Qmin in Merthyr Tydfil

I don't do Indian food normally but friends asked me to join them. I am so glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing and even though it was busy the food was quite quick being served. I'll give this 5 stars 🌟

Food was excellent, but a little pricey. The building exterior looks tired and a little off-putting, and the interior could do with a revamp, but the food was very good and very welcome. I had the beef madras, special rice, peshawar naan preceded by the pickle tray and two poppadoms. Best I've had in ages.

Delivery service shocking over a hour and half late

The taste of the food is lovely. But be aware they are very crafty. I've ordered the lamb curries and have had beef on several occasions. So much so I've stopped ordering from there. Restaurants do this as beef is cheaper than lamb and they hope customers won't tell the difference. But I can and have had replacement food from there because of this. They also give lamb and beef in a lamb curry.

We enjoy coming here with our family and friends. Food is great and the staff is very friendly.

It was great experience. Food was delicious were ordered. Not much crowded. If going groups prefer to book a table.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY... Waited over an hour for our food and when it finally came it was greasy and bland. Left feeling sick and annoyed

Excellent service. Friendly staff. I highly recommend for you to try out their Qmin special biryani. One of the BEST I have ever tasted in my life...And i've tried a few in my lifetime! Good location, I look forward to visiting again.

Have just eaten dinner here and it was delicious, both my partner and myself were very impressed by the choice of menu, food and service. We are visiting the area but would definitely book here again when we return.

Read the reviews and was undecided whether to try an indoor dining experience. Went in on Sunday at 7pm. Started with a bottle of Cobra then had an Onion bhajee starter followed by chicken Madras, pillau rice and nan. The service was good and efficient throughout with plenty of (what would seem returning) takeaway customers. The meal was excellent and very filling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. My only gripe was the playing of 70's music in the background. I have been eating in Indian restaurants since the late 70's and my personal preference is Indian background music. Still 5 stars though!

I went with my wife and we both had a little weird experience, The service was late and we did not even receive the bill at the end we had to go to the counter and pay the bill. Food was okay but the curry was a bit sweet. The atmosphere was shady not happening or not a good vibes.

Lovely hot tasty food. Only issue was we were a bit cold. Could have done with sitting by a radiator. Staff lovely. Def go back. 👍

Best Bangladeshi Restaurant in Merthyr Tydfil

I ordered from the online menu and was quoted £64.90 £8.80 over the online advertised price. I asked why this was and was told that the prices had increased. Which I could understand with prices all going up. I asked for a updated menu to be included with my order. After my son collected my food and I had time to look at the menu. The price I was quoted was wrong , I was charged £2.05 extra! When I rang to ask why? I was told it was for the single carrier bag and menu. An unbelievable rip off, I would advise any one, to avoid this restaurant. I will never be using them again and neither will any of my family.

Food is ok but don’t understand why the service guy always ask us to be seated and is unhappy if we get up from the place 😂the bearer of probable bangla origin has a bad attitude towards the people from asia?! We felt so. He was never bothered to say a single word against two local guys talking loudly 😁

We did have a large party, but it took 2 hours for some people to get their food, and one of my parties food was cold when it came out. Overall it was sadly a disappointing night.

I cannot eat chicken. I ordered the Hiryali balti which on the menu said lamb OR chicken. I specified lamb twice and still got chicken. When I pulled it up, the waiter gaslit me saying it came with both. There was no lamb in my dish. I was brought a different dish, pretty much the only non chicken they had because they were out of everything. I was still charged for the original dish! I'm absolutely fuming

Ordered a take away at 6.10 pm. It’s now 8.40 pm and no sign of any food. Such a shame the delivery /take away service is so rotten. The food when you can get it is lovely. So this is the last time for a take away with these, I remembered it happened last time as well. Such a shame !!!!

Our first impression was wow the place needs a little TLC. The menus were tattered, the placemats were similar, the chairs scuffed and stained. But that didn’t mean the food would be bad. While sitting there quickly realised it could also do with a bit of a clean. There was coconut in the cutlery holder, food stuck to the bottom of the matts, mint sauce smeared over one of the pages of the menu (at a time when restaurants ought to be disinfecting shared items still after use), and the toilets were not ideal. Then came the food. My order was a little wrong, but that was quickly fixed and because I had already torn into the nan, I did get to keep it which was good as it kept me going until the correctitems came. But then I started on the mains. The Lamb Tikka Massala. The sauce was cooked well, it was sweeter and creamer than usual but it was a good dish. At least the sauce was.. .the lamb was completely inedible! Every single piece was gristle through and through, with tiny bits of edible meat on the edge of a couple of pieces. I couldn’t even cut through it. I have never complained about my food in a restaurant before, but I did today! (And I was very nice about it). Only due to no one coming to check everything was OK the complaint had to wait until the end of the meal. Which brings me to another issue, the service was...meh. it was slow and seemed disinterested and we were the only people eating in there, and there were two members of staff out front!!! It was clear I wasn’t just being difficult, because almost all the meat was left on the side of my plate and a quick inspection would support my claim. Then just as we were about to leave i was offered another portion, which we declined because we couldn’t wait and the service hadn’t exactly been quick up to that point. Then to my shock, when it came to pay the bill, they didn’t take anything off the bill, not the dish, not even a drink. Up to this point we were going to give them another chance. After all every restaurant has a bad day and we were intendingto try them all twice. The way they deal with mistakes is important, but their lack of concern was mind blowing, and we do not intend to return. Then we drove away and tried to make sense of the price, I am fairly sure we were even charged for the nan we didn't order when they mixed the order up. Having not long moved to Merther working our way through all the restaurants in and around the area which are of a similar variety. This is now at the bottom of our list.

