they were very accommodating and rushed out with biscuits for the dogs and water. The food was tasty especially the bakewell slices! Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

What a lovely place the coffee was the best we had had all week in the area! and the tea was great. The owners were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you and were so friendly interested in whether we were on holiday and where we lived. The place inside and the tables outside were spotless which is important. The cakes looked lovely but couldn’t have managed one!

Previously the quayside cafe it is now under new mangement, the new owner has done a really good job in transforming the cafe. The decor is different, the seating is comfortable-and plentiful for sitting outside when the sun is out. A delicious new menu is available with a choice for everyone.