Absolutely love this Indian as a take away and to sit inside the restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful, service was excellent. All covid measures in place with the 2m rule, handsanitising. Just amazing

Haven't had food from qmin for a while,as last couple of time I had a takeaway there it wasn't very nice.But had one last nght and it was stunning must have a new chef or maybe because they weren't busy ,but was really nice keep it up and will definitely be my regular again

I ordered a stake with no onions or peas or anything last week and they delivered a stake with everything on it.they promised they would give me a free stake on next order but when I phoned them now they wouldn't give me my order because it didn't cover the delivery. They don't get my orders again. Their loss.

Rude staff, was waiting to get through half hour before being hung up on after being told to order off a website with no ordering capabilities. Disgusting behaviour from staff and will no longer be ordering from them.

Very rarely write reviews, but felt I needed to in this case. Noticed a decline in quality and consistency regarding the Indian takeaways around the Merthyr area. Reluctantly tried Qmin, and definitely wasn't disappointed. The curry was just as it should be, amazing flavour and good quality meat. can't complain about a thing. Delivery was just under an hour on a Tuesday evening. This will be my new go-to. Just hope it's consistent.

This is the second time they have messed up my delivery. Waited over 2.5 hrs for my food and had to ring to be told I have to wait another 30 mins . I have gone here for years every time it gets worse. Basically they don’t give a s/!t Never again.

2 hours for delivery ..some of it missing the rest cold ..rang them tried telling me it took that long to cook ..24 hours later food still missing and no offer of refund .absolute joke

Have never ever experienced something like this before. First it took them 10 minutes to come to our table and take the order just to let us know that we cannot order food now - we have to order drinks first. Another 10 minutes later we were finally allowed to order our food. In the end we had to wait appx. 2 hours until we have received our food which tasted okay but looked like a bowl full of oil. Half of the restaurant was complaining and even people who were only picking up pre-ordered food had to wait for such a long time. Should have read the reviews before going in...

Don't come here if you are hungry.. we waited two hours for our food and waiters were unfriendly on top of it all. Food is OK but drowning in oil.. even people who ordered take out had to wait for at least 45 minutes! Try to find alternatives, although there's not much around in the area!

We were on a walking weekend and came across this Indian resaurant whilst staying in Merthyr Tydfil. I have to say the food was excellent. At least as good as anything we can get at home in West London where we're frankly spoilt for choice! Delicious, well presented food in a nice atmosphere. Just what the doctor ordered after a gruelling hike up to Pen Y Fan, Cribyn and Corn Du... I'd definitely make a bee line for it if I'm ever in the vicinity again...

The Curry Club from work highly recommends it. Good menu, reasonable prices. I've always found that the wait for the order could be shorter, but no real complaints. Everything fresh, plates laid hot and staff always checking that all is well. Some welcome new items on the menu (and yes, they do both a collect and a delevery service)

Always have a good meal here...best Bangladeshi restaurant in the area. Can be busy on weekends, so we tend to go midweek. Looking forward to our next visit!

Went for a special that was labelled madrass hot, it was full of oil and not hot at all.

Terrible service. Gave our food to another table at first. Cold plates. Food was very bland. Chips were like cardboard. Won't visit here again.

Lovely food, not a bad wait time especially since they were very busy. 2 of us couldn't finish our food so they bagged it up for us to take home. Their Peacock cider is lovely.

I’m only giving it one star as I had to. Ordered food for my mother’s birthday at 1900. Asked for a delivery time of 20.30-2100. Rang at 21.20 to ask where food was only to be told they wouldn’t have a delivery driver until 21.50. Cancelled the order. Rang back to try and get some sense of the situation only to be told what do you want me to do about it, then hung up. My parents are regulars at the restaurant. Not any more. Avoid like the plague.

Absolutely terrible- 3 hours wait for delivery that never came - when originally told 45 mins then another half hour when we called. Phoned 3 times we were then told it wasn’t even in the kitchen and there’s still another 40/50 mins wait ! Discussing treatment Qmin had been my favourite takeaway- out of principle I will no longer go there and I’ll make sure all my friends and family will hear of the very poor customer care were received!

Incredibly slow and poor service. Booked in at 8pm. Half empty restaurant, loads of staff. Had to request menus and our drinks order to be taken after 10 minutes of being ignored. Had to chase up our drinks order, only to have staff unprofessionally criticize each other. The mains finally arrived at 10pm. A few of the group had diarrhea the next day.
